That's insulting. My first post about looking for a new car was April 2nd.... of this year. So, it's been less than 2 weeks I've been researching and test driving cars.
You're doing great jip....not much car buying going on around here or anywhere it seems. We are living our dreams through you...you have a big responsibility on your shoulders.

*Actually, you have done really well to test so many cars under these conditions.....and checking in with updates too. Thanks, it is my main entertainment for the day!

Thx driver. I received an email from Jeff Wyler in Florence, Kentucky. They made a "limited time offer" of $24, 359 for a new 2020 Accord EX. Honda World was $29,100 OTD. This could be the miracle I've been hoping for! But the Wyler group is a slippery bunch, I'll have to proceed with caution if I go with that group. I think I'll send a text to my Honda World salesman and see if they'll match the price. Would rather buy from Honda World because of their lifetime warranty.
Be sure you're comparing apples to apples with pricing, and to get a full understanding of what OTD means.

That’s only on some cars. Older ones you certainly can. Only the fobless ones do it.

Well the BMW wouldn't let me lock it with the fob inside.

As for older cars, my first car was a 70 Dodge Coronet, it was impossible to lock the keys inside that car as to lock the car from outside you had to use the key. If you locked the door it would unlock as you closed it, even with the door handle button depressed.

speaking of washers, was discussing washers/dryers with my son, since he is closing on a house in a month and will need to get a set. I recommended top load, but he seems set on getting a front load set. His call! we pointed out the need to work on keeping mold at bay, and he is aware.

Mrs D only gets top loaders....you can add more clothes to them once they start up. Also, no need to bend over to put clothes in or out.
That's my finding. The mold problem with the front-loading washers was a negative for me. I found the one I liked and the fact that our friends in N Ky had had one for a year or more and they really liked that model made it easy to buy one that's top loading.

But just like cars, to each his own. When someone sees what they like, that's great.

I noticed the "trend" of the last few years is gone in the laundry section of displays. The colors like red are gone. They have a champaign in some foreign brands and a gray color from Whirlpool/Maytag. But the salesman said they don't display any for W/M in color steel gray because they sell so few. They can have them ready to deliver in a day were someone to order them. But it's back to basic white. Fine with me. My wife wanted to see the "chrome shadow" as the gray is named, but decided white was alright since she liked it.

Delivery this afternoon between 12:30 am and 4:30 pm, according to the recorded message that came early at 7 pm last evening. The message threated if anyone has a cough, etc., they'll deliver to the doorstep. WHOA,

I'll be happy to wear a mask and stay 6 feet away from the work. I just want them to hook up the hot and cold correctly on the washer this time. 13 years ago they had them reversed. I realized that afternoon that the rinse was getting full hot water when set on cold. LOL

The really neat thing about the washers is that an agitator post in the middle is offered on the W/M models on many of the models: they're available with or without. Some like them for large bulky loads because they will agitate the large bedspreads some stuff in. My concern is that the force if agitating is stressful on the hems and sewing areas. So I stayed with no agitator--just the little vanes on the floor of the washer to move the water.

    It's science, folks. LOL

MSRP on the Accord Sport 2.0T is 31,200 plus whatever dealer accessories they throw on.

I'd double check the feature list of the Sport 2.0T to make sure it does what you need - it is very well equipped (heated seats, LED headlights, safety nannies etc) but is missing the upgraded audio, memory seats, and leather of the EX-L.

Assuming $28,050 OTD includes tax at ~7% and another $500 in doc and registration fees, that puts sale price at $25,700 plus TTL. That's an 18% discount for a 2019 with 4000 miles.

It isn't bad. I'd be shooting for 20%+ personally, but if it has never been titled before and is therefore new (e.g. the warranty will go 3 years and 36k from the inception mileage on the ODO) then could be a good deal.

It's.a.certified 1 owner..The 1 owner being within the dealership. The salesman said it was either a loaner or an executive's car.
Hmmmm...I hate when they do that. Only way it’s a used car is if it was previously titled. If it was a loaner, it was never titled. Not sure how that works with an “exec” car. That’s always nebulous, at best. The dealership would retain it as an in-stock unit if it was driven by one of their “exec” team.

    Something doesn’t sound right.

I like the idea of buying new from Honda World, because if I go with the 1.5 engine they have the lifetime powertrain warranty.

Did you read fine print for this warranty to be executable? Maintenance at dealer on their schedule, for example?

Went last night to Costco to get some of my much loved and treasured Kirkland Vitamin Water.

