dawnk1 - For OEM mudguard, try www.camelbacktoyotaparts.com in AZ. They should able to location the part number and price for you. BTW, most of the parts cost less than www.toyotaguys.com For the window deflector (rain visor), www.mats.com should release it soon. But they already have the WeatherTech rubber mats. The window deflector that they have for other vehicles is a very good product. It requires no tape for the front set. You just insert the deflector inside the window channel and leave it for 24 hours for proper fitting. It will not fall. On the other hand, the one from Vent Shade requires tape.

Thanks for the advice on accessories. I'll definately be ordering those Weatherguard mats once my van arrives and will be impatiently waiting for the Weathorflector for the '04.

Does anyone know if it is possible to add an aftermarket auto sliding door to a Sienna which did not include that option from the factory? What would it cost? If it is possible, would it be worth doing considering the cost and resulting reliability relative to factor installed as an option? Opinions welcome...Thanks!

I want to have a power sliding door to my 98 Sienna. But how do I make it remote operated?

Would like to purchase a Front End Mask (bra) for my 2004 Sienna XLE LTD. Does anyone know of a manufacturer producing this model yet.
    Thanks

Has anyone purchased the Cargo Carrier, Bike Rack, Cargo Tray or Swing Away designed for the Dual Port System? If so, is there anything I should consider or prepare for? Please advise. Thanks!

I bought 2004 Sienna XLE Ltd. I was not told that RUNNING BOARD is an option.
When I ask my dealer, it is found out that RUNNING BOARD can only be added at the factory. Toyota does not shop this option as after-factory.

If I get it, it is feasible to installed in dealer? Any suggestion? Thanks.

You can try eBay to find one. A few owners have taken them off and sold them for about $200-$300 for the pair.

As far as dealers go, they will be available at the parts department sometime. But will cost more than getting them from the factory.

I saw that another Toyota vehicle had convex mirrors installed on the inside of the car next to the rear window that allowed the driver to see the area directly behind the car. Is this part available for installation on Sienna '04?

Anyone got a cargo liner for the 04 Sienna? I already got spilled milk in there!
  • lok888lok888 Member Posts: 1,788
Try www.mats.com They have the WeatherTech premium rubber mats and cargo liner for 2004 Sienna. As of this time, they only have the cargo liner (about $80) which fits the 3rd seat well area. This means you can put this on only with the 3rd seat up. They are planning to make the extended version with the 3rd seat down (extends to the the back of the second row) within months. A cargo tote by Cargo Logic would be an alternative. Hope this help.

So much information on upgrades and everyone is asking roughly same questions.
I like alot of these ideas, better lights, seat covers, mats, air filters which I just bought one and am very pleased! fog lamps, dvd/tv setups. etc.
Ok from my understanding the cool blue will last 6 months and are around the best ones? or?
So far the cheapest set of seat covers I have found range from 150 a set front 150 a set middle and 80 for the rear bench since they are custom.. ouch ok so it will be done in time.
DVD/tv runs around 2k from yota. Looking local for other prices plus a few of the sites mentioned.
Fog lamps are still up in arms. Can we get them for an 01? or is it the stupid tape kind?
I looked tonight on there and god that aint going to be easy as someone had posted earlier.
As such would like some feedback maybe on tips?
Anything else worth doing for good upgrades mods?

I am going to purchase a Sienna XLE as soon as the dealer gets one in for me to test drive. My question is that I am interested in having satellite radio but Toyota does not offer it as an accessory. Has anyone had a satellite radio installed and also, which system ( XM or Cirius ) is better.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Take a look at XM & Sirius Satellite Radio for opinions and recommendations.

