    ab,

'drivers' first 2016 listing does in fact show a 2015 as you mentioned but the second 2016 listing shows a 2016.

I guess this means we are now back to where this all started. :open_mouth:

Thanks for noticing that JM. Maybe he bought it where Mike took his test drive, and maybe he believes he bought a 2016. :s

That is the car I test drove in the Akron area last April on the way back from Cleveland when I went with Son #1 to get his 2013 G37. That 2015 Genny was the color that I thought I wanted, Parisian Gray, but it did not have the Ultimate Package so I passed on that car.

I'm with you, that price looks pretty damn good. Maybe I should buy it as a spare. Especially since it's starting to look like the 2015 Genny may be the only year the new design, starting in 2015, has a V8. Starting in 2017 the Genny will be re-named G80. That should make a 2015 V8 a collectable edition, right?. :open_mouth:

That's a pretty good deal..$13k off. About 25%. Wonder how much more is still left on that deal. What if you offered to buy at $15k off? They sound pretty motivated.

What does that kind of discount do to the value of other 2015s? I'd hate to be in a position where I HAD to trade in a one year old Genny.

Edmunds lists the G90 and G80 but with no info.  So it would seem the rebadging of the Genesis is going to happen pretty soon.  Maybe that's why they stopped producing the V8 model so early in the year.

If I was close to ready, I would be calling my sales dude for a lease quote on the 2015. I suspect it is going to be hard to pass up low.

That is also their only 15 left, so deals won't be around much longer.

I do think of my friend's experience with a 2013 or 14 Genesis. To be brief, he had a Maserati, couldn't drive it in the winter, got a Fiat 500, wife saw they didn't score high in crash tests, bought the 2013/14 Genesis and loved it for 2 months. Got a $48k car (Cdn price) for $35K.

Then the new models came out with a lot more extras for the same MSRP and his 1 year old Genesis sank in value to $24k. Also, he got no satisfaction out of driving it. High content but not a driver's car.

It looks like the Genesis has improved a lot in that department, but he was pretty angry and I don't think no matter how good a car it is, he would buy another one.

Mike, that color looks like my car, Empire State Gray. According to Mrs. j that is an "old mans" car color !

'imid', Maybe I could put Mrs. j's Subie in the driveway. After all it's just a grocery getter not like a wannabe luxo car like a Genny. If I wasn't afraid of her famous left-hook I might consider it.

'farmer', I agree with you about the re-naming of cars. Maybe it's OK to call it a G80 model but not the name of the car line itself. Bring back the old days.

Damn, maybe Mrs. j is right. :worried:

Another car company going to letters and number which evokes no image in your mind. When I hear Genesis I immediately think of a luxury car or a sporty coupe. G80 draws a blank. Wouldn't even know which company it was from.
To be honest, Hyundai probably had that in mind!

1906, the last time the Cubs made it to the World Series right?

Wrong in 1907 the Cubs won the World Series and again in 1908 and have been to the World series several times since but have not won it.

Also the 1906 Sox didn't have anywhere near the stats that the 1906 Cubs had. You have to look at the whole season not just on series.

Well, I just think winning the World Series is key to being proclaimed the best team. That's why I picked the '89 A's over the '88 A's that won 104 Games. Yes, injuries could (and usually are) a key factor in post-season losses for great regular season teams. Losing a starting player is HUGE, even for a deep team. To prove your case you'll have to show there were some key injuries, otherwise it falls under the below reason:

There's also the Bonds factor, good in the regular season, worthless in the Post-Season (no clutch). Having no clutch disqualifies separates the boys from the men. The true greatness from the mediocrity.

I think it has been said the Angels could have 82 wins by the All-Star break, and still not make the playoffs, for example.

FWIW: it appears that dealers are dumping the Genesi at auction. A whole bunch have gone through in the past couple of weeks with under 1k miles. They are hovering around $38k-$39k.

    2014 v8 R-specs with under 15k miles are $25k on average.

I'm still loving it. Thanks for the kind words. I got a really good lease deal, so I'm sure they inflated the residual. So it might not be such a good buy.

    q,

When we got Mrs. j's '12 Subie in November of 2011, Subaru was offering 1.9% interest. I asked the salesman what the discount was because I wanted that since I was planning on paying cash. He said Subaru's policy is not to offer a discount because that would cheapen the resale value when the car is traded in. He went on to say that he hears this all the time and that I would be thankful for the no discount later on.

That is probably true if you trade in a couple of years but not so valuable when you keep your car for say 5 or 6 years or longer which we usually do.

We took the financing deal because it was the only deal Subaru was offering and it was pretty cheap money. I'm not sure if Subaru has the same policy today or not.

I think it is just a rebadge now. The new design just came out.

If I got one of these, it would either be a lease, or used.

Smart move to by used with that kind of depreciation. A 2 year old might be half price. What a bargain.

Did you mean half of MSRP ($52k) ? Or half of actual selling price ($38k) ? A 2 year old Genesis can not be found for $19k, trust me, I have looked. For $26k? Maybe, with careful shopping and patience.

First one on the list... which means exactly nothing. Could be a salvage or something but seems they depreciate like a rock.

It is a 6 cylinder and I believe the 2014 was the last generation model, which was probably greatly discounted when they knew the newer model would be a big improvement (that is what happened to my friend but not sure which years).

Yes, the 8cyl. are much more about $26k just like henryn said. Wouldn't have thought the 2 cyl. would make that much difference on a non sports car. Still, that's some hefty depreciation. Not knocking the Genny, I was considering the coupe recently.

from looking at the new ones, it seems that the V8 has a lot of standard stuff that is optional on the V6. So hard to tell with the V6 what it has on it, since original MSRP can spread 10K.

One of the guys in my Condo Building just bought a BMW 535i in white with beige interior.  He showed it to me this evening and it seems well designed on the interior - comfortable driver's seat, peppy engine, and good looking with the 19" wheels.  He let me take it for a spin in the community.  I found it to be less powerful than the CLS and the handling and cornering seemed pretty flat.  Had no feeling for the road - the power steering seemed to "numb" the car's responsiveness.

But it is well engineered.  I felt I sat higher up in the car than in my CLS.  I really expected the Bimer to be sportier, but it was not.

He got a great deal on the car - MSRP was just under $65,000 and he paid $59,000 +++, no trade involved.  According to TrueCar, it is about $1200 under invoice, but I know there is trunk money available.  He is in heaven!  He had just sold his Cadillac CTS to a guy in the next building. This is his first German car.

I wished him luck - probably going to be his last new car - he's 77 years old.

77? You would be good for what, another 10 at least from that age on.

Florida living is supposed to add 7 years to the life of the average human.  So, life expectancy for him is approximately 84.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll make it to 84 - too many things wrong with me.  But I'm living one day at a time!  ;)
