I took the Acura out for a drive today. I marvel at what a nice car it is even though it is older. Honda makes a sweet V6, smooth, powerful with a great sound. I appreciate the clear gauges. It has a trip computer that shows a lot of information including the tire pressure of each wheel. Though the graphics and resolution are dated, everything still works. When was the last time you saw a cassette player and CD changer?

GG, I saw one exactly the same as yours last Sunday. I mentioned it here but I think you were still driving around a lot and didn't check in yet. The Stinger really stands out.....looks a little different. The two I have seen recently were white and the other black, both looked great.
I wouldn't expect tremendous gas mileage since they weigh just under 4000 pounds, but, I don't think you buy a car like that expecting to get 37 mpg. Besides, with your savings that pays for a lot of gas.
Most of us don't need a Porsche or Maserati, but, after driving the Altima rental I really like a car that has a fun element to it, and that includes power which adds fun, but, is also an important safety feature when used wisely.

    @driver100 ....
I know you’re really not in the market, but while I didn’t get to test drive it, while I was at the MB dealer test driving the C and E Class, I got to sit in the ‘20 CLA. Mercy....that was really nice inside. If it didn’t have the moniker on it, I would have mistaken it for an S-Class. Very nice. It had the BIG LCD screen for the gauges and User Interface. Seats were comfy. Plenty of room. Might be a solution for your Winter home.
The CLA has come a long way. Mercedes seems to rush into a market and gets a bit sloppy, first edition didn't get great reviews. The 2020 does look like a small S Class, it gets good reviews, and it sure looks nice inside. It will be a few years before I can get a 2 or 3 year old CPO model. But, I don't know if I would buy a car smaller than a C to drive in Florida.....extra metal is good everywhere but here the more metal the better your chances of surviving. One guy yesterday just wanted to kill someone, so he drove past a 70 year old guy walking along the highway....drove back and drove right into him in a PT Cruiser. No, not someone we know, it was a 20 year old kid!

Some cabin air filters seem to be designed to have the vehicle assembled around them. That one did not seem to be easy to change, but maybe it was the guy in the video causing that.

Good article on the Stinger in the local paper from their syndication service. I enjoy Ms. Giacomini's reviews and she does not write puff pieces typically, so her positive comments here are undoubtedly factual. A few good pics also.

    https://www.thechronicleherald.ca/wheels/driven-2019-kia-stinger-gt-limited-20th-anniversary-396547/

Thanks for posting that. Good article. Actually there were several good car review articles and I read them all.
@driver100 , the obits are almost always the single biggest section of the paper except for sports. It is shocking to see how the classifieds have basically disappeared, most days just a single page. I had an online subscription from my old workplace for years and there was usually not much in there worth reading, a situation that was made worse by a long (over a year) strike by their journalist staff when the paper tried to downsize in light of the changes in their circulation. The strike is now over but almost nobody from before that time remains on staff. My subscription has finally ended and I see no reason to buy a new one.
The Hamilton Spectator keeps getting smaller and smaller too. International news is hopeless. But good for local news, though it is owned by Torstar so we know which way they lean. The day of a real newspaper is coming to an end, doesn't make much sense to deliver a daily newspaper, though I still like a real newspaper.
Tampa Bay Times is a bargain, about $50 a year delivered at 4 a.m.

I wasn't a fan of white, silver and other light colors. I liked black, dark blue, maroon and medium jewel colors. However I now gravitate to lighter colors that seem to be easier to keep looking nice and keep the car cooler. Thinking back my opinion of colors was influenced by dad who didn't like white, silver, etc. He said darker colors show off the chrome trim better.

My parents in the '60s and '70s were fans of dark red or maroon as they called it. But they also had 3 white cars over the years. I remember that my dad's '67 Pontiac in white looked very good in that shade and did not seem to be a common paint choice at the time. Your point about chrome showing better with darker colors is true. My '09 Lacrosse had quite a bit of chrome trim but since my car was silver, the effect was somewhat muted. On cars that were darker colors the chrome trim was much more prominent and looked almost overdone.

Thanks. I'll admit I was somewhat smitten from the first time I saw it. The trim, colors, and options are almost perfect. I'd also like HUD and acoustic package, but one can't be too picky about odd options when not special ordering a car.

The E, in wagon form especially, is IMO the ideal MB. In particular with this engine, which is velvety smooth yet quite fast if you call on it, and still returns acceptable mpg. The ride is supple, build quality immense, interior design pleasing. I think it is a traditional MB, and that's something I find appealing.

The car receives mixed reactions - some recoil in horror and say "why did you get a station wagon?!". Others get it, and recognize the subtle elegance of the car, and the rarity. The car being the trim variant with the traditional grille and hood ornament was also a big selling point, I wasn't interested in a "sport" trim car. As ruking says, these don't sell in any volume, especially in this trim. It's not cheap, and in this market, wagons still have a negative stereotype among non-enthusiasts. I've only seen 2 others on the road with the traditional grille/hood ornament, and none with the same wheel option. It is very likely I will never encounter my twin on the road.

Nothing macho about one of the premium brand CUV "coupes" . It's a mall-crawling buggy that might as well be a gasoline-estrogen hybrid.

Nothing macho about a big lifted pickup either, more like overcompensating IMNSHO.

The only person I know with a big lifted pickup works his family farm down state. It spends more time in farm fields than it does on paved roads.
Yeah but I bet he shows it off every Saturday at Cows and Coffee. :p

Technically an option per the spec sheet, but literally every car in nationwide dealer inventory will have it, only possible to exclude it via special order - which nobody would do as lacking it would greatly impact resale value.

