I am getting an offer from McDavid Honda of Frisco in Texas for 2015 Accord Sport for $24650 OTD. That includes mud guard, pin strip, all season floor mats, cargo tray, door edges and tinted windows. Is that a good deal? They can do around $23500 for 2014 Accord Sport but i think around $1000 for 2014 vs. 2015 is not worth the cost.

Its a excellent price but you have not provide me with the proper vehicle price info . It includes all car accessories. Which ones?

OTD pricing is a guessing game to this forum . I have no clue what your states sales taxes rate is or how much in taxes you paid to get you to that 20,500 number you posted . Below is the proper price info needed to help you

    RE- POST

    Agreed selling price ??

was Dest charge included its.................$ 790

    Dealers doc fee charge?

If you has addition added accessories thrown into this deal which ones were added. ?

Then I could break down your deal.

Michigan if you could get 2k below that is real good. your deal right now is 1742 below invoice. Not many have done better than 2k below. Pricing depends on dealer stock and there incentives

    Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a lowest deal of 2014 Accord LX in Seattle, Washintgon, and the current lowest quote is $21,980 OTD without any accessories. Washington has 9.5% of sales tax, $ 410 of licensing an doc. fee. Is it good price to buy? I'm trying to push the dealers, but mostly they don't have any intention to beat it. Tell me what you think!

Destination Charge 790 are included. Then my price would be 21,980 - 410(doc. licen) - 1871 (tax) - 790 ( destination ) = 18,909. Is it far under the invoice price of 2014 Accord LX?

    ted_seattle ,

LX invoice.............. 20,829. Your target price should be 1700 below dealers invoice low end and up to 2500 high end. If your area does not fall into these numbers buy the 15 model and shoot for invoice price to a couple hundred below.

If dealers doc fee is 410 to get the 1700 below number your target price needs to be 2100 below the 20,829 invoice price. Always compensate dealers doc fee charge in your target price. Making it a wash on the final bill of sale.

    good luck

Helpful information. Thanks all. Last month (mid September) I bought a 2014 Honda LX Sport CVT for $20,467 plus the doc fee and got the .9% for 60 financing. MSRP was 25,305. Emailed several dealers and told them I was looking for the most aggressive price possible and was able to have a dealer closer to me match the best of the bunch. They tried to make up for their losses in the finance office but left there with the same price I went in there with on my mind. Do make sure you read everything over though I made the guy redo "ALL" of the paperwork as they made a mistake on the contract date.

Oh ya for what it is worth, I want to share a little of my advice with everyone. Do not buy with any emotion (zero - temporarily change into a robot with a car buying task to complete). Know more about the car and prices before ever stepping foot into a dealership. Get an idea on where you might get the best deal. Dealer A and B can be side by side but one of them is doing better/worst than the other and THIS may separate them by thousands. Find this out by listening to their ads. They will produce more ads and local incentives if business is slow or they are trying to move cars. Likewise watch their inventory if you have the time. Look at their vin numbers and compare to others. Those last few digits may tell you a story on how old most of their stock is.

Lastly, I try not to be mean to anyone but none of them are your friends or will be coming over to your summer BBQ to check on your new car experience. Most rotate from one dealership to the next. Sales reps become sales managers, and those that are really awesome at selling end up in the finance office. Those people are likely the best there are at their jobs in the whole dealership.

What is funny is the people that I appreciate most are never to be seen; reps from internet marketing companies that are throwing low prices at you from time to time to get you to come in. I tested this once with two different email addresses and asked about the same exact car on one lot and got two different people and two different prices. Hmm.

If you are here on this forum, you are doing your research. Good for you and me! Thanks again and good luck to all with their shopping.

The  car-buying trifecta worked wonders for me...  The loan officer at my credit union in Tampa, Florida said she had never seen a loan to value as low as mine on a Honda without cash down.

So the trifecta: (1) COSTCO auto program, (2) last day of month (September 30th), and (3) buy two cars at once.

I'm no pro at this, in fact I am terrible at negotiating.  With Costco preset price - none needed.  I did not add any additional items to the standard equipment and did not add Honda financing to the equation either.  I left no room for them to stick it to me.

I also test-drove the cars before contacting Costco so that once I found out which dealership I would be dealing with, there would be as little face time as possible.  In fact, when I arrived at Auto Nation Honda in Clearwater, Florida, I was in and out within 15 minutes to see the Costco price and then it was off to the credit union to pick up the two checks.

    Here's what I got:

Car 1 - 2014 CR-V EX-L - silver with black leather.  Dealer had added pin strip and some plastic mud flaps and door guards (which I told them I wouldnt pay for - and didn't). Price OTD - $26,533.86

    Car 2 - 2014 Accord EX-L - silver with black leather.  Price OTD - $27,958.75

I'm sure others have done much better, but I am quite happy.  Best I've ever done and easiest transaction ever.

    Keep it simple!

  • jimbo1967jimbo1967 Member Posts: 4

Actually, switch the prices.  I paid $27,958.75 for the CR-V and $26,533.86 for the Accord.

    Nice job Jim.

I always say buying any vehicle you want to go in with the mind set of getting a fair price and not getting ripped off. Most buyers are very happy buying like this. you can't ask for more.

