Well we went out for dinner last night to the Texas Road House, mainly because we had a gift card for it. Well looked up the local location via Google Maps and headed out there. On the way there I saw my second Rivian in the wild (could have been the one I saw a few weeks ago) but I did get in front of it and seeing it in my rearview mirror I felt like I was being followed by a glow in the dark barbell.
Anyway we got to the restaurant and the parking lot was empty and the place was dark. Turns out they moved about 3/4ths of a mile away 10 months ago and Google still hasn't updated their system to this change. So we went there and the parking lot was the opposite of the old place. Anyway the steak wasn't bad, not saying that it was great just not bad, and the bake potato was just a tad under done. The saving grace was actually the fact that they had a Bock beer on the menu and actually had it in stock.
Well it was interesting but I'll stay with getting my own steaks from the butcher and making them myself.
Shockingly, Sam’s club has prime grade beef.

And I tried it but I don’t see any difference between their prime rib eye and their choice grade angus rib eye steaks other than cost.
As I’ve said before the taste comes from the seasoning not the grade of the meat. A filet is more tender than a rib eye but that’s the only difference I can tell other than price. And yes, an angus rib eye from Aldi is very good.

I’ll half agree. Ill take lower quality steak seasoned to perfection and cooked properly than a prime cut that wasn’t treated properly.
I do believe there is a difference between beef suppliers and grades. Every year for Christmas we do a prime rib roast. Usually a 4 bone or 10-11 pounds. We typically buy it from Wegmans and it’s always delicious. One year I bought it from Shop Rite and although it was the same grade it was not nearly as flavorful/tender. We always cook it the same way and to medium rare (after resting).

Wife and I are in the midst of the worst day of a pet owner. About 2 hrs. ago, we had to put down our oldest rescue dog, Trixie. The last two days and last night she became very ill and at 14 1/2 yrs. old, we had to be realistic about her in the short and long term. She started out as a puppy breeder with no name, only a serial no., but we gave her a great life the more than 10 years she was with us. Now we know she is at peace, at the Rainbow Bridge.
@carnaught That is really sad. Trixie's looks like a really sweet dog. It is a hard thing to do but you did the right thing.....it was time. My guess is that Trixie had a wonderful life and 14 1/2 is in the maximum range of life for small/medium sized dogs. I truly feel your pain, been there a number of times. The best part is you gave Trixie a wonderful life...and she even had a mate to pal around with, it doesn't get much better than that for a beloved pet.

Our first pup, a Yorkie, died after sustaining a fall when she was almost a year old. I was broken hearted for a long time as I used to take her everywhere in her little carrier. I do remember staying home from school a couple of days as I was really grieving for her. Our next pup, a mutt, was a slightly bigger dog and she loved to play with all of us. Took her to college my senior year which was a bit tough but I managed so I could get home mid day to walk her. Was out of town when she passed and was pretty sad as these little guys become a part of the family in every sense of the word. My oldest & her husband have a hairless feline now and must admit, she's a very smart cat. She poses for the camera if you will, it's like she knows how to vogue! Great kitty though and even my wife isn't afraid of her.

My sincerest condolences for your loss. Dogs and cats are members of their families and when they pass or have to be euthanized, the grief is as intense as it is for human family members. I know that from experience. 🥲
I am a perfect candidate for an EV. I drive about 25-35 miles a day 4-5 days a week. The farthest I drive is to my brother once a year - 305 miles each way. The problem is I have no access to a charging source. If I did, I would be driving an EV.
But I am still extremely satisfied with my almost 2-year old 2021 Genesis G90 (11,345 on the odometer). Never needs warranty work - just an oil/filter change every 6 months. A true delight!

