The only thing I took from that "review" was that I liked the blue on the BMW better.
Seems like an odd pair to compare since they are only really similar on price. I was surprised the Mustang wasn't faster 0-60 given the HP advantage. Both are pretty cool cars.
I've heard of municipalities and PDs forcefully dissolved over speedtrap shenanigans, maybe it should happen to counties too. Especially in the "small government" south, where there are seemingly millions of postage stamp-sized counties full of good old boys and endless redundancy. These are often the people who are the first to preach about personal responsibility.
The road was limited access and relatively deserted. My main fear of getting tagged that was the county I was in has a County Attorney that runs a "Traffic School" that only exists to rake in money to fund his office- thus no amendments or deferrals- the only option is to pay the extortion fee.
Hey, that happens in "sophisticated" NY state as well. Albany for example has a red light camera system to balance their budget that generated $800k....all of it went to the camera company.
Our safety conscious governor holds never ending "safety sweeps" which seem to do nothing more than generate multiple millions in revenue. I find most car reviews are pretty fair....they seem to be objective. We all have some bias's so one writer may prefer European cars, another may like American metal.
I don't know about that. The compliments for the Mustang seemed almost begrudging, as if the author was looking for something to criticize but couldn't.
Of course I may be biased.
Do you think? I think the article was very fair, they mentioned the good points about each car, but, acknowledged what the differences were....and there wasn't a real winner, depended on the readers priorities. I think the people who criticize many reviews are just too sensitive. Maybe, they take criticism or a negative and take it as a personal insult - blow it out of proportion.

Anybody got creative juices flowing tonight?
I wouldn't buy a Mini if I was over 5'10". I sat in a convertible once and the top of the window frame blocked my view. Leg room as I remember was non existent. Mustang with the seat all the way back is too generous for me.

The No. 1 brand for women – the brand with the highest percentage of female buyers – was Mini at 46.2 percent. Nissan was No. 2 with 45.7 percent and Kia third with 45.6 percent. Men, as expected, dominated the exotic brands with Ferrari sales being fueled by the most testosterone – 92.5 percent of buyers being male.Apr 26, 2012
Global sales of the Mustang hit 76,124 vehicles for the first half of 2015, up 56% year to date, according to Polk/IHS global sales data. Total sales among women in particular are up 40 percent over last year, giving Mustang 36 percent of the entire female sports car market.

I checked out the new Sonata. Some nice updates, but really the same inside. Supposed to have improved driving dynamics though. But I did not bother to drive it, since have no intention of getting one.
Thank you all for your well-wishes - I got through the ordeal in one piece.
Got to the hospital at 6:30 AM this morning. It took 20 minutes to get registered and the nurse led me to my holding room. Luckily the started the IV on first stick - can't stand IV's. Anesthesiologist came in and gave me a sedative and the surgeon came in and wrote a few things on my arm with a magic marker with diagrams and then explained the operation to me. They rolled me into the operating room at 8:30 AM and after a syringe full of something was put into my IV, I was out like a light.
The procedure took 45 minutes and when I woke up in the operating room, all I remember is horrendous pain. So the gave me some morphine and when that didn't reduce the pain, they put Demerol into the IV and that took away most of the pain. I was discharged at 11:00 AM and was home by 11:30 AM.
I still have quite a bit of pain so I have been taking some morphine pills which work OK. I hate narcotics because I get constipated and have to take medications to blow up the dam. So to speak.
He put a load of staples in my forearm- incision is 8" long. He said both tumors looked benign but he won't know for sure until he gets the pathologist's report. I go in to see him on September 6th to have the staples removed.
I sure am developing an aversion to hospitals. I hope the pain dissipates quickly - and again thanks to all of you for your great support.

