I put Hershey’s Miniatures on a snack table outside my door for the trick-or-treaters.

Now, let me get this straight. You live in a retirement community in Florida which probably has restrictions for anyone younger than 55 or 60 or 65 -- whatever. Have you ever had anyone come around in past years to collect trick-or-treat bounty? If so, they're being trucked in from elsewhere -- not that there's anything wrong with that..

Yes, we usually get kids with their “GRANDPARENTS” every year - but not this year for some reason. Probably due to the COVID-19. Just because this is a 55+ community doesn’t mean we don’t have kids around.😜🤓

Need an update from TJC to see how the great moving adventure went, and learn if they lost anyone in all the extra SF.

The move (other than the awful weather) went great. Movers did an awesome job.

We still have a lot to do and buy but well on our way.

Kids rooms are fully set and the kitchen is done. Everything else is in progress.

I’ve been in this house 23 years. It’s still a work in progress. I can guarantee there are still some boxes downstairs that have never actually been unpacked.

Weather has finally broke down here. 76 and a slight breeze right now and it's delightful out. Can't wait for some cool weather to come our way and just stay put for awhile. Love when we can turn the a/c off as the cinder block house tends to keep the coolness in for a few days. Am so ready to make a move but the timing just ain't right. Still have my sights set on 2024 and then plan to move somewhere north of here. We moved in during the start of summer 1987 before our youngest was born. Since we live on a cul-de-sac in a family area, this house is crying out for a young family. Let someone come in, gut the place and make it their own.

Makes me wonder if anyone has successfully swapped the VIN # and stickers on a "cheap" vehicle with the "expensive" one.

An acquaintance (not really a friend) owns a high end audio store in a nice neighborhood. While, it’s small, it is broken up into different listening/watching rooms. He buys and sells used equipment, too. Most of his gear is way too large and/or heavy to steal. However, he does get a significant amount of traffic from people who want to sell/return high buck gear. Mostly folks who are upgrading (or are dumping gear for monetary reasons) come to sell him used equipment.

Then, you have the folks who clearly are trying to fence stolen equipment. Since he’s the only store locally that sells those brands, and he knows where most of the equipment is installed (because he did the install), he can tell hot merchandise pretty quickly. He tells the thief he has to go to the back room to look up the value of the equipment. From that point, it’s a quick call to the local police. Sometimes they get there while the perp is still in the store. Sometimes, if it takes too long, they’ll bolt and leave the hot merchandise behind.

From that point, it’s a pretty easy trace to find the true owners as they’ve reported it stolen.

Halloween night, at a friends house in Chula Vista, CA. Apparently not the best neighborhood.

I left two of those folding "mini-canopy" Big Lot canvas chairs and a bag of what can best be described as my daughter's Halloween party "goodies" bag, by the back of the Tiguan parked alongside the sidewalk in front of the house, but I didn't have the keys. Came back what must have been only 15 minutes later, and it was all gone. Stolen! Luckily the canvas chairs were at the end of their long life, but the goody bag made me mad, because they stole it from my 6-year old daughter!

Lesson learned, don't leave even decades old folding chairs in certain neighborhoods unattended; not even for a minute.

I would say no as cars are tracked in inventory individually by the VIN number (yes I know that's redundant) I would think that someone would notice that the 8 series BMW is coming out on the paperwork as a 2 series. Especially since there are pretty decent penalties if their recorded inventory of cars does not match their physical inventory.

We have about 50-60 totes / boxes in the storage room. A good bit of it is Christmas decorations and other seasons.

Our plan is Thanksgiving weekend when we have the four days is to go through every box in preparation to decorate for the holiday. Anything we don’t want will be disposed of or donated.

There are two attics here (one over garage, other over the main part of house) I really don’t want to ever have to use them.

Sounds like Mike is trying to chase what he lost that caused Edd to leave. Show has lost a lot of the gear head appeal it used to have.

I was surprised to learn that Mike Brewer was owner of a number of car dealerships in the UK. He always seemed more actor than businessman.

While they will swap VINs between a totaled car and a stolen car, it will be of the same make and model, otherwise the VIN would give it away. Now it's harder to do that as todays cars have the VIN stamped in more places.

Not wanting to start an election topic...
Morning talk show on radio is having callers report how busy their polling place was compared to other years. Sort of an anecdotal way to gauge overall turnout.

