I had a Mercury GM wagon and a Chevy from that era. For my driving preferences and height, the Chevy was better packaged for me. But the Panthers', despite seeming a bit tighter inside and a little less peppy, were certainly good cars too. I think the reason I lean toward the Buick in those pictures (as well as the Bonneville of that era) is a combination of that 2 door greenhouse shown, and the dash. I don't care for those Ford like horizontal bar speedometers Olds had, which may be part of it (the Mercury had a much nicer dash to me) and I also wasn't all that fond of the squared off rear coupe side windows, although all GM eventually went that way. But the good thing about it all is that buyers had choices back then to fit their own personal preferences. Today seems to be look-a-like or goofy all too often. btw, back then the Olds 88 was a big seller.

Yeah, but it says only when "you are interesting". I'm not there yet but I've joined a book club. :p

Ab, I like the interior on that Old's too....looks very classy. I don't think Ford or Chrysler came close for elegance. The seats were especially nice....kind of a cushion affect.

I have a story about a 68 Chev wagon these older friends bought. He brought it home, his neighbor who was kind of a blowhard came over to look at it. 2 weeks later the neighbor had a new wagon exactly the same....even the color. Our friends were very upset...but, flattery is supposed to be a compliment.

Now he has a parts car! :p

Ford’s Panther based cars were every bit the car those full size GMs were.  You couldn’t go wrong with either.  The Fords were also fuel jnjected and by 86 multiport FI.
Are we talking something like this?

These were fine cars too, and we were a Ford/Mercury family, but, I found Buicks and Oldsmobiles had more luxurious interiors. Engines........that could go either way depending on particular engine.

If wanted more luxury you could get a top trim Grand Marquis or Town Car

Boy...do those Mercury pics bring back memories. My Father would not all own us to drink sodas in his GM for fear we’d spill them on those tufted velour seats.

Ford interior looks good....but, I still think an Olds 98 was just a touch nicer:

I agree about the visibility in those Ford/Marquis, high seating with huge windows....nice!

That is the same car, wire wheel covers and all that dad had. His was dark metallic blue, blue vinyl top and matching blue interior. One thing I liked that ford did vs GM, the cornering lights had a delay when the turn signal cancelled giving light to the side for a brief time longer.

I probably won't buy anything at this time - our Soul is running just fine. I just like to put together little ads on Edmunds and keep a running tab 'o my favorites.

Don't worry iluv, I understand totally where you're coming from. Just a little wishful thinking like I do with my Florida low mile hoopties. It's fun to dream.

I did get a pleasant surprise last week, which bodes well for collecting in the future. when I called about adding the new car, I was surprised that my policy for the year would only go up less than $200 (I am not dropping the Sonata for a couple weeks since I already paid for it, and our daughter is flying home to visit next weekend and wants a car to drive).

Insurance agent said something about applying multicar discount (which we already have, since 3 on the policy) but I think this was because we went to more cars than drivers. So all 4 cars went down, but I assume in 2 weeks when I drop one, the remaining ones go back up.

But next summer, when the princess goes off on her own, could be super cheap (insurance wise at least) to add a 3rd car to the fleet!

Driver, I owned a 1978 Regency 98 in gold/beige.  It was a poor man’s Cadillac at the time.  It was a magnificent sedan with tufted velour seats that totally enveloped one’s upper body.  As a road car, it was terrific.  It even rode like my Dad’s Cadillac.  Best car Oldsmobile ever produced.

Anyone know anything about a motor scooter called a Zuma 125 ? It is a 2011, has 2,000 miles on it, looks to be practically new and runs great. A neighbor of mine is going thru a divorce and wants to sell it. He said he would sell it to me for $250. That seems like a really low price to me, but this guy is loaded and I think he just wants to get rid of it with no hassle. I have known him for about 10 years and he is a stand up guy.

He admits it is pretty good for 30 years old. No mileage given. No appointment if you are interesting! I don't know...I think it will be a disappointment.

Have you tried Florida estate sales....that is where the real bargains probably can be found? I found estate sales but can't limit it to cars, but just checked quickly.

Made by Yamaha. Most of that vintage seem to sell for $1500-$2000 so that sounds like a screaming deal.

It's made by Yamaha so there's some heritage there. Can't be very fast so local street use only I assume.

I just had a visit from my condo community's maintenance department. They claim that my toilets are slowly leaking and causing the ceiling drywall in the condo unit below me to get wet. He came in and checked the master bathroom toilet first - he said that the wax seal is corroded and needs to be replaced. He had some sort of gizmo he used to check the floor around the toilet base. He then checked the guest bathroom and found that when the toilet is flushed, there is some leakage, but very slight. He said both wax seals must be replaced as they are both leaking.