Are you doing those oil changes and filters early or do they have to be done at 6 months? I know it is wise to do oil changes regularly, but today's engines and with synthetic motor oils should be good to go for one year or 7500 to 10000 miles.
The C250 goes about 6000 miles a year, and gets an oil change once a year. You can do an oil change as often as you like Mike, but it might not be necessary to do it twice a year with such low mileage.
btw, the C250 will soon be 10 years old late this year and it has 40k miles on it, the dealer said it was just like a new car....which I was surprised to hear from the service manager at the dealer.
Ford is spending $10B to build two battery factories in KY and Tenn. Honda is building a battery factory about 60 miles north of Cincinnati. Ground has been broken on the Ford plants, and Honda is supposed to start, later this year.
And where are the raw materials coming from?
Stay right there, while I google that for you…. 🙄
Well, you didn't delver, but I will. Here's what I found:
Lithium - top producers: o Australia - 13,000 tonnes o Chile - 12,900 tonnes o China - 5000 tonnes o Argentina - 2900 tonnes o Zimbabwe - 1000 tonnes o Portugal - 570 tonnes o Brazil - 400 tonnes
Cobalt - top reserves: o Congo – 3.6 million tonnes o Australia – 1.4 million tonnes o Cuba – 0.5 million tonnes o Philippines – 0.26 million tonnes o Russia – 0.25 million tonnes o Canada – 0.22 million tonnes
Nickel - top producers: o Indonesia - 400,000 tons o Philippines - 320,000 tons o Canada - 210,000 tons o New Caledonia - 210,000 tons o Australia - 190.000 tons o Russia - 180,000 tons o Brazil - 140,000 tons o China - 98.000 tons
Hmmm - which country is nowhere to be found on these lists? Which country is at the mercy of the "supply chain," which has shown itself to be a bit tenuous of late?

I’ve got it down pat now. 3 minutes on each side rotating at a minute and a half. Then flipping over and repeating on the opposite side. This usually produces a perfect medium rare steak the way Sam’s Cub and Aldi cut their rib eyes. Some times I have to back off a minute if the flame is really roaring from the dripping fat onto the hardwood.

But, to be fair, I guess I’ll have to try it for myself someday. Just have to put it on my bucket list,

I am still under the 3-year complimentary maintenance program. When the car is due for oil changes, I get an alert on my screen in the car - the intervals are set by the service tech based on my driving. Every 3000 miles is about what I end up with.
They use a synthetic blended oil which is why I end up doing it more frequently. When I am off the complimentary maintenance program, I will use full synthetic oil like Mobil One.

Ask our poster buddy what happens if you don’t follow the Hyundai / Kia / Genesis service schedule…
I think Mike is doing the right thing with 6 month oil changes.
I didn't mean Mike should avoid oil changes when they are recommended, but I thought that if a Genesis is built to be as good as an equivalent MB, then I thought the engines would be built to the same specs...or close. The Genesis recommended oil change is; When it's time for your next Genesis oil change, don't hesitate to schedule your visit with our service center. Here's how you can tell when it's time for your next Genesis oil change. In general, you should get an oil every 7,000 to 9,000 miles or six months, whichever happens to come first.(7000 to 9000 must be for synthetic)
The MB S550 recommended oil change is: An oil change is one of the most necessary and necessary services for your car. Synthetic oil frequently should be changed every 7,500 - 10,000 miles. Mercedes-Benz recommends getting your 2021 Mercedes-Benz S 550 oil & filter changed every 3,000-5,000 miles for conventional oil.
It seems that Genesis doesn't really recommend synthetic oil unless you drive your car unusually hard or under extreme conditions. Why are these so different? Acura: 7,500-10,000 miles
Audi: 10,000 miles
BMW: 12,000-15,000 miles
Buick: 7,500 miles
Cadillac: 7,500 miles
Chevrolet: 7,500 miles
Chrysler: 8,000 miles
Dodge: 7,500 miles
Ford: 7,500 miles
GMC: 7,500 miles
Honda: 7,500 miles
Hyundai: 7,500 miles
Jaguar: 15,000 miles
Jeep: 5,000-7,500 miles
Kia: 7,500 miles
Land Rover: 7,500-10,000 miles
Lexus: 10,000 miles
Mazda: 15,000 miles
Mercedes-Benz: 10,000 miles
Nissan: 5,000-7,000 miles
Porsche: 20,000 miles
RAM: 8,000 miles
Subaru: 5,000-7,000 miles
Tesla: You don’t! It’s electric!
Toyota: 15,000 miles
Volkswagen: 10,000 miles
Volvo: 10,000 miles And if the oil should be changed at say 7500 miles and you only do 5000 miles a year, why would you have to do it at 6 months?

