Winter is about to bestow itself on South Florida tomorrow afternoon. An arctic cold front is moving in from the north. Today’s high was 87 degrees. Tomorrow night it goes down to the low 40’s and low 60’s for a high. Expected to approach the 30’s Sunday night and 40’s Monday night.
I know you guys live through much colder weather, but you have to understand that we have many difficulties handling temps below the 70’s by day and 60’s by night. We just are not prepared to deal with temps that low. Brrrrrrr!
I checked our long range forecast and we are not forecasted to get a high in the low 40's for at least a month or so.
We were in Orlando visiting the kids last Christmas and while playing with the grandkids I overheard on the news something about a cold front coming in and we should get out our coats. They said the temps would drop to the low to mid 60's. It was interesting to see people all bundled up in 65 degree weather while we were walking around on shorts.
Snake, it’s the high winds accompanied by 50-60 degree daytime temps that cuts you in half, if you know what I mean. I’ll get a chance to check out the heated seats shortly. Then on Monday, the moon roof gets opened for the first time.
High winds and 50-60 degree daytime temps? Thats romping around in a light jacket weather, commonly known as a warTry high winds and 10 degree temperatures, that will cut you in half, quarters and eights. Hard to dress warm for that.
last winter I was driving to work in temps less than 10 below on several days.

I would be perfectly happy to never see a snowflake in person again, or be out in temps below freezing. I have no need for it. Snow is just evil stuff. Causes heart attacks, accidents, and rust on cars.
It’s even pretty cold here in seattle this morning. Had to wake up early to get labs done at the hospital and the GTI was showing it as 29 degrees after pulling out of the garage.

It's been snowing here for about an hour. We are having some ex coworkers/long time friends of my wife's over tonight. We will see if anyone shows up!
Looks like we're going to miss what you guys in NJ and CT are getting. Just a dusting. Sometimes my area is in the sweet spot between the lake effect that gets Fordfool and the costal storms that slam you guys to the south and east.
I also hate snow.

I love the snow, I get anxious like a little kid when I see snow in the forecast. It's hilarious seeing armageddon break out around here after no more than 5" or so - it will literally shut things down.
Wife tore the side of the new Enclave up in a parking lot. Yellow pole paint on both doors and all the trim. Can’t tell if it’s gonna buff out or if there are deep scratches that will have to be sanded, painted and blended.

At least the family is still involved. After my Mom passed away, my dad got involved with a woman he had known years before in the real estate biz. They were never married but lived together for a few years. When he died I'm sure there must have been a will, but none of us ever saw it or got asked to attend the reading. She just took whatever he had.
I understand that happens quite often. We took about 2 hours to have our wills done, then shook hands with the lawyer, then I said I have one more question. What if I go first, my wife has all the money, she meets some smooth talking boy toy in Florida, and he takes over all the finances, and the kids will be left with nothing.
Our solution was if one of us goes, the 3 children get a fair amount at that time, so they won't be left out entirely, even if the remaining one does something foolish.
The lawyer told us this one: The husband died and left his wife with a house and money of about $500000. Wife had two children from the marriage. She met someone new fairly quickly, got married, then she got ill and died soon after. The new husband got it all.........and the children nothing. I am sure that was not her intention.
Unfortunately, lawyers don't really point these things out when people make a will.
Same thing happened to my sister-in-law and her brother. Mother died, dad retired selling his successful business, remarried, and eventually died. When new wife died everything went to her kids. Dad's kids got zilch.
In New York, you can file your will with a probate court at the time of making the will. Then at death, the will is easily available. No searching for a will or suppressing the will.
It happens a lot, and I am surprised lawyers don't advise their clients to avoid these issues.
Filing a will for the public to see is an excellent idea.
Like I said before, I asked my lawyer to add to my will, if I go first, my wife has to sell my E400, I don't want her new boyfriend driving my car! :@
Don't bother driver, she can get around that. Haven't you heard the old saying, "Where there is a will there is a way".

