    Has anyone here that has bought their Liberty in the last few months talked with their dealer about the new warrenty offer? I talked with my brother and he didn't know anything about them offering it retroactivly. Bummer for us! Although, it is only on the powertrain. So it's not as good of a deal as it seems.

    Hi all. I’ve spent several evenings building my Project Liberty. Starting with the Liberty Sport 4wd’s base price of $17,960, mixing and matching different options (at MSRP) with and without the 27b package. My target price is 25K (tax included). I’m trying to fit-in the Sunroof with all the meaty off-road items.

    Project Liberty:
    MSRP Base Price==17,960
    27B package-Inc
    Air Conditioning
    Conv Grp 1
    Pwr Conv Grp
    Pwr Windows
    Full Size Spare
    Roof Rack
    Floor Mats
    Tilt Steering======1670

    3.7L V6===========850
    AutoTrans=========825
    ABS Brakes=======600
    AM/FM & CD======125
    Eng Block Heat=====40
    Select-Track=======395
    Trac-Lock Dif======285
    Tow Group========325
    Sunroof==========700

    Sub Total======23,775
    NV Tax=========1,724

    Grand Total====25,499

    Do you think the dealer will go for 25,000 even?

    Note: The Off-Road Pkg for ($765) is not included. The above items include all that the Off-Road Pkg has with the exception of: (2) Skid plates - fuel tank & transfer case, and (2) tow hooks.

    I plan to add the missing skid plates later, and get one for the transmission as well. Now if they could throw in the Security Group I’d be much happy!

    Now for the MYSTERY Liberty Model - I called my insurance co to get a quote. She asked me for the make, I said Jeep, then she asked what model, I said Liberty, then she asked what trim; Limited, Sport, or Scrambler. Hmmm!!!

    You priced your Liberty out with all the msrp prices. You should've priced it out with all the invoice prices. Now, the tow group that you picked requires that you get the off-road group. You'd have to get the other tow group that costs less, but gives you the same thing.

    The invoice price on the Liberty that you want is $22,914.00. Now if you take that price and add 11% for TT&L, you get $25,434.00. That's just an approximate price for the TT&L.

    Depending on what you want to pay and the dealer you got to, you might pay some additional fees, that might add up to an additional $338.00. So now you're at $25,772. That price is what the dealer is going to call invoice because their fees are included on the invoice sheet.

    You might try to deal with the fleet or internet sales manager. They'll usually give you the best price. I don't know if you'll be able to get it to $25,000 even, because then the dealer would be losing money, maybe a little too much for their liking. But you can always try, and maybe you can give a little on the options. Hope this helps.

    Word of advice... never never never pay MSRP. Especially for a brand new vehicle like the Libery. I bought (or should say ordered) a Jeep Liberty Limited Edition and did not pay any where near the MSRP. I told the dealer that I am willing to pay 3% over invoice and that was it. He agreed. I should also mention that I do have a trade-in worth $5800. I finally got this after visiting three other Jeep dealers in my area. The rest all told me that they would not negotiate on the sticker price because I had a trade, so I left. I was prepared to sign the papers that day, but they didn't want to bite. That was their loss. Just keep in mind NEVER NEVER pay the MSRP.

    Just purchased a Dark Garnet Red Sport with Command-Trac, 27B, ABS, dark-window tinting and upgraded stereo after selling a Ford Explorer Sport. Got the Liberty for $150 over invoice. This vehicle will basically be used for commuting in the NY/NJ metro area and I wanted to have something suitable for winter driving (with 4 doors). All in all, the build quality of the Liberty versus the Exp. Sport blew me away. Am picking up the truck on Thursday PM and would like to thank ALL the posters to this forum and the moderator for helping me make an informed, confident decision. Absolutely no buyer's remorse here . BRING ON THE BLIZZARD OF THE CENTURY!!! I'm ready... :-)

    I finally got to order my Liberty. A stone white limited for about 40- dollars over invoice.
    Thanks to Edmunds and reading all your wonderful advice. I checked around, read up & off I went back to the first dealer I test drove with. Told him what I was quoted he came down 200- to beat it and it's a deal. I will get the 7yr warr., military rebate and free oil changes for the life of ownership! I could not be happier. (Unless 0% int. comes along!) He seems to think it may be here in 4 - 6wks, but only time will tell. Thanks again to all that ad to this forum!

    Can anyone tell me what the correct tire pressure for a Liberty that has the 235 R16 tires? On my drivers door it has specifications for the 215 size tires(33psi), but mine was ordered with the bigger 235 size tires. On my tires it says 44psi is max pressure. When I checked the tire pressure the other day(the rear driver one looked low), all tires were at 30psi. I've never added air in the tire since I bought my Liberty just over 3 months ago. Please help! Thanks in advance for any responses!