Anyone knows if there is any aftermarket that can make the Sienna suspension firmer. I have a 1999 XLE, the suspension now is kind of too soft for me ( 77000 miles ) I replaced the front struts with KYB's but still too soft, should I also replace the springs at the same time or anything out there that will do the job. thanks

in response to post 214, we have the audiovox system. It was installed by the dealer when I bought the van and told him we wanted DVD added. What I didn't know and you should, is you will lose your rear audio capability. You will only be able to listen to the DVD or CDs played on the DVD on the headphones. I am upset because nobody asked me if I wanted DVD OR rear seat audio and I didn't know I would lose it.

I ordered this when I ordered the van last week. It is going to be installed at the factory. Is this work like those aftermarket alarm plus the flashing headlights and horn? Someone mentioned the glass breakage sensor. Is it part of the system?

I have recently ordered a new 2004 Sienna with the factory DVD player. Does anyone know who makes these players for Toyota and what model it is? Specifically, I am trying to determine if you can play a DVD-R/DVD+R/DVD-RW/DVD+RW formatted DVD in this player? I know some players do and others don't. I am trying to determine if it would be good to buy a DVD recorder (and if so, what format recorder is necesssary) to transfer my kids VHS tapes over. Alternatively, I might need to buy all these titles again on DVD if it does not. Many thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this issue for me.

Anyone know the specs for the headlights (low and high beam) on 04 Sienna?

I have been reading that the Weathertech cargo mat (behind 3rd seat) when installed will not allow the seats to be folded back. I emailed then and asked. They replied that the seats can be folded down. Does anyone have any experience with this as of recent? Also they have just updated their webpage and increased their prices: Black $79, all others $119. That is a big price increase. I did find the grey for $71 on another site. Thanks...
  • kmeadkmead Member Posts: 232
You can fold the seat down, after removing the mat. This will likely work to your favor as you don't want you nice clean seat sitting on a plastic liner that has spilled OJ or other sticky substance on it.

I have seen pics that show a seat folded onto the mat and due to the design of the folding mechanism Toyota made, it is impossible to create a mat with high sides that won't be folded along the one edge by the folding seat.

I think its pretty easy to just pull the mat up and leave it on top of the folded seat.

I have also seen a nice use of a few Rubbermaid containers that fit in the area very well. I have seen some with 10 gallon and others use the 16 gallon containers. I think I will likely use a waterproof mat with Rubbermaid containers.

Hello, I just found this board and I guess all I can do is VENT my experience with wanting a Sienna LE with package #7 (safety package, adds traction control, etc.) and package #11. Dealer insists I can't do this unless I go up to the 8 passenger AWD or the XLE, which is adding so much stuff I don't want. There must be others out there who want the safety and also the upgraded entertainment system but NOT all the other stuff that would jack the price up over the $35,000 range. If I can get over my irritation with Toyota for their option packaging, I'm going to buy the LE with package #7 and upgrade the stereo & add DVD, although I would much prefer the factory installed. I'd love to hear if anyone elese has done a similar upgrade, how it turned out, and how much it cost.

    Thanks for listening!!

I just got my 04 XLE LTD with Nav and DVD. It comes with a pair of wireless head phone. Is there any way that I can play the DVD with the existing speakers in the car? Thanks.
  • kmeadkmead Member Posts: 232
I believe you can get a LE 7 with package 7. Check with some other dealers. The issue comes down to wait time, many people will not wait 3-4 months for the product they want.

Most dealers want to sell just what they have or is most available.

There are some alternatives to drop down DVD screens. Among the many choices are small portable ones, larger portables that hang from head rests or even head rest mounted screens like those from visualogic. Putting one head rest screen in on the passenger seat can be seen by all rear passengers and they don't have to crane their necks to see it.

I bought an inexpensive DVD player at Target and 2 PS1s with screens for my two boys. They now have the choice of a movie, PS1 games, or a CD of their own choosing. Altogether I spent 370 bucks. Depending on what you want you may want more. I couldn't justify having a much more expensive entertainment system in my car than I have in my house. That and being able to take my system to any car I own with no installation hastles. Also if any part fails, I can just buy another or add another for my 3rd child (who I didn't have when I bought the rest of the stuff).