No lines, per se, but they were only letting 2 people in per membership. Some lady, with 3 kids in tow, insisted the rules didn’t apply to her since the people with her were her kids. Poor door monitor tried to explain that it didn’t matter how they people were or weren’t related to the card holder, only 2/membership were allowed in. She asked me if I could have one of her kids go with me. NO! I explained to her she still couldn’t get in because that would mean she had 3 people with her.

She cussed me and the door monitor. What is with people?

Anyway, not sure if any people use the tiny hi res action cams, but I do. When I ride my bike on the trails, when I go on vacation, special events, etc, I use one to keep track of the event. I enjoy adding music and editing my footage to keep for my perusal.

I had been using a GoPro 3 for these duties. It’s about 7 years old. And, although rugged, mounting it on my bike, dropping it, tossing it in and out of my luggage, etc it’s pretty much outlived usefulness (although it still works) and is just one more shock away from biting the bullet. The battery door is now being held on by a small sliver of home made duct tape.

Costco had a deal on a GoPro Hero8, which is the current top of the line GoPro. It’s waterproof (without using a bulky water proof case), records in 4K and has the best image stabilization in the biz (something very important for an action cam). These things at Best Buy are $400.

Costco has them, with a case, two batteries, a 32GB SD card, and a GoPro handle mount for $289. Still contemplating getting it. But, for those who do any sort of video, that’s a screaming deal. That’s about a $500 bundle.

Looking at my current GoPro and trying to decide if it’s time for me to say adios to it. It’s seen a whole lot of family outings, vacations, bike rides, lots of world wide geography.

I was just reading a local fakebook site group page for our community. A car repair facility said they were taking cleanliness measures in their (small) waiting area and they had touchless delivery where THEY WOULD LOCK YOUR KEYS INSIDE YOU CAR FOR YOU TO PICK IT UP.

I wonder what could go wrong

That’s pretty stupid. Everyone knows that you leave the keys over the sun visor and the doors unlocked like my mechanic does.

It's all good guys. Thinking of spending all that money has the ole jipster a little stressed out. LOL.

@benjaminhf I did see those Honda incentives the other day. Thx. And a sunrise red (?) Civic did catch my eye the other day at Jeff Wyler. Hadn't seen this particular color before. Pretty cool. I was a bit surprised at how much bigger and nicer the 2020 Civic is over the 2012 I leased. Almost asked for a test drive, but I was tired, and the traffic on Dixie Highway was horrendous.

On looking at cars during this corona crisis, yeah, it can be a bit unnerving at times. At Honda World they had me wait in the customer service lounge, which had about 10 people waiting on their car. I had a mask on, but many customers waiting on their cars did not. There were signs posted saying masks were available. Maybe they were out. My salesman 's mask kept sliding down the front of his nose. Looked like he had been wearing it for a month, as it was stretched and worn. On the plus side, salesmen don't.run after you and talk you up as much. Most are like, "Here are the keys....see you back whenever." The Acura lady followed me in her car when I test drove the TLX , and the Fusion guy jumped in the car with me, which he shouldn't have done. He was the nontalking salesman I had spoke of earlier. Nice guy....but you have to talk to sell a car, dude.. :worried:

    ab348....dont.forget the Optima..:-)
Doubt I'll look at the Civic, but they were much nicer than what I remember.

I still want you to drive that Civic, it's bigger than the accord was in 2012, just to see what you think. You are really giving us some good reviews so keep it up, and please forgive any tongue in cheek humor.

@tjc78 - Did I read correctly about you turning down a Black/Black S60 that was $40 per month LESS? You have a 2 year or 3 year lease?

    Yes I did.

My S60 was 50K and the lease on the brand new one was $465 36/10 with $465 down. I had my choice of a few colors. This was a solid deal that took about two weeks to dial in. It more or less matched the broker deals on Leasehackr.

Right before I committed to this deal, the SM calls me to offer an identical S60 loaner with almost 4K miles IIRC. It was black on black. Deal was $422 / $422 down. Spoke to the wife and she agreed that I’d never be happy with the colors and the savings wasn’t worth it.

If it was a different color on the outside I may have been more interested in doing it, but black on black is probably my least favorite combo.
Better to get the car you want, then you will still like it after a long time...may actually cost less in the long run. Definitely worth $1 a day to get the car you really want using the Driver averaging system.

Agree, never "settle" on on car or buyers remorse will set in immediately.

I was thinking about the colored appliances. Our home is 14 years old...we have been here for 12 years. It came with black appliances in the kitchen....stove, microwave, fridge, dishwasher. They seemed OK at the time, but we'd rather have white.....just don't think they are all going to go at once. We replaced the dishwasher, but that is all. I don't even know if they sell black anymore.

They do still sell black. If one piece goes, often people will replace the whole set.

Did you replace the DW with something else like stainless? If so, match that.