I don't mind the large digital display replacing traditional gauges in new M-Bs, but the CLA dash has a couple of design touches that turn me off, maybe because I am old and cranky. I don't like the large expanse of "piano black" (read: shiny black plastic) on the dash, and I really dislike the numerous large round chrome HVAC vents. Those are unattractive whenever M-B used them and need to be replaced with a more understated and integrated-looking design.

Round vents aren't my first choice either. They can look like a cheap throwback early 2000s design. There are two types, the more subtle simple design in my car:

And the more complex design seen on some models with a sporting pretense (CLA included, as in this pic). Some have dubbed this design "cat's bum" :D

Being popular there likely helps, and they carry enough of a price premium in the US to probably just make them profitable. IIRC the E wagon has the wealthiest purchaser demographic of any MB model (I am working hard to bring those numbers down), popular among old money "stealth wealth" types.

You'll see a lot less GLS, G-Wagen, X7 etc in Europe, due to road size, fuel costs, and general image.

    Thanks.

Ideally, I probably would have wanted my car as an E220d (not complaining about the smooth TTV6 of course), but like your dream wagon, not possible on this continent. Cool thing, as Canada has much more sensible private import laws than the US, a Canadian can now import that 15 year old manual diesel wagon, just an ordinary old used car in Europe, a unicorn on this side of the pond.

Nice color combo, basic spec - no xenons, no keyless-go, no pano, and the wood appears to have the fading issue which I believe was a warranty fix. Also has the mistake I see from a lot of sellers - that's a Tex interior, not leather. Most probably can't tell the difference (my car is Tex too, and I am fine with it). As you see, they can command fair resale value.

Could also use vinyl, leatherette, imitation leather, etc. I see numerous ads for Tex cars where the material simply isn't specified. There's usually an easy way to tell in pics, too - MB will use different stitching patterns for Tex or leather, these can change with a model facelift, but usually are quite distinct from one another.

But if the ad uses a template that requires an entry and doesn't have one for the various names for faux leather, yeah.

The foot of snow we got Wednesday is now all gone after a day of temps pushing 50 degrees and some light rain. Good news. Of course the local media weather alarmists are now beating the drum of fear over possible freezing rain later today. There's always something these days. People seem to love to be constantly on edge about even minor weather events. It isn't helped by govt emergency management agencies posting on social media about those same minor events. Maybe stick to actual emergencies, folks.

One funny thing yesterday was that the emergency management bunch posted a tweet that somehow self-corrected the word "ice" to "ice cream". So today as the temps fall, we are at risk of ice cream falling from the skies apparently. I'm hoping for Rocky Road.

    The vents in the 2020 CLA would probably look nicer if they weren't so loud looking. They are very practical in that they can be pointed in all directions, and the louvers can direct the air more accurately. Also, most of the photos shown are looking directly into the vent at vent level, which is not the way you see them when in the car. Maybe more like this;

But, I think they would have been better if toned down....possibly black instead of chrome.

The vents in the 2020 CLA would probably look nicer if they weren't so loud looking. They are very practical in that they can be pointed in all directions, and the louvers can direct the air more accurately. Are air vents optional?

    They are a mandatory option.

took advantage of the spring weather to wash both cars by hand in the driveway. Even was able to open the moonroof later on when we were out running errands. No sun so the wife did not even complain!

We had a nice Midwest winter day, and by that I mean freezing rain mixed with snow and strong winds. Such a nice day that my wife made me take her to see Little Women. I was somewhat disappointed as the women were all normal sized.

Round vents aren't my first choice either. They can look like a cheap throwback early 2000s design. There are two types, the more subtle simple design in my car:

And the more complex design seen on some models with a sporting pretense (CLA included, as in this pic). Some have dubbed this design "cat's bum" :D

I am also a big fan of matte finishes rather than shiny, whether it be wood or plastic.

Then perhaps you might like this 2010 Toyota RAV4 rendetion, a combination of traditional and vents. That way you are not forced to pick; yet both.

My first new car, a 1981 Mustang, didn't have those unsightly vents on the dash just forced air vents coming in by your feet all operated manually. On hot summer days I was often asked why I didn't get a car with A/C my reply was that I was living in Alaska when I bought it, no real need for A/C there.

I thought it was a movie with rednecks who say things like, "Here's the Little Woman". ;)

Some of the plot lines sound intriguing:
    "Trading Spaces"
Caylea moves out of Tiffani's house, as Austin moves in; Wooda leaves Bri; Later, Emily finally feels ready to say goodbye to her son that she lost after months of mourning.
    "Right to Refuse"
Amanda is getting ready for her bodybuilding competition, but she is thrown off when she is asked to take a drug test; Tiffani confronts Caylea over a pricey expense; Later, Caylea's football party ends in disaster.
I'll have to watch for it. Might be good for insomniacs

My estrogen level rose just reading that. I’ll have to take the Mustang out and burn some rubber to recover. :'(

Sounds like the garbage my mom likes to watch on HGTV, the house purchasing/renovating shows which are really thinly disguised propaganda for the FIRE sector. The plotlines are always similar:

He is a 31 year old artisinal dog walker, she is a 29 year old underwater basketweaver, together, they are looking for a starter home in the 900K-1.1MM range.

He is a third tier pro athlete, she is a "model"/"entertainer" - he'd certainly stick around if she didn't take care of herself, she'd certainly be there without the income and status, they have two kids both with "aiden" variation names, will they remodel their house or sell it? Tune in to find out!

Suffice it to say, that channel is verboten when I visit. I don't get what the draw is for this stuff, especially for someone like my mom who has no actual interest in home improvement - I doubt more than $1000 has been spent on renovations to her house in the past 20 years. Fortunately, I have been getting her into the joys of streaming TV, and how an episode of Let's Make a Deal from 1975 is better than 99% of the material on normal TV.
