I was never even on LinkedIn until the job loss. In some ways that’s just FB for professionals. Once I’m back to working (which could be very soon based on an email I received today) I doubt I’ll be on there much at all.

Got my fingers crossed for your job search being successful.

Same down here - $2.59.9 a gallon for premium at Costco. We could see $2.49 a gallon for premium by the end of the month.

Years ago, I had a Twitter and a Facebook account but decided to delete them because I found those accounts to be too intrusive in my life. My email box was filled all the time and I had to change my email to get out from under.

The only social networking account I have is Edmunds because I love cars (as you all know) and some of the posted topics interest me. Besides, my email box is free of all that social networking junk.

I see PUG going to two bucks per gallon at my Costco, if this crude price fall is sustained. Gas prices go up like a rocket and fall like a feather.

Wow, market is down over 1600 points right now with crude oil at just over $32 a barrel. Haven't seen this sustained movement down in my entire life.

Makes me glad I jumped out of the market when I did. I think oil was in for a market correction, anyway.

I think all the financials were overheated and were due for this, regardless of the reason. This isn’t over, yet...not by a long shot.

So the frenzy has hit South Jersey. Stopped at BJs to get supplies for my son’s birthday party Saturday and it’s busier than Christmas time!

Lines are into the aisles. People are buying three or four GIANT cases of paper towels and TP. Wow.

I was reading an article last night that talked about how in situations that are inherently out of our control - like a pandemic - people look for opportunities to take back control. Shopping (retail therapy) is one of those ways and buying things in volume that feel like a good value, helps us feel smart about how we're responding to the situation, even if objectively the action makes zero sense. Of course, then others see one person doing that and everyone starts to do it because they assume it is the right thing to do.

    Psychology is fascinating.

My cousin posted this on social media- this is the lineup at the Federal Way Costco this morning:

It's not as innocent as retail therapy, more of a combination of greed, idiocy, and panic.

Yeah - that looks like the appropriate amount of space between people in line. Costco is going to turn into a cluster of COVID cases at this rate...

Now that the NBA, NHL, NCAA etc. have suspended or temporarily cancelled their seasons, can Major League Baseball be far behind? Now that I have been staying in my condo all day, there won't be any sports on TV. 😩😩😩

What am I going to do with myself while my left eye is recuperating from surgery? I have hundreds and hundreds of channels on the cable TV, but how many times can you watch the "John Wick" trilogy, "Star Wars" 10 episodes, "Harry Potter" 8 episodes, "The Day After Tomorrow", and reruns of scores of TV shows?

Even though I have Netflix and Prime Video, I have seen most of the good films. I just pray I can find some movies that are worthwhile.

I wonder if buying/leasing a new car can save you thousands of dollars. After all, who goes out to buy a car with a pandemic raging?

I have 7 payments left on my lease @ $629 including tax. If I could get a 0% loan for 60-72 months with a purchase price on an E450 $3000 below invoice (including USAA incentive) it could be enticing.

I like what Publix is doing....limiting it to 2 items per customer of any sanitizing products...Lysol, soap, alcohol, rubber gloves, etc. Kind of quells some of the panic.

I am just back from buying a few groceries and while I saw no evidence of panic buying or hoarding here, I think the news has turned people into stunned zombies. I saw a number of illegal turns where I never see such things being done, an almost complete lack of turn signal use, moronic behavior in parking lots, and a total lack of self-awareness in stores, with people blocking aisles with carts, and others wandering around aimlessly and obliviously bumping into others.

Oh wait... it's just a normal day here. :D

One thing that truly did drive me nuts was a mom in a supermarket with a 10-12 y-o girl in tow. The kid was coughing virtually nonstop over everything and everyone. I kept my distance. I'm surprised nobody said anything, but there were lots of dirty looks.

My mom just walked in with more TP, just looked in the closet and we have 18 rolls. I think we will make it.

My son has a little post nasal thing going on that is making him cough a bit. No fever or any other symptoms so hoping it goes away in a day or two. Really don't want to take him to the doctors if I can avoid. It hasn't slowed him down any that's for sure.

I've got a few suggestions to keep you occupied:

F1 - Drive to Survive (Netflix) is a documentary about the last two Formula 1 seasons. Not sure how much of a racing fan you are, but there are some good in depth profiles of both the drivers, the team principals and owners, plus an explanation of how things run in F1 as they traverse the globe for races.

Jack Ryan (Amazon) is an up to date series based on the classic Tom Clancy characters. Two seasons, so far, and they move pretty quickly. I resisted watching them, initially, as I'm such a big fan of the novels (I've got first edition hardbacks of all but his first book). But, once I started watching season 1, I was hooked.

I'm sure others will chime in with their personal favorites, as well. I'm expecting most major sports to shut down for the time being, given the NBA's lead on this.

AS long as Mike doesn't close Chick Fil A locations. LOL

We go to one in his home county because it's the only one in the area that's
spot on with the way the stores used to be.

I can imagine a lot of parents will be pulling their hair out after 3 weeks of
having their kids at home. In many cases, the parents will deserve that grief

A little more info on that is that the area of homes next to the campus is the "ghetto." It's owned by the church, the University of Dayton, and the small homes have been refurbished and updated to code as UD bought them. I recall a decade or so back many were typical mixed campus housing. It's a little like the clusters of homes east of High Street across from The Ohio State University in Columbus.

The celebrations by the UD students, fueled by alcohol, testosterone, and springtime, usually included burning furniture in the streets. I think I recall the University and Police/Fire department coming up with plans to stop the fires. Maybe it was a matter of timing when Spring Break was scheduled vs St Patrick's Day.

Currently UD was to have played in the basketball playoffs and has been ranked nicely for quite a while. They will be disappointed by the cancellation of games, if I recall the news right.

The First Four games were to have been played here in Dayton that finish the placement in the schedules. That's a major loss of income to bars and restaurants and hotels.

I don't watch as much TV as I used to, so I'm sure there are lots of shows that might appeal to you.
