Dishwashers heat the water in the wash cycle and the rinse cycle to about 140 deg F., at least in the normal cycle modes. Is there some special green mode yours is using that doesn't heat the water?
My dishwashers have all had a rod for heating that is just below the water surface when the washer fills. It does not heat the prerinse cycle water. So in our case that brings in the hot water through the 5 feet of line from the water heater, and 2 minutes later when the main cycle fill operates, it has the water from the WH at about 120 deg F..
Your washer is too new to have any mineral deposits from hard water. I got Bubble Bandit from Ebay seller which is an old style dishwasher powder that handles hard water. It's normally a commercial washer product from the way they describe it. It removes build ups of minerals with repeated use of Bubble Bandit.
our new house came with a fancy GE Profile DW too. seems to work just fine. But there are a bunch of settings, and I think the last load I ran I forgot to select any heated dry so stuff came out a bit wet (but clean). So make sure to analyze which settings you are picking (pretty sure there is also an eco setting which might cut out hot water)
The dishwasher at my house is me, period. And I always do a good job!
There is a dishwasher installed, I tried it one time after I bought the house in 2011 and found that the front seal leaked. Somehow I've never gotten around to fixing it. Probably because I live alone and don't cook, so there are very few dirty dishes that need washing.
I watched Price is Right today as I ate my lunch. The lady guess the price of an Audi EV. She had 5 guesses left for arranging the 6 digits in the scrambled price. She guessed $123950 (IIRC) for the loaded EV on the first guess and that was right!.
I enjoy watching and analyzing the probability of things happening with the various requirements TPR puts on the game.
I have always spent the extra 5 seconds running the hot water into the kitchen sink before starting the dishwasher. What kind of detergent are you using? The other thing might be how dishes are loaded I suppose but there can’t be many ways to screw that up. Is there any specific thing where it’s deficient, like the upper rack being clean but not so much with the lower? My GE does a fine job.
that DW does have settings for upper and lower wash racks. Possible that you are not turning on the upper wash? Or lower? I just know there are lots of choices to turn off and on.
Pricing of gasoline at my local Costco is $3.94 for PUG and $3.37 for RUG. Significant drops in costs of gasoline here in Southeastern Florida at Costco. Hope prices stabilize for a few months.
Much better than SE MA; BJs $4/RUG & 4.68/PUG.
Anyone have any recommendations on how to properly load a dishwasher? Our new GE Profile isn't doing a good job, we've already had GE's service contractor out to tell us all is well. He recommended running hot water in sink to get the HW flowing and use a rinsing agent. Thanks, it's a dishwasher, it should be washing dishes without extra strokes.
Probably not what you want to hear, but every GE dishwasher I tried (2) I had the retailer come out and replace it (local guys who give great service). Same reason….not very good at washing dishes. Ended up with a Bosch. No regrets. Quiet and very good at cleaning dishes. It even has some sort of pebbles in it that heats up when they get wet and dries my dishes well. Not cheap…I think it was around $1K. But, well worth it.
Explorer, I agree that changing the address is a royal pain. I never realized how many places had it. Just keep working down the list as needed! I did miss one. we brought something with us that won't fit so I decided to try and sell it on Marketplace. Did the ad, 2 days later, no activity. so I went in to lower the price and realized I neglected to change the location so it listed it as being at the old place. Though in the ad body I said what town. And given that it was heavy and driveway pickup only, that was going to be a problem.
so had to delete it (could not figure out how to edit that) and change the location and repost it. Maybe that will get somebody interested!
I never used Marketplace since I don’t use Facebook and that venue is a scammers paradise. Try Craigslist.
FB MArektplace is rife with scammers. I have sold stuff there, but had to sift through the n’erdowells.
Usually get an IM that starts with something like this….”will buy at your asking price. Give me your address and phone number to text you”. Ummm….you’re texting me now via IM…….
Or….”send me your routing number and account number and I’ll deposit the money before picking it up”.
my wife sold a bunch of our stuff on marketplace and learned all the scams pretty quick, after starting down the path with the first one (that once she explained what the guy wanted it was clear it needed to be shut down). after that she learned to ignore the obvious fakes that popped up immediately and wait for the real buyers.

