Not really a Cincy fan, but I still remember the old Big Red Machine from the 70's. The Reds back then were kind of like the Cardinals today in their Division I think.

As a kid, the Dodgers and the Reds were both in the old NL West, so the rivalry was pretty intense.
someone my wife works with put out $1000 to get on the Tesla list. I told her to ask him what options he got, what color, how much is it, etc. Yeah, he can't answer those questions, I know. That's what baffles the hell outta me. I had someone else texting me telling me he was going to do it. I said "just remember. Elon also originally said the S would start at $50k and arrive in 2011. We see how that turned out."
There will be some suprises. Actually MSRP is rumored to be closer to $42K, and of course once Tesla hits the 200,000 mark (maybe next year), there will be no more tax credits for anybody. I wonder if those "listers" know this?
That's where the refundable part of the deposit comes in. If it came in at $42K with a 300 mile range (I know extra range is an option) and the tax credit still existed I could be quite interested, but not so interested that I'm tossing down a grand for my spot on line for a car that at best will be made in two years.

But, right now, we're talking $300M in Tesla's bank account. What happens if they burn through that money and then something happens where those people want refunds? 2 years is a long damned time to let a company not making a profit to hold onto your money in exchange for what is still vaporware.

It's a risky move for Tesla--to manufacture that many cars will require a huge expansion at a staggering cost. I mean, I wish 'em well and all that (the more competition the better) but this is not shaping up to be "the people's EV"---more like a midrange lux market.
As I was driving home this afternoon from the bank, I stopped behind a 2016 Mustang with an insignia on the right rear of STR or RTR, or something like that. The reason I bring this up is that it was obviously a stick and the guy who was driving was revving his engine - not at high RPM's, but enough so that my entire CLS "shook" from the vibrations of the engine exhausts. I know it was not a standard GT Premium, it was much more powerful and decked out much more than the what one would expect. He kept looking at me in his rearview mirror and revving all the while (maybe he thought I was driving the 580 hp version CLS63 AMG - he wanted to drag race me, I guess.
It was a sweet looking car - something I would love to drive - but I would be forced to remain inside for the rest of my life inasmuch as I could get into the cockpit, but I would never be able to get out (maybe if I crawled out )
But I wonder what model or options he had on that car - the engine sounded like it had 600+ horsepower. Anyone have any ideas? I could not get a look at the front or sides as he was at 60 mph in a few seconds leaving me behind in the dust.
I received that water filter for my new fridge in the mail today. No instructions of course. I called to find out how much they charge to install the filter. They said it would be $90. I said that's more than twice what I paid for the filter.
The guy on the phone said to put two pillows on the floor and lay down on top of them. The door for the filter is on the left bottom below the freezer door. He said just pull the door open and the old filter would pop right out. Insert the new filter with the arrow pointing left and close the door shut forcefully. That's all there is to it. He said he showed his Dad how to change the filter the same way without hurting himself. I thanked him and it worked for me.
In fact, it allows the water to pour out of the fridge much faster and it is producing ice much more quickly. I thing the original filter was not installed correctly because now it's working great and the water is much colder.
When mine was due, I was getting dribbling from the dispenser. Put new one in, problem solved. At least mine is on the top of the insides, so easier to get at!
The guy on the phone said to put two pillows on the floor and lay down on top of them. _________________________________________________________________________________
For a minute there I thought he was going to tell you to have a sweet dream about how to install the filter.
Like 'stickguy', to change mine it's in the refrigerator compartment (top right) very easy to get at and I didn't have a nightmare about how to replace it.
Anyway, it sounds like you're good for another 3000 gallons.

Elon always promises a low price but most cars sell for much more...in this case some people believe he can't make this car for twice the price, others say most will sell for $42 to $50k.
Some people believe he will lose money at $35k so he won't want to sell too many at that price.
And, by the time this car is made, others much larger and better funded companies will have new products on the market as well.
I forgot to ask but there is a beautiful system of new overpasses that cross I-75 North of Cincinnati I believe....they are blue and white and are very streamlined.
abacomike" said that's more than twice what I paid for the filter.