Took a while for us to figure out, since it wasn't stated in the manual. Just play the DVD as usual, and the press the CD button on the front stereo head unit twice. First push will play the CD changer, next push will show "AUX", which pipes the DVD player audio through. But the audio volume is rather low for some reason.

I am trying to find out the make and compatible media as well. So far I have tried Ricoh/Ritek DVD+R and DVD+RW, both shows "DVD Error". It did play VCD recorded on some generic CD-R fine though.

I believe the DVD problem is due to media type. Someone has suggested me DVD-R, but my burner can't do -R. So I am going to try some other DVD+R media brands.

I tried a pair of Sylvania "Cool Blue" lights, and it was a good improvement over stock. The 04 Sienna takes 9006 bulb type.

For the ultimate light, HID is the way to go. They provide 300% increase in light intensity. True HID light system comes with ballasts that boosts voltage to 60+ volts. These are the blue/purple lights you see on Lexus/Mercedes/BMW. However, the system is not cheap, costing between $400 to $600 just in parts. Dont bother buying those $40 bulbs that claims to be HID. They are usually just regular bulbs coated with blue tint. Real HID bulbs are clear, blue lights are from the internal gas ignited to higher energy state.

There are many retrofit kits available on the net which comes with bulbs with 9006 fittings, but these are not DOT approved for street use. However, 04 Sienna has the proper shield for the HID retrofit to aim properly, so you wouldn't blind everybody in front of you. Installation should be fairly straightforward.

    without sacrificing rear audio controller...

Audiovox makes a console which does the trick. (you can check out audiovox homepage and you will see they show a 04 sienna to illustrate this). The DVD player which I am buying is VOD715 with the proper insert and I should be good to go.
  • mtnbrflmtnbrfl Member Posts: 7
I looked at the Audiovox website and the LCD/DVD Players PROV710/715/716/916 looks very cool. They are a little on the expensive side ($1000 for 7", $1300 for 9").

The Audiovox site only list Dodge, Ford and GM overhead consoles. Seems odd since they use photos of the 2004 Sienna. I did find a online retailer that has the Sienna console, part number is 1187097PL (Shale/Tan) and 1187098PL (Pewter/Gray). I still can't find the appropriate insert that fits the console to the lcd/player. Audiovox website's listing for inserts is useless - doesn't tell you which insert goes with which lcd/player. Anyone else have any luck?

call audiovox tech support. They will help you out with all the part numbers. I have the part # ( at work) which I can post tomorrow.

Anyone put one of these one? I see Toyota does make them for the 2003 Sienna...
  • indyjonesindyjones Member Posts: 49
Audiovox makes it. You have two choices: ( there may be more)

    1. one piece unit ( DVD built into the display unit)

    VOD701 - DVD player/screen
    1187097PL ( tan color console)
    1187085PL ( tan color insert)

    2. 2 piece unit ( dvd player is installed under the seat or in the trunk..)

    VOH701 - display unit
1187097PL ( console, same as above)
    1187021PL (insert for VOH701, tan)

You can call 1-800-645-4994 (audiovox application support) to get other colors model #s)

    Hope this helps.

I just turned down an XLE with Navi and DVD for a Ltd. without Nav, but with DVD because the XLE did not have traction control and stabilizer. I felt the safety package was more important than the Navigation system. However, I would like to purchase a Navi. system to put in the car. A portable would be fine, as long as it talks to me. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks Marlene

I can't remember if I posted this to this site or not. Has anyone installed an aftermarket tranny cooler to their Sienna yet? I have an '01 XLE that supposedly came with a towing package but didn't have any kind of modifications done to warrant that package (ie. tranny cooler, overload springs, hidden hitch). Down here in the Southwest the surface temps jump to over 120+ degrees and kill automatic transmissions a little quicker than normal. I'm wondering if anyone has installed an aftermaket tranny cooler where the lines didn't hang below the core support. I don't want to lose ground clearance for the fact that my wife may hit a parking block and pinch a line if the lines have to be ran below the core support. Is there such a thing as a kit where the lines run through the core support w/o losing any ground clearance?? If so, fill me in on the details on how it was done. I want to minimize of having to cut any sheetmetal if possible.

