    Hi Guys, new guy here.
I am getting few quotes for $24,150 on a 2014 Accord EX-L V-4 4DR in the Chicago area. is that a good price? I have asked the questions @brian125‌ mentioned in his post regarding the doc fee and destination charges but waiting for answers. Do you guys think it is a good price? And what is a good price right now for 2014 Honda Accord EX-L. Any tips would be really helpful. Thanks!
  • brian125brian125 Member Posts: 5,244
Your at 2500 below invoice price with the $24,150 number.

If destination was not included in this price minus 790 off that number. Then minus dealers doc fee charge when you find out. . If the destination charge was added close the deal its a very good price.

    good luck

Saturday we put a deposit on a 2014 EX-L sedan 4cyl, no nav at hoffman honda in CT for 23,800 plus their 429 doc we ended up at 2421 below invoice. they still have to bring the car in from another dealer but hopefully things will work out. had to drive one hour away to the dealership but if it all works out it was worth it.
    i'll update later.

    Hi Everyone,
I wanted to post my deal that I plan to sign on today/tomorrow. It's in northern IL (Chicago northwest suburbs) for a 2015 Honda Accord EX-L V6. My price is $27,880.00 with destination fee included. I was able to find my exact color choices that is being delivered tomorrow and get it that amount below invoice.

Not sure if this helps others. Just wanted to throw that out there.

Anyone bought Honda Care? Is it worth to buy it? I am planning to buy the 8 years/120,000 mi no deductible for my new Accord, but saw some forum said that it is useless. So confused.. any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

First, I would like to thank Brian125 and everyone here for the assistance thus far in my quest for a good price on a 2014 Accort Sport 6M. I've been at this since the first week of Sept., and have it down to two options (I am in South FL):
2014 Sport 6M $22,200 OTD (all fees and taxes) 0.9% finance.
2015 Sport 6M $24,250 OTD (all fees and taxes) 1.9% finance.
I am taking delivery on one of the two tomorrow, and am having a hard time seeing the better choice (both cars identical gray/blk, '14 has dealer installed options I dont want). Any feedback would be appreciated.

I posted this earlier last week. It applies to you also. Your post leaves us guessing on price

1st off welcome...................... we will help you

We try to talk about and negotiate below invoice price numbers in this forum. Only because we know the exact invoice price. This is what everyone has to pay .. OTD numbers are meaningless to everyone in this forum who are not buying in your state. Your States taxes, DMV fees, and doc fee's are different then here in NY, or Chicago, Florida. etc.

Re-post this info for me before you go down to the dealership and waste your time. . Call dealer if you have to find out numbers. .

Find out what the selling price of your vehicle is

Does this price include the 790 destination charge?

What is this dealers doc fee charge ?

These 3 questions are the key factors which helps determine a good / bad deal with any new car purchase .

Thanks for the reply, Brian. For the '15, vehicle plus dest ($790) is 22,000 even, or about $630 below invoice. They wont budge on $600 dealer service fees. The negotiated price is attractive, I am just not keen on high fees.
'14 is murkier numbers, as they have not given me a 'bill of sale' style breakdown on the 22,200 OTD- my estimation is somewhere between 2100-2300 below invoice (if dealer accessories are ignored).
Leaning towards the 2015, since I still cant get clear number breakdown on the 2014.

Get your best prices for the warranty and RE- - post in here.

How many miles do you plan on driven this car yearly?
How long to you plan on keeping vehicle?

You could buy vehicle and add warranty later. .

All Hondas are covered for 3 yrs. 36k.

Most buyers should be able to negotiate Invoice price on the 2015. That's were your at. Try to get a couple hundred more off for the 15. Then make the deal. You will be driven a 15 model for 3 months in 2014.

Accord, Exl with Nav, Invoice price = 27,479 plus 790 dest charge = 28,269

We are seeing some very very good pricing going on right now on 2014 models yesterday and today.

Good job for those of you who waited till months end. It has paid off. End of the 3rd quarter ends tomorrow for all car companies. Hopefully your dealers are behind with sales and looking to make more incentive money.

Long day of negotiating. Thanks for all the tips guys. Day started with my closest dealer telling me that his quote of $24150 didn't include any fees (so +$790+$400). But since few others quoted me at $24160 including the destination fee (+$3-$400 for doc fee) When I asked him about a counter offer his manager called me and told me that he can't give an offer unless I come there. But thats when I remembered @brian125‌ 's tips to get the offer in hand first. When I told him I won't travel unless you give me an offer the guy went nuts.
Told me I have too much time and i should just come there since I am enticing offers anyways. Also told me that he knows the truth about the games buyers play. I actually told the guy that because of things like these people like me don't come to his dealership. And I would take my business somewhere else even if I have to pay $500 higher. But then the guy literally said and I quote "that's not true, you will still come here because you will not get the deal when you go to other dealer" I just hung up on that prick.

