@oldfarmer50 That's why you go in October and return in May.
Looks good in blue too!
That would put me back north for August. Even if I did that I’d still get hit with two storms in upstate NY this year.
Nothing is perfect.....your going to get something somewhere at some time. You need a contract that stipulates, I will work in Florida Oct to May...and in New York June to Sept.
Great movie, been awhile since I have seen it. One scene that sticks in my mind is when they are on a stakeout watching the Continental, and a 61 Galaxie is rolling through the neighborhood, I think driven by some hoodlum types who were prowling cars:
Also the "auto graveyard", which would be a treasure trove now:
I rarely watch movies, but earlier this week I rewatched The French Connection (1971) with Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider. Aside from the famous scene with Hackman chasing the subway train under the El, what I enjoyed most were the many street scenes of a very different and very gritty NYC than what exists these days. And of course cars are central to the plot. Just really well-done.
One of the scenes I had forgotten was the scene in a nightclub with this Jimmy Webb song being performed live by The Three Degrees, just very much of the period. In looking it up on YouTube I discovered it was originally recorded by Thelma Houston and was commissioned for the Apollo 11 launch.

Yes, the bunch in the old Galaxie had targeted the Lincoln in an earlier drive past and when it was still there in the middle of the night they stopped to strip it. Picked the wrong car in the wrong place as a dozen cops appeared out of the dark to arrest them.
People are in 'Batten Down the Hatches' mode. Stopped to get a couple of gallons for the generator, just in case, and some of the pumps were already empty. Might have to experiment running 2 fridges at the same time off the generator, just spent $100 on a case of beer a couple of days ago. Also, got my check for the unused balance of my extended warranty today, about 3/4's of it.

Has anyone used a small cooler/warmer that is for the car. I'd like to have one that would keep insulin in the 36-45 degree F range dependably while traveling, and be able to run on 12 V in the car and on 110V in motel room.
I see all kinds on Amazon but the data on the machines is poorly written, probably intentionally.

I use Frio cooling wallet. Seems to work well. Keeps cool for up to 45 hours and you can “recharge” it with cool water at stops if needed. Recommended by my endocrinologist.
We are going to an Orioles game at Camden this evening. Will the streak continue?
I'm assuming that's a losing streak, since it's the Orioles?
We liked Camden. Went in 2019, and they were playing the Red Sox. Literally, 100F that day, though. The only beer my wife liked in the stadium was on the ground level, and we were in the club seats, so I got a long walk, every two innings. She is normally two beers max, but drank four that day (Dogfish Head Sea Quench).

What? You didn’t stock up on bread and milk? I took a drive and got some gas but I was planning on doing that anyway to keep the flat spots off the tires. Other than that I’m staying away from that bedlam.
I achieved my personal best milage on that trip:

@oldfarmer50, My wife went to the grocery store this morning, said a lot of stuff was picked over. I only bought gas to use the in generator, if needed, otherwise it's going in the lawn mower. Regarding the pic, nice mileage for an old dinosaur ICE engine.

He’s bragging. Neither my Genny or Mrs. j’s Subie would get mileage like that even if the cars were towed. :@

Someone shared this list from US News and World Report of the average highest starting salaries for graduates of the top 25 private colleges and universities on the East Coast. The results are unsurprising except I would have expected that they were STEM graduates; but not necessarily. How this corelates to tuition, I don't know, but I would have expected a close relationship between high tuition and outcomes. In short, it pays to get into a top college even if one has to cheat (just kidding )
I'll bet you good money that those high salaries were not the result of being in a top college and high tuition but being in a connected family.
