I wonder if I can get a refund for the frozen pizza that was ruined when one of the cheap oil bottles sprung a leak. How would I prove that?

I remember reading about that. Evidently they were selling some oils that were not suited to anything newer than a Model A.

Choosing the correct oil is another task that more and more of our population are finding to be fiendishly complex...

Buying oil at the dollar store for anything but an old lawnmower seems nuts to me, but poor people have to do the best they can.

In the common man's defense, I think some of the manufacturers (looking at Europe primarily) have gone overboard with specialized oils now. Reading the Volvo forums, they switched to something no one else uses, so it is very hard to find (basically just the dealer at top $, if they even have it). I suspect BMW, Audi, etc. are doing their best to confuse owners too about which oil they are supposed to use, with so many variations now.

I'm just curious how cheap they actually sell the oil for. I just bought Mobil 1 0W20 Full Synthetic (8 for my Dad's Yukon & 6 for my wife's Pilot) for $5.49 per quart on sale from NAPA.COM.

    Not a bad idea....that honey could be cheaper than oil;

    Price: $17.99 for 5 pounds - 80 oz.
Is it considered to be the equivalent of regular or synthetic?

I buy my oil from my BMW dealer because I get a great discount- but I could find the correct Longlife approved oil for the BMWs and Mini at Advance Auto. AutoZone, and Walmart if needed.
Of course determining the correct oil requires opening and reading the owners manual- a bewildering and obscure talent that is rapidly being lost to the encroaching mists of time.

I’ll be heading over in a few minutes to help fill up the other half of the dumpster and this is the largest dumpster they had, a little over 5 feet high and about 25 feet long. Good thing about this flip is that it’s only 2 blocks from my place not almost 5 miles like the first two. Being so close I can leave late and still get there on time plus I can come home for lunch. What could be better than that? :(

Friend of the GF’s bought a Bronco Sport. She stopped by yesterday to show it to us.

Pretty impressive! Less “Jeepy” than a Jeep. Obviously, Ford is trying to capture that market, though. They also are trading on the Bronco name (although in OJ’s case, probably not the kind of brand recognition they want).

Only rode in it, and only for a few miles. Rides fine...better than expected for what it is. Has all the modern amenities. Pretty darned comfortable, too. Makes me wonder how good the “regular” Bronco will be.

99.9% of those who desire a modicum of off road ability would be perfectly served by the Bronco Sport. And, it’s comfortable enough for daily use.

    Impressive!

Hey @graphicguy, yanked out an old Coloric dishwasher yesterday. The woman who owned this place said it was here when she got here in 1985. Before it gets tossed in the dumpster, do you want it? It still works. You will probably need a replacement for your new Kitchenaid in about 10 years. White with a mechanical timer will probably be in vogue by then. Going once, going twice...

I reset the clock in the E400 and the GLK this morning....I left them on manual changeover. Both are done slightly different so it takes a while to figure out how to do it.
We left Florida on this date exactly one year ago so the C250 is on whatever time was on it when we left.

Trying to find a store with an electric can opener in stock :D:D:D
Is that the best you can come up with? :@

I’ll be heading over in a few minutes to help fill up the other half of the dumpster :(

You're probably late....did you remember to set your clock ahead?

No I’m not. I’m the only one here so far. I think they forgot. No loss, that’s giving me time to post.

Going once, going twice...

    jmonroe
Nice...does it have simple controls like a round dial so that nothing will go wrong with it?

That one must be a cheapie. The one I’m giving to @graphicguy has 8 push button switches in addition to the mechanical timer. I guess you could say it was a Cadillac (for you a Benz) in its day. The more I think about this, Caloric might want it for their museum.

I buy my oil from my BMW dealer because I get a great discount- but I could find the correct Longlife approved oil for the BMWs and Mini at Advance Auto. AutoZone, and Walmart if needed.
    .
But if you buy it at your BMW dealer do you have to register it?

Mercedes has as many different oil approval standards- if not more. But since you’ve probably never touched a bottle of oil you wouldn’t know that.

    Impressive!

It does seem nice. It doesn’t tick any boxes for me but it should prove to be popular.

I don't know if the Bronco Sport trim levels here in Canada are different than in the US (I suspect not) but the 2.0T engine is available only in the top-line "Badlands" trim which comes in at $45K. The "Outer Banks" trim seems nicer to me and is a few thou less expensive but only can be had with the 1.5T engine.

I told you guys before, with this flip I’ve taken on more of an advisory role. I put my gloves on only when I feel like it. In fact, I’m going home now for dinner. I’ll be back tomorrow if I feel like it to do some more finger directing.

I like how you know what I have done and haven't done. I've had cars that needed 4 quarts of oil a week, I bought it by the gallon and added it myself. But, I have never ever registered a can of oil with my MB dealer.

Boxing great, Marvin Hagler is dead at age 66; may his soul rest in peace. My fondest memory of him is he knocking out Thomas Hearns. I went back and watched that classic 1985 fight between Hagler vs Hearns and man that was boxing at its finest. Thant fight will go down in the annals of boxing history as the best fight of the modern era.

Sorry, I completely forgot about your extensive automotive technical experience. I’m sorry that you no longer own BMWs; your encyclopedic knowledge of the marque would prove invaluable.

The A3 also automatically changed it's time this morning. The VW has a setting to check daylight savings time which I did last night before retiring for the night. Time went forward an hour so now I'm in sync with the rest of the United States. They frown on us being late to work as or temps are taken each morning before we're allowed to get into the van. Rumor is that only one driver came down with the virus but no one's talking so could actually not be true. Strict protocols are in place since we came back from furlough and they seem to be working. The overwhelming majority of my co-workers are retirees older than myself so most have already gotten their second shot. We both did the end of last week, so feel a bit safer but still plan on wearing our masks going forward. Ridiculous of folks to stop now when we're so close to the end! Think we owe to all those who lost their lives for no good reason!

I reset the clock in the E400 and the GLK this morning....I left them on manual changeover. Both are done slightly different so it takes a while to figure out how to do it.
We left Florida on this date exactly one year ago so the C250 is on whatever time was on it when we left.

I had to set the time on the Legacy this morning. I forgot to put it on automatic.

Last night I watched my cell phone change from 1:59 to 3:00. Oddly satisfying.