So, I have to call my maintenance contractor who covers my plumbing, electrical, AC, and appliances. Hopefully they can come out ASAP to get this fixed before it does more damage, not just to the apartment below me, but also to my floors. Always something. But I guess I have to expect this sort of stuff in a 27 year old condo unit. :'(

Mike of all the things that can go wrong and cause extensive damage plumbing wise, a leaking wax gasket is an easy and cheap fix. I sell them for $1.99 each. Make sure they use a "Deep" wax gasket with a plastic horn. Also, while they are resetting your toilet, make sure they use BRASS 5/16" Flange Bolts (or Johni Bolts), not the 1/4" BRASS PLATED Flange Bolts.

I'm sure Bradd knows more about them than I do but there are some new toilet bowl gaskets that are supposed to be superior to the traditional wax ring...

I mentioned a few days ago that I had purchased a special three-bottle box display of "Glenmorangie" Single Malt Scotch varieties at the Costco Liquor Store in Boca Raton and had, in fact, opened the 10-year old scotch for a sip when I got home. I also mentioned at the time that it was fantastic!

well, last night I decided to pour three-fingers of that scotch into a low-ball glass, neat, and began sipping it throughout the evening. It was truly an amazing and refined taste. There are two other bottle, each a 12-year-old single malt scotch. I would imagine they are as good, if not better, than what I opened.

I was at the casino for dinner the other night and they were giving away a bottle of "Kracken Rum" to their elite card players. So, I go in line and came home with a bottle of the rum. I personally have never tasted rum before in my entire life - I guess over the past half century of my life I have never been in a situation whereby I was either offered or had the opportunity to try rum. This bottle is supposed to be a bit spicy with a caramel after taste flavor. It's 70 proof which I would think would not provide a tremendous "kick" to it. Since I am really not into rum, I'll give it away as a gift to someone.

I just saw where Ford will be offering a Level 2 Performance Package for the Mustang GT- adaptive dampers, wider wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, stiffer suspension and tweaked aerodynamics. A GT Premium with Level 2 goodies will start at $48,695. I still think I'd rather have a new M240i, M2, or a CPO M3 ZCP.

Mike, the Kraken rum is a spiced rum, meaning that they add flavorings to it. Up here we get the 94 proof variety, which I understand has a chocolate note to it in addition to the cinnamon/nutmeg/allspice etc. I understand the 70 proof version has different flavorings and more of a cherry note. Usually they are mixed with cola but can be served straight up over ice.

Plumbers will be here tomorrow afternoon to check out the toilets. They said they don't take the advice of my maintenance dept - they check out the toilets themselves to assure their assessment. I guess a wet ceiling in the apartment below me is not good enough for them. Good Grief!!!

And, as I wrote earlier, one bolt that is under the toilet tank rusted, water got on the floor, seeped into the wall board and vanity cabinets. This caused mold to start. Walls that got wet had to be cut out, vanity was removed. Condo insurance covered a lot of damage to walls, our insurance covered cost of vanity less $1000 deductible.

Like I said before....why don't they make the floors out of material that would hold water and go up the sides? And, if they can get a man to the moon why can't they make a gasket that won't breakdown - or warn you when it is broken?

Because then the gasket will cost $150 and nobody will pay that price.

And the waterproof flooring will be $50 a square foot.

He doesn't have the time or energy to put it on CL at this time. He just wants to get rid of it.......$250 is like found money to him instead of dumping it at this time.

I bought new tennis shoes for $120....they hurt so much after I wore them I didn't want to even look at them any more. I put them on CL and got $40 for them after about 10 days. If it took any longer I was just going to give them to someone who needed shoes at the club. But, the $40 paid for a dinner out.......at Denny's anyway.

That is where I say...if you got a problem.....there is always a solution, the smart guy will find it.
Gasket.....if it gets wet it melts and changes color....bright orange warning.
Floor......just use waterproof tiles like they use in food stores. They clean the floor by throwing water on the floor and then mopping it up. You just need those curved sides that keep the water locked in.
I should have been an inventor or designer.....nah, books worked out OK actually.

That's a good deal! It's made by Yamaha in China, MSRP over $3,000 at one time. Not the top of the line in this sort of scooter, but not bad at all. Be careful though. Scooters don't have the handling and braking power of motorcycles.