Finally I have two good pricing options from three dealers - $23,800 and $24000 and I am trying to get to $23,600 by tomorrow. Please tell me if these are good offers and is anyone getting something better due to Q3 close?

Or should I try to negotiate more? there is a dealer that may go $200 below this price but is 1 hour drive and I don't feel like taking the risk.

The best price is what you can negotiate with 15 to 20 dealerships in your area. This then represents your area selling market price.

You should try to be in the target price range of 1500 to 2000 below dealers invoice price in a bad priced NJ market on Accords.

    Brian,

Looking at a deal for an Accord EX CVT 4-dr sedan for $22,400 sales price + $250 doc fee, includes $790 destination charge. As I am viewing this, that is $2,428 below dealer invoice ($24,288 + $790 - $2,428 = $22,650). Am I calculating this right?

Good one to pull the trigger on? Cincinnati market.

    jjgoldy5,

Invoice with dest/ charge on the ex model 24,288 minus offer 22,400 = 1888 below dealers invoice, minus 250 doc fee = 1638 below dealers invoice.

Get more dealerships involved before making this deal.

@brian125‌ i took your advice and went to the closer deal without having to worry about the extra $200. But when i went there, they jacked up the price by $200 for stupid accessories and I walked away. Decided to drive one hour and finally bought the 2014 accord EX-L at $23,590 plus fees and taxes. They tried to sell everything from accessories to 5 diff type of warranties but i declined all those. Got the .9% financing. Thanks @brian125‌ for all the wisdom in negotiating and the amazing content on the forums here.

    Hi Brain125,

Thanks for all the suggestions in this forum.
Got the 2014 Accord EXL CVT out the door at $26K in Maryland, that is about $23966 (include $790 dest)+TTL. Contacted more than 10 dealerships and finally got this price from 3 of them. Guess might be a reasonable deal. They provide extend warranty to 8yrs/100000 miles for $1093 (no deductible. they said it is a half price promotion, not sure). Do you think it is worthwhile for the extend warranty? I may drive 12K miles/year and plan to keep the family car for long time, so It is about$200/year for the warranty.
    Thx!

Best price in NJ would be about $24100 - this includes destination but no other charges. I bought one last month from Planet Honda. They have better prices than other dealers i tried.

Brian... Love my accord. I really want to thank you and i will ensure i will contribute to this forum as well.

Btw... I did not buy any accessories and do you know where I could get them for the best price for honda original parts. I did see on amazon, ebay etc. Can you recommend what would be the best mats to buy. We get a lot of snow in winter and it gets really salty inside - Recommend weathertech floor liner? Can/should i use a normal mat on top of that?
  • brian125brian125 Member Posts: 5,244

    Brian,
dealer says he cannot locate any 2014 EX-L sedan, 4cyl, no nav in ANY color for the price he quoted 23,800.
    is offering a 2015 EX-L same model any color for 24,993 plus 429 doc = 25,422 = $1365 below invoice.
    should i take this deal?
i have a down payment at same dealer on the 2014 EX-L @ $2421 below invoice so i'm really bummed out about this.
    any suggestion?

Paying that extra 1059 dollars for the 2015 and getting your model/ color is defiantly a good deal. Driven a 15 model for 3 months in 2014 and getting a real good below invoice price number is a score.. You have great pricing on both models.

I find the 200 dollar Garmin nuvi navigation far superior than most dealer installed systems.

@brian125 : They have said the otd price includes tax, title, doc fee, and license plate transfer. But they haven't provided the exact amount of doc fee. I will have to get those details from them . I assumed it included the destination fee. as the tax is 6%. Still is this a good price or it can be figured only after we know the doc fees.

    Get a breakdown.

I need selling price of vehicle? does it include the 790 dest/ charge. Once you provide this info I can comment.

You still need to know what the dealers doc fee is. That gets tact on with the otd pricing. It also lowers your agreed selling price if you do not counter that charge when figuring on a target price to buy.

OTD pricing consist of dealers doc fee, or admin fee charge , your states sales tax , your states dmv fees. Some states are allowed to charge a tire fee and a internet fee these charges are very minimal

    theberryplane,

Excellent deal as it stands. Even if you pay the 180 doc fee. Texas dealers will not remove there doc fee charge. You can ask this dealer to lower the selling price by 180 making there doc fee a wash on the bill of sale. OR Take this price and put 5 to 10 dealerships on the spot for the sale that moment if they beat this price 21,900. Only dealerships with the EX model will compete for your business the rest wont.

Post your deal after you purchased...... Please Include Name of dealership so others can try to negotiate a similar deal.

    Good luck

@brian125 I used your email template (thanks again!) and emailed a handful of dealers. I will cast a wider net and post on the forum so others will know. Still not entirely sure if getting the 2014 is the right thing to do vs the 2015. Family is split between this and the 2015 CR-V. But anyhow, thanks again for being an excellent resource and such a great help to folks. Every penny you saved, when added up, could probably amount to a fleet of Accords. :P
