I wish I could be more optimistic about the MPG I'm getting, but I'm barely making out 15 at this point. It's mostly city driving with lights and stop and go, so I assume that is why I'm getting such low mileage. I have yet to really take it out on the highway for a long distance to see what it can do, but I'm sure that if I did I'd be a lot happier. Or so I keep telling myself in the hopes that I won't go crazy looking at the trip calculator everytime I fill up.
I have about 650 miles on it now and I love the ride and feel of it. I'm sure that you will like it years from now and it holds its own with residual value should you ever get tired of it.
Definitely, but my problem is finding a Limited with no other packages. Out here they seem to be optioned up, many with the 3rd row seats. The salesman seems to be totally uninterested in looking for anything not on their lot, and my car is going to a new home this weekend, so I better get going!

Just got word that my color combo's in the LMT AWD, will not be in production for at least another 8-12 weeks. Whatta downer. Thought I was gonna have some new wheels come Xmas. But if I drop some 30k on a car, I want my colors! Oh well, I've waited close to 5 years for a new ride, another 3 months won't kill me. Just hope it don't kill my current :lemon: !
Very strange sales tactics here in Alb!!!
Indeed. With my car gone, I have cash in hand - no trade, no financing - the perfect customer. I'm about to start checking with dealers in other cities. I'm on the East side by the way, trying to get Southwest Hyundai to take my money. I did a quick drive over to Larry Miller but they didn't have but two or three Limiteds.

yeah, black and beige I think is a classy combo. Just not a huge fan of the Black. Have to keep it up, shows blemishes, dirt, etc. and has a tendency to oxydize quickly. I live on the coast too. But that combo with the chrome trim just is so slick. Slate blue and black is slick too.
Good luck with your current auto. I've already sacraficed a few grand to the car gods in the past year. Used already with 80k on the o-meter. And I so very much know what you mean about considering a Hyundai. Took a whole bunch of arm twisting to even get me to step foot on a lot. But truthfully, it's been hard finding another auto that gives you the same quality or waranty for that matter for that price. Good luck
On PBS this Saturday Motorworld (I think) is reviewing the Santa Fe. I have it Tivo'd.
Care of the black does take some work. But regular waxing and upkeep should do the trick. And if your in NM, you may want to consider a teflon coating. It gets HOT there!!
If I were to go white, I'd get the Arctic White. That would look GREAT with beige.
So my dealer made the offer of the Limited AWD with sunroof package at 30k out the door. thats a bit under 3k below MSRP. I wanna think this is a decent offer? For the record, according to lulu, i am also of the evil educated minority. But suprisingly, my dealer can appreciate that. Doesn't waste time haggling and just cuts to the chase. We'll see....
I wish I were so lucky! I tried to buy the Pearl White one on the lot today, and didn't really expect them to get to where I was at since I didn't want all the extra packages. But I didn't expect the runaround where the salesman goes back to the manager 4 or 5 times (I lost count) dropping a little bit each time. The most insulting, however, was the first counter where they were like $1000 over Hyundai MSRP. This dealer adds $2K extra profit and $1K for oil changes and tires for life (I think).
The next most insulting was the comment that they could never even reach my price for a Limited with no packages - I was $1K under MSRP at $25K. I'm sorry but I don't believe that.
I'm now on a hunt for something besides a Santa Fe unfortunately.

Did you read my earlier post? What is up with that (the service you received}? That makes me so mad about the $2000 build up!!! It's a Hyundai for goodness sakes and that Pearl White one has been sitting there for at least 2 mos! Doesn't it cost the dealer a lot if the car is sitting there forever? And they told us that the tires and car washes were free! ha! Maybe I will go look at that Mitsubishi Outlander when it comes out! It has the same type of warranty!
What happens to the warranty and service if we buy one from Santa Fe, NM or Las Cruces---does there service dept honor the warranty. Can anyone answer this question?
I would appreciate it!
One of the delar has offer me $200 below the invocie on GLS w/ Premium pkg but will not accept the $500 incentive. Does he has the right? or he must give me additional $500 off?
Small print on cert is "The purchaser has the option of applying the $500 to the purchase price or to have the incentive issued directly to purchaser by Hyundai Program Headquarters This coupon is good at any participating Hyundai dealership".
Please share your opinion. Thanks.
negotiate the OTD price w/ your salesperson, i.e. $xxxx.xx plus TTL, then stick to it...NO ADD-ONS in the finance office---NONE!!!...be ready to walk out if necessary.
The hi-volume dealers get discounts and incentives above and beyond the "holdback" so they may not make as much on your sale, but they are not going to make a deal where they lose money...and they can always look forward to the next customer that hasn't done their homework...good luck!!!
BTW, I have confirmed that I can use the $500 certificates as cash after purchase price.
They had a base SE in stock in the right color. Told them my best offer and they came back with $22,300 (destination included), wouldn't go any lower. I accepted so it looks like I got it for $340 under invoice. Maybe I could have gotten a better price after looking around more, but I'm pretty happy with it.
Just wanted to know what everyone else thought of my deal. I just wanted to thank everyone on the forum helping out others with their car searches. It helped me a lot in figuring out how to get a fair price.
On a side note, how did you go about getting the certificate? I went to a similar event, but all they handed to me after the test drive was a picture frame.

As far as a good deal, I think the best thing to do is to contact your dealer(s) of choice via internet. Tell them exactly what configuration and color you want and have them give you a quote for "out the door price". Make sure the quote includes all the details of exactly what you are getting. You can then visit your first choice dealer and decide if you want to negotiate or if you think their price is fair. I thought my dealer offered a fair price.
I had to wait a month for my Santa Fe. It was well worth the wait. I absolutely love it!
BTW, you said you purchased an AWD Limited with Premium & Touring package... Would you mind sharing your OTD price?
- Frank.
I've seen several lower prices paid here, but I'm happy with my deal. It represents a fair markup for the dealer, who is not a particularly large Hyundai dealership. This was the price they quoted me via email.
Check their pricing and inventory online.
If you can't get one for these prices or lower then you are throwing money away!
(Fitz Auto Mall Santa Fe AWD Limited).
I paid $27,777.57 (before NJ tax, tags & title...$30,074 after) for mine.

Although I don't claim extensive knowledge on dealer finances, it is my understanding that the dealer will receive a monthly rebate from Hyundai for each car it sells. This is called the "holdback" and can vary depending on the volume of cars the dealer sells and on the particular model. Hyundai can alter these holdbacks to provide incentive for dealers to push specific car sales. The actual net cost of the car to the dealer is therefore usually at least $500 to $1500 less than the invoice price. That's why dealers can sometimes afford to sell below the invoice price. If anyone has more information or corrections on this holdback concept, please step in. I think the dealers and manufacturers try to keep this detailed information confidential and I have no idea what the actual holdback is for the 2007 Santa Fe.

Read the fine print on Edmunds pricing and you would know that.
Don't worry about TDA or holdbacks. Get the price down to $800 or more below dealer invoice.
Use Fitzmall pricing as a tool.
There are even two on EBAY!!!
I too tried to buy a Santa Fe at the Folsom dealer last year from the internet sales person. I asked that they match the ad price of a bay area dealer, they wouldn't. So I bought the vehicle from the Florin Road dealer that did match the price. Later the Folsom dealer called me to see if I was still interested, I adv them too late.
