So sorry to hear. I had a totally opposite experience with Best Buy’s Geek Squad. My TV also developed a problem, and we couldn’t figure out if it was a cable or a tv issue. Or an issue with another piece of equipment that improves wireless strength — also from Best Buy. The Geek Squad came out and couldn’t resolve it, and then the cable folks, and they couldn’t either. Then the Geek Squad came out again and this time, based on the prior info — where the TV did not seem to be the issue — which they got learned from visit one — the guy figured out that the cable folks had put something on the cable line going into the house that caused the problem! Took off the offending part, and presto! Everything worked again! Sometimes it does take a few visits because it’s hard to determine the source of the problem, so I can see why they would want to try more than once. They were very thorough and competent throughout the process and knew how frustrating it is for the customer. If you had waited, you would have got a free replacement TV, right?
Our 13 year old air conditioner/heat pump stopped working Tuesday. So I called our service company thinking they would be out in a few days, but they came around noon, same day. I am already resigned to about a $7,000. hit to replace the unit. Turns out to be a burned out capacitor, total charge $250 bucks. It was fixed in about an hour. Oh what a relief it was, in more ways than one !
Speaking of TVs, my Samsung LED is about to celebrate its 10th birthday, zero issues of any kind. It wasn't exactly the cheapest when I bought it, but products like this build brand loyalty.
30K profit on a house in 7 years also has me in amazement. An old co-worker recently sold their house, bought in 2014-15. They paid 500K for it IIRC, sold for 800K, pending in 2 days, and I don't think they did much of anything to it, just a pleasant 70s tract house.

On the contract....daughter's boyfriend will be taking the bar exam in a couple months, so she has some free resources there...as well as I've seen just about every episode of Judge Judy. :-)
Update: Daughter has countered sellers offer of 1,000 off the purchase price, and asked for $3,000 off (due to knob and tube). Sellers accepted. So, looks like deal is going to get done. Can't say I'm excited over this $3,000 off, as we had originally asked for $10,000. But, I gave my advice and info on this matter, daughter made her decision, and I respect that. Can't say I'm not concerned with that.knob.and tube and the resale value of that house, when it's time to sell. But, it'll work out. :-)

@driver100, I’m pretty sure it’s illegal for a MB owner to cut their own grass. Something about not soiling the image of the brand. 8^)
Thanks for pointing that out bean.....I would much rather be driving the MB and experiencing the handling and ride, than pushing a mower around. And it would ruin the image too.
btw....do you know about Chicagos Giant Bean; I thought it was a Giant Peanut!
People call it "the bean" but the actual name of it is cloud gate.
Why? Looks like a bean to me!
Because it's shape makes it reflect more sky than ground.
Called "Cloud Gate" because of that....no one will get that. Peanut makes more sense.
if you stand at it, especially to the east of it, most of what you will see reflected on its surface is the clouds in the sky.
What if it is a sunny day with no clouds....should be called "Blue Sky Gate"?
Mike, Our VIZIO had a problem after about 2 years....the SMART TV features weren't working. VIZIO customer service gave me the run around....tried to blame the cable company, or a temporary problem. Each time I called I was put through 30 minutes of tests. Each time I called the rep tried to get rid of me, I got the impression they were timed or judged on how well they could get rid of me. After 3 separate calls the rep told me there was nothing they could do. I told them it will be the last VIZIO I will be buying. VIZIO IMHO makes a product that can be sold cheap, but, it is a bare bones product that may last if you are lucky. Not a brand I would trust. In a way, you got 2 years for $500 = $250 a year for TV. You could do better but that isn't too bad.
Geek Squad is owned by Best Buy, so it’s a company problem. But this gives them a chance to blame each other until you get tired and give up. Very deceptive way to do business.
I wonder if they are owned by Sirius/XM, or vice-versa.

