sounds like here. My daughter is terrified of the dumb things after they chased her a few times. Made it a problem when she would go for a run! Needed to take our Lab. Him, they didn't like. When he would go tearing after them, they would go flapping away. Little did the evil beasts know, he just wanted to play, and if they ran at him, he would have hid behind me.

yet when people suggest any kind of culling, there is an uproar. By people that don't live where they congregate of course. I think they should be rounded up and deposited in the yards of the geese huggers.

    Aren't they good to eat?
That was one plan in Toronto. Cull the Canada Geese, fix them up, and provide food for the poor. There was a huge outcry about how wrong that would be. They must have some good quality! Maybe if someone could invent a good diaper for them.

imid, My thoughts exactly. I am pretty sure who will get the bill and that is before I try to find the fine print.

I will say, if one day you get a really sore neck this thing may be worth a try.

Seems like a huge parking space, and could have gotten closer to the curb side. A human could have done better. Nice car though.

How disappointing. I was waiting for a sudden screech of tires and seeing it plow into the car behind, and then a repair order that read: "Cannot Duplicate the Problem".

Yes, Minis are hard to see, but so are children, small dogs, land mines, irrigation ditches, downed electrical wires, the edge of cliffs and war veterans using walkers.

I suppose it's also harder to "hear" a small car when you hit it? :D

No matter. They're doomed. I touched up the crack and you can hardly notice it at all.

I ran out earlier to pick up an Rx from the drug store to help with my upper respiratory infection.  I was parked behind two cars in the left lane of the pharmacy pick up window - the right lane was closed.  Three cars pull up behind me so I guess they opened up the right lane.  Four cars rush into that lane and the clerk starts to serve those people and holds up the line I was in.

This elderly man gets out of his car in front of me and walks up to the window.  He starts screaming at the pharmacy clerk that he's been in line for 30 minutes, but all those cars that arrived 5 minutes ago are being served first.

He he gets back in his car and 5 minutes later, two patrol cars show up and walk over to the pharmacy window.  Then, they walk over to the car in front of me and order the old man out of his car.  They turn him around and bend him over his hood and cuff him.  Then, they search him and remove what looked like a 9mm semi-automatic from his belt.  They move his car out of the lane and take him into custody.

When I finally got to the window, I asked the clerk what happened.  She said he pulled his gun out and threatened her.  And I thought these older retired people down here were laid back and harmless.  I guess you need to be careful down here to make sure you service the folks who were in line first.

I have no idea, but his Mercury Marquis GS (2001-2003 is my guess) has a temporary new home.  I can understand the reason for his anger, but I was in no hurry - but obviously he was!  Here in Florida, almost anyone can get a gun - but getting a carry permit is not that easy.  I don't think he'll be carrying any more.  :s

I have to agree with the guy about the clerks being considerate of who's waited in line. Several times I've had a chat with managers when their clerks opened a new line and didn't call for the _next_ person in line to come over to the new line and instead they just took those who rolled their carts up at the back 15 seconds earlier.

It's really kind of sad in America these days. Seems like so many are angry. Employees are unhappy and don't give a squat anymore. Civility is down the tubes. Our government is becoming dysfunctional and our corporations are moving overseas. I don't know how you fix all this mess today. :o

I've only seen them in downtown areas or at the beach on Ocean Drive (A1A).  Honestly - no lie - I haven't parallel parked in over 20 years.  I know no one will believe that statement, but I swear - 20+ years.  I can't even remember the last time,

I get to do it once a week or more, usually. Nice plaza here (Mesilla) with food and an "art" theatre but parking is tough, not to mention the streets are narrow. Another reason to dump the van. :)

    Objection!

I just accidentally hit one of the ads on here (Toyota) and got a warning that the site was trying to open up cookies or some such nonsense. I clicked "block" and The Toyota site froze my screen with a prompt saying "but we can do so much more for you if you let us invade your computer". Had a devil of a time trying to get my computer function back. Where the heck do they get the nerve to interfere with me like that? One more black mark against Toyota in my book. :@

Ok, I don't have to go to the pharmacy near as often as a senior citizen, yet I already learned a LONG time ago that if there are at least 2 cars in the drivethrough, to park and go the hell inside where I will get served MUCH faster.

