You could also buy light kit from any Honda dealership then have a reputable auto shop install them.

    Thanks, Brian,
I just bought the car, 2015 accord EX, $25000 OTD,
funny thing is that there is no destination charge or regional fee mentioned anywhere on the final document, here is the break down:

    -------------------------
    Price: $22586
    Doc fee: $80
    sales tax (9%): $2039.97
    Electronic Vehicle Registration fee: $29

    vehicle license fee $146
    Registration/transfer/titling fee: $110
    tire fee: $8.75

    final: OTD $25000
    ---------------------------

Since I insisted on the OTD price, that is what they came up with.
It only took me 20 minutes to get this price, so I guess there is still more room.

I am wondering whether the destination charge, regional fee etc are just another gimmick numbers they ( dealer, truecar...) want the consumers to believe?
    brian125 said:

@Edmunds and @kbb.com have already update there prices for 2015 from $ 790 to $820 for Accords destination charge. This price change may have just occurred this month.

True car wants you to believe regional fee's of 236 dollars is part of your deal and buy using them there price is the best deal. Dealers are not adding 236 dollars onto your price deal.

since the destination charge was not mentioned, I actually asked the finance guy where it is when I was signing the paperwork. He pointed to the $22586 number saying it was included there.
so it is still a myth to me.

Hi Brian 125, I am in El Paso (TX) area. Only 2 Honda dealers here in the whole city. The price is really tough here.
For 2014 Accord Sedan V6 Touring (white), what do you think about $30,000 OTD?
    Appreciate your input.

Supply and Demand. Dealer has match point on you. Play both dealers till the end of the month then make your best deal. What ever the outcome price wise you did the best you could with only 2 dealerships.

    Hi Brian,
Thank you for the quick feedback, Brian125.

I forgot to mentioned that the car is placed in the show room and it has 167 miles on it.

I thought the brand new car should have only 5 to 20 miles on it?
In your opinion, do I have to worry about this extra 167 miles?

    Hi Brian,

Long-time lurker here. Been reading your feeback and advice -- great stuff, thanks!

Got an offer from a dealership here for $25,999 + TTL for a 2014 Honda Accord EX-L V6. Since I'm in Texas, dealerships are closed today. That price I was quoted yesterday was "Good for today only" but somehow, I doubt it -- I'm sure they'll be willing to offer the same on Monday...what do you think?

    Invoice: $28,543
    OTD: $25,999

They were wanting $200 in documentation fees, but I'm holding out to see if they'll waive them. Not as great as some other deals I've seen posted lately.

    Should I keep pushing them?

    Thanks.

I would not worry. This vehicle probably had a few test drives maybe driven to this dealership from another location or even one of the mgrs. drove it a couple of days.

New cars usually have under 15 miles on the odometer

    Hi Brian,

    Thanks for the encouragement.

2014 Honda EX-L V6 w/ pro-pack (trunk tray, wheel locks and mud guards)
    Price: $25,810
    Doc. fee: $189
    Tax: $1,613.25
    Title/license/inspection fees: ~$125
    OTD: $27,737.25

Their first offer was $25,999 + doc. fees. I refused to pay the doc. fees so they reduced the price of the car by $189 and then added back in the doc. fees. Said they couldn't show $0 on their paperwork.

Dealership was Gillman of San Benito in South Texas.

    epikcar,

I bought the same car with same specs the other day and I managed a shade over 26100 including everything except tax, title, registration. They accidentally quoted me 25700 the first time forgetting a fee in there, and I couldn't get anyone else to agree to match that price at all. So for 26000, I have a feeling you probably left almost nothing on the table. Enjoy the ride!

hello, Brian125. I'm getting a lot of info here. Thank you so much~
Could you check how this deal is?

    2015 Accord EX-L V6 4Door w/o navi, color is Black and Black.
(comes with Mudguards, wheel Locks, Nitrogen filled tires, Trunk Tray
and this cost included in selling price)

Selling price $26,981 (including destination charge)
    DOC fee $599
    Title & Tag Reg $90
    Tax (in GA) $2038.50

    OTD : $29709

I think this is $1070 below invoice. I just wonder if there is more room to nego.
I can't guess it becuz it is 2015 accord, not 2014.

