I've seen the same thing. The only variables that have changed are the length of time since newer cards have been opened and the amounts that are charged on each one and paid off within the billing period. I suspect if larger amounts are charged and paid off that may affect the algorithm somehow.

But I would think it would be for the better...

If you make larger purchases, then your utilization percentage goes up, and the score goes down. If you then pay it off by due date, the opposite occurs

Exactly. The kid claims he was at McDonalds on a private lot, the question is was he on the phone before he got to McD's.
I wonder if this will be another case where the dash/bodycam mysteriously stopped working moments before the claimed offense, weird how that works.

Due to other commitments, haven't yet decided if I'm going to the Greenwich Concours (procrastinating cost me at least $10 as I didn't buy early-bird tix). But both Lucid and BMW are offering test drives of their electric wares, that adds to the temptation.
It is a very cool event, although I'm not sure that Hagerty has enhanced it. Well, they've enhanced the cost.

As well as being among the moneyed, keep hoping somehow it will rub off on me...

I’ll take a hit this month. Probably rack up 8-10k of charges for this work trip.

Hotel alone is 3K, rental car and all the BS show fees which rack up so quickly for labor etc

Statement flips on the 25th so won’t have expenses back yet to pay before they report to the bureaus.

Went to a Cars and Coffee this am. Yes, in low 50 degree weather and drizzle. Sponsored by a local former dealer group owner, still well known. A nice assortment of the usual and unusual suspects: Ferrari, Lambo, current NSX, Audi R8s and McLaren. A nice selection of Billionaire Doors opened. Also, Mazda RX8, Lexus SC400, Mustangs of assorted vintages and a plethora of Corvettes, mostly of the C8 variety. One C2 convertible with the owner struggling to put the top up as the rain intensified briefly. One very well used, not likely garaged and not a whiff of restoration around it Saab 900, '80s vintage. Jag XKE, a couple of MGs and a few vintage Muscles. A MK II GTI!

Only one electric, BMW iX. I'm pretty sure I heard the crowd booing it as it slinked away amongst the roar of V8s banging off my eardrums.

Most depressing moment, a bright, electric blue Aston Martin DB11 Vantage (DBS?), with the top down. Kid in his mid-20s hops in to put the top up, later drove it away. So, I wish I had thought of this a few decades ago, but maybe, just maybe having a plan to become wealthy would have been a good idea.

I have a few car collectors in my area. The guy opposite my next door neighbor collects Jaguars. I have seen his collectors club there with many classics.

In the other direction, two doors down there is a guy who collects or restores old muscle cars. I’ve seen a number unrestored rollers in his driveway and the other day I saw some nice 60’s Shelby Mustangs parked there.

The Jag guy said to just drop by the next time I see his club meeting but I still have to figure an in with the other guy.

I've never shown a car, I think it's my introverted nature. I went to a C & C in the XK years ago, the parking dude pointed me towards the exhibitor area, but I went to the spectator's lot. I suppose the M240 would show nicely, took the A7 this morning due to the now all too common weekend weather here.

All it takes is choosing the right crypto/meme stock or choosing wealthy parents, and it all works out.

I've even seen an iX here, I will be nice and just say it is unique. Many more compelling EVs on the market in my eyes.

had to park outside in a lot surrounded by trees yesterday. So the white Acura was more green, and decorated with bird stuff. Washed and back in the garage again.

Bathrooms in the new house are tiled. Looks good. another sign of progress. Hopefully next week the hard floors and lower kitchen cabinets are in so they can template. That will really start making it look close.

When I lived in CT, we always had water restrictions related to watering the lawn, not sure car washing.
Here in OH, it doesn't seem to be a problem. Not sure if living a few miles from one of the Great Lakes has anything to do with it. :)

We made our annual pilgrimage to Seabrook Island recently and the C43 performed like a champ, delivering over 30 mpg on some stretches. As before, the typical cruising speed was between 80-85 mph, a velocity that resulted in me being passed by approximately the same number of cars that passed me. We did run into a few backups, and the Distronic Plus proved to be a godsend not nagging me to grab the wheel until the car reached 20 mph.
There weren't very many exciting cars to be found; it seemed like everyone drove an SUV- the majority being German, followed by Asian and American. In our complex there was an X5 M Competition, a Cayenne and a Carrera 4S, but aside from that nothing even remotely entertaining.
I did put my time driving around the island to good use by perfecting my bystander annoyance technique- courtesy of the AMG Performance Exhaust. It is very simple; put the car in Sport+ and activate the manual shift mode- then, as you approach a stop sign or traffic circle, quickly downshift to second or first. The pops and bangs that result are simply glorious.

