They are now bored out of their mind though, apparently you can only golf and hang around the house so much.
I can't even imagine sitting around at any point in my life. It will come some day, anyway. Right now there's people to meet - we just got off the phone with a loan company rep. and a real estate agent before that. We will put in a loan application on the phone tomorrow afternoon. The guy works with Confluence Health doctor's, nurse's, etc. all the time. So we're excited. Renting is becoming a lesson in frustration any more. Watch this play out, guys. We won't be able to buy a big, fancy home - but we should be able (Lord willing and the creek don't rise - pardon my pun, Houston!!) to buy a humble abode for ourselves.
Good luck with all that is going on in your life iluv. The house plan sounds good, sometimes I lost sleep when buying a home...but, I was always glad we did it, and in some cases they seemed very risky at the time - and often were over budget. Same with cars, sometimes wondered what I was doing....but, it always worked out. I think you have to go in with a positive attitude, but, be prepared, with a Plan B, just in case.
Both Kia's look great...the front looks especially sharp. Hard choice of colors....either one looks good.
timing wise, might have to rent temporarily anyway. And that was my favorite way to move. Sell the old place, get a ST rental, and be on the prowl, ready to jump quickly at a new place.
Kind of like car shopping, after you already sold your old car! Or have a lease ending so you know it is going back.
Good luck. I am sure there are deals to be had there, just keep away from areas where the old house-rich Puget Sounders and Californicators want to live.
And if you might end up back in ML, think ahead, you don't want a daily Cashmere to ML commute.

Now that I've been caught up in the fast and furious Wenatchee real estate...bubble...I...I mean blow-out, I believe that even if we buy in the greater Wenatchee area and then I get transferred to Moses Lake, that we could quickly sell our house in Wenatchee and buy another in Moses Lake. In pretty quick order - say, 1 or 2 months. Washington state is on fire - with real estate. Now, I don't know about Spokane and Colville, or even the Tri-Cities. But Wenatchee, Bellingham - Everett - Seattle - Tacoma - Olympia and even Vancouver - Washougal are just brimming with sales.
Hey - real estate work? Nah. Remember, iluv, how much time and trouble you just went through ta get your RPSGT!
My wife warned me how disastrous it would be to buy a new car now, right when you're trying to enter the process of buying a house. Darn it! She's right, once again. You aren't supposed ta do that, are you guys? Drat! I was wanting to trade the 2011 Kia Soul in on a 2017 Kia Forte base Garnet Red 6-speed. George Gee Kia of Liberty Lake, WA, is selling base manual transmission Forte's for only $15,214 (Garnet Red) and $15,209 (white). Back to the drawing board. It might depend on the type of financing we use. The agent and the mortgage loan officer are talking about a '0' down program called a USDA. It sounds rural but he said that you could use it to buy in town, too.
I still think there's a way ta do this - but there is a really good chance my hands will be tied during the house purchase period. That's OK - I will look for the right time to pop the question to the loan officer.
On vacation and spent the afternoon in Sedona. Love getting behind the wheel of a Rubicon and hitting the trails!
Living in Seattle there are very few local options to truely enjoy a jeep, but it is a heck of a lot of fun here. I wonder if we will see an electric Jeep any time soon

I luv, no, do not take on any debt at all before you are all settled real estate wise, especially if buying. Besides, the soul is better for hauling stuff as you get settled! Once into the job and house, especially if the wife gets a job, then treat yourself!

Don't take on more debt just as you are trying to convince a bank to finance a mortgage! It will affect the size of loan you can get. We waited until after our refi to lease our Volt.
It might not be a bubble there. No 15%+ gains year after year, no flow of foreign money looking to speculate. Outside of retiree areas, it seems pretty stable. I think Wenatchee is relatively reasonable outside of the developments aimed at retirees and vacation properties. I don't think ML has gone crazy - I check listings there now and then to see if I recognize any of the houses, and prices seem relatively reasonable based on typical incomes. Especially compared to here, which is trying to compete with Vancouver for unaffordability (but if you have black money or family money (often the same thing), you are still golden).
And I'll second it, if the person who must be pleased wants a house, do that first, then the car, not the other way around.

using robot technology to deliver pizza is like using a chain saw to cut a stick of butter.
Yes, but if that's what's subsidized and encouraged by those in power, it'll happen all day long.
Oh, that's right. They'll sit around in little techie circles and call it "disruption". If they send those into certain neighborhoods they'll never see them again.
I think in Russia, cams are there as much as something against police corruption as accident/insurance investigation. Lots of fraud on the road there, so I hear.
That's one reason I have a cam setup here. It's not that I loathe the authorities, but I wouldn't stake my life on the quality of an investigation, should there be an incident.
I didn't really have 20 minutes to spare looking at these, but once I started I couldn't quit.
I had the same experience. Once I started viewing the Audi and BMW "jerks", I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Truly unbelievable. But, as we all know, it's not just Audi and BMW drivers who cause accidents - it's any driver who weaves in and out or tried to pass a car, etc.
This could have been in one of those Russian crash videos, but it happened this morning in sleepy old Nova Scotia. Two cars + one toll both = big trouble. No Audis or BMWs, but the Infiniti is a wannabe I suppose...

