@Mike, you don't have much time because @driver100 is going to be deported soon, so you have to hurry up and have a dress-off with him. We'll decide the winner, who will get a pair of nice dress pants since, if you win, that is what it seems like you need most. Of course he'd think the prize should be a horizontally striped shirt but this contest gives favor to US citizenship. :p

JM....When I go I am leaving my horizontal striped T-shirt to you. You can try to get into it or you can use it to wax your car. At least you will have a lasting memento of The Driver.

I'll take door number 2 (waxing the car) but only if it's 100% cotton not some cheap blend with polyester. And what makes you think I want a "lasting memento" ? I might not even want the shirt if it's a cheap wannabe. :o

I like watching those RV shows, but I doubt I would ever buy one.
When I was a senior in college, 9 of us got together to rent one to go the FT Lauderdale for spring break.
It was an adventure, but we did make there and it back.

Normally, I like cotton but there are newer "Stay-Dry" athletic wear T-shirts these days that you probably aren't aware of...that are made out of polyesters.......no animals or plants are killed in the process making them eco-friendly.

Anyway, because of your very impolite remarks and due to popular demand - I think I got one request from Mr Snake - here you go!

I don't understand the economics of a big RV? Cost to purchase, interest, insurance, fuel consumption and maintenance, then add camp lot rentals and hook-up fees. Seems cheaper to just get a hotel room unless you spend a large chunk of every year on the road.

Just got a come on down solicitation from the Ford dealer where I bought the Mustang in 2015. Wonder why they tried that only two weeks after I bought a new car elsewhere. Do they subscribe to new DMV registration listings and give it a try in case you have buyer’s remorse?

We get picked up by airport Shuttle Sunday at 9 a.m.
Fly to Toronto...leaving at noon. Expected arrival about 3:15.
My SIL/BIL left yesterday to avoid the huge end of the month crowd...who will leave on Mar 31 or April 1.
They should get home late tomorrow afternoon. 2 1/2 days of driving, or 3 hours by plane....we are spoiled now.
Some of those Ford F-150s with a trailer get about 8 mpg!
A pad to park the trailer on can easily be $1500 to $2000 a month.
We had friends with a 5th wheel. Not to be a snob, but you have to live the way you want, but, we had lunch sitting between 2 trailer homes.....with huge tires right next to us.
Not my idea of a good time.

That sounds like you have a direct flight with no stops! That's great. Everywhere my son travels, he ends up at a hub airport to transfer to another flight with a layover.

I get regular emails from both the Subaru and VW dealerships.

The Subaru dealer really wants me to trade in our cream puff 2015 Outback for a 2019 Outback (outgoing model, now - new redesigned Outback expected for 2020). Latest offer suggests I can get the exact same car for more than $200/mo less than I'm paying now.

VW emailed me today, excitedly telling me that not only are they offering a "sign then drive" promotion (basically $0 drive off, even the first payment is covered), they will also waive up to 3 of my remaining lease payments (I've got 4 left).

Problem is, the wife likes the Outback too much to let it go, and it's looking more and more likely that the VW will get returned at the end of the lease, and not get replaced.

I got one of those last week from my Subaru dealer. They offered to let me go from my 2018 Legacy to a 2019 Legacy for only an additional $50, or so, a month. They never mention the additional 18 months of payments. How nice of them. :)

I only have a monthly payment because of the 0% financing they had. I wonder if they would still send "offers" like that if there was no loan?

I a lot of those solicitations are just generated from some list of names.
Probably 25 years ago, someone entered my name somewhere incorrectly spelled.
I still get solicitation mail with that incorrectly spelled name.

But, why send the notice after you have bought the Soul? That's why I think it was a coincidence. I see a lot of those Souls around, and usually they are going pretty fast and it seems to be a good car to weave in and out of traffic....the small square shape allows you to slip in between two speeding cars. Not saying you...just that I see a lot of them doing that.

Michaell, does the Outback look like this?

The 2019 looks almost the same. btw, that color looks like it was made for Outbacks....looks great on them. I am not normally a green person but that color works.
The $200 a month less must be stretched over about 8 years........ad is made to appeal to buyers who only care about the monthly payment. It would be interesting to see how they got that figure...I am sure it is a con.

IIRC, car sales are down.........dealers are getting desperate to move some metal.

RV at least I get to drive. My wife refuses to go on a cruise liner, which is fine because I have no desire either. I would, however, like to do a riverboat cruise in Europe (the small ships that are more like the size of a barge with a motel on top!)

I agree that is a great color on the OB. there is a 3.6 in that color in my neighborhood and it is sharp. I am still kicking myself for not getting the OB instead. Oh well. Next time!

Driver, you sure your stomach isn't actually bigger than your chest?

If your wife took a picture of you from knee level, and if you were wearing a shiny skin tight shirt, it would make your stomach look like it bulges out too. I guess I will have to post some other pictures of me from other angles.
    PLEASE DON'T. :'(

I’d take the Acura you have over the Subaru any day of the week!

Just got a come on down solicitation from the Ford dealer where I bought the Mustang in 2015. Wonder why they tried that only two weeks after I bought a new car elsewhere. Do they subscribe to new DMV registration listings and give it a try in case you have buyer’s remorse?

Complete coincidence....I don't think there is a Ford comparable to a Soul.
Woah! If my wife could get in and out without problems I’d take a Focus or a Fusion over a Soul in a heartbeat. I bought the Kia for purely practical reasons.
I agree it’s probably a coincidence but the paranoia in me always suspects that mysterious conspiracies are at work.

Yeah, there are a lot of Souls out there. The handling is good for a high profile vehicle and the ride is pretty quiet. But there is no denying that the Soul is one butt ugly car. I bought it in spite of that.

There are quite a few direct flights to Buffalo or Toronto....remember, there are lots of Canadians who want to be in Florida in the winter.

That makes sense especially that the end of March is when many have to return to CA.

not sure about the newly introduced version, but the current model I actually think is pretty good looking. Different, but very functional, and cute in a funky way.

On its first day of trading yesterday, LYFT closed at $78.29, an increase of $6.29 or 8.74%. Uber meanwhile is planning its own IPO which is expected to generate even more buzz. This begs the question: why would someone invest in these ride-sharing companies whose business models will never generate a profit?

Is it optimism or illusion? Or are they following the playbook of Amazon, Facebook, Tesla, and others who operated for years without making a profit but made millionaires of ordinary and casual investors who had faith in them. I am not quite ready to write off Lyft or Uber, but I will wait until their valuations drop from their nose-bleed highs.

That is exactly the color of the car in our garage.

It seems everyone has forgotten what happened around 2000 when the first tech bubble burst. Made a lot of techie types rich if they got out in time despite most of the companies they started never amounting to much.

I read a book about a real east coast tech company and their journey to their desired IPO.
They never made a profit. It IPO'd around $24 5 or so years ago. Close yesterday, just under $167 and they still don't have a P/E. I don't get it, but that's the way it is.