Oldest daughter had her graduation today at DePauw. They do it up right. Friday sorority party. Saturday sorority get together at a bar for lunch. Saturday evening dinner at their local country club which honestly was much much nicer than I expected. Saturday evening “DePauw under the stars” with live music, champagne and appetizers. Today was an outdoor graduation ceremony. Summa [non-permissible content removed] Laude with a 4.0.

She started PA school last Monday so it has been an interesting ride.

I did forget to mention that I am now 5 weeks in Forester. VWGoA has offered 7k trade assistance or 7k cash and fix and keep. Problem is that they are doing “wiring overlays” to front radar cameras and the same to rear camera (and replacing rear camera). Wiring overlays seem to be wire splicing rather than replacing wiring harnesses. Seems odd for safety system.

I did just receive a solicitation about a class action settlement for Audi automated emergency braking system malfunction. Hmm. Timing is right
  • stickguystickguy Member Posts: 53,614
up to you to do your math, but I would be very leery of continuing a relationship with that car and would take some money and run. Sounds like running into another Audi, but gotta do what you can. Or take the $7k and as soon as they "fix" it trade it in elsewhere.

Just dumped my AMEX Platinum Card for that very reason. Used to be before I retired, I used it to enter the Delta Sky Lounge at least 4 times/mo (which they've since cut back on). I used TSA and Clear, which AMEX paid for. I used their "hotel benefit" when I went on vacation. None of those things mean anything to me, anymore.

When I called and told them to cancel the card, they went into "hard sell".

    Wow… what a moron.

I’m seriously having one hell of a week away for work. Started last week with a crazy travel day. The work has been a little crazy and today someone stole my phone right out of our booth at the show.

I thought I left it somewhere but it’s off and not able to be located so it must have been taken. Not sure what anyone is going to do with it. It’s passcode protected and none of my important apps are saved passwords anyway. It also has a cracked back glass. Oh well I hope someone enjoys it as a paperweight

Have to shout out to ATT’s insurance… they have a brand new phone three generations newer being overnighted to my hotel.

So on another forum I posted about our trip to Seabrook and my fun with the AMG exhaust. I received the following terse response from a resident,
Do yourself a favor and leave the fart can exhaust noises off the island. You are probably violating a noise ordinance and the locals are not tolerant - people go there because they don’t want crime, grit, the smell of weed, or people who disregard basic civility. With a car making all that noise, you will come off as someone who hails from a trailer park or some sort of ghetto. Plus the fact that in most states, modifications that make the car louder than stock are not legal.

    I replied,
ICYMI, the exhaust on my car was installed at the factory. I seriously doubt that I’ll be branded a scofflaw by driving my car in Sport+.
But rest easy, I’ve returned to my trailer park ghetto to commiserate with my M Car and AMG owning neighbors. Feel free to go back to yelling at the kids to get off your lawn.

Would the neighbor like one of these instead? Last I heard one of these its exhaust note was invigorating.

Fun and games at the airport yesterday.

They are in the middle of a —spend all the tax money— reconstruction project that already had traffic messed up when a contractor stuck the sewer line sending raw sewage all over the terminal. They say it will take weeks to fix.

In the meantime the Mensa brains running the place lined about a dozen porta potties along the road in front of the terminal. That should make it interesting for folks who wait an hour to clear security only to have to run back out of the terminal to do your business on the sidewalk. Way to represent the state’s capital.🤣

In other hijinks, our chase driver rolled up to our facility security gate which is key card controlled and caught his foot under the brake pedal and on the gas launching him into the gate. The Pacifica he was driving got the hood peeled back but the airbag didn’t deploy. He was unhurt but embarrassed. 😩

    Never a dull moment.

I don’t think I could do that if I tried. Then again I’m not a “professional” driver. :*

Give it a try, I’m sure you could do it. He’s about your age, 83.

I guess that I need all of the help I can get.

When you’re that age you should know better. Unfortunately things like this and old timers driving through store fronts supports the thought that driver testing once you hit a certain age should be mandatory.

My M240 (like I have to tell you) is quite lyrical, too. I guess I should now live in fear of my HOA... Maybe not, maybe I live in a trailer park!
