10k miles per year. I don't quite remember the selling price as the dealer kept skirting around fees, etc. I focused more on the monthly payment and the 0 down.

I was also offered a 2.0 TDI for the same deal via email. He mentioned the diesel car was $3k more expensive.

Somewhat off topic. What's exactly included in the first year registration fee? I couldn't get a straight answer on that except that is was around $400.

Registration is a government fee.. nothing is included. You pay the government $400 and they give you a license plate and registration certificate.

Yes, all Audis can have a lease written for them allowing 7,500 miles per year.

This is for a 2.0 Premium A3. I am rolling over 6K of negative equity from my previous loan.

And that itself adds $167/mo to the payment over 36 months.

Current numbers for the 2.0 Premium are .00062 and 58% for 36/12. Without the negative equity, I get a pre-tax payment of $428.02. So, they could also be inflating the MF on you as well.

The money factor is the same..

Premium: residual is 59% for 36/10
Premium Plus: 56% for 36/10

Add .0004 for B and .00065 for C

Hi, my current lease on my Kia Optima is almost over so I was looking for Audi A3 Cabriolet to lease. We went back and forth with dealer and couldn't negotiate on the terms. I told them that I will buy out my current lease and I am not interested in Audi anymore. After that, they offered the following. I am wondering if it is a good deal.

They will pay off my 2012 Kia Optima LX Sedan4D 2.4 liter at 19,000 miles and get it from me. Residual value is $12,534. KBB value for trade-in is around $13,000.

They offered no money down at all with $370/month for 36 month 10K miles for White A3 Cabriolet Premium 1.8TFSI with cold package option.

MSRP for the Black one is 37,025
Adjusted price after discount $34,905
Residual is 20,363

For metallic white he said it is additional 500 or so but didn't get the exact figures for White. I didn't know about the money factor until now so I never asked that.

And this is probably a stupid question but I wanted to confirm - does the Prestige have a lower residual simply because of the extra technologies in the trim? You can get most (but not all) of the options in a premium plus which appears to have a 2% higher residual rate, that is what was throwing me off.

.00062 MF and 54% residual.

It's pretty typical for higher trim lines to have lower residuals, across almost all makes/models. The theory is that options don't generally have the same value on a used car.

As you note, that does leave some anomalies, like being able to option up a lower trim model and save money on the lease payment (which is what I would recommend).

I'm new to leasing, and have a question about the Money Factor and "buy rate"

I was told by dealer that the current money factor for a 36 month A3 lease is 0.00062. Then they said that that was the "buy rate" and that they have to mark it up to make some money. Apparently they mark up an additional 0.000625 for a total of 0.001245. 

Is is this normal?

It's typical... not sure I'd call it normal..

Also, that's a huge markup, not a small one..

Tell them they should make their money on the car, and that you want the buy rate..