I bought a 50” plasma Toshiba in 2005. Not smart, of course, still just 720p. Not running to a store for a new one. Picture is sharp, colors just fine, actually feel much more natural than on those current schmancy 4k sets, which feel oversaturated to me. The skies are rarely as blue or grass as green as those shown at stores. When it finally breaks I’ll get a new one, but surely not Vizio. The problem is the market of brands shrunk big time, not many choices. I guess it’s the $500 tag that did it. Nobody makes much money on coommoditized consumer products.
I had a 50" Toshiba plasma. Went south about 3 years in. Fortunately, I'd bought it from Costco who sent guys to fix it. When it died again I threw it out, replaced with a Samsung LED. Now I have three of them. Flawless.
Unfortunately, I can't say the same for their appliances. Our washing machine works great but is rusting away.

My MB Dealer now requires a sticker showing you bought the car there, in order to get a complimentary car wash. Too many who weren't customers getting free washes.
I only go a few times a year, it is a pain waiting 45 to 60 minutes for them to wash my car. Today it took over 2 hours. In these situations, I usually like to tell the people in charge, in the hope they will try to improve. I emailed the president of the dealership;
Mr President,
I have a 2017 E400 and have been very pleased with our MB (name) experience, but, the complimentary car wash is not a feature I am pleased with.
Since I live in ----------- and don’t like to sit and waste 45 to 60 minutes of my life waiting for a car wash I usually do it at the do it yourself car wash in town. But, about 5 times a year it needs a more thorough cleaning, so I take it to MB.
That was a big mistake today, over two hours waiting for my car to be washed!
Took it in at 10:45, no one around to help so left my key at the service desk. Checked at around 12 and then every 15 minutes, left at about 5 minutes to 1.
I’d rather go to a car wash then wait.....it isn’t considerate to waste 2 hours of my time. If they told me it would be over an hour when I took the car in I wouldn’t have bothered.
It is too bad, you have to have a sticker to show you bought the car there, and that is the way a customer is treated? Btw....my wife has a 2015 GLK and I had a 2015 E350 from MB.
I am generally a pretty loyal customer....I like to stay with companies that have treated me well, but, this experience was not a positive one.
I wouldn’t bother mentioning it but when possible, I prefer to give companies and places I do business with a chance to try and improve.....hope this helps!
Maybe they will offer you a special 4th of July deal for trading in your dirty old car?
4th of July won't mean much to them in Canada, but, they may offer a free .....something. The car wash I got, was worth almost $50 judging by what the brochure says they do for $50. It would cost about $20 at the car wash. If they are smart, they will give me something to try and appease me....but, I am not counting on that, it would be a bonus if they actually gave me something.
They had a nice light weight windbreaker that was $200 bucks, and a stay-dri tennis shirt that was $99 that could make up for my 2 hours!

I have somewhat little sympathy to this. After all, you bought a car, not car washes. One can say they made a promise they couldn’t possibly keep if every customer took it literally. They would have to turn into a large car wash. They probably consider it a neat gimmick and small courtesy. Anybody who can count to 1000 should know it can’t work if all customers turn up wanting one. So you either suck it up and save some coin, or you pay and save time.
our Family room (main watching) TV is a Sharp 52" that we got in 2011. never an issue, still works like new. Technically a smart TV but only has a few built in apps. No issue though now that we got a fire stick. much better than using the built in apps. Not the most modern (4K, UHLD) but looks fine to me! I will keep it as long as it behaves, unless the 15+ YO Sony downstairs dies (it is a sorta-console we got just as flat panels were coming out. Has a big bulb. there is some name for it, but I forget what). we had to put a new bulb in a couple times (not cheap, and may not even exist now) and it got a new light engine at one point under warranty. Pretty slow to warm up now, so when it finally dies, out to the curb, family room TV goes down, and something new moves in upstairs!
My 2008 Kuro Elite plasma is still working perfectly. I might upgrade to a OLED in a year or two.
but does it have SMART TV features? What good is a TV without Netflix and/or Amazon?
It has it all- via a Roku Streaming Stick. My Sony BD player can also stream Amazon and Netflix. It's only been in the past few years that modern TVs can reproduce black levels equivalent to or better than a Kuro Elite.

