On the Michelin Pilot Sports..., those are designated summer tires. Does that mean @driver100 can't drive the car if it's below 32 deg F in FL?
Actually, true “Summer Performance Tires” should not be driven in areas where ambient outside temperatures are below 50 degrees. When I had the 2016 CLS400, it had those ultra-high performance summer tires (Pirelli’s). The tire manufacturer stipulated that driving in temps below 50 degrees could result in damage to the tires.
I have high performance RF tires now on my car and there are no warnings about low-temp driving performance. I believe it’s due to the fact that they are not true summer ultra-high performance tires.

I was mildly interested in this car when it first came out. I recall going to the Ford dealer where my son bought his ill-fated Ford Fiesta (dangerous transmission). True to form, the sales person said I should test drive the Fusion Sport. They had two of them.
Unfortunately, after waiting around for 20 minutes they couldn’t find the keys to either one. Test drive thwarted.
It has to be a quick car straight line, but I’d think your TLX is a sportier ride.
Speaking of the Fusion...my wife really likes the idea of a electric/hybrid car. I’ve always liked the Fusion since this generation came out so I showed her the Energi Plug in hybrid. She liked it.
So may go check one out in a month or so as I get closer to replacing the Elantra.
Ford has a huge 9k lease cash and MF close to 0. Residual is god awful but by my calculations should be a sign and drive lease in the $360 range on a nearly 39k MSRP. They come very well equipped with all the safety nannies, cooled seats, Sony stereo etc.

They've discontinued all of their sedans, right? So this particular one should be no surprise.

That’s been my hesitation in buying summer tires. While I don’t drive the Ford (Stang) after the first snow, I do drive occasionally in below freezing temps. I always worried it would damage the rubber or degrade the handling to unsafe levels.
I’d like to see Tire Rack do a real world demonstration of summer tire performance degradation as temperatures went from 50 degrees to 32.

With destination fees included, the '19 Fusion Sport costs just over $41,000, which is surely the reason why it hasn't sold like hot cakes. Keep in mind that's almost double the price of a base 2.5-liter Fusion S.
When the it was introduced and we drove it back in 2016, the Sport's starting price tag was a lot more palatable, at $34,350. Like Cars Direct notes, a 301-horsepower Camry XSE is cheaper than the 2019 Fusion Sport by more than $5,200, which buys a lot of replacement front tires.
And I expect the Camry will have a lot higher resale value, a few years down the road.
Despite it's weight the Fusion Sport is very quick but that's where the fun stops, at least for me. I really liked my 2011 Fusion Sport and wanted to like the new one but I was let down by the handling, interior, and AWD that wasn't tuned for performance.

I put PSS tires on my MS3 while the M235i came with them from the factory- I run out of nerve before I run out of grip- amazing tires.
"I run out of nerve before I run out of grip"... now that would be a great performance tire slogan! I'd copyright that fast before jmonroe steals it. ;-).
Too late.

@cdnpinhead Standard in much of the Midwest became Amoco, then BP bought them. Amoco had some major research labs and executive offices in the Chicago area back then. Amoco was probably the most popular brand in Chicago back then followed by Shell. I remember as a kid that Standard had those different colored glass globes atop their pumps to reflect the grade of gas.
When I was younger I remember Amoco's claim to fame was that their gas was lead free but still had enough octane to power the big V8's back in the 50's, 60's and 70's. I seem to remember their gas was always a few cents more per gallon, probably because of the lead thingy. Im pretty sure Amoco stood for American Oil Company.

Everyone had high octane lead free gasoline. The octane (anti-knock) level was not the problem. There was great concern about the unleaded gasoline burning up the exhaust valve seats.
I remember Amoco's claim to fame was that their gas was lead free but still had enough octane to power the big V8's back in the 50's, 60's and 70's. . . .. Im pretty sure Amoco stood for American Oil Company.
In fact, Amoco had figured out how to refine gasoline such that they got 91-93 octane without adding tetra-ethyl lead. It was called white gas back then, and was considered the best in the industry. This goes back to the '60s, so there aren't that many of us who remember those times.
I seem to also recall American Oil gas stations way back when, but I'm not sure of the locations. Maybe Indiana or the west coast? Maybe American and Standard combined to become Amoco? Throw in Standard, Enco. maybe Chevron and others, and I think they all have genetic lines to the old Rockefeller days.
It will depend on how realistic the racing scenes come across (hope they didn't shoot it to make a 3d version with crashing cars flying at the camera), but that looks like it will be a fun watch!
Sort of leads to the question about best racing/car movies...heh

I remember “white gas” from Amoco. My Dad used to buy a gallon every time we went to a Forest Preserve on Long Island for a picnic cookout. I think it was Cunningham Park. He had this portable burner that worked like a gas stove once it was opened up and laid flat. He would use a funnel to pour the white gasoline into the tank attached to the portable stove. He had to use the attached pump which would pressurize the gasoline fumes. He would then open the jets using valves and ignite the flame on the stove. It would boil water for hot dogs and even cook ribs in a frying pan.
Yep, Amoco white was the only gasoline he could use. Boy, this sure brought back some great memories I hadn’t thought about in over 50 years.
Le Mans is definitely my favorite, put the poster on the wall when I was a teenager, although I also like Days of Thunder. Not sure how I feel about Matt Damon(a younger Scott Glenn would have been a good fit) as Shelby, but Christian Bale as Ken Miles seems to be a great edgy character. 'Gimme Shelter' gave me goose bumps watch the trailer.
I'm pretty sure 2019 is the last year for the Fusion Sport. They pretty much come one way, loaded, for 41k msrp. Nav, sunroof, heated seats, stop and go cruise. A dealer in NY, about 1 1/2 hours away has 7 last time I checked. Probably will look in August. I really like my current Fusion, although it's a heavy car with a 1.5 liter turbo, so kind of slow. Fits 5 people comfortably if back seat passengers are under 6 ft. Mileage is good @29 mpg.

I can testify that you WILL like the 2.7L ecoboost engine in that Fusion Sport. No idea about the rest of the car, but the engine you will like. If that engine can make a hot rod out of a crewcab F150, imagine what it will do in a sedan?
Today there was little traffic on my 12 mile commute, and almost every traffic light was green. The result was that the Clubman returned 49.7 mpg(adjusted, since the OBC is 5% optimistic). The drive home was a bit more congested so adjusted mileage for the round trip was 42.0 mpg. Still, I’ll take it.

The Sport is pretty rare in my area, in fact local dealers don’t have much of a selection at all. Mostly SE trims.

McQueen recalled stripping asbestos off pipes in a ship’s engine room during his service in the U.S. Marine Corps. He later worked around sound stage insulation and wore fireproof racing suits that likely contained asbestos.
It was everywhere then and even now. I read a Wiki claim that an estimated 1,000 tons of asbestos was released into the air following the WTC buildings' destruction.
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing.