To be fair, I think you are a rather unique type of consumer given your track record. GE is not much different from Whirlpool or any other major brand of dishwasher in terms of how they perform. To suggest that they are "not very good at washing dishes" is something that I suspect would get noted rather widely if it were accurate.
Lots can go wrong with a dishwasher - especially not cleaning properly. This site gives some troubleshooting ideas for GE DWs https://worstbrands.com/ge-dishwasher-troubleshooting/ (food clogging up a hose, a hose that is bunched up etc.) It is only as a starting point, or as we used to say in the advertising biz.....brainstorming.
in my experience, "American" style dishwashers (with integrated food grinder) do a demonstrably worse job than the "European" style (no grinder).
Also, it's the grinder which creates a lot of the noise, so that's another downside.
(regardless of brand, or where they are assembled)
One thing is, if you have a grinder you tend to throw more into the DW, in other words you aren't as careful. A piece of chicken or steak could have a bone in it.....that shouldn't go into a Euro DW.
My BIL was at his daughters place for dinner. She just got married and is about 24 yrs old. He was surprised that dishes don't get rinsed or scraped before going into the DW, the dishes go in "as is".
I would never put a plate with stuff on it in the DW. they always get scraped off and if there is gunked on stuff that gets scrubbed off. the DW is basically doing the final clean and sanitize but the dishes go in half washed or better.
Thanks for all the DW comments. As noted, the GE service tech came out and reviewed and said everything is as it should be. Run the hot water, use a rinsing agent and it should be fine. There are several settings, but all the appropriate ones are selected when running. So, next load will run the hot water, again use Finish and see what happens. If still not actually washing all dishes, lodge complaint #2.

I’ve never owned anything but an American DW, but I love my Kitchen Aid. At the shore we have an older Frigidaire (2012) it’s a little noisy but it does a great job too and it’s fast. The KA at home being new takes forever
our kitchenaid in the old place did not have a filter or grinder or anything like that so I never had to touch it. the GE in the new place has a big housing on that bottom which must be the filter. I should probably figure out what to do with that someday. Need to google to find an owners guide since the house did not come with them for any of the appliances.

Yes, back row bottom. With soup plates, the tines seem to hold both nicely. It is a quiet DW, at least.

KitchenAid has models of both types. I bought one for my son's remodel, last year. It's the "european" type. It's a great dishwasher.

American = Grinder Euro = Filter basket
They all have one or the other. Of course, with the grinder, you don't have to do anything. We only have to check the filter about every six months. But, we rinse our dishes.

Almost all of the euro models are super-quiet. If it sounds like the same dishwasher you grew up with, then it's probably american-style.
We had a really nice Jenn-Air model, when we built the house in 1998. But, it sounded like a jet engine, compared to the two Bosch models we've had, since then.
Another bizarre happenstance while on the road today.
I was traveling East on I-90 where it snakes through Albany a few exits past where stickguy’s kid works and suddenly up ahead I see cars screeching to a stop and skidding around what looked like a pileup in the left lane. I swung over to the right to avoid the mess only to see that a young man had stopped his car dead in the road and was walking back to argue with the car behind him. All this in traffic going 60-70 mph. As I pulled my phone out to call the police he hopped back in his car and sped off.
Now what transgression is so bad that you would risk killing yourself, not to mention many other innocent people to settle some macho spitting contest? What’d the world coming to?

Yesterday, I was on my way to tennis on a two lanes in one direction highway, that splits ahead. A pretty blonde lady is on my rear bumper in her Audi SUV. I can't go faster because there are cars ahead of me, but I leave a little extra space in front because I'll need it if we slow down. She scoots out to the other lane, gets ahead and cuts back in front of me. I had a feeling she was going to do that.....so I just let her. All that to get one car ahead.....and arrive 5 seconds earlier at her destination. Once we got on the next highway which was 3 lanes in one direction, she was in the right lane and I moved over a lane and flew past her anyway.
Your guy is a weird one....but, they are out there!
Just two questions:
We're you in the left lane?
We're you actively passing traffic on the right?

Not at all, it’s the same cesspool it always was but a least for cars the $5 ad fee keeps the Nigerian prince from posting the same car in a hundred different locations. Besides, I think the prince is into real estate these days. A few months ago I saw a house down the street for rent on CL at an extremely low price. Suspicious, I looked it up on Zillow and found the identical pictures and text in a for sale ad. I contacted Zillow and confirmed the house was for sale and not for rent. I informed them that their listing was being used in a probable fraud and they seemed entirely uninterested .

I was in the right lane which cuts off and joins a major highway going west. The left lane veers to the left and joins the major highway going east, both is about 1/4 of a mile ahead. I was in the right and going to veer right, she was behind me, and then scooted around to the left and back in front....I had an idea she would do that. I just let her in, she can arrive 10 seconds earlier at her destination. Besides, I got to look at her as she went by. She was pretty, but I feel sorry for her husband.
Had another delivery to old address. This return should be easier since it was from Amazon. Just tell them where it needs to be picked up on the property.
Basement is finally dehumidifying. Dehumidifier was still running this morning after emptying it last night. although bucket was almost full. Washed the Explorer yesterday and put it in the garage for the first time. That's still a working progress.

HA HA I meant 'work in progress'. Right now my wife has the MKC in the single garage with the Explorer and Mustang sharing the double. That may change. Have to move the garage fridge, regardless. Wiped down the Explorer with quick detailer this morning. Went to the grocery store after that and on the way back it started sprinkling. Garage was blocked by wife's car and it started downpouring. Got to wipe the Explorer down all over again.