I do not have break down, asking for it now.
But the 29734 OTD dealer gave me does not come with any packages.

It's great looking color with black leather inside. According to dealer, it's the only one in town.

I am looknig at acesin's post above and it's a really nice deal. 29709 with propack.

This is a very good deal at 1130 below dealers invoice price for vehicle. .

    Here is your breakdown / Invoice price V-6, EXL, No/Nav.......28,710 ( $ 820 dest/ charge included )

    Dealer offer...................................................................................-26,981

    Doc Fess's.......................................................................................- 599

    Total.................................................................................................1130 below invoice

Dealer threw in another 200 dollars in Accessories......................+ 200

    Total..................................................................................................1330 below dealers invoice.

Invoice price to 1000 below is where most of the forum members should be shooting for on a 2015 model. Many buyers right now will not come close to 1k below invoice price right now.

Our Target price goal on Nov, 11th should be in this price range.

    @acesin,

Negotiating a lower price in any deal is possible. There are certain factors that help or hurt. Your area, the supply and demand factor play a big part in how good you may do.

Other factors that will help you make the best possible deal:

Getting more dealerships involved in the price wars, Negotiating via emails and direct calls.

Pitting one dealer against the next.

Negotiating to the very end of the month hoping your targeted dealerships need to make there monthly sales quotas. The majority of very good deals come at the end of the month.

Buying closer to the end will result in less dealership lies and pricing games.

Probably the best price you get right now in NJ. Dealers in NJ wont sell like other states are discounting. So make your best deal out of the lot.

Hi Vicky, that wasn't the car I eventually got, but I got a bunch on quotes on that car too because that was what I was originally considering. The best I saw--and this was before any actual negotiating--was about 25245 in MD. I also got something like $30 more in VA, if that helps.

Your in the target price range of almost 2k below dealers invoice price. You may be able to shave off a few more dollars at the end of the month but may risk losing out on this model, color etc. by waiting.

I have been getting quotes on the internet from a number of dealers for the 2014 Accord Sport CVT. The average is around $21,100 (excluding the fees). I have heard from a number of people that dealers don't usually give the best deals until you meet with them in person. Do you guys think that is true?
  • brian125brian125 Member Posts: 5,244

    hz101,

Yes and No to your question.

If your not a good negotiator, not prepared, don't know pricing going to the dealer to show your serious may be a better tactic. Doing your research and pre- homework is the most important factor before starting your new car search and buy . Once you do your homework gathered all the proper info , you should have a target price range to buy. This makes the buying process a lot easy to secure a good deal.

Via emails / phone calls to dealerships internet managers is the best way to buy then. . Either way works. I find in my 45 yrs. of new car buying and the last 20 plus years buying via emails and direct phone calls to each dealerships internet manager at months end nets the best results. I have purchased well over 1000 vehicles for myself, family , friends, and friends of friends.

My secret to success is knowing how and when to buy , getting as many dealerships involved in the price wars as far as I'm willing to travel. Buying at the end of the month . The day I make my phone calls to dealers is the day I'm buying the vehicle possible holding the sale with a credit card deposit to show I'm a serious buyer. I put each dealership on the spot for the sale that moment . My way is not for everyone. Many forum members have applied my advice in the Edmunds forums the past 15 years and done very well / saved a lot of money. Many forum members have done well with a simply email to dealers internet managers telling each one they can earn there business if they sell today for xxx price. That is the power and leverage you have as a buyer. I'm buying right now . DO you want this sale. You should not be asking dealers.... Give me your best price........ By doing this you get there idea of there best price and not yours . Do not beat around the bush.. Be direct and firm when you negotiate. This is the price that closes the deal today. Do you want my business.. If not I go to the next dealership.