As I’ve said before the taste comes from the seasoning not the grade of the meat. A filet is more tender than a rib eye but that’s the only difference I can tell other than price. And yes, an angus rib eye from Aldi is very good.

I’d think twice before doing that. If we do, next week the Martian’s will be sending them back along with a gazillion of their own worn out batteries that they’ve been hoarding for centuries.

I switched to Sous vide and then very little grilling. It made a huge difference for the better.

That sounds like it's imported from France, though...

French are good at cooking....when it comes to making cars, not so much.

I owned a couple of Peugeots back in the day, and rather liked them. Definitely not beautiful nor sexy, and certainly not fast, but very small outside while being roomy inside and extremely comfortable.
And that 4 speed shifter on the steering column confused quite a few people.

A true delight!

good to go for one year or 7500 to 10000 miles.

I’ll take your word for it but I’m going to continue flame grilling my rib eye steaks on my gas grill with hard wood strips to create a flame.
FWIW, several years ago DIL #1 said she liked my steaks better than what she ordered at Ruth’s Chris Steak House. I’ll take her word for it because I’ve never been there. And from what I’ve heard about what they charge for a steak, it’s going to be a while for me to save up enough to go there and I’d probably be too critical about the taste given their price. But, to be fair, I guess I’ll have to try it for myself someday. Just have to put it on my bucket list,

The DS is regarded as a full-on milestone car. The 504 henryn posted also has a strong rep. The Traction Avant, which preceded the DS, is also a landmark car. The French make some oddities, but have their occasional home run, too. More recent models like the Twingo and Avantime have cults behind them, too.
To repeat an old cliche: The French copy nobody, and nobody copies the French.
@carnaught, my condolences to you and your wife. I know it’s a real heart wrenching experience even when you know it’s coming. I saw it with both of my Sons dogs. Knowing that you gave your dog a good life helps along with time.

I can’t understand why a dealer would play around with a “synthetic blend” on their flagship car. The dealer I take my Genny to uses only full synthetic. Regardless of who’s paying.
Your dealer is a true wannabe outfit.

The Genesis recommended oil change is;
When it's time for your next Genesis oil change, don't hesitate to schedule your visit with our service center. Here's how you can tell when it's time for your next Genesis oil change. In general, you should get an oil every 7,000 to 9,000 miles or six months, whichever happens to come first.(7000 to 9000 must be for synthetic)
The MB S550 recommended oil change is:
An oil change is one of the most necessary and necessary services for your car. Synthetic oil frequently should be changed every 7,500 - 10,000 miles. Mercedes-Benz recommends getting your 2021 Mercedes-Benz S 550 oil & filter changed every 3,000-5,000 miles for conventional oil.
It seems that Genesis doesn't really recommend synthetic oil unless you drive your car unusually hard or under extreme conditions.
Why are these so different?
Acura: 7,500-10,000 miles
Audi: 10,000 miles
BMW: 12,000-15,000 miles
Buick: 7,500 miles
Cadillac: 7,500 miles
Chevrolet: 7,500 miles
Chrysler: 8,000 miles
Dodge: 7,500 miles
Ford: 7,500 miles
GMC: 7,500 miles
Honda: 7,500 miles
Hyundai: 7,500 miles
Jaguar: 15,000 miles
Jeep: 5,000-7,500 miles
Kia: 7,500 miles
Land Rover: 7,500-10,000 miles
Lexus: 10,000 miles
Mazda: 15,000 miles
Mercedes-Benz: 10,000 miles
Nissan: 5,000-7,000 miles
Porsche: 20,000 miles
RAM: 8,000 miles
Subaru: 5,000-7,000 miles
Tesla: You don’t! It’s electric!
Toyota: 15,000 miles
Volkswagen: 10,000 miles
Volvo: 10,000 miles
And if the oil should be changed at say 7500 miles and you only do 5000 miles a year, why would you have to do it at 6 months?
