For washers (dishwashers too) all though fancy settings are a complete waste to me. We just set it to normal stuff (cold wash, warm rinse I think) and the only control touched after that is load size. Wife might use delicates once in a great while. And I refuse to use an app to do laundry.

Our DW has all kinds of settings. We only ever use normal wash, heated dry.

The point behind the washing machine story is that this is like some of the touch screen control
systems on cars now. Some are a whole lot more logical and some are less.

After reading and trying, I realized the earlier computer system now has been
formatted into this kind of programming.

I'll eventually download the app just to see. Hope it's not like the heart
$99 thing from Amazon where you have to sign up for a monthly membership to
be able to use it beyond a basic level--if I understand the comments?

Does anybody have one of these?

Just for the record - I checked early this morning and it said mine was deposited on 4/15/20 so it does work.
Still nothing for me. This is making me rethink my decision to be an off the grid hermit. :'(

Disinfectants are still unavailable, masks nowhere to be found. I went to Walmart couple of days ago - no fabric, no rubber bands, nothing that can be used for mask. Amazon - everything that's relevant has delivery in late May or June, at exorbitant prices. It is challenging my Almighty USA picture.

WHOA, hold on there. When we built our first house in 1969, our washer and dryer were Avocado Green and our kitchen appliances were Harvest Gold which went very well with the walnut stained kitchen cabinets. The new washer is so quiet. I didn't realize how the old one had gotten noisy.

However, I have a long history with technology, but setting this unit to do what I want
on the wash cycle is a pay grade above. LOL

It has a large capacity soap dispenser that you fill once in a while. It can be adjusted to
dispense more or less soap. That's a strange dude to get to for setting. There's a button
for Load and Go, meaning it's automatic. Hit again and you have to manually add
your soap. All kinds of modifications to the cycle chosen... Gonna take a while.

The model I got connects to the internet. The dryer also has steam capability which
    I chose not to connect.

Connected to the internet? Great now we're going to get notifications when your shorts are done. :(
Great, so now you can have some hacker taking control of your spin cycle.

What’s the internet connection for, does it talk to you or just email you? I’d hate to get a call from my washer laughing about my socks.
My guess is so that you can do things like check the status of the machine, get notifications or make adjustments to cycles remotely.

That's OK as long as you don't wake up in the middle of the night with the washer standing over you with a menacing look on its control panel.

Re Costco....they state it clearly, if at anytime you are dissatisfied with the products they sell or their customer service, they will gladly refund your membership fee and cancel your membership. The lady with the kids was out of bounds. The sign outside the store was large, clear and quite legible limiting entrance to members to two per membership. Regardless of the reason, the lady was upset because they didn’t make an exception for her (or anyone else for that matter), her membership would be cancelled and refunded if she chose. Instead, even though they offered her a resolution, she chose to [non-permissible content removed] about it instead. Onus is on her.

From the “kinda made me feel good dept”.....when I go to Costco, I usually am there solo. I don’t go in there every day, but probably 2-3 times a month, mainly for paper goods and the afore mentioned Kirkland Vitamin Water. I always stop by the electronics dept to see if they have anything new and different I might be interested in.

There’s a lady working that dept most times and since we see each other we exchange small talk. Last time I was in, she teased me about the very “unflattering” mask I was wearing. I returned the favor. She’s worked there for a while, and I’ve been a member since that particular store opened (maybe late 90s, early 00s). Anyway, asking her if there had been any furloughs, she said a few. But, given her tenure, she gets to pretty much pick and choose her hours, although now, they’re limited to 10-6:30 most days, now.

She was happy for more normal retails hours, and that given her tenure, they hadn’t reassigned her to getting carts, cleaning trash baskets, or working in the food depts.

Out of the blue, she mentioned...”you’re here alone all the time, I assume your wife lets you do all the shopping?” I replied the wife thing had sailed a long time ago. She then mentioned that after this whole virus thing is over, we should grab a cup of coffee or perhaps a beer. I told her I’d take her up on her offer.

Made me feel like I had a little more worth and put a smile on my face.

They continually lie, they are never wrong, they have no empathy, they feel entitled to have whatever you have and many more terrible traits. But, your statement houdini has a lot of truth in it...because, we are all on the scale somewhere.

    .

Agree with comments about lady at Costco. Another thing is, she abused the Costco employee and a customer, so I am sure her and her kids are not the kind of people who will act responsibly under the circumstances.

About the nice lady trying to pick you up.......maybe you should buy a black Altima and seal the deal.

