'99 MY vehicles went out on Friday. Then, they will be staged over the next few months (so the dealers can schedule and we can stay on top of questions). With SOC - they may do the whole mail drop at once since I don't think they are anticipating a lot of customer contacts to their CS folks. I tried to find out if they received an allocation of the conditioner and it looks like they did, but I couldn't get a solid confirmation. It did puzzle some folks though (why would I want to know about Canadian customer's??) - - little did they know about my friends up north!

Is SOA offering Forester owners any assistance on rear wheel bearings? I have a 2000 with 47,xxx and the rear passenger side sounds terrible. I've made an appointment with my dealer on Tuesday to do a proper diagnosis and to complete the HG recall.

Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

for that, but I'd STRONGLY encourage you to ask the dealer for assistance - especially with such low mileage. Then, if the dealer cannot assist you, please call us or send us an e-mail via the "contact us" page at Subaru.com. Make sure you supply your VIN, dealer name and mileage. Please mention that I recommended that you send it in and ask the Rep. to review the file with me. I cannot handle the case directly (it would fall between the cracks with my current workload), but I can assist the Rep. if needed.

Thanks! I'm sure we'll be able to make you happy.

Shouldn't the bearings be covered under the 5/60 warranty?

His Forester can't be more than 5 years old and it has only 47k miles.

I had our right rear wheel bearings replaced on our Forester at Russel Subaru, no charge. The car was under 60K.

Bob, I'm scheduled to be at Russel first thing Tuesday morning.

can you get SOA to post a 3d Subaru star logo as a downloadable wall paper?? Long shot huh? I have searched everywhere but couldn't find one, and I really want one for all my pc's, badly. I ran out of ideas so I decided to ask here. anyone who knows where I can find one please help a poor obsessed guy out!

"Searched for WWP-99 Service Campaign. Results 1 - 4 of 4. Search took 2.4 seconds"

I stand corrected! Thanks, Dave. Obviously I didn't bother to search either. :-)

    Patti-

I know someone else already asked this, but I do not recall seeing an answer. If we have already had the head gasket replaced, would our vehicles be part of this service campaign? And, would we be eligible for the extension of the warranty?

    Thanks again.

  • nygregnygreg Member Posts: 1,936
you are right. That has not been fully answered yet. It only makes sense that we would be covered considering we will probably need the conditioner still.

    Here's a Photoshop job, 1024x768.

It's really just an image capture from the need-desire screensaver, but could pass as wallpaper. I did this on my laptop, so the dpi may not look right on other screens. Can do other resolutions if needed.

That is pretty close to what I was looking for. I was looking for something a bit bigger, but yours is the closest thing I have seen so far. THANK YOU!! It looks great on my monitor a work! Can't wait to try it out on my pc's at home.

with my sign-on! Mike - I'm glad the folks here hooked you up with the logo!

Head gaskets - yes - if you have an affected vehicle, you still are covered by the campaign if you've had the gaskets replaced. You get the conditioner added and a label reminding you or future owners to add it at every coolant flush. And....yes - you will get the warranty extension.

    Thanks!

My dealer replaced the rear wheel bearing today, free of charge. I am thankful that my dealer and Subaru stand behind their products--that kind of customer service breeds loyalty!

Patti, thanks again for your advice.

Does it apply to Legacys? Looked on MySubaru for Susan's car, but there was nothing about a campaign.
  • subaru_teamsubaru_team Member Posts: 1,676
to look it up. The info. is going onto My.Subaru today (I hope - glitches you know). I'm off today, but I can check for you on Tuesday.

Love to Susan and Michael please!

Does anybody on the board here deal with the My.Subaru website? I'm pretty new here, so I wasn't sure.

I've been having problems logging-on; doesn't recognize my login/password -or- my e-mail address. I wanted to log-on to see if my service records have been updated.

    Thanks!
  • dcm61dcm61 Member Posts: 1,567
I was in the site about an hour ago and had no problems logging in.

Thanks, Dave- seems like something must have happened with my account because I just tried again and no dice.

When I could get in (earlier in the week) I tried to use the "contact" form without luck, as well. Even though all the fields were filled in, it kept giving me an error. When I'd hit "send" it was telling me to enter info into fields that were already filled in.

I'll keep trying and if I still can't get in by Monday, maybe I'll try to contact someone.

    ----edit

    OK- I'm in!

But still can't use the contact form- keeps giving me a popup that says "Please enter information about your Subaru vehicle." All fields are filled-in. Oh well.