Feel accomplished this morning. The battery died in our keypad for the garage door. Went to replace it and the little tab that connects to the 9 Volt battery came off due to corrosion from the salt air.
Home Depot carried a universal one that was compatible with our opener. I had a bit of trouble programming it. Tried 3 or 4 times and nothing. Finally decided to watch their video and followed their timing and it worked first time. I think I was going to fast in between the steps.
I could have probably rigged the battery holder but the buttons were tough to push anyway. Won’t cost anything as the garages are all under the HOA. They will reimburse me.
The "Malfunction Indicator Light" lit in the A7 Friday night, couldn't drive in electric mode. Rebooted the car, all seemed normal as the warning of a drive malfunction was no longer on the screen. But, as the very top of the IP is blocked by the steering wheel, I didn't notice until later yesterday that the MIL was still lit, owner's manual indicates it is an emission's issue; go slowly to a service facility. Hmm, even my Jag's didn't have emissions issues this early, hopefully nothing. I'm equidistant to two Audi dealers, but likely I'll go north rather than head over the bridge to Hyannis (Summer Cape traffic), even though I used Hyannis for the one year tune up. I'll use them again after Labor Day, if required.

....and that is the problem with new devices, and why I'd be hesitant to buy an EV especially, and a hybrid to some degree. New fangled devices and more things that can go wrong. On the flip side, my 2017 has lots of electronic devices including a digital instrument panel, I wonder how used ones are going to sell. Fixing a car with all these electronics is going to be the equivalent of getting a flat screen TV repaired by a TV Repair Guy. It won't be worth the cost when things start going wrong. There is something to be said for the 2014 C250....it is pretty straightforward for repairs.

that is my dream too. had the RDX in at one point but too much going on out there still so it is back in the driveway. I am nervous about fitting them both without a problem. If not, place will be back on the market by the spring!
I should have paid more attention because the door into the house is on the side wall (our old place was on the back) and the inside floor is a lot higher off the garage floor. so needs 2 steps up (old place had one). so all this means that the step sticks out into the garage far enough that it leaves very little clearance and would be easy to clip it. and that is the wife's side. I need to experiment a little and put some guide posts up. but mostly I think I need to bring both cars in at a slight angle, which should be fun. this is also our first time having a single double door.
going to be a while before I can clear out some extra stuff on my side (including a large exercise machine) to even sort it out. but if it ends up being an oversized 1 car garage I won't be happy! Though getting a Miata or some such toy means the truck will have to sit out anyway, and a little car can always tuck into the side
When I bought my house last year, it had a nearly new Bosch dishwasher which was maybe never used. The house was previously owned by a trust and apparently sat idle for a little while. For some reason, they left the 2000 era appliances, but installed a new premium brand dishwasher. I replaced the others (LG) - even though they worked, I wanted something "new" so there would maybe be some peace of mind, but kept the Bosch even though it doesn't match, but it does blend in with the cabinets.

Euro = Filter basket
They all have one or the other. Of course, with the grinder, you don't have to do anything. We only have to check the filter about every six months. But, we rinse our dishes.

We had a really nice Jenn-Air model, when we built the house in 1998. But, it sounded like a jet engine, compared to the two Bosch models we've had, since then.

My Kitchen Aid at home is certainly whisper quiet. You don’t even know it is running. I’m assuming that is the euro style

Just tell them where it needs to be picked up on the property.
Basement is finally dehumidifying. Dehumidifier was still running this morning after emptying it last night. although bucket was almost full.
Washed the Explorer yesterday and put it in the garage for the first time.
That's still a working progress.

You should have given the box of rags to Mrs. @explorerx4 and let her do the wiping.

Since it won’t cost you anything get one for me too.
A few weeks ago I noticed ours was acting up, probably because of lack of use, always use the Homelink in the cars. Anyway, I gave it a good smack and so far when I try it I’ve not had any problems. Sometimes you gotta let these things know whose the boss. But a backup can’t hurt.

Our old Kenmore gave up the ghost a few months ago.
Replaced it with a Bosch. They've won a convert. Quiet, ridiculously good.
We are slowly moving to buy the good stuff in the first place and skip the hassles.
Actually, that started with a Miele vacuum cleaner.
Then we discovered a vast difference between Samsung and LG, which is for appliances Samsung makes junk. LG makes some very nice stuff.
I really have to update the cars. We're up to 6 Mazdas...
Hello. I'm at least back for the moment.

So, what brought you back? It couldn’t be just dishwashers. It’s OK if you say you missed me.

Oh, the old play hard to get trick. Or is it the old work really hard at first and win them over, and then hold out for more money trick.