1. Auto repair shops go away. A gasoline engine has 20,000 individual parts. An electrical engine has 20.
Electric cars are sold with lifetime guarantees and are only repaired by dealers.
It takes only 10 minutes to remove and replace an electric engine. Faulty electric engines are not repaired in the dealership but are sent to a regional repair shop that repairs them with robots.
I am thinking....your electric engine malfunction light go on so you drive up to what looks like a Jiffy-auto wash, Your car is towed through while you have a cup of coffee and out comes your car with a new engine.
2. Gas stations go away. Parking meters are replaced by meters that dispense electricity. All companies install electrical recharging stations.
3. All major auto manufacturers have already designated 5-6 billions dollars each to start building new plants that only build electric cars
4. Coal industries go away. Gasoline/oil companies go away. Drilling for oil stops.
5. Homes produce and store more electrical energy during the day and then they use and will sell it back to the grid. The grid stores it and dispenses it to industries that are high electricity users.
A baby of today will only see personal cars in museums.
They're sayings so many as 500,000 cars have been flooded in Texas so far. Better stay off CL for a long time.
Funny....I just mentioned this to another friend locally who is a car junkie like me. No CL. Stay away from rebuilt or salvage titles for a while. He likes getting lux cars with salvage titles. Not for the faint of heart, and definitely not something I would recommend.
But, he seems to be able to buy them right, drive them for a while, and make a profit on the other end, while not getting burned.

Sounds like everything went well, Mike. I had a colonoscopy on Thursday the 24th of August. The surgeon took out 2 polyps for testing to see if they're cancerous. I go back to my PCP on September 7th to check on my asthma. I'll find out then if the polyps check out OK. BP is up a tad, too, so doc is going to re-check that on September 7th.
I got a job offer from a Hospital in Wenatchee, WA! 4 1/2 months of searching has paid off. I already have my BLS card and just got my wallet card for my RPSGT on Monday, so licensing is sufficient.
Man, housing is expensive, though, in Wenatchee. Going to be pain to find us a rental house there. Boss says to check out Malaga, Rock Island, Orondo, or Cashmere, for something more affordable.

On prediction #1 I'd suggest an alternate reality. Your electric motor malfunctions, you pull into the Jiffy Lube, the shop tells you it'll cost $10,000. Since you lost your pizza delivery jobs to a robot you can't afford to fix it and walk home.

This reminds me of predictions in 1962 after someone watched The Jetsons and visited the Seattle World's Fair By the year 2000, we'll all live in sky towers and have folding flying cars
So when the autonomous delivery car hits me, do I get to sue Ford, Dominos, or both? That will be the question.
You forgot a couple:
6. With autonomous cars always minding the rules, there will be a series of tax hikes to compensate for the lack of traffic enforcement-based revenue, as the ever more militarized praetorian sector isn't exactly a low overhead operation.
7. As electric vehicles consume more energy, the grid becomes stressed. Higher rates and taxes will be needed, so infrastructure can be maintained, and privately owned for-profit utilities can maintain their promised entitled ROI.
8. Mining and disposal of batteries will create some bleak landscapes, but not in anyone's backyard. Just export the negative externalities.
Not saying that some of that won't happen, but I am not holding my breath. We still have a problem with range past 300 miles, or swappable batteries.
Congrats! Back to the PNW. Great weather in that area.
Housing is expensive in Wenatchee? LOL, maybe compared to Ritzville. Actually, the area has attracted some number of house-rich and often generously pensioned Seattle area lucky generation retirees, which makes upward pressure - but still dirt cheap compared to most of Puget Sound. Cashmere would be an especially easy commute.

But, all parts could be made modules, so that a defective part would be a) easily accessible, and 2) easily yanked out and replaced. Car can be fixed in a few minutes....instead of days.
It seems that the really smart marketing is making things cheaper, and the internet and electronics has done that in a big way. We bought our previous TV 9 years ago, it was 55" and cost about $3200. The new one, a 65 inch, with so many more features including instant on and Smart TV etc, cost $1400. Todays cars cost about the same as cars 10 or 20 years ago - if you consider inflation, but, they come with so many more features, rear camera, blind spot warning, tire pressure, auto stopping, even outside temperature gauge etc. on cheapest models.
We went to a re upholstery shop to get a sofa covered. The material we chose (microfiber suede) was $250 a sq yard. We found lots of places that sold material online, ordered one of better quality from the U.S., $60 a square yard and delivered in 5 days.
Car repairs and the way cars are serviced will probably get cheaper. Labor is more expensive than new parts, just yank out the old and replace it. Like a TV set, not too many TV repairmen left any more.