I never cared for black appliances. Just not my thing.

The new washer is so quiet. I didn't realize how the old one had gotten noisy.

However, I have a long history with technology, but setting this unit to do what I want
on the wash cycle is a pay grade above. LOL

It has a large capacity soap dispenser that you fill once in a while. It can be adjusted to
dispense more or less soap. That's a strange dude to get to for setting. There's a button
for Load and Go, meaning it's automatic. Hit again and you have to manually add
your soap. All kinds of modifications to the cycle chosen... Gonna take a while.

The model I got connects to the internet. The dryer also has steam capability which
    I chose not to connect.

Our house came with poppy red Frigidaire appliances in 1975/76 for the bicentennial. Not the orange red like flower pots, poppy red. A unique color. It was built by people who ran a jewelry store.

So we got biscuit Maytag appliances. And then replaced them with stainless a few years back for the kitchen.

House originally had yellow kitchen counter tops and a floor of square tiles with a yellow tone fitting with the Mexican theme to the exterior design. One room had medium blue carpeting for the bicentennial theme--red, white, and blue.

My grandma's modern early 60s rambler still has a bronze countertop range and hood, original to the house. Up until 10-15 years ago it still had the original bronze fridge and wall oven too, but a shelf on the fridge broke and couldn't be fixed, and the range door wasn't sealing right, so she replaced them.

The kitchen has kind of maple finish cabinets and seafoam green mottled pattern countertops, both also original. The original kitchen flooring was kind of like mother of pearl pieces with gold glitter embedded, pretty cool, but one area developed a crack after 45 years and she couldn't find a similar replacement, so it was just replaced with laminate. However, the same flooring survives in the laundry room. They don't build em like they used to.

From the "Who Didn't See This Coming" dept.: I am having more issues with SiriusXM today.

    They are offering a 30-day free streaming thing right now. I think it was an ad on a website. So I clicked the button and it took me through a fairly painless setup process. Finished, and hey presto, I am streaming on my PC! That is not all that useful to me, but they have an app, so I d/l it. Because I am in Canada I can only get the Canadian version of the app. I enter the login and password I just set up, it rejects it. I need to set everything up again on the Canadian site. {sigh}

So I go there, see the same button for free streaming, click it. Give them the same setup info, pick the same login name and PW, no go. It just sits there. The only thing it will let you do is reactivate the trial account that came with the ATS, for which you need a radio ID and (guess what) a CC #. So much for free streaming. Miserable !@#$%$#@!s. They just can't help themselves.

So my first assistant insisted that she give me a breather tomorrow as I've been the only attorney in the office for over a month(we are now shut down until May 31st). As a result I'm taking the Clubman to my BMW dealer to get an oil change and to have the upstream O2 sensor sorted once and for all. While I'm there I hope to take the 540i xDrive out for a test drive, and possibly an X3 M40i as well. The G30 has been on the lot since 3/11 and the price has dropped $3,500 to $38,000.
I'd probably still go with the GTS if the local Kia dealers weren't so sketchy.

Sketchy Kia dealers? You don't say!

Is the GM from Kia of El Cajon watching? He was definitely monitoring that Google Review. Best most responsive "response" a customer ever receives from them is a negative review on Google.

Well, maybe not a responsive, best, or good response, but timely for sure.

I'm siding with the lady here. As a family with one kid, and knowing how hard that is to raise them, I sympathize with those that have 2, 3, 4, or even more kids.

It took having a baby for me to empathize for the single moms out there.

Also, since Costco precharges for memberships, they shouldn't be able to change any rules on the fly (maybe only annually), or if they do, they should have offered that lady a full refund for her yearly dues at a MINIMUM.

This is an example of horrid customer service. Another example is Albertsons in CA charging 10 cents a bag because that's the law. They won't let you use reuseable bags, even if you certify they haven't been used in 72 hours. Trader Joes did this correctly, they waive the $0.10 charge on new bags. You want to change the rules, YOU PAY FOR IT!

The store was perfectly right in what they did. We're living through a whole new situation and some rules need to be changed "on the fly" as we go. We just need to adopt for awhile until things get back to normal...we need to be a bit flexible and not cry if we can't always get our way! Just like the folks who try and take 3 or four of a certain item when now, on a temp basis, only one is allowed so more folks can get. Go with the flow and soon, things will get back to normal and folks can be rude and mean again!

There's a big difference between limiting an item (which they've always done to some degree if you've looked closely, it just was usualy higher, like 5 per customer), and not letting a lady with her kids into the store.

If the kids are old enough (like 10+?) to run around safely the parking lot causing mayhem while she shops, that would be one thing, but I wouldn't leave my 6-year old outside alone.