Your silver w/ blk leather CRV is sharp looking.

    enjoy both

    Hey all,

I finished my deal a while ago. It was not far below. What I paid is 2k below invoice. Am I correctly calculating?

Base price : 19316.16+149=19,465.16(door edge guards)
License, TItle, Reg fee : 177.25
    Sales Tax : 1907.59 ( = 9.8%*19,465.15. Huge!!!!! )
    Doc fee : 150
    OTD : 21,700
    Price Dealer earned : 21,700 - 1907.59 - 177.25-790(destination charge) = 18,825
    Invoice price : 20,829
    Below the invoice - 2,004

No financing option was included. I tried to push down the price, but dealers in WA were somewhat stubborn.. 50 bucks per each dealer went down, so final dealer offered the best shot. While preparing the contracts, other dealer called me but I just ignored it. Maybe someone who has better stamina might do better than me. Thanks for your advice Brian!!

I'm pursuing a 2014 Honda Accord EX (CVT) 2.4L 4 door with a cloth interior in Sothern California. I was given a price of $22,500 plus tax (1,693.00), license and title with an out the door price of $24,561.25. I don't have a bill of sale, but was told that's the best our local Internet Sales Manager from Barber Honda can do. I spoke with another dealer in San Luis Obispo and she said the lowest they could go was $23,500. She seemed a little disbelieving of the price I was quoted here in town...its $2,000 below invoice. Suggestions?

well, our 3 week car buying saga has mercifully come to an end. we picked up our new 2015 EX-L sedan 4cyl, no nav at the dealership today for 24,993 plus 429 doc for $1365 below invoice. we could have had the 2014 at same dealership for $2421 below invoice if we had acted faster while the 2014 of our choice was available, but in the end we're happy with the 2015.

i did not realize the 2015 4cyl EX-L now come with home link for our garage door opener and 3yr / 36K free roadside assistance from Honda included. this is an upgrade from the 2014 4cyl.

previously, home link was only available on the V6 EX-L.

anyway, my thanks to you Brian for all your help here on the forum, we have not purchased a car since 2000 so it was good to have you as our tutor going into the mysterious world of new car pricing.

    best regards,
    ~ Paul

Thanks for that. I bought at Lynnwood honda. I really wish to share the manager's name I talked with, but I'm a bit concerned about the privacy. Sorry for that. But bring your lowest quote and find someone who has been working since 1998.

My final tip is, to beat the price, you must bring any written OTD to dealer. If not, they'll never try to beat it down. Although I stopped at Lynnwood, I would strongly recommend Burien, too. Once you bring any OTD price, he will beat it. But I was quite fatigued with 2 days of negotiation...

Good luck to all of you! I'll keep watching and will give any tips for WA.

Hi folks - I'm in the market for a 2014 EX-L i4 no navi. The best quote i've received in the Portland OR area is $25K + DMV fees (no tax in OR). I'm not seeing prices in the range of Bartlesville for the same vehicle. Is this a good deal? Seems like there's still quite a bit of stock - most dealers have at least a few but don't seem to be willing to drop.

Why are we now allowing contact last names to be given? Why not? If a salesperson wants to have their name removed, we will do so after they've specifically requested it of Edmunds.

We are still not allowing contact information (phone or email) to be published, however.

Target price 2k below dealers invoice on your model.

Then add 790 destination charge to that number.

add dealers doc fee charge ? inquiry with each dealership you call

Apply your states tax rate to above number ?

Then Add dealers fee for dmv charges .............. tags and tittle.

you need to ask dealerships how much there doc fee charge is ? then ask for dmv fee's.

This is what I was offered:

    2014 Accord EX-L 4cyl 4 dr, no Navi

    Sale Price: $23,290
    Protection Package: $499
    Door Edge Guards: $199
    Destination & Delivery: $790
    Subtotal: $24,778
    Sales Tax (6.25%): $1,548.63
    Inventory Tax: $49.09
    Title Fee: $33
    License Fee: $57.75
    State Inspection: $23.75
    Road & Bridge Fee: $10
    Document Fee: $125
    TOTAL DRIVE OUT: $26,625.22

What do you think? I don't need one right away, and I know it's generally better to wait until the end of the month, but this seems like a good deal.
  • brian125brian125 Member Posts: 5,244
    tcow24,

This is a good deal. Even after considering dealers doc fee, overpriced pro pack and door edge. I view your deal at 2095 below dealers invoice.

If you wanted to play hard ball with this dealer your area where you could knock off a few more dollars is getting another 250 off pro pack another 100 off door edge and dealers 125 doc fee.

What I would do on the day your ready to buy vehicle is call this dealer on the phone . Tell them you are considering buying same vehicle without added accessories from dealer x.. make sure you mention dealership by name. Tell them to split the cost of the door edge and pro pack and you will buy from them that moment.

your question cant be answered from most of the forum members. Why??? Only someone in your state that knows your states tax rate , dealerships doc fee charge, dmv fee's, and other OTD pricing can help you.

Your target price to buy a 2014 lx model should be starting at 2k below your models invoice price. Read thru prior pages to educate yourself on area pricing and dealerships. .