Why wouldn't you drive into a service station, they slide out the old battery, and they slide in a new one? Could take less time than filling up with gas. Be the same as exchanging propane tanks.
Nice fantasy driver. I'll be long dead before that happens.
Things are happening faster than we thought....in many areas. Look at Netflix....who would have thought we would be streaming programs from our computer to our TVs? And who thought the large networks would be scrambling to find a new business model? And who thought you could have a book delivered to your e-reading device in a few seconds? Who thought the retail store landscape would implode and people would buy a huge percentage of goods....online? It is happening and very fast. With todays advances in medicine stick, you might get to 150. How you will fund it....we don't know yet!
I agree with that idea 100%, but if it is so easy, why isn't it here already? Swappable batteries have been talked about for awhile, but don't really exist yet.
There'd also need to be a lot of infrastructure for it, as you'd need a battery station in virtually every little town.

There are still plenty of parts that get repaired/replaced: electronics, harnesses, AC, plastics, liners, body work, suspension, drive shafts, etc. Auto shops won't go away. The engine may be only 10 moving parts, but all the rest is still needed to be serviced. Electrical motor still needs transmission to change torque from the output shaft to the wheels. Lots of parts there.
I agree with that idea 100%, but if it is so easy, why isn't it here already? Swappable batteries have been talked about for awhile, but don't really exist yet.

Someone will do it! If there is a buck to be made, someone will find a way....the beauty of a capitalist system.
Is it? Or one evolving into oligocracy more with each new day.
Another stumbling block - standardized batteries. We don't even have fully standardized chargers yet. One can't expect Pa Kettle's battery swap station to carry 100 different types, as at most he used to carry 3 or 4 types of fuel back when he sold gasoline and live bait. I haven't seen any legit efforts made for battery standardization.

There are more possible issues with swappable batteries. As of now, it's the most expensive part of the vehicle (or almost). How would an new owner of a brand new vehicle feel if he just swapped those full batteries with ones that are at 90 percent spent lifecycle? I think not very enthusiastic. This is not a $20 propane tank that we can swap at Ace or Home Depot and not worry that the one we are getting is not as shiny as one we are dropping off.
In other medical news, I got a call today that my case passed through the Death Panel Cardiology case conference, and that I am a go for the TAVI aortic valve procedure, probably a couple of months from now.
I was pretty cool with the whole thing until then, but it just got real.
Just doubling the numbers of electric cars on the road will put a huge strain on the charging infrastructure. As for autonomous ride-sharing pods, I'm not sure how well that would work outside of urban areas. Most people want to go somewhere when they want to- and not have to schedule a pod to come over and take them to their destination. Also, judging by the way some slobs allow their private cars' interior to accumulate dirt and garbage, I can only imagine how those cretins would treat something that doesn't belong to them...

So does the ford drive to your door, or do you have to walk out to the road to retrieve it? Probably a deal breaker for most people that get pizza delivered.
Should use drones instead. Probably a lot cheaper to implement.
@abacomike, glad the surgery is done, and prelimary impressions by the surgeon look good. Next, hoping for great news after your anti-viral therapy is completed.
Thanks, carnaught. The bandages come off Friday. I just leave it open to the air, I guess. I will call the surgeon's office to verify that. It just doesn't sound right - leaving the open wound uncovered.
Next Friday will be the 16th week I've been on the anti-viral pills for Hep C. I have to have blood tests done the following week to check if the Hep C virus is undetectable.
Then I still need to see an orthopedic doc regarding my right knee - remember I fell a few weeks ago and tore something in in the knee which is probably cartilage and ligaments, Never a dull moment in my life!

But, he seems to be able to buy them right, drive them for a while, and make a profit on the other end, while not getting burned.
I guess that leaves me to "take criticism as a personal insult and blow it out of proportion." Oldfarmer already took the sensitive label.

There'd also need to be a lot of infrastructure for it, as you'd need a battery station in virtually every little town.