A friend passed on this information about keeping your car COVID free....came from a friends BMW dealership.
    It listed all the parts to clean...steering wheel, all buttons, touch screens, etc.....what we would know, but it did say this....just to warn you DIYers (like JMonroe);
“Whatever you do, don’t use bleach or hydrogen peroxide on the inside of your car…they will likely damage your car’s upholstery,” said Consumer Reports. “And do not use ammonia-based cleaners on car touch screens, as they can damage their anti-glare and anti-fingerprint coatings.

1)If they let a mother in with 10 kids that means 10 people have to wait outside until they leave. She should leave her kids at home...they shouldn't be in a store anyway, they could be carriers.

2)True, stores should be using plastic bags, but, sign a waver the bags haven't been used for 72 hours.....impossible to police! I wouldn't trust reused bags unless they were mine. They could charge 10 cents a bag so it goes to the government, and then deduct the cost of bags as their expense.

    1. Easier said then done if you don't have a child care provider, and even if you do, that's $$$$.
    2. I should give some background on the fascist State of California affairs. It is already normal for people to use reuseable bags in CA, they are Permanent bags everyone individually owns and reuses for groceries. The reason for this is a recent law took it from "encouraged" to "enforced" by tacking on a 10 cent penalty for every recyclable bag you forgot to bring with you. Stores like Sprouts used to do it the right way, where you'd get a DISCOUNT REWARD for bringing your own bags, not the way the Government has mandated, with is a PENALTY EXTRA FEE for every bag you forget. Now with COVID 19, CA has realized some of their policies are stupid, and has banned the use of reusable bags, even your own for your own use.

I took my own bags to Trader Joes, and another customer in the 6' spacing line to get in told me I couldn't use them, which an employee repeated right after. Said he'd save my spot while I put the bags back in the car. I can't even use my own bags even if I insist. This is why I take offense to being charged 10 cents. Trader Joes smartly avoided the offense by stating the bag fees are waived, and they were. Albertsons acts like it's OK to charge the fee against people's free will.

    1) So other people - paying customers have to stand outside in the heat, or cold, snow or rain so Mom can take the kids to the grocery store during a pandemic!
    2) They don't want bags with the virus coming into the store or being put on the counter.....or employees having to handle them.

Some, like single parents, may not have familial support, access to or funds for child care, or otherwise able to make arrangements to have their child or children supervised while they do their essential errands.

Connected to the internet? Great now we're going to get notifications when your shorts are done. :(
Great, so now you can have some hacker taking control of your spin cycle.

What’s the internet connection for, does it talk to you or just email you? I’d hate to get a call from my washer laughing about my socks.

I think it just has to be clear who's paying for the so-called safety measures. It was not the intent of the legislature to force the public to pay 10 cents per bag. The intent was to encourage you to use reusable bags.

....I received an email from Jeff Wyler in Florence, Kentucky. They made a "limited time offer" of $24, 359 for a new 2020 Accord EX....

That's a really good price. What colors?
They have one EX....in silver with gray interior. Which is fine.

Just received an itemized OTD price from Jeff Wyler..Apparently the price they sent me didn't include destination charge. I told you all they were a slippery bunch.
    Price $24,359
    Destination $1,045
    Doc fee. $299
    Ky sales tax. $1,542
    Fees $90

    Out the door. $27, 335
So about a grand more than I expected.
No mention of dealer add ons. Which I'll check on.

I had already asked if Honda Universe would match the $24,359 price. Wait ing to hear back.

I went to test drive the Mazda 6 at Oxmoor. On the way the saleslady text me that the sales manager won't allow a test drive because I didnt fill out two forms,.print them out, and bring them in. Earlier she had said dont worry about the forms. Just send in my signature.

Neil Huffman wants me to come back in to look at the 6 again. I asked for her most aggressive price, as I was looking to buy an Accord. She sent me an OTD price that was $1,200 more than Oxmoor Mazdas price. I called her on it. Said she would match it.

Oh, and get this, I go to pick up the repaired Hyundai Veracruz from Oxmoor, they try to charge me about $100 more than I agreed to for the tune up. I tell the service advisor. Says he doesn't remember saying that price, but he'll take care of it. This was a really nice kid, so couldn't help but think the service manager put him up to it. But.... it could have been an honest mistake.

Edit: O.k Jeff wylerr said destination wasn't included...in fine.print at the bottom. So maybe they aren't so slippery after all.

In AZ they encourage you to make your own mask if you can't get one. Using a fabric you have around the house is fine and works with strings or elastic bands to hold in place. Just make sure it can slide down over your nose and mouth plus they can be reused after laundering.