That is my new goal in life...not to actually be in snow again. Last time I went back at Christmas for a few days the 90 minute trip from Buffalo airport to home took 4 hours. I had to help push the car up a hill, in my light jacket and regular shoes...with about 5 inches of snow on the ground. I kept saying to my wife....this is insane, why am I doing this? I could be in the sun.....playing tennis or going for a swim....much more fun than pushing the car through the snow.

My wife was executor for the two friends who died, and left about $2.5 million for a nephew and niece in England who hardly ever spoke to the people who were our friends. They didn't spend much time talking to their aunt and uncle, but, when the inheritance became available they were fighting for every nickel and dime.

Yellow paint on BOTH sides ??? EDIT. Oh, I reread your post, both doors, I assume same side.
Xmas get together is cancelled, probably for the best. Looking like I might have to crank up the snow blower later on. Looks like I missed my chance to change the oil in the Mustang, so it will have to wait until next spring. Tried to put the top up and it didn't want to move although the pump was making noise. Charging up the battery and will try again later. Worst case I'll have my wife help me do it more or less manually.

When my grandfather died my aunt's and uncles fought tooth and nail over ever nickel of the estate. When my mother died there was no fighting over anything in the estate, we split the estate in a very friendly manner.

TJC, that sucks. One reason I don't like overly large cars. Parking lots are too small. I don't miss maneuvering the minivan around a parking garage either.
the snow seems to be below expectations here. Though I did have to go out earlier and there was a fair amount of slush accumulating on some roads. No drama in the RDX even with the old tires, but not sure I really gave it much of a test.

I luv...I know the iA or the Ai is supposed to be a Mazda...but, is it exactly like a Mazda? This ad is on my Edmunds page. How do they compare price wise?
that is the Mazda 3. The iA is a rebadged mazda 2 with a new nose cone. But 100% Mazda underneath. The 2 is a size class lower. the 2 is like a Hyundia Accent, the 3 is like an Elantra.
did not realize it was on now. Just flipped game on. The snow is pretty outside my window (I am about 10 miles from that stadium), but I would not want to be sitting out in it, or driving home later.
Saw a new red AWD Kia Stinger yesterday when I was down in Dallas doing some lab work. Looks very nice in person, especially in red. Funny thing - it had California plates on it. I tried to get a pic, but traffic was horrible and I didn't want to risk getting my phone out.
I ordered a large poinsietta to be delivered by Avas flowers this past Sunday for delivery in LaQuinta CA this past Monday. I received an email stating the poinsietta was delivered at 4:30 PM PST.
The next day (Tuesday) I had not heard from my son’s SO, which surprised me - she always acknowledges gifts and flowers I send her. So I called her and she said she never got a deliver of a poinsietta plant. This was at 5:30 PM EST yesterday. She said she never got a phone call to schedule a delivery like I told Avas Flowers.
So I called them wanting to know why they sent me an email that the delivery was, in fact, completed as required, and that my don’s Significant other still has not received the poinsietta. I further told them that she was home all day Monday and Tuesday. Their response was that they needed to contact the florist in CA to find out what happened. I said I wanted a refund and I told them to cancel the order. They refused stating the would look into it.
So I called AMEX and had the $90 charge reversed. I again called Avas Flowers (they are like FTD) and told them I refuse to pay for something I never received - in this case an order to deliver a poinsietta on Monday. I informed them I had AMEX reverse the charge and that they lost me as a customer.
I subsequently found out that florists frequently send the floral company confirmation of delivery before the delivery is made in order to collect the funds due for an order quickly.
So last night I contacted a florist in Palm Desert directly and ordered the poinsietta plant for delivery today and sent my son’s SO the name of the florist and their phone number. I ended up getting a poinsietta twice the size of the one previously ordered at the same price and did not have to pay the expensive fees.
What I’ve learned from this experience is that online florists are undependable and frequently lie about deliveries and that I will contact s local florist directly when I send flowers or plants. It was a pathetic experience with this company.
I once ordered a display of fresh flower through one of those services and the recipient was given plastic flowers.
That's what happens when you buy flowers via CL.