:'( I look at it this way - life down here in God's waiting room does have intrigue and drama.  Inevitably, once a day, I hear the ambulance sirens racing to one of the condos in my community to either rush a heart attack or stroke victim to the hospital or to deliver the body of a loved one to the morgue.  Or I would overhear an elderly couple fighting with eachother over what TV program they want to watch at night.  Life down here is not "Hum-Drum"!  The Drama is overwhelming at times.

But as the older residents leave the world, younger retirees move in making my community vibrant at times and sad at times.  Such is life - a beginning and an ending.

Was an exciting day in the driveway. When I started my 2012 Versa hatch in the cold rain at 6:30 this morning to head to the gym, It sure felt like it was misfiring on a cylinder. Didn't feel horrible, but I was pretty sure. About a half mile up the road, the CEL starts flashing a long sequence, then medium, then a short one, goes off and goes through the whole thing again. Turned around and got back home to call the shop and make an appointment. Today is pretty booked, so I OK tomorrow, and plan to drop it off tonight so they can have it early. About 11AM I decide to take it up (only 5 miles) in the daylight and catch the only bus that comes out my way during the day, or hitch a ride from the dealer. I start up, it's a LOT rougher, feels like a loss of compression/power and after a couple of hundred yards it's blowing whiteish smoke now too. I'm thinking head gasket, but this is out of the blue. Never any oil/fluid leaks, driveway is spotless. But I get it in the driveway and decide to have to let them know I'm sending it up via the tow. After it's gone, I go out to look at the driveway, still nothing leaked out at all. Doesn't really mean anything, but I'm looking for anything good at this point. Phone rings mid afternoon, they took it in to look at it... deep breaths...rodent-chewed wiring harness. Once they get that squared away and it will keep running, they'll check for any other issues, but this was SO sudden and out of the blue, I'm cautiously optimistic. I have a 15% coupon they had just emailed, so it's going to be about $275 for the harness fix. Will be the biggest one shot bill we've had on a car in the last 10 years. Guess I was due!

They've got no hope of upselling me on new muffler bearings or headlight fluid ;)

Back in the winter of 2013, I had a similar experience. I had a brand new 2013 F150, less than 1,000 miles on it. After a cold night (minor frost), I fire it up and head out. About 2 miles down the road, on the freeway, the entire center dash panel goes blank, and then shows two words “BRAKE FAILURE”.

I’m thinking “Holy ____, I’m gonna die!”. Then the engine turns off, the dash goes completely dark, and that’s all she wrote. I steered off the freeway and into a parking lot (the brakes did work, thankfully). I get out of the truck, and the first thing I see are hundreds (yes, literally, hundreds) of wires hanging down and trailing behind the truck.

What apparently happened, the frost the night before caused some stray cat to sleep under the hood, and he chewed up some wiring, and caused a huge bundle of cables to disconnect and fall down to the ground.

The dealer wanted $1,800 for the repair. I turned it over to the insurance company, who only paid $1,150 for the exact same repair. $100 deductible to me.

I'd heard of rodents damaging things under the hood, but not a cat. That's a new one for me, but it certainly makes sense when you think about it.

Yeah, insurance companies often have contract rates with some providers whereas on your own you can be paying rack rate for these kind of things.

Well, well, my old '99 Quest is on the list at #7. Oh, and the Grand Caravan is #8 (but mine only has 159,000 miles on it). Ah, my old '97 Outback is #9 - sold it with around 100,000 miles on it the same we sold the Quest and got the Caravan.

Just the wiring harness repair. No parts, all labor (@$99.75/hr) came to $273 after the 15% email coupon I happened to have. Good as new. Now I just have to live through my "rabbit ear" phase wher I identify all the noises that have always been there but I'm now tuned into for a while ;)

Before life took away my ability to wash my car whenever I desired (usually every weekend), I was a Zaino fanatic (Z2, Z5, Z6, Z7, ZFX...). Multiple, multiple coats on my Abyss Blue Acura TL. Great stuff. But, I no longer have the ability to hand wash, so I've been using Black Magic wax for a couple of years. Good stuff, seems to bead for 4+ months with a nice shine on the Platinum XF.