I was getting a little worried about where this story was going.
Glad you got the filter in, now don't forget your filter should last 4X as long as it would for a family of 4, and these days the name of the game is to have a steady source of income....by getting people to replace their filters as often as possible.
@driver100...I've had quite a few cars with voice recognition. None of them ever approached the accuracy nor speed of execution as my Apple Car Play I use in the CTS. I'm thinking in pretty short order, you'll be paying for the interface to your Android or iPhone in your car, not an actual NAV or voice recognition system. Even Google voice is light years better.
Displaying the route map, or the music, or the podcast, or the internet radio station, etc will be included in the onscreen interface. But, all that will still come from your phone.
For example, a simple "Get directions to see the Cincinnati Reds on Opening Day" will yield the street-by-street directions to Great American Ballpark.
My question is if I ask my phone that has Verizon service how to get to the White Sox game will it give me directions to U.S. Cellular Field?

"For decades, the first pitch of every major league season officially took place in Cincinnati, and the Reds remain the only major league team to always open the season with a home game (save for 1966, when they started the season at Chicago after rain washed out the opening series in Cincinnati; and 1990, when due to a lockout affecting the schedule they opened the season at Houston)."
"Since 1994 ESPN has televised a regular-season game the night before "Opening Day" and recent years have seen the staging of season-opening series in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Japan, and Australia. While these are technically "opening games", Major League Baseball still reserves the title "Opening Day" for the first day in which multiple games are played. (For the first time ever, three televised games will be played on Sunday, April 3, 2016, before the traditional "Opening Day" slate of games on Monday, April 4.)[5][6][7]"
I'm not a baseball expert. I do know the morning talk radio host mentioned the earlier games "don't count." I note the explanation that opening day is the first day on which multiple games are played.?
First pitch used to be in Cincy. But it's still a big day in the City.
Those early games do count. Now I think that the first pitch of the season should always be a game between The Cubs and the Braves, it makes sense since they are the two oldest teams out there all others are just Johnny come lately's.
And get rid of that god awful thing called the designated hitter.

There's a blue 2016 Prius V I want (1T) to look at - doesn't have the pano roof but the V's are still last year's style so it doesn't have the porcelain sink console.

Not sure. Apparently, SIRI knows enough to understand the Reds always open their season at home.
I would imagine a question surrounding the question..."take me to U.S. Cellular Field".
@driver100 - glad you made it back up north of the border without incident. You seem to be continually impressed with your E400 4Matic more than any of the cars you've owned since joining us here on edmunds way back when. I'm trying to think, did you have your X3 when you 1st signed on? Or was it your 328i drop top?
Speaking of road trips, I was near @oldfarmer50 's neck of the woods this past weekend. Got the day off from work on Saturday, dropped the kiddos off at my parents' house in Rockland County, NY. We headed North on the Thruway (I 87), headed east on I 90, crossed over the MA border, and ended up at a beautiful, New England town called Lenox, MA. Spent the day, night, & next day relaxing and celebrating my 40th birthday with the one I love. We woke up Sunday AM with a little over 3" of snow on the ground. We stopped off at a couple of wineries on the way home. The best present? My wife had my best friend organized my garage to his OCD standards so now the Prelude fits in the garage along with my wife's Pilot (which is 2 months away from being paid off).
Baseball? The 27 time world champion, New York Yankees are currently undefeated. Our opening day got rained out today. They'll try again tomorrow. If any of you guys have plans to be in my fair city at any point during the baseball season, please let me know. If we can't get together, it'd be my pleasure to have you sit in my seats at the corner of E161st Street & River Avenue (renamed Rivera Avenue) in The Bronx.
I posted some random shots I took (over on Chronic Car Buyers Anonymous) at the NY Auto Show last week. Some random thoughts?
I sat sat in a highly optioned Volvo XC90 with an MSRP north of $84K. It was loaded to the gills. What was missing? A power tilt & telescoping steering wheel.
I was very impressed with the couple Grand Cherokees I sat in. An SRT8 would make a fantastic daily driver;)