My gosh, this was before CL or even computers.
Speaking of CL, if you had $20k to throw away, which would you take:
We took the GLK. Two Costco employees helped me take off the box and helped load the TV into the car. It wouldn't fit in the box.
That reminds me of another thing....we are ordering so much from Amazon that every day it seems I am cutting up boxes and putting them into our recycle bin. What gets me is they send this tiny item, like a bottle of sunscreen (we have to use that down here btw) and they put it in a 1 ft X 2 ft box.
Same thing here! I forget what this item was now from Amazon but it wasn't fragile at all and it was packed in a box that was way too big and then it had a ton of bubble wrap choking it to death!
I almost bought a new TV today. Store had a tax free day and a 55" LG UHD set was going cheap. Two things prevented it: it would not fit in the ATS so no way to get it home, and I can't bear to just give away my beloved 2008 Panasonic plasma which still works fine.
I love the snow, I get anxious like a little kid when I see snow in the forecast. It's hilarious seeing armageddon break out around here after no more than 5" or so - it will literally shut things down.
I used to hate it when I was working but now snow is OK.

Snow event of December 2008? That was the biggest one in recent memory, we had over a foot at my place.
In my experience, most of the "new drivers" are smart or leery and stay off the roads when it gets dicey, but with the recent proliferation of AWD CUVs and their ability to lure Civrolla and Camcord drivers, they might be emboldened.
I hit a frosty slick patches in Bellevue earlier this morning. Weird inversion lately, some areas are frosty and socked in, go half mile and it is dry and sunny.

AWD doesn't help around here. Those are the first cars I see in ditches.
Tonight I was driving the wife's PT with no ABS and came down a hill to find the road closed due to an accident. Turned around in a parking lot and started to follow a line of cars back up,the hill. Somebody in what looked like a Nissan SUV panicked and hit the gas too hard. The vehicle started spinning all wheels and drifted half off the road. Why the TC didn't help I don't know but it held everybody up for another 20 minutes.

Stick, thanks for explaining. I see a 2017 Mazda 2 starts at $14990. Between a iA or a Mazda 2 there should be a great deal near the end of the month. This Mazda 2 is a nice color of red.

If you are getting a new TV be sure it is a SMART TV. For the small amount of difference it is like a whole new world out there. Netflix for about $10 a month...you never have to go to a movie again.
Told my wife I was feeling pressure to go out to clean off the snow hearing all those snow blowers out there. She said it was only pressure I was putting the pressure on myself. Thought about it and decided, haven't heard the plow go by yet. Once it came by, I felt pretty smug for waiting. Ran the snow blower for about 15 minutes and it died, ok out of gas. Filled it up and it didn't run great so I decided to turn it off and restart it. Then I noticed the choke was still on, not so smug anymore.

Another indication it is time to move. Needing to own a snowblower!
Thankfully, we only got a few inches (might end up with 4) but not much stuck on the roads. Sun will be out in the morning and above freezing, and mother nature will do the work. Nice for us is we have southern exposure, so our driveway and sidewalk tend to melt quick, even when the people across the street still have snow coverage.
I enjoy running the snow blower. Even though we don't see some of the neighbors often, there are few of us that do the next door neighbor's sidewalk while we are out there. Kind of a Pay it Forward thing.

Army/Navy football game being played in Philly on the snow. No better TV watching this afternoon for me. I love this game.
I have a HS friend who's son is attending the naval academy. He posted pictures from the game, and was complaining that the Army uniforms made them harder to see.
Was out in the truck in this mess today and it performed just fine. Having it in 4H killed my mileage though. Average on the first 1/8 of this tank was 20mph. The 2nd 1/8 was in 4H and the average on the readout dropped to 16!

You should see it after a good snow and ice event here. Ditches look like SUV parking lots - overconfidence. I'll admit that if it reaches a certain point, I stay in too - I take it easy, but it isn't me I am worried about.
I remember driving my old E55 AMG in the snow, going up a hill (low profile all season tires, not the best choice, not like summer tires), and a MDX decided to slow to a crawl in front of me. I laid on the horn, as I knew I might not get going again if I stopped - that was the snow weakness for that car, getting moving on inclines. Luckily the driver found some courage and kept moving.