Benjamin posted.some on the Accord Hybrid, but I came across a Honda Accord Hybrid yesterday when checking dealership stock. I had pretty much discounted it before, have to say I'm a bit intrigued. In looking at some video reviews there seems to be a noticeable jump in power when going from the hybrid 2.0 engine and twin batteries over the 1.5 liter turbo. Confusing as technically there's no transmission? Great torque off the line.I would think with gas prices !ow, a better.deal may be had. About a grand more for the hybrid.

My main concern, on that hybrid, would be how long those batteries would last and how much $ to replace them. Honda warranties the batteries for 8 years, they're expected to last around 10 years. I've read anywhere from $2,,000 to $4,000 to replace them. About the cost of a new transmission.LOL,

An Australian family accidentally ordered $3,264 worth of toilet paper when they bought 48 boxes instead of 48 rolls. She thought she was ordering one box of 48 rolls, but bought 48 cartons. There is a shortage so she was able to sell the extra cartons to friends and relatives.

I have similar concerns....plus, there is more that can go wrong and it could be harder to find a mechanic who will work on it. But, if they can sell a loaded hybrid for $30000 they should be able to sell the same model without hybrid for a few $1000 less - you would think.

Uh oh. You are being stalked. Good for you.
Proper reply would have been, "What virus thing, what time do you get off tonight?"

“ My son said, Daddy this car is too fast. I had to laugh.“

That’s what my son says when he rides with me in the Mustang. He’s 35. :p

Funny, neck snapping acceleration and torque always just makes my face smile. Was driving the TTS yesterday and might have exceeded the special vehicle code for 100 over in an undisclosed location where no one can see me if I can't see them.

I swear, if my state mandates facial covering, I am wearing this (I know I posted it before):

Can't find a mask to save your life here, and the cloth napkin and rubber bands one I made myself is about as effective as covering my mouth with my hand.

Maybe not as bad, but I picked up a couple extra mega packs for my mom. She's in a small town effectively at the end of the supply chain, and says TP there is still hard to find (I went to the store yesterday in my Seattle-adjacent suburb around 10am and they had plenty). She said one store was breaking up packs and selling it by the roll. What a world.

Nice. I can't find my full face motorcycle helmet. I have a 3/4 helmet with visor I used for scooters, but the hockey shield has better visibility, and the metal bars might make people keep their distance.

Our washer/dryer set is the grey. We like it.

I like the look. I can't let my wife see this picture or she'll want to switch them out for the chrome shadow!!!
I really like the gray too. But, white is safer...... Getting colored appliances reminds me of olive green and gold.
Avocado Green and Harvest Gold !
WHOA, hold on there. When we built our first house in 1969, our washer and dryer were Avocado Green and our kitchen appliances were Harvest Gold which went very well with the walnut stained kitchen cabinets. At the time they were la-de-da and we were the talk of the hood, in a good way. Nothing wannabe be about those colors back then. :@

They were awful then and they’re awful now. It’s okay, we had them too.

@jipster — interested for hear your take on the hybrid. I wouldn’t worry about battery replacement. Most of these have been around a long time and have a good reputation. It’s one of the things you worry about before you own this technology, and then find you never think about it.

Publix was about out of tp yesterday, maybe 4 packs of Charmin left, that's it! This is crazy really, absolutely crazy! Why would folks hoard tp in the first place? So far, we're fine here as I've always kept an adequate supply in the house. Kids are all fine with it to it seems.

Without having used the app, I can infer from the way the panel operates. My old Cabrio had buttons and a rotating dial in the middle for picking cycle types. The buttons modified temp, spin speed, extra rinse, etc.. Things could be changed after the cycle started. However, the new one has everything picked before the cycle start button is pushed. There are buttons on the left to pick cycle, then buttons on the right to modify that cycle in some cases, and a row of small buttons along the bottom to modify. A few bottom buttons can change things after the cycle started, I think.

But the algorithm is run through on the machine, or by touching buttons on the app. And then you push start and the process goes. Almost no changes after that.

So you can sit and watch cable news while you set up the machine for the clothes you already put in. There is no way to put the clothes in remotely, yet. LOL

It has taken reading instructions to understand the new machine vs the old. The laundry detergent is metered in based on the strength of the HE detergent you use. That is one modification to be made in the steps--or you can turn off the automatic detergent and do it yourself.

The machine also has a squirter with a button on the left under the lid so you can water down stains on clothes, e.g., (choose hot or cold), and a little scrub brush on the other side that you fill with stain remover or detergent and brush the spot in advance while putting those clothes in. I knew these features were on the one my darling bride liked, so we just bought the TLX model washer.

Installers didn't do a good job of leveling. So I'm going to have to redo the legs. Not easy in that end of our utility room because of width.

The toilet paper thing is the most bizarre of them all. Everybody laughs and everybody jumps to get a box when it's there. Monkey see, monkey do...
