Well they really can't increase the price as you are pumping the gas that would be like a bait and switch. However with computers I don't see how they have to do it that way. It wouldn't take much programing to be able to switch all the pumps at the same time and have the price change take effect after the transaction at the individual pumps are completed.
————————————————
I’m sure they can change all the pumps at the same time. I wasn’t trying to explain the mechanics of doing it. I just posted what 2 different owners told me.
But when you mentioned changing all the pumps at once that reminded me of what happened here maybe 10 years ago:
Somehow a guy that worked the overnight hours (midnight to maybe 7AM) got the password to the system at the station. This station was the last station on the right side of the road before getting onto the PA turnpike. One night just before he was about to get off work he decided to change the price of gas to, IIRC 99 cents, so that a couple buddies of his could get some gas cheaply because, as the story goes, he owed them a favor. Since he did this on a weekday morning and at the start of rush hour, as his friends are filling their tanks, about 5 or 6 other cars pulled in and got gas at the same low price. Before he could change the price back even more cars pulled in because little did he know when he changed the price at the pumps that also changed the price on the outside signs. So many cars were coming to a screeching halt that the intersection became clogged and the police showed up because of it. To make a long story short, (just for you @driver100) the cops called the owner who had to come in to correct the situation.
When the owner asked the guy, “why the hell didn’t you just shut everything down?” The reply was, “I was so panicked I couldn’t remember the password I used or find the piece of paper I wrote it on”. When the owner then asked, “why didn’t you just hit the emergency power button, that would have shut off all the power to the station”. The reply to that was, “I forgot about that too.”
Yes, the guy was fired and made to pay the owner for a few hundred gallons of gas that was pumped at the bargain price in lieu of going to the slammer.
Sometimes pushing one button ain’t such a good idea. Individual control would have been best for the event I just spoke of.
Our potential move dates are firming up. Moving during the week is cheaper, so we are thinking Aug 3 or Aug 8. Sale on our current house is scheduled for Aug 10. We are getting estimates from a couple of other movers tomorrow and Tuesday. They said would sub out moving the Mustang. I got a lot of quotes from my Shiply inquiry although I put a big range of dates. Will requote with more realistic dates pretty soon.

Needs to come down another dollar or so to make my rainy day go away. Seems like I paid $1.98 a year ago December down here in Coral Springs. Luckily, I've got an economical vehicle. Am seriously thinking about stopping by the local Chevy dealer across the street to see if I can put a deposit down on a 2023 Bolt EV in their light gray color. As we driving home from Okeechobee City today, passed a trailer carrying Chevy's with one lone Bolt EV in their light grey color and it really caught my eye. Thinking that it might take about a year or so to get my order filled, so why not just go order the damn thing as I have no issue waiting another year. We've discussed it & it seems like a logical idea to have one EV vehicle and the other a gasser going forward. Hopefully Chevy will still get the federal rebate and pay to retrofit our garage with a fast charger. Due to the little amount I drive each week, under 50 miles, am the perfect candidate for the new smaller Bolt. Even if it has a 300 mile range, I could go a god month on a single charge if necessary. My son and grandchildren live in Indio, CA, which is in the Mojave Desert and part of the Coachella Valley (Coachella Music Festival) which encompasses more of the Mojave Desert. So one would expect to see lots of surreal images of bedroom communities encroaching on the desert. I lived in Palm Desert for 8 years which is near Indio.

Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Bermuda Dunes, La Quinta, Indio, Coachella, Indian Wells, etc., all which sit in the Mojave Desert.

I bought an electric mower earlier this year. I am on a 7500 sq ft lot, and on the mower's battery I can mow the lawn and weedeat/trim it twice - and I make two passes with the mower to keep it even, and have stuff to trim each week. On the weedeater's battery (same style but smaller), I can mow the lawn and weedeat once.
I also have an electric leaf blower and hedge trimmer that take a smaller battery design that also fits an orbital polisher and handheld vacuum I bought a few years ago. These batteries still seem to work fine, and surprisingly, the hedge trimmer seems to be the one that consumes the most energy.

BMW is testing monthly subscription fees for certain options on its vehicles. The tests are taking place in various markets throughout the world, but have yet to make their way to North America. How does that make you feel? Are you ok with paying a monthly fee for certain things or does this feel like an unnecessary money grab by the automaker?

We talked about this already, @driver100 . Or was that in the CCBA thread?

I really have no idea how working people have time to have a life!

I just saw this in one of my newsfeeds, the picture is from Indio, CA. The story was about the drought conditions in California. This definitely says something about California. I'm not sure exactly what, but something.
ON EDIT: Looking at that picture, the word "surreal" kept coming into my mind. I looked up the definition of "surreal":
marked by the intense irrational reality of a dream
Yeah, that fits.
The Coachella Valley includes the following cities:
Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Bermuda Dunes, La Quinta, Indio, Coachella, Indian Wells, etc., all which sit in the Mojave Desert.

So in that picture was the dry part on the left represent a lake that was there.
The homes seem to have water in their pools.
"Surreal" is true!
Has anyone ever mentioned that you look kind of like a lab?

You have to look at this positively. Those are the neighborhoods where electric lawn mowers can actually get the job done on one charge. Plus, no rusted cars live in that hood. I can see jealousy showing here.

I also have an electric leaf blower and hedge trimmer that take a smaller battery design that also fits an orbital polisher and handheld vacuum I bought a few years ago. These batteries still seem to work fine, and surprisingly, the hedge trimmer seems to be the one that consumes the most energy.
