We watch a lot of HGTV in our house. Too much.

Well, not having ready access to TV means that it is MUCH easier to not gravitate toward the "I wonder what's on?" scenario. If you want to actually watch something, you have to work for it a bit. And, a HUGE bonus? Well, when someone at the office says, "You know that commercial where...," I can say, "Nope" without any hesitation. I probably see fewer commercials in a year than most people see in a single day.... or *maybe* a single week, if they're light watchers.

My version of watching sports these days:

I watched every single one of the NBA playoff games so far. It took me about four minutes for each one of them on NBA.com under "highlights." :D

I will give up my satellite (or cable) TV, and especially my DVR, when they pry it from my cold dead fingers. I love sports too much to do any type of streaming thing. The ability to time shift and FF through commercials on the DVR is worth the monthly bill to me and the missus.

I'm with you, especially the DVR thing. I rarely watch anything live anymore including the news, can't take the commercials. OK, sports I watch live but I'm just about at the point where I'm going to hit pause for about 10 minutes then un-pause the beast. We have FIOS and after watching Son #1 fight with whatever system he is trying out this week, to decide which one he's going to settle in with, I'm not about to play with any of that stuff now. He tells me it's the wave of the future because cable is too expensive. Like any other new thing (remember when cable was new), once they reel you in the price goes up. As they say, "been there, done that". I can put up with a lot of stuff but wannabe TV ain't one of them.

In my case, you can't judge a book by its cover.

Prying the X1 Xfinity remote from my hand would be sufficient for me to “stand my ground” forcibly with a 9mm “shot across the bow” to anyone attempting to keep me from my cable TV, DVR and NETFLIX, HBO, ESPN, STARZ, SHO or MAX.

Got to Ponte Vedra with no problems.  Averaged 32.6 mpg at a steady speed of 75 mph.  Drive was actually relaxing in the S450.  A true road car!

Stick, remember it’s got a 3.0 liter V6 twin turbo rated at 363 hp.  The 9 speed transmission really makes the difference - low rpm’s at high speeds.  But I agree with you that it gets great fuel economy for a 4500+ pound vehicle.

Writing from beautiful Seattle. Using my tablet......not easy.

Found out this info. If you take the Detroit 3 out of the equation, cars are 45% of the market. Fiat Chrysler Canada only has 7% are cars, Ford 12% General Motors 22%.
So, the car is not dead. Toyota sells lots of Corollas, BMW sells lots of 3 Series.
Ford is giving up on cars because the profit is small.....but the cost to update and do research is way more than they can earn back.......trucks are more profitable. Also, pollution control rules not as strong, for trucks.

We’ve seen this movie. Didn’t end well then. Gee, wonder if it will be any different now. Let’s ask what’s the percentage of cars sold to first owners, new or used. Then fast forward 10 years, no more Fords in the mix. What’s the first dealer they’ll visit to get their first SUV? Will they even think of going to Ford?

Looks to me the CEO is covering his tenure, bonuses, he’ll be gone in five years with a fat bank account, heralded a great man that improved profitabikity. After him, even a deluge...

My theory in business is, if you have a product already in the market......that product has potential, the smart guy will figure out how to make it work. A lot of companies would love to have Fords infrastructue, dealer netwok, plants etc. Why throw that away? They have to find a way to attract buyers. Ford did it with the TBird, Mustang, Original Taurus, they should try to do it again. Retreating rarely works, successful businesses have to advance and adapt, and go boldly into the future.

Our houses came with instructions and notes. One house came with full instructions and an invitation to call them if we had any questons.

On the other hand, one friend moved into a house and the previous owners took every light bulb and every roll of toilet paper.

    I'm feeling inadequate today.

I've known that my next door neighbor owns a Corvette and that across the street is a Jaguar collector but this morning as I pulled out of my driveway I see that the guy on the other side of me has a Tesla.

Maybe he'd let me live in his garage, it's bigger than my house. :'(

I'm watching All Girls Garage on Velocity and it's very interesting watching the gender differences. On AGG they work cooperatively while in the male car shows each guy works independently. The women seem very supportive of each other while the men are always macho posturing and competiting with each other. The men also like to tease each other (mock aggression) which the women never do. Totally different styles.

They were really offended I still have DSL internet through Frontier.

We have a 12 Mbps DSL line. A wi-fi router connects to the Roku and Sony BD player.

Another glamorous campaign weekend- this time at my hometown's spring festival. Yesterday we set up the booth and manned it for four hours. Today I drove my Jeep in the festival parade at 10, followed by campaigning at my booth from 11-3. In 90F weather.
The good news is, I'm essentially finished with campaigning; My mailing and final newspaper ads are locked and loaded. I have the fourth and final candidates forum on Tuesday and a debate a week from today. The debate won't move the needle in either direction because it's three days away from the election and frankly, the people who haven't made up their minds by that time are very unlikely to vote. However, not showing up would hurt, so I'll do it.
My friends are much more optimistic than I am; the are predicting a 2-1 margin. I'm thinking 5-10 percentage points at most. No matter how it turns out I'm good; unlike my judicial elections, if I lose I'm not out of a job.

    Thieves don't bother steeling wannabees.

If your going to steel a car you might as well go all out and take a Benz, the jail time if you get caught is about the same.

You've got that right. I've never worried that my Genny wouldn't be right where I parked it. Might have some spit on it but it's always been there. B)

A good reason to buy a Gennie..........salesman told me it was less likely to be stolen.

I can't copy this British list of top 10 cars stolen but number one is M.B. C. Class. Rest of top 10 is mostly M.B. BMW, and Range Rover, one V.W. and one Audi.
No Gennies.....even thieves don't want fakes!
