I know, I have been posting from work all day as well. I will end up getting fired, but by golly I will have helped the Protege forum get to 10,000. :)

Malt, I liked the MkI best of the RX7s with the coke bottle shape and light weight. Shoot, some content. Trying to convince a co-worker to buy a Pro for commuting.. he drives an F-150 130miles/day.

Hey Meade when are you guys doing MAPP III? Just curious. We need to have something like that up here in Canada.

How about a CAPP (Canadian All Protoge Picnic)? We could do it say in Manitoba....
    Muwhhahahahahahahah
Totally joking...I'm never driving into Saskatchewan again...sooooo boring!!!

I recently started looking at cars and the Protege is definitely one that I am considering. I know that the '00 ES automatic goes 0-60 in 9.9(Edmunds comparison test)but how quick is the new ES 2.0 automatic? Has anyone driven both back to back? Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Wow, 10k posts, that's crazy:)

Got a chance to get a black 38,000 mile 2000 2001 Civic Si for 11,000. Zoom is having a fit over this car. The big problem is whether to trade her Mazda or sell the "green car". I don't know what to do. The Mazda is brand new but has a payment but the "green car" has 141,000 miles on it. But I could get at least $4000 for it if I sold it.

I need input here. If you would like pics to help I'll be taking the digicam with me to look at the Civic. I'm stumped.

She paid for the first 3 mths, I paid Sept-Jan, and she's paying it now since I need to save $ to get myself my own (100%) car. Most likely a used (92-96) Protege, Integra, MX3, Nissan NX or
    Maxima, Celica...

    Is it a 2000 or a 2001? Can't be both!

  • fxashunfxashun Member Posts: 747
I just remember she said it was an last edition Si.
  • dinu01dinu01 Member Posts: 2,586
In MB? Must be a 2 days drive for both then. You can bring Duh_Ster with you in one car. But who do I bring along? No one from T.O. here (:

I was kidding...it's much too long a drive. Anyway, isn't Tim (gandalf) from TO?
  • vocusvocus Member Posts: 7,777
That Civic is a 2000, the last year (until now) for the Si model.
  • dinu01dinu01 Member Posts: 2,586
it's his wife's PRO. I know you were joking. If *everyone* from here would meet at one place once, then maybe I would drive for 2 days, then take a vacation along the way. But only for a CAPP/MAPP, H no!

Yeah....how about a NAPP (North American Protege Picnic)? Hheheheheheh...I just like the name!
  • dsm6dsm6 Member Posts: 813
You know, one of us could go back and delete a pre-10,000 mark post, and knock Meade off the top of the hill. Just a thought. That would be cheating, and I for one would still recognize Meade as the 10,000th - our poster child. ;-)

Back on topic - Vocus, I test drove a 1.8T Jetta with sport suspension and 17s. Nice ride, too expensive for me, though, so I had to pass on it. Anyway, I like my cars to ride stiffly. The thing to do would be to ride in an MP3, then decide if I want to MP3 my Pro ES's suspension. Problem is, they're rare. Maybe I'll try to take a test drive in the Mazdaspeed 3 when it comes out.

I go to a meeting and come back and it's done. This forum is CRAZY!!

fxashun---watch out with that Si. Many of those have been starched out, raced, and beaten. In case you didn't know, many people like to steal those cars too. I'd dump your green car and have two relatively new cars.

My Pro has been driven by me (except for the occasional service guy) 100% after I got it.

I offer to let my wife drive it (to get her hooked on it), but she's afraid she'll damage my "baby."

    Congrats Meadeball. :)
  • shriqueshrique Member Posts: 338
has anyone else gone and read the I don't like SUVs, why do you? forum? Man it's this odd discussion about taxes and conspicuous consumption and other oddities. Way too deep for me I had to come back to my downtempo not so serious Protege forum.
  • maltbmaltb Member Posts: 3,572
I used to read it for a while, but obviously the guys posting in there have no life.
  • sunbyrnesunbyrne Member Posts: 210
I don't read for what, like a day and a half, and "252 new posts." Yow.

Seriously, though, congrats to Meade. If anyone deserves it, it's Meade. Of course, that's because 20% of the posts are his anyhow!

    Kidding, Meade, I'm kidding...
  • chicagoprochicagopro Member Posts: 1,009
Sorry I wasn't here to see it happen, but trust me, I was feeling the love here in Chicago.

    Congratulations, Meade!

    Hey, there--

Not sure you'll see this buried in 96 shpillion posts, so please post back so that I know you saw.

Baby, you can drive my car anytime you like :) (sorry, that's a Beatles reference...perhaps you're too young).

It would be great to meet up with you while you're out here...one of my e-mail addresses is over on the yahoo group. Let me know the details of your trip.

We may be young but *some* of us are able to recognize talent and listen to good music on occassion :P
  • chicagoprochicagopro Member Posts: 1,009
...what's your favorite Beatles album? :)
  • chicagoprochicagopro Member Posts: 1,009
...you're the same one who likes 'Tron', so don't try to tell me about recognizing talent! ;)
  • dsm6dsm6 Member Posts: 813
These are the tires on the 02 (01?) ES. Some of the 5000s are assymmetricals. Ours are not. They are also not directional.
  • maltbmaltb Member Posts: 3,572
and others of us just don't care for Brits with 6 legs or air cooled VWs.
  • protege_fanprotege_fan Member Posts: 2,405
Now you're insulting Tron??? Gimme a break!!

Anyway, I don't have one particular favorite album...I like a lot of different songs...I listen to "1" a lot (especially in the Pro), but the g/f has the Blue and the Red on CD. The first VINYL album I listened to was Sgt.Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

  • chicagoprochicagopro Member Posts: 1,009
I hope you know I'm joking...guess I got a little fight in me today :) My folks used to blast the Beatles & Stones all the time when I was growing up...I was somewhat of a flower child.

Okay, on-topic...hmmmmmm....don't have any Beatles CD's for the Pro...perhaps I should pick some up this weekend.
  • maltbmaltb Member Posts: 3,572
    Beatles and Beetles
  • chicagoprochicagopro Member Posts: 1,009
lol...I wondered if you were talking about insects and VW's, but wasn't sure.

And yes, we had an old Beetle, too...yellow, of course :)

Can I wash the car if it's 36 degrees out?
  • protege_fanprotege_fan Member Posts: 2,405
    Oh heck yeah...if it's above 32 F (0 C) then it's all good IMO.
  • chicagoprochicagopro Member Posts: 1,009
...windows up this time, though, promise :)
  • protege_fanprotege_fan Member Posts: 2,405
I find it easier to clean the interior after i'm finished washing the outside...you may want to try that too Dale.

We missed you last night at chat!

Yeah, I was kind of afraid of the sheet-of-ice phenomenon. I live close to the lake...pretty windy. Even though the air temp is above freezing, sometimes things get a little icy. Maybe I'll wait...especially since the sun's about to go down soon.
  • the_big_hthe_big_h Member Posts: 1,583
    and with heavy winds.... brrrrrrrr....

But I'm excited, I'm going autocrossing with my Pro tomorrow at FedEx Stadium. I did it for the first time last week and it was a blast, this time should be even better!

I'm gonna try with all I can to make the Pro spin out on a hairpin!!! ;D
  • chicagoprochicagopro Member Posts: 1,009
Well, good luck, Hank...or be careful...or whatever the appropriate thing is to say...
  • the_big_hthe_big_h Member Posts: 1,583
was at my parents' house last night and couldn't establish connection with yahoo's chatroom software. what shinanigans did you guys talked about in the chat?