    I didn't get the ABS with my Liberty.. I know they made some changes to it, but I hated the way the ABS worked in my 96 Cherokee sport. 4 wheel drive in the snow going down a hill would scare the hell out of me when the ABS would kick in.. It really felt instead of anti-locking, they would lock.. I didn't like that at all. Also there was some good links to articles posted previously about if they really make that much of a difference. I'm not knocking ABS at all, but I am not worried about the standard power brakes.

    When it's very quiet and you have the windows down, you shift into gear and does anyone hear it kind of creek or make some kind of noise going into gear? I really wish I could verbaly make the sound but that's the best I could do. Just wanted to know if it's just my Jeep or if each Liberty does it. It's not a terribly loud noise, and you probably don't even notice it unless it's quiet or you're listening for it.

    Can anyone tell me how to track a railcar on the website? I have my railcar number and would love to be able to follow its progress as it brings my new baby to me in New York. Any help would be appreciated.

    Do you know when your Liberty was shipped? Does it have a sunroof? I ask because I have been waiting 8 weeks and the sales guy I spoke with said he was not sure when I will get my Liberty. However he said it should not be too much longer since there was a VIN # issued. Since I have the VIN # is there a way I can find out what the status for my baby is???
  • lindag47lindag47 Member Posts: 18
    The website is www.csx.com.

    To check the status of production, call 800-992-1997.

    I ordered my Liberty Oct. 10. It is being built today and should be shipped this week.

    Good luck.

    Baespro – I used MSRP prices because I couldn’t figure out (until later) why Edmunds base price for the Liberty Sport 4wd 6 cyl 4A was $19,635 compared too the manufactures base sticker of $17,960. That was a $1,675 difference. Well it appears that Edmunds includes the price of the 6 cyl & 4A into the base. The manufactures sticker excludes them, because they don’t come as standard equipment. So, I had to add them in as options. Bummer, because Edmonds doesn’t list an invoice price for them.

    The Tow Group is correct. I had to select the higher priced one because the lower price on required the Off-Road Pkg.

    What is “TT&L” – something to do with tax and license? And, why add 11%? Why not try an x% above invoice?

    If you’re looking for a skid plate, try this link.

    Gypsy116 & Ladyliberty - Congrats on you orders. Did you two quote them Edmunds invoice, or their TMV price?

    If anyone is interested, this is a link to an Excel file that you can use to price-out you new Liberty. You may have to copy and paste this one.

    Yes I have noticed it in my Liberty. Its a creak or kinda clunk sound (especially when going into reverse). I've just gotten used to it. The car otherwise rides sooo smoothe.
  • ericbwayericbway Member Posts: 19
    I found a phone number for CSX and found out my new Liberty is in Ridgefield New Jersey, about 7 miles from its destination at the dealer. From there I have no way of tracking it until it gets to the dealer. It was shipped on the first so it took 5 days from the plant to New York. The Daimler Chrysler number listed above only requires your VIN number. Gypsy call that number and follow the prompts and they can give you an estimated date of shipping, and from there a guess on when it will arrive to your dealer. And yes, my Libby has a sunroof.

    Just an FYI -- So I called DaimlerChrysler and was able to get an actual update on my Liberty Limited Edition. The guy told me that it was not even built yet, but it should go into production this week or the beginning of next. I also asked when exactly the order was placed and he said Sept 18th. This waiting is killing me. Hopefully I will get this before the snow and ice come.
  • whitetekwhitetek Member Posts: 32
    I took my Liberty to the dealers because of this "creek" noise from underneath. They told me this was completely normal and even brought another Liberty in the garage to show me that it does the same thing.

    Yes! I to noticed it, but got used to it as well. Just curious, but has anyone else noticed that when the Liberty gets warmed up that the temp gauge is right in the middle? Guess I'm not used to it; my Taurus is always in the middle of cold and the middle indicator. Another thing, the heater in this truck works way too good. I usually have to turn it off after a few minutes of leaving it on.

    So, what's the story on this new warranty. Is it normal 3 year warranty with an added 4 years on the drivetrain, or what?
  • winbrowinbro Member Posts: 235
    yes, mine has always been right in the middle.

    the heat works great, the rear floor vents are also great. however, i do notice that at this time of the year, where you need heat early in the morning, but then later on you want cooler air from the vents, when you put the temp setting lower it is very slow to respond giving cooler air. in fact i have to actually use the coolest setting to stop the heat.

    also about clunk when putting into gear, mine did that early on, either I got used to it or it has gotten better. was not a big problem in my mind though.
  • adkimadkim Member Posts: 9
    At least that is what I was told today by Fitzmall. (I bought at the end of September). The explanation was: "Unfortunately, the 7yr/100K warranty program is not retroactive. Daimler/Chrysler is doing this for a limited time to help stimulate sales and it is not a change in their standard warranty coverage."

