Michaell & kyfdx Thanks for providing the MF and Residual values. Is the MF really that low for Audi A6 TDI?

Thanks for taking the time to keep helping everyone on this forum.

If a dealer is quoting $670 for 36 months/10k miles on A6 retailing for $63,835, selling for $61,925 minus $3000 in rebates and $5000 in trade-in (actually salvage value for an 07' A6 with 60k miles but suffered catastrophic engine failure), can you tell me what residual and MF they are using?

  • nxnw1nxnw1 Member Posts: 3

Above comment is regarding a 2014 A6 3.0 Prestige BTW. I don't think the price quoted is a great deal considering the catastrophic engine failure on an 07' certified pre-owned A6 purchased four years and 32,000 miles ago (60,000 miles when failed). Serviced faithfully at the dealership, no warning (pulled over immediately when check engine light came on). Just seems like Audi should be contributing more than this to keep a loyal Audi customer. Not really sure why I am considering an Audi lease.

.00011 MF and 51% residual are the base rates.

Too many variables to reverse-engineer it, to tell you for sure if they are using the base rate, or marking it up. It doesn't look like that great of a deal. If you are unhappy with Audi, I certainly wouldn't reward them by buying another car from them.

I have the following offer and want to know whether it is a good deal or there is room for further negotiations.

    2014 A6 TDI Premium Plus
    MSRP = $61265, Dealer discount = $3363, Audi Discount = $3000 (I own an Acura and a BMW)

    Selling Price = $54902

    36 Months Residual: 54% $33,083.10 Money Factor: .00013
    42 Months Residual: 50% $30,632.50 Money Factor: .00033
    48 Months Residual: 47% $28,794.55 Money Factor: .00177

    The Acquisition fee is $695
    The Dealer Fee $395.

Are there any other discounts that are available? Thanks for all your opinions.

    Thanks for your feedback KYFDX.
I am paying just the Acquisition fee = $695, the Dealer Fee = $395 and first payment. The security deposit is waived by Audi. Based on my calculations (on the selling price alone) it should be around $618 + tax for 36 months and $607 + tax for 42 months.

I just closed on the following:

2014 A6 TDI Premium Plus - Havana Black / Nougat

    MSRP = $62,320

Selling price was $350 over invoice before Audi acquisition (conquest) credit of $3,000 (acquisition credit is $3,000 on TDI vs. $1,500 on gas version - I own an Infiniti and a Mercedes).

36 months / 10K miles: $639 monthly payment including NYS Tax AND AudiCare

36 Months Residual: 59% (with AudiCare)
    Money Factor: .00013

Only $1,000 due at signing, which includes 1st month, DMV fees and tax on Audi credit. No security deposit. All other fees and taxes rolled in.

Total cost per mile = $0.78 (total out of pocket + total monthly payments divided by total miles included).

Please let me know your thoughts. My first Audi and first diesel.

    Thanks for all your help.

    Hello,

Are these correct MF and residual for a 2014 A6 TDI with net cap of $66500 and a 3yr 36000 mile lease in northern Cali? He said there are higher MF in Cali.

Dealer just told me today MF is .00075 and that is base and residual is $34,507.

    Thanks!

Thanks! I've never leased before. Just to make sure I understand this: the rate you gave is the base rate. The dealer can markup the rate for profit or to cover the acquisition fee. Do you know what the acquisition fee is on this car (A6 TDI prestige, 36mo/12yr).

Is the residual % you gave calculated on MSRP?

Also, what is the source of your info? Are these rates set by the bank or Audi?

    Thanks again!

Yes.. that rate is the base rate. The dealer can mark it up for extra profit. You don't want the dealer to increase the MF to cover the acquisition fee, because that adds more to the lease payment than just rolling that $695 fee into the lease.

All residuals are based on a percentage of MSRP.

All numbers are set by AFS, which is technically the bank, but obviously controlled by Audi.

That 42 month number is the equivalent of 1.1% interest... In the industry, that's known as a subvented rate. It means below the prevailing interest rate market.. Audi is providing below market rates, as an incentive to sell (lease) the vehicle.

They aren't doing that for 48 month terms...

I just picked up the car today. Just a few minor changes to the math. The money factor with AudiCare was 56% instead of 59% stated above, however, to keep the math/payments the same, the dealer had to lower the selling cost about $1,457. With an MSRP of $62,320, the selling price went from $58,390 to $56,933 - before $3K conquest. The invoice is $58,030.

So far, very happy!! Thanks everyone.

P.S., just in case the dealer was wrong about the residual (TDI, Premium Plus, 36 month/10K) being 56% with Audicare, let me know.

  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 265,626

56% is correct... Jeez, that's a big screw-up, when you are quoting a lease payment.. (not for me... I do it all the time.. lol)

I've been reading about BMW's "Multiple Security Deposits" program and have found a few references to and Audi program called "Rent Charge Factors". The BMW program is supposedly a risk free way of putting money down to either lower the cap cost or further reduce MF, not sure which. Does Audi offer a program that does this?

    Three other questions:
    1. Is it true that any money put down as cap reduction is lost if car is totaled? Assuming this is due to gap.
    2. Sales guy told me gap insurance is included by audi with lease. True?
    3. My car is supposedly on the truck headed for the dealership. If it doesn't arrive til Monday do I need to use June rate from AFS? Any idea what those are already?

Thanks again, these Edmunds forums are going to save me LOTS of $!!!

    1) It's possible. If you make a $3500 downpayment, the car is totaled soon after inception, and the replacement value is deemed to be around the payoff, then GAP does not cover any money you put upfront.. Downpayments only make the payment appear lower than it really is.. Keep your money in your pocket. (Granted, the scenario above isn't likely.... but, why take on that risk to save a $1/mo in finance charges).

    2) True.. GAP is included in an Audi lease.

    3) As far as I know, Audi does not lock lease programs.. The current program runs through June 2nd, though.