BUT after my UDF coffee listening to those radio reports I went by Kroger, and there was a a line -- AT THE STEEL GATES TO THE LIQUOR STORE inside Kroger. LOL

I remember an earlier show (either before WD or in it's early days) that Mike had, where he found different options for a buyer and showed them to him or her. And it was through his used car lot. No clue if he ever had a new car franchise (I think though he just had used lots before getting into TV)

Every state should go to it. Just need to get better organized. And of course, reopen the post office.

I assume CO is like Oregon, and many people just drop off ballots instead of actually mailing them?

Washington is mail voting as well. We got our ballots weeks ago and dropped them off at the drop box down the street the next day. Was able to see it was counted that night online. No fuss. We could have mailed them back, but if USPS can’t get bills delivered to me on time...

Just came back from voting at the firehouse. As usual there was no wait, one of the perks of living in the boonies. Turn out must be up this year because the guy in front of me got flagged as an “inactive” voter requiring him to fill out an affidavit of some sort. He took it personally claiming he was very active.😂

Back to future again. I just watched a longish YouTube video on the 2021 Hyundai Azera (aka Grandeur) and it looks elegant and premium in tuxedo black. They mentioned that it is just a refresh but to me it is more than cosmetic as there are major changes to the exterior and interior.

Should Hyundai bring back the Azera to the US it perhaps would cannibalize its own Sonata, Genesis and Kia sales akin to what the Accord has done to Acura. Then again, sedans are a tough sell in the American SUV centric market. Here is a shorter four minute video. https://youtu.be/oMHgLYceRhY

What a time to rely on the USPS for voting. Remember when direct deposits and then later filing taxes online were the scary new things before the Y2K era? Now the wreck is in the mail.

You can do either, but I've used the PD drop box frequently since moving to this town 5+ years ago.

The wife and I were talking this morning about having to stand in line to vote - we remember doing it at both our local library as well as at a church, in past elections.

@dad23 - school seems to be out for all of Douglas County - the cooking studio is hosting a 1 day camp, which I think has 6-8 enrollees today.

What platform is the Azera built on, is it the same as the G70? If it is, seems funny to compete with your own brand. Older Azeras I see for sale look nice but there’s not too many of them out there.

PA IMO has a terribly regressive booze distribution system. You can’t even get a six-pack at the Wawa. Selling liquor at state run outlets with banker’s hours is near criminal. For all it’s faults at least NY let’s you drown your sorrows on a more convenient schedule. Another example of the private sector doing a better job.

For all it’s faults at least NY let’s you drown your sorrows on a more convenient schedule. Another example of the private sector doing a better job.
Colorado has an interesting approach - an owner can only operate a single site within the state, which leads to warehouse sized buildings that offer just about anything alcoholic you heart desires. Even the grocery chains are allowed only one site where they can offer hard liquor and wine - fortunately, the Safeway close to our house is the one site they chose in Colorado.

Only recently have grocery stores been allowed to sell full strength beer - before that, it was the 3.2% stuff.

LOL

Not sure if it's still this way, but I don't think you can buy alcohol in KY on election day, until the polls close at 6 PM.
    That’s unAmerican!🤬
Yeah, we should be allowed to vote on this. :@

What platform is the Azera built on, is it the same as the G70? If it is, seems funny to compete with your own brand. Older Azeras I see for sale look nice but there’s not too many of them out there.
The 2021 front-wheel Azera has more in common with the slightly larger Kia Cadenza. I believed Hyundai killed its North American Azera to give the Genesis sub brand a fighting chance.

No need for another sedan in their lineup when they don’t sell anyway, IMO.

Misjudged the last step today carrying a heavy box. Came down hard and the box fell on my foot. I broke my big toe. Fun times!

Sounds like another excuse for not having us over for a cookout to celebrate your new house.

If nothing else you should be waited on hand and foot if true. B)

NJ doesn’t sell beer in markets or convenience stores either, but at least there is no state system. That’s a scam, just a grift scam by the legislature.

Here, you buy beer at the liquor store.

Pretty sure you had to prove you were over 65 yrs. old to qualify to purchase the old Azera. :open_mouth:

I know someone who used to work at Lowe’s. They said people would put an expensive item inside the box of an inexpensive item and then check out- paying for the cheap item.

Or remove the price/barcode from a cheap item and stick it on the box of a more expensive item.
Makes me wonder if anyone has successfully swapped the VIN # and stickers on a "cheap" vehicle with the "expensive" one.
Don’t car thieves do that all the time?
I'm talking about at a dealership with brand new vehicles. I could see some salesman not knowing the difference between a 2 series coupe and a 4 series coupe.

Liquor stores and bars are open today in KY. Not sure when that changed but has been several years now.