On a few other web sites I frequent, the Garmin Street Pilot 2610 has gotten good reviews. It is user installable, transferable between cars and gives verbalized directions as well as a map.

Go to www.garmin.com for more information.

I finally got to drive a Sienna this weekend. Ours is scheduled to arrive at the dealer sometime this week. I realized that in order for me to be able to get this 4 ft 10 body into the back seats without struggling, I'm going to need a running board. Is that something I should have the dealer do before I pick up the van, or should I have it done after I bring the van home, and if so, do I need to go to a local Toyota dealer to have it done? Thanks Marlene

My 2002 Sienna's OEM tires (Dunlop 215/65) are looking a little worn after only 19k miles (I expected them to last a little longer than that). Was wondering what other folks have chosen for replacement tires, and also did you stick with 215/65 on the 15-inch rims? What about 225/60 on the stock rims? Also, any recommendations for winter tires on the '02 Sienna?

    Thanks .... Chris

I have seen discussion about aftermarket fog lights for 2004 Sienna, but has anyone had OEM fog lights installed after they bought their van? I have an LE and would like to install some lights in the same location as the XLE's are. Any ideas or places to look? Thanks...

Here's one for the forum. Didn't know where else to post it. I have a new '03 Sienna purchased in the spring. I'm cheap so it's just CE trim. I was looking at the dash board and all the plugged up non-used control button slots and it got me thinking about the heated seats. Looking under the front seats, I see large clusters of wires coming out of the floor and going into the seats themselves. They look excessive for just the occupant butt sensors. Does anyone think it's possible that the heating elements are installed in all the front seats as well as the wiring but unless you pay for the package you don't get the button to control them? After I pried off the switch cover I see there is a wiring harnass ready to accept a button. Thought I'd bounce it off the board.

anyone heard of a Y jack for an FM modulator (i,e two separate inputs to the antenna).
I already have a CD changer with an FM modulator. I am in the process of installing a DVD player. I am told that the CD changer would have to be disconnected in order to install the FM modulator which came with the DVD player. Any insights. any website i could take a look at. thanks
  • mayerofrfmayerofrf Member Posts: 33
    deepan,
I don't see why you can't run the FM modulators in series. I think that would work unless they are both operating off of the same frequency. If your current FM modulator is connected to the CD changer by RCA jacks, then you may need some kind of low level switcher that can probably be found at a Radio Shack.

I bet no one's heard this one before! I have a friend who bought a used 2002 Sienna and the previous owner had installed an after-market drop-down DVD player. He has offered to give it to us for our 2004, as he really doesn't need it, but how would we go about switching it from his van to ours? Would it leave a big hole in his ceiling? Would I lose my rear seat audio? I'm not even sure where to take the vans to make the switcheroo.

If anyone out there has ideas on this, I'd love to hear them! Thanks!
  • mayerofrfmayerofrf Member Posts: 33
Depending on how the flip-down screen was mounted, he may have a nice hole in the ceiling, especially from the wiring. To put in in your van, you may lose the rear seat audio unless you go down the wireless headphone route. Also with a flip-down monitor, you may lose rear view visibility. I'm a big fan of doing the monitors in the headrests myself with heavily tinted windows. No screen to flip down and possibly break. Also the trim ring from the 2002 van may not be the same as your 2004. But the price is right. Depending on where you're from, I would suggest looking around at mobile audio stores in the Yellow Pages. Ask if they do video install. You may not get the response you're looking for on install cost, since you didn't buy the equipment from that store. But these stores are going into remote starter install season and business is starting to slow down a little. Work the deal with them and get an installation warranty.