FWIW, I was able to login and view my service history just now.

today, after flushing the radiator and then flushing out the system untill the water ran about as clear as its gonna get (ran out of time). I basically filled the radiator with distilled water, turn the car on, brought it up to temp, had the heater on high for ~10 minutes, turned the car off, drain the radiator, and repeat. Did it about 5 times. The additive seems like it's just cooling system sealant, I can see cooper colored stuff suspended in the liquid. The fact that you had to shake the bottle really well before adding the stuff also made me think that its a sealant type of product. dealer made a mistake and charged me $1.50 (invoice) the regular price was $3.00. I had to talk them into selling it to me over the counter, the parts manager told me they can't sell it OTC cause there is a limited supply, go figure.
Now I just have to wait and see if any oil shows up in the coolant, should be easy to spot since the systme is C-L-E-A-N.

  • subaru_teamsubaru_team Member Posts: 1,676
I know that the initial supply is just getting to dealers and they do not have much to sell over the counter. I'm glad they took care of you. The conditioner should be plentiful within another week or so.

Dina sends a big slurpy lick to all of you, dog breath and all. I'll check tomorrow on My Subaru. Patti, maybe the NY and NJ crowd can get together with us when we come up this summer.
  • hondafriekhondafriek Member Posts: 2,984
Does the sealant have to be added by the dealer or can you opt to add it yourself and qualify for the warranty extension?

      Cheers Pat.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Good question, Pat. I'm at 59999 miles, ready for the 60k service.

Got my WWP-99 email notification today from my.subaru.com. Just wanted to let you know that the copyright date on the bottom of the email still has 2003 on it.

I got a couple "spring savings" Subaru flyers in the mail today, from SOA "Southeast Region". They had some coupons, along with a prize number to win an 04 Outback or cash prizes. What's odd is that both flyers had someone else's names but my address! Somehow, I think the customer database must have gotten scrambled. Unfortunately, the prize number is only for the person named on the flyer, so I can't even enter the contest!

Patty, we ARE going on the plant tour on June 4th (Fri) or 5th (Sat).

I don't know where everyone else was, but I stopped at the plant today on my way to Indy. I should have given Patti a call. LOL

Unfortunately, the reason for my trip down, to pick up a different tranny was unsuccessful, the seller sounded like he had everything under control, FAR from it. So the search continues... 6hrs of driving each way, for NOTHING!

Spring = a ton of activities after school and on weekends with the kids!

Pat - yes - it has to be done at the dealer to qualify for the warranty extension. Once the claim comes in to close the campaign, the trigger will set to put the warranty in place. Also, they have to add a sticker to the radiator (for future owners) to know to add the conditioner when the coolant is changed. Once the conditioner is added, they have to run the car for a bit to make sure that any external seepage is addressed.

Craig - I'm not familiar with the Southeast Region's promotion. I'll check it out and advise.

Seth - June is looking good - tentatively. The only thing that can get in the way would be any re-tooling that needs to be done (when visitors wouldn't be quite as welcome). None are anticipated in June, so....

Once our travel agent comes back to me with some details, I'll post - maybe by next week? How many of us are in? I might not be able to drive. I'll have to wimp out and fly out to meet you all.

Serge - nothin' like sloppy dog kisses! (except sloppy kid kisses!!)

Friday, June 4 is my last work day of the school year ... no taking off that day ... if it's on June 5 we can drive down either Friday night or Saturday morning

(and the next week would be even 'better')

And I'm sure I'll get a ton of folks from the tri-state area to caravan out. I may take both my Legacy and SVX to this!

I start work the Monday after, so it's imperative that Friday or Sat, and Sat sounds the best.

I don't really see any retooling at that time of the year also, though anything is possible I guess. 7-pax? Hmm, maybe we could get a peek? :D I wish. LOL

It has been a long while since I'd worked in a factory... is the plant On 24/7?

    -Dave
  • jfljfl Member Posts: 1,399
24/7 probably depends on demand. (So get off the fence and go out and buy a 2005 Legacy/Outback!)

If it's all the same, I'd prefer a "daylight" tour.

    The date fits for me.

Patti, way back in Msg 2724 in Subaru Legacy/Outback Wagons - Problems & Solutions you graciously offered to have me send in my analysis to you to pass around.

I can send it via e-mail or snail mail as I have it as a PDF as well. I can also include Dyson's comments as well. Just let me know where when you have a chance.

Coincidentally, after I mentioned to you that the mySubaru website wasn't being updated etc, it now has the information for the 04 XT, including the owner's manual.

I sent an e-mail to the web master thanking them for getting it updated, and somehow I have to think you had something to do with it as well.

    Thanks

I took my '01 Forester in to the dealer for a wheel bearing problem. It turned out the left rear WB was shot. It cost $350 to replace it. SOA wouldn't lend any assistance due to the 84K miles. I'm very disheartened by this. They did cover the whole cost of my recent head gasket repair, but I'm still out $350. Never had any such problems on any vehicle before.

Patti, if there is any way you can help (after the fact) it was case # 585945.

    Thanks (however it turns out),
