Condolences @laurasdada - that's a lot of grief for any amount of time, especially for such a short period. I know it helps to vent a little, if just saying what's going on.
I can relate, to a less severe extent. My grandma passed away in October. She was 93, and was doing pretty well until the very end. Her simple goal was to live out her life in her beloved house, and the family was able to move her from the skilled nursing home where she spent a few weeks after a downturn, back to her bedroom for care. She wanted out, she just wanted to be home. A couple weeks later, she passed away peacefully, in her bed - she knew it was time. I'm thankful she was able to have that, and that the family could make it happen. It's been rough on my mom, as grandma was kind of the glue holding the family together (a burden mom gets to assume), but we're all keeping our chin up and moving forward, as grandma would want.
I am so sorry. Makes everything else look small. Please let us know how your father is going forward. We are huge OSU fans, so the win against Clemson was sweet. I don’t see how Fields doesn’t have cracked ribs. That was quite the performance.
I don't expect to see any news regarding x-rays or CT scans for Justin Fields until after the national championship game. He played with steel in his gut and likely a few cracked ribs. And nobody expects that Fields will be the same dual threat quarterback by January 11.
But no matter what happens last night's Sugar Bowl was one of the best college bowl games I've ever seen. I was texting with my nephew during the game and early on I told him that I can't wait to see Fields connect with Olave. Chris Olave was out for the game with Northwestern but he had 2 TD receptions last night.
Tight end Jeremy Ruckert also caught 2 TD passes. Trey Sermon was running all over (and past) Clemson and became a social media star. This guy will never have to buy his own drink in Columbus.
A time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing.
car related, son called Friday to say his car was acting weird. funky electronics, key not recognized, not starting. Thinking could be early battery failure. Of course he was heading out for the day/overnight, so had to have his GF drive. Gets back today, calls Genesis roadside (aka AAA). Truck shows up, goes to jump (remote under the hood, battery resides in trunk) with the box (I assume under the hood). And many sparks ensued (not just the normal little one) so I guess the tow guy pulled the box off and no attempt to start. So, plan B, it has to go to the dealer. Which required calling a flatbed (the first guy I assume just had the PU type that goes to dead battery calls).
said 45 minutes, ended up more like 3 hours (weather was bad and I think ice in the region). And the flatbed driver realizes they can't get it out of the garage (all electric, so can't get it out of park, or the E brake off). And he only had 1 or 2 of the wheel dollies needed, not the 4 required (AWD and Ebrake on). So that was going to take some logistical coordination with other trucks to show up with them. At this point, dealer was closed for WE anyway, so nothing to do with car if it even gets there.
so now, it is still stranded in the garage at his house. He will call the service department at opening Monday to see if they can provide any instructions to help, and if not, can they send their flatbed down (hopefully with a loaner on it) and the dollies to get his back.
he considered just going and buying a battery, but does not really want to pay for it if Genesis will cover it. Or deal with trying to get it installed (I watched a video, lots of bolts, connectors and vent hoses involved). But if he had to, and a friend was available to help, he might try it anyway. I guess if it turns out to not need the battery, could maybe bring it back?
If the dealer is smart and has to send the truck down, they should send a battery assuming the driver is qualified to put it in and try that fix first. But most likely, he will have an aggravating morning Monday getting arrangements to get the car to the dealer. Which, being Genesis, is a good 45 minute drive away.

Needless to say, he is not happy in the least.
I’m a little confused. Did the first driver hook up jumpers and created sparks? Or was it sparking as soon as he removed cover? Either way, no way should your son mess with that himself. Sparking electrical means damage has very likely been done. Hopefully just a fuse, but could be worse. If he plays with it, they could blame him for the damage.

I was getting updates while in the middle of trying to deal with 2 foster dogs I had just picked up and had at the vet. So not much time to chat. But I believe he must have put the jumper on the remote terminals under the hood (and I will give him credit for not reversing them, but who knows) and that caused the sparks. Should not have had to go near the battery for that. But will confirm in the morning.
he did have it inspected Thursday, but it drove fine going home after that, and hard to think what the shop could have screwed up doing that. But, once it gets to the dealer, should find out. I just hope it is not anything serious, and under warranty, because last thing he needs is the nightmare of trying to get Midas to cover cost for something he can't prove they screwed up.
though now I am wondering if he did try to jump backward? I saw a Wizard video not long ago on a CRV where someone hooked the battery up backwards and shorted it out (thankfully just one of the main fuses).
He did say that some things still worked (some lights came on? Not sure what all) so can't be totally dead.
and I guess this is a good reason to have a spare car. Just in case the good one breaks.
I don't think I pointed out that the Buckeyes won against Clemson! They play Alabama in a couple of weeks!
And on a lesser note in my files, the Bengals won 2 games. Maybe the residents of Hamilton County and of Ohio shouldn't have the stadium razed that we paid to build for the owner. LOL
My wife's sister lives in Tennessee. One of her kids goes to Ohio State and one goes to Alabama. So maybe an in home rivalry?
I'm an ND fan, didn't go to a game there for first time in a decade, but didn't think they were a top 4 team. This year we missed out on ND/Wisco playing at Lambeau. In talking to people, it's about the usual, the TV and betting money. A lot more people were going to watch if ND and OSU were playing, instead of Indiana, Northwestern, or Texas A & M.