Actually I do see an issue here. There are things that are just broken and cant be repaired, and at times it is obvious upon first inspection. Common sense should say to replace it on first inspection. You dont need three different people coming over at three different times all saying it cant be fixed to get it fixed, once is enough.

The old PT Cruiser came with free car washes for life. Had it washed there once when it was in for warranty work and never went back in 9 years. Just another gimmick.
Tonight I rode home in it as I was at my BIL’s drinking beer and watching fireworks. As “happy” as I was I didn’t want to drive home in my own car.

Didn't know about Roku....that is cool. Before getting a SMART TV I got a DVD player with SMART ability for about $60. Works, but not as easy.
Driver, the streaming sticks that plug into the HDMI (Roku, firestick, apple TV) are quite a bit easier IMO to use than most smart TVs. plus they integrate to your other devices better.
Hate to say it, but I agree with dino here. There really is no room to complain about something that is free.
+1
Did you get your money's worth?
Could you have called ahead and found out how long the wait was going to be?
A few people seem to think this way....I respectfully disagree. Why tell customers you will wash their car if it can't be done in a reasonable amount of time. I asked if I should phone and they said no, just drive in.
I figure the car wash actually helps them in a lot of ways, I might walk around and see a car I want. Also, it keeps it in better condition so when it gets traded in they will get more for it.
I am only here for 7 months, I go there about once every 2 months because it is such a hassle. If i do go there, and they are offering it, then they should do it in a reasonable amount of time. I don't like waiting 45 minutes, but I take a newspaper and book, and I sit in the new cars, so I go with it. But, for 2 hours I would rather pay $20 and get it done in 15 minutes at the car wash.
If they told me it would be over an hour I would have left.
I can't understand why y'all want to run your car through an automated carwash anyway. I won't ever put my care through one of those. Just get out your hose, and wash it in your driveway. And if you can't for some reason, at least find a touchless. They do a lousy job, but at least don't scratch the heck out of it!

I did sit in a $97000 CDN E43 that I really liked. Interior looked like this;
This one is sharp. Slightly overstated, but not ostentatious. Nice lines. Benz has never been my thing, I usually like Audi more (except perhaps their “boat throttle” gear lever), but this interior has very nice lines. I noticed return of more and more metal on dashboards. I prefer other types of inlays: leather, soft plastic, or wood. This one seems having all of them.

My dad always attempted to manage customer complaints in a way to (re-)build customer confidence and ironically to make another sale.
There was an earlier post about the Best Buy Geek Squad that failed to resolve a TV problem under warranty. So the store manager listened to the customer's complaints, offered a deal and made a new sale! That's the way my old man wanted to resolve every complaint.
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing.
You experienced a 2018 car or an E53, E43 is gone now, replaced by an I6 which has to be a step up.
I test drove a demo E43 earlier this year, nice car, but the dealer was playing hardball with the price, so I moved on. It sat for another couple months I think.
Regarding the car wash, my local MB dealer also had a free wash for some time. It eventually got very crowded, the wait could often be 45 mins or more. I started going less and less, then the local light rail project claimed eminent domain on the site, and it was halted, not replaced. Self-serve car wash is $4 tops here (if you know what you are doing), and I usually just use waterless products.
My 10 year old Samsung isn't smart either, but I have a Fire Stick, so no problem. I'll keep using it til it conks out, picture is fine to me, I don't watch a ton of TV anyway. And now TVs are so cheap, when it does go, the replacement will likely be less than half what I paid for this.
In 2005 I believe, I bought a 27" off brand flat panel - I forget what it was, but on a Best Buy Memorial Day sale or something. I want to say it was close to $800. It worked fine, but was not high spec, and when a friend upgraded to a larger panel, I got the itch. I sold the smaller one to my uncle for $75, and I think it quit on him a year later.
I bought a 50” plasma Toshiba in 2005. Not smart, of course, still just 720p. Not running to a store for a new one. I would rather them NOT offer it if they can't do it in a reasonable time. I use the do it yourself wash 80% of the time, I would do a real car wash once a month if they didn't offer this free one. I would never offer a free service and make it a pain to use......that is worse than not having it.