Thanks NYC, my boy is 12 and loves to bounce along in the Jeep. We always come down for spring break and some years we make an end of summer trip even though it is quite warm. Sedona and the Grand Canyon are quite a bit higher than Phoenix, and are typically 10-15 degrees cooler than Phoenix. Still warm but not oppressive
If you visit check out Barlow Jeep rentals in Sedona, there are multiple trails to run, I highly recommend "Broken Arrow" for its amazing views of the red rocks and you get to drive down the staircase!
Some of those videos remind me of a close call I had yesterday in the van. Minding my own business when a small car ((Sentra, Civic, who knows) cut right in front of me as she made a left without signaling. Locked up the brakes and smoked the tires pretty good. The van weighs about 5000lbs. And I can't image what would have happened to that driver if I didn't still have pretty good reflexes.

Spent another morning at the local human garage a.k.a. hospital, this time in orthopedics. They all finally agreed that my left knee needs replacing, But of course they cannot do it until the heart stuff is resolved. The surgeon gave me his card, said that once that's done and I feel up to going through with the knee procedure, give him a call and he'd fit me in. At this rate they may want to give me a volume discount. :@

I had my left knee replaced about 10 years ago. Just be prepared for an extended rehabilitation. Lots of physical therapy. IIRC, it took about 3 months of intensive PT before I began to feel normal again. Just keep a good stock of your favorite Bourbon or Scotch on hand - it soothes the rehabilitation process immensely, if you get my drift!
Was in to see my Primary Care Physician this morning. He added 2 more daily pills to my regimen of 17 other pills I take. One was Cipro, a urinary tract antibiotic. The other one is Flomax, used to reduce prostate swelling so urination is not as sluggish as it has been. He said the symptoms I have are not unusual after surgery. They also put a new dressing on my incision on my right forearm. There were 22 staples keeping the incision closed - it's 7" long and black and blue and is already beginning to heal. It is sure going to leave an interesting scar.

Thanks for posting all the pictures. Those are scenes I had hoped to be able to see someday, but my wife can't travel to those distant places anymore.
I couldn't tell which person in the photos was having the most fun--the big guy or the little guy. Both were having a great time judged by the smiles.

So... Some friends of mine had been asking me if I was interested in running for Commonwealth Attorney next year; I said I'd give it some thought. In any case I thought I had until January to make the call- but no such luck; the incumbent decided to retire effective 10/1/17. This means I have to throw my hat in the ring within the next few days to have a decent shot at being appointed for the rest of the unexpired term- a big advantage over any opposition. Pros: 1. The salary is over 6 times what I'm currently making 2. It's basically a 9-5 job at worst if you manage the caseload properly. 3. No work on holidays or weekends
Cons: 1. More responsibility 2. Not car-oriented 3. I will have to campaign one more time...

Glad you're enjoying it. We have a timeshare in Sedona and I spent quite a lot of time on the trails, mostly on my mountain bike, but also with our Pathfinder. Sadly, that was ten or so years ago. The timeshare agreement and time itself have reduced my involvement.
Either way, it's good fun up there, but more so in the spring or late fall. You're a glutton for punishment.

RB - some advice from the original "car-guy" - from my experiences reading your many, many posts over the years, I think I know you pretty well as far as your true love of cars is concerned. You are now in the midst of a "dream job" in a BMW dealership where they undoubtedly are extremely happy with your job performance. As a former Sales Manager in a high end dealership, I'd be thrilled to have you on my sales team. In a matter of a few months, you'll be management material. You thoroughly love working in the car business and have acquired a high level of satisfaction with your job. Just read through your own posts over the past several months and you'll prove my point.
Going into a political environment might be interesting and challenging - but you will be under constant scrutiny from a host of observers. Let's face it - politics stinks as we have all mentioned here. Yes, you'll be well rewarded monetarily but with a job like that will you be able to come home every night as excited about that position in politics as you are at BMW? Will you be exposed to the Cutting Edge in automotive design, technology and performance which you so dearly love.
If you set your sights on becoming a sales manager or department head in such an exciting dealership (a dealership and product you always espouse), you will be making even more money than you would make in a political position.
There is one detractor in the automobile business - it's the tremendous number of hours you are required to put in - most of them on your feet. As a former car guy I can tell you I had more fun selling cars and dealing with people than I ever had as a school principal.
The above is merely intended to remind you of how much fun you've been having at BMW. Good luck in whatever you decide.
one thing he won't get Mike. a 9-5 at most weekdays only job. A part time genius job when I retire from my "real" job sounds interesting. 60+ hour weeks with nights and weekends, not so much.
I drove through Wenatchee last fall while taking the long way to Spokane. Doesn't seem to have changed much from when I was a kid, compared to Moses Lake where I lived back in the day. Probably not an unpleasant place to retire.
A good friend of mine just built a huge custom home on Moses Lake waterfront property for what most people spend on a Condo in Seattle.
There is a REASON for this! Having to live in Moses Lake!