A sincere, yet belated, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Bradd. Ah, to be 40 again! My son, Justin, turns 45 on April 7th. Sounds like you found Lenox MA as beautiful and serene as I found it almost 50 years ago.
I saw your photos on CCBA a couple of days ago. A Volvo for $84,000? My CLS400 MSRP'd for only $78,500. That's a darn expensive Volvo.
nyccarguy @driver100 - glad you made it back up north of the border without incident. I'm trying to think, did you have your X3 when you 1st signed on? Or was it your 328i drop top?
Great that you had a chance to get away for the weekend nyc, and happy B-Day! You have a great memory, I had the 2004 X3 when I started on Edmunds. I was going to get another Jeep, my 3rd in a row, but, my wife who was the European car lover talked me into trying the X3. I wasn't that impressed when I saw how much it was and looked minimal inside compared to a Jeep. But, once I drove it I didn't want to get out of it....I really felt like I was part of the car.
Then came the 08 328 Cabriolet. 90% of convertible buyers don't buy another vert. It's great under ideal conditions, especially on a warm evening going through town, say after a movie or restaurant. 95% of the time it is too windy, too hot, too cold, etc. Not much trunk space and hard to take other people if you have to.
The 535 was a 2012 and it was a nice handling car, great engine at the time. I would say I liked the steering and cornering ability of it compared to the E400. But, that is the only plus I can think of. The E400 seems like it is the perfectly designed car for what it is intended as. Lots of power, lots of safety features, very comfortable....people love the backseat too, great handling, interior and exterior are nicely thought out. Very intuitive systems. I think this is the ultimate car for me.....I don't think I could find a car I like better at any price.
Been a Reds fan all my life, even when I didn't live in the area. My Dad took me to see those "Big Red Machine" teams. I've heard it said (arguably) they were possibly the best MLB teams that ever stepped onto a field.....up and down the line up.
I know there was a lot of talk stating the '75 World Series between the Reds and the Red Sox was considered the best World Series of all time. Can't argue.
At one point, I remember Sparky Anderson had the luxury of having every one of his everyday 8 hitting .300 or above.
Loved that L.A. Dodgers vs Cincinnati Reds rivalry, too. We don't see that anymore as divisions change....maybe Yankees vs Red Sox.
They are rebuilding now, which it seems every team needs to do, at one point or another (even the Yankees, for a little while).
I still go to 5-6 games/year. Love our ballpark. In a couple of years, we'll be right back in the thick of it.
I grew up in SoCal, so was a big Dodgers fan .. I remember the days of Garvey, Cey, Russell and Lopes on the infield. Loved listening to Vin Scully call the games on the radio.
I happened to move to Colorado the first year the Rockies joined the National League. I was lucky enough to attend one game at Mile High Stadium before they opened Coors Field. Since then, I've probably gone to the ballpark 12 or 15 times total. Playing at altitude makes for some great offensive numbers but the pitching has struggled. Doesn't matter if they acquire pitching through free agency or by growing their own, once they get to Denver, something happens to the arms.
The ballpark in Denver is quite nice .. one of the early 'retro' parks to be built. Great sight lines, better than average food, and a row of seats that are colored purple to indicate they are exactly 5,280 feet above sea level.
First game I was ever taken to was when I was 2 at Ebbets Field. Grandma was a Brooklyn Dodger fan, Grandpa was a Yankee fan. When the Mets came into being, there was no question which team Grandma and I went with. I was at opening day at the Polo Grounds in '62. Haven't been to Citifield yet. This year for sure.

I admit I was tempted but I didn't put down a deposit. Didn't love the looks of it, although it could grow on me. If/When I'm ready for one I'll just join the waiting list.
Thanks for the birthday wishes _______________________________________________________________________________

$84K for a Volvo SUV? Wow.

We were talking about it ... when compared to the new Audi Q7 or something similar, the Volvo is massively overpriced.
But .. if you compare it to the Tesla (the high end Volvo has some fancy trick hybrid engine), then $85K is a bargain.

Again, many healthy and happy more birthdays!

So yeah....big Reds fan!

I posted a happy birthday wish last week knowing you had a birthday coming up so I don't have to say "belated" but this Edmunds site screwed it up. You know, that "quote" thing still ain't working for me!