I did the same in business. We had book sales open to the public once a month. Occasionally, a customer bought a book and a few pages might be missing...a printing mistake. I would give them a new one, and tell them to choose another book for free since it cost them time and money to bring it back. I give them a $4 book and they leave happy and tell their friends. Same with the car wash..........it is a bad experience for me, a loyal customer who has bought our last 3 cars there....they have blown a lot of good will by being disrespectful of my time.

That picture is flashier than it looked. The one I sat in had very dark wood, almost black without much grain. The brushed aluminum look I guess is more techie. I love that digital instrument panel though....that is the icing on the cake for me!

I always use a local brushless car wash, no brushes, no rollers under your wheels pushing you through. Just drive in, stop, the washer robot goes around the car a couple of times using high speed jets of water with detergent to wash, then rinse, then blow dry. Drive out to free vacuum area, use a cloth, wipe off any water that the dryer missed, vacuum, on my way. $7.00. This particular wash is at the local Sam's Club. There is also a gas station there and if you fill up there the wash is "free", but I never buy gas there, only at Costco.
I spent the morning of the 4th tackling a couple of minor issues on two of my cars. First I finished replacing a rear speaker on the Club Sport; not all that difficult- it just required a bit of patience. Next I replaced the plastic cowl panels on the Clubman, as being parked outside for nearly a decade did them no favors. Next up: prepping the Club Sport for a couple of car shows.

While the TL that my daughter was given is in very nice condition, little by little I have been attending to the finer details such a cleaning the nooks and crannies inside and out, cleaning the leather, door jambs, underhood, exhaust tips, minor paint touch up, thorough waxing, polished the hazing headlamp covers, replaced the gas hood struts, etc. My daughter was complaining to my wife the other day, why is dad always messing with my car? My wife responded, you know your dad...car crazy, be thankful he wants it to be nice for you.

That’s funny but I bet you’d be the first person she’d call when her car broke down for lack of attention.

@fezo Did you got into your profile and clicked the Edit Profile dropdown on the right side, chose Edit Profile, the changed what's in the Vehicles You Own box and it didn't take? Or did you get stuck along the way?
I no longer have those choices available on the pulldown, just this:
Also the image pulldown wouldn't even give me the "Image URL" legend this time so I had to crib your code to display this.

30K profit on a house in 7 years also has me in amazement. An old co-worker recently sold their house, bought in 2014-15. They paid 500K for it IIRC, sold for 800K, pending in 2 days, and I don't think they did much of anything to it, just a pleasant 70s tract house.

Unfortunately, I can't say the same for their appliances. Our washing machine works great but is rusting away.
I only go a few times a year, it is a pain waiting 45 to 60 minutes for them to wash my car. Today it took over 2 hours. In these situations, I usually like to tell the people in charge, in the hope they will try to improve. I emailed the president of the dealership;
Thanks,

They had a nice light weight windbreaker that was $200 bucks, and a stay-dri tennis shirt that was $99 that could make up for my 2 hours!

The dealership where we bought the wifes car offers free car washes but since it's about a half hour or so away we have never taken advantage of it.

Tonight I rode home in it as I was at my BIL’s drinking beer and watching fireworks. As “happy” as I was I didn’t want to drive home in my own car.

There was an earlier post about the Best Buy Geek Squad that failed to resolve a TV problem under warranty. So the store manager listened to the customer's complaints, offered a deal and made a new sale! That's the way my old man wanted to resolve every complaint.

I wouldn’t take a car I owned and really cared about through one, though.