@stickguy Wow that brings back flashbacks to my Genesis. Mine was several faulty grounds and the dealer spent many hours with Hyundai’s corporate help to get right.

He called Genesis Roadside. It is their problem to fight with whomever they sent. Genesis put their name on it, so it is their responsibility.

I was inventorying my old equipment the other day (counting the receivers) and saw my old turntable. Still in the box. Technics SLQD33. Wonder what that's worth? I assume it still works (it was in perfect condition when I packed it up years ago).
Not familiar with that model, but if it’s one of the classic ones with the slider pitch control on the left side, and is mostly metal (vs plastic body), it’s probably worth several hundred $$$.
Got mine finished last night. Don’t like how the cartridge sounds, so am on the lookout for another. But, got a nice headshell. Everything else works great!

I like the color combo, but I might be in the minority
Sorry @kyfdx, I attached the photo after your post. I like the color combo too and that's what attracted me in the first place. And why isn't it being offered as a CPO.

Happy New Year, all. NYE marked the 7 year anniversary of buying my '13 XF, now with a whopping 67,500 miles on the odo. 7 years, what is wrong with me? How did I not buy a new car over this weekend? I'm not sure that I'm still allowed on the CCBA board.
But, to be honest, I've been in a different place since the Thanksgiving time, the following is not exactly rosy, so feel free to skip as I know all here have their own families and friends to think about.
No doubt, 2020 will be memorable for all the wrong reasons, the last few weeks of the year were fairly horrible in my small world. My ex, the mother of my children passed unexpectedly (and young). While she tested negative for Covid, its effect on the world was no doubt a factor. She moved across the country 3+ years ago for work, and not to a city that has been to her liking. My 93 y.o. Aunt passed a couple of weeks ago, a good life and she passed as she wanted. My 87 y.o. father (and "baby brother" of my aforementioned late Aunt) tested Covid positive a couple of weeks ago; "silver lining" is that he's in a hospital bed, with oxygen keeping his blood ox levels at an acceptable level. No longer term prognosis yet.
Apologies, but thanks for letting me write...
So sorry to hear such sad news but 2020 was not kind to many. May the departed souls of your family rest in eternal peace as they join their ancestors in heaven.

Humm, do you really think a dealer would do that? Imagine what they’d do if you did your own oil changes.☹️

If the battery was dead why were there sparks?

batteries can be too dead to start the car, and cause all kind of weird things to happen as a result of low voltage, without being flat dead.
it is a 2019 G70 3.3t AWD.
He is letting the dealer/roadside handle it. There was no point in trying to get it there when they were closed anyway (and really better it shows up when they can put it inside the service department.
Tom, I remember your stories about that. Will relay to the kid.
at this point, he just wants it to the dealer and a loaner car.
Gentleman, thank you for your thoughts. And, my thoughts extend to you and yours. My kids are in their 20s; as with all too soon deaths, (one of) the heartbreak is for all the life events that their mother won't be able to physically be a part. Not to mention her current boyfriend/fiance, a decent man who now has to reestablish his life and future. And, a brother who admits that his sister was as much a mother to him as was their mother, who also passed (even younger than my ex) too young. My father is status quo, on oxygen, but alert and in touch with his sons as best we are able. Fin, sounds like your grandmother and my aunt shared an end of life experience, they knew the time was nigh, and they settled in as they wanted and passed with peace. It's just still tough out there, stay vigilant, happy, sane and healthy!

I like it! But Manheim does project a $360 hit for brown. Brings it to $30.6k from $31k. I find they seem to be a little optimistic compared to actual results, so I project high $29k to maybe $30k on it.

Very low miles, under 14k.
I like how the seller has over 50 images, but about 45 of them are of the dealership and all of the BMW branded lifestyle knicknacks sold within.
Looks great! I would get a standard mount cartridge for that TT. No reason to be constrained to P-type with that head shell.

He is letting the dealer/roadside handle it. There was no point in trying to get it there when they were closed anyway (and really better it shows up when they can put it inside the service department.
Tom, I remember your stories about that. Will relay to the kid.
at this point, he just wants it to the dealer and a loaner car.

But Manheim does project a $360 hit for brown. Brings it to $30.6k from $31k. I find they seem to be a little optimistic compared to actual results, so I project high $29k to maybe $30k on it.