By Sending out 20 emails your negotiating has begun. Dealers will either say No or Yes, maybe they will counter offer. The beauty is your doing this in the comfort of your own home buying on your terms.

I always recommend the newbie buyers to start there buying process by the 3rd week of any month. The first 3 weeks is when you do your test drives, put together your financing, make a list of targeted dealerships Internet mgrs. with names, numbers, and email contacts. A listing of how much each dealers doc fee charges are is very important also. ? Now on the day you start your buying process you go down the line with emails and calls. Eliminate the bad dealers, the ones that lie one by one. You will always find a good handful of dealerships bidding for your business if you buy this way.

Once you get a feel of the buying process you could buy at months end with more confidence.

    Good luck

I just got a little confused when I saw the range of prices given to me by the dealers. One gave me $19,900 while another gave me $21,600. Unfortunately the one who gave me the best quote does not have the color I want. Therefore I am hoping that the others would be willing to match that quote.

    2015 Accord pricing.

Invoice to 1000 below dealers invoice should be most buyers target price range. This price range is after taken dealers doc fee charges into consideration. You will see some posts where better pricing in other states can be achieved. Not everyone will get a price that low. Don't worry Concentrate getting the lowest price in your targeted area.. The more dealerships you get involved the better you will do price wise.

If I'm buying a 2015 Accord here is what I'm looking to achieve as a target price. .

Invoice price minus the 500 dealer cash incentive ( plus any other rebates and incentives ) minus the 2% dealer hold back on my model then I'm going to minus the dealers doc fee charge.

What ever that total number is represents my starting price range to buy today with all my targeted dealerships.

Honda's.......................... Hold-back is 2% of the Base MSRP.

Use this formula when you have no clue...... What a good selling price is on any new vehicle. With great forums like this one you have a big advantage knowing pricing from across the country. Not only is the above price formula achievable but when you see across the country prices even lower than the formula that means dealers are getting more hidden incentive money from the manufacturers that we are not aware of .................... Lower your offer.

Here is a example of figuring a target price on a 2015 EXL V-6 model in NY.

Invoice price .......................27,890 ....( destination charge not incl.)

    minus dealer cash .................- 500

    minus holdback 2%...............- 558

    minus NY doc fee's .................- 75
    .........................................................................

...............................................$1133 will be subtracted from this models invoice price.

Can I get 1133 dollars below invoice in the NY area. Probably not. But this is my starting point and I will work down from this number if it can't be achieved.

The vehicle selling price of $ 29,268 is a high offer ? does this price include destination charge of 790? If it does than your at 2135 below dealers invoice price making it a much better deal.

Note : Destination charge has to be paid by all buyers its not part of the formula. I like to add it to my models invoice price then negotiate that number down with dealers. This puts you and dealers on the same page with pricing making any deal less confusing.

I've been quoted for $21,300 OTD in Houston for a 2014 Accord LX Sedan, with 0 addons... so far it's either this or the more expensive 2015 model, and no one else seems to have it in stock. Any thoughts on this?

I think $21,300 OTD is a good deal. The best I have been able to do for the 2014 Accord Sport is around $21,500. But the tax rate here in Delaware is just 2.75%.

You guys need to breakdown your deals so other members can help you. OTD pricing is a final number and leaves the rest of the prices a guessing game. Read prior post on vehicle breakdown then repost.

Alright, I just got the OTD but I can break it down with minor accuracy loss. Here it is for a 2014 Accord LX Sedan:
    Car: $18,900
    Destination Fee: $790
    Tax (6.25): $1,181.25
    Vehicle Inventory Tax: $45.14
    License Fee: $77.30
    Inspection & Title Fee: $56.75
    Documentary Fee: $125.00
This comes out to $21,175, but I'm guessing there's some add-on that's adding $125 to make it $21,300.

    Dear all,
    I am in Seattle/Washington area. I was quoted an Accord 2014 EX for 22912.00. Doc/Tab around $300. Plus tax 9%, it's around $25,300.

This is quoted directly via email. I have not yet negotiated the price. Is is a good price or should I push for more ?

    Thanks