    Would be nice to get but with luck we will not need it. No problems at all to date (1700 miles or so).

    TT&L is tax title and lisence, yes. The 11% is correct on how much it costs. I've read it on this message board and dealers have told me themselves.

    I think I had told you that you picked the wrong tow package, but I'm not sure. Maybe you should double check.

    Thanks for the link though, it's great. That 2.5" lift kit is cheap, and the shocks aren't bad either. They do have the skid plate I'm looking for and it's reasonably priced too.

    If DC comes out with a 0% or close apr offer can we refinance for that offer or would we have to have just bought it in that time frame?

    Gypsy116 & Ladyliberty - Congrats on you orders. Did you two quote them Edmunds invoice, or their TMV price?

    No, I did not even have to quote any price's from Edmunds or the TMV. I think because I went in knowing what I was talking about and knew exactly what I wanted. They must have felt there was no point in trying to BS me.
    I think that good dealing is going in with the knowledge of the product. I knew all the inv. prices for what I wanted and actually corrected some dealers as to what was standard and what was not. I am sure I surprised them a bit being female and blonde!

    I spent a great deal of time using all types of resources to figure out what the "best" price would be for my particular Liberty. However, me being a young female I did have to go through alot of BS with with the dealers around here until I found someone who was willing to make a few bucks. To tell you the truth.. I like the way this guy operated so I increased my amount over invoice just a bit. Too bad I have been waiting 8weeks for my Jeep (and it will still be another couple before it is mine).

    Yes, the heat is quite powerful. I either crack the sunroof or leave it on the lowest setting. If I have on the heated seats...I don't even need to turn on the heat. Winter....bring it on!

    PS

    A/C on hot days takes very lil time to cool off.

    I hope that my local dealers will be able/willing as yours to negotiate from the invoice price. I guess it all depends how fast the Liberty's have been selling. If they stand on MSRP, I can wait.

    Much luck on your new Lib!!!

    I called that that 800 number and they said it was shipped on 31 Oct. one day ahead of schedule. Today is the 8th of Nov. and still haven't heard from my dealer. I live in upstate NY so it's not like going across the country for delivery. I hope to hear something real soon!!

    Thanks I will look on eBay.. However I already have my wish list from the items I have found on www.jparts.com- this site seems to be one of the cheapest I have come across.

    Has anyone come across any pictures on the internet of a Jeep Liberty with the 2.5 lift kit?
  • gypsy116gypsy116 Member Posts: 53
    Your Jeep is probably in the area, but just sitting in the rail yard waiting for someone to pick it up. That is what happened with my sister. Her new vehicle sat in the railyard for about 2 weeks before anyone went to retrieve it (in Selkirk). You should check into that.
  • carguy62carguy62 Member Posts: 545
    I am suprised to hear people are waiting for their vehicles. The local dealer must have had at least 25 on the lot. Maybe he had that many because only one or two had ABS. Funny, a $26K vehicle without ABS.

    Has anyone seen this Liberty Limited 4x4 on Ebay. It's fully loaded, looks like salsa red but says it's flame red. It's got an american flag painted on both sides, a bald eagle on the hood and red, white and blue leather seats and door trim.
    It's being auctioned for the N.Y. crisis and it's only at $24,288.00 with no reserve. They say all of the work that was done cost an additional $11,000.00 for a grand total of $37,290.00.

    This Liberty looks awesome. I'd sport it in a heartbeat! It kinda makes me wish I could sell my Liberty sport and by this instead. :-(

    Anyway, check it out gang.

    I saw that Jeep Liberty on eBay this morning. Wow... is all I have to say. With the name "Liberty" and the patriotic art.. this a definitely an American vehicle. Not to mention the red,white, blue leather seat. Everyone should truly take a look at this beauty.

    I was looking around the internet for information regarding incentives and/or rebates offered with the 2002 Jeep Liberty LE. I came across a college grad incentive (-$400.00), but only on one site. Does anyone know about this? And does it apply to the upstate NY region?

    Go to the jeep website, I was there the other day and I do recall something about a college discount.

    As for the warranty for us Liberty owners that bought prior to last week....I got a definate no from my dealer today when I took it in for it's first oil change. They are basically doing the Home for the Holidays program to stimulate business and don't plan to continue it after the holidays. The incentive seems to be working, my dealer was delivering two Jeeps with the 100,000 warranty today and it's a VERY small dealership, all they sell is Jeep.
