Silly to require navi to get CarPlay. That is one of the best things about it, not needing nav built in!
It looks like my aversion to Nav systems has finally come in handy. Because you can get everything on a phone now the onboard Nav system is becoming obsolete. I just had to wait it out.
If I wait long enough they migh bring back push button radio.

Ok, I'm in downtown Wheaton, IL and just saw this parked on the street.
Ah, a British Morris Minor about 1952 model....beautiful condition. Had about 40 hp and could hardly go up hills. I believe those had the little arm turn signals. My father was one of the first people in North America to buy the similar looking but larger Morris Oxford....also gutless.

When I was very little, in the early '60s, my older brother (14 years my senior) had one of those. I remember sitting in it and him driving me around a little. All I recall was that it was battleship gray in color.
Thanks for the Canada Day wishes. To celebrate Canada Day we went to ......you guessed it, the USA, specifically Buffalo N.Y. to see the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Martin House and 30 minutes away, a separate tour, the Martin Family Cottage on Lake Erie.
Wonderful tour....if you are into architecture and the genius of F L Wright.

I am all for a nice looking spoiler that looks like it is part of the car, but not one that looks like it was made in a metal working garage. btw,,,,the car was red, and the spoiler looked like it was made out of industrial grade black metal.
To the guys in Burlington, Dartmouth, and other Canadian cities, have a happy Canada Day and down a Molsons or a Labatts. (Oddly, neither of those beers is Canadian owned). Okay, make it a Keiths, eh.
My wife's family used to have summer place on Papineau Lake near Maple Leaf until the drive became too much. Now they have a cottage in Long Beach near Port Colborne. Remind self to renew enhanced driver's license so I can admire the Niagara River while waiting on the Peace Bridge for American custom's clearance.

The classic 1966 Volkswagen Beetle had exactly 40 horsepower. And it would go up hills. Not fast, but ...

Funny you mention that; one thing I like really like about my car is that it has eight programmable buttons arrayed just like on car radios of the '50s, '60s, and '70s. Although you can also use them to store telephone numbers or navigation destinations, I use them to store AM, FM, and SiriusXM stations.

A lot has been done on the house over those years. The house was built around 1930, yet it looks more modern than many houses built today. Wright liked to hide the functional stuff, so even radiators were built in to desks or pillars. A lot of built in furniture too, and windows everywhere. The roof does have a slope, and they had to fire up an old style kiln in Europe to make the roof tiles as authentic as possible.
The house was built for Darwin Martin who made about $2 million in the early 1900s. He lost it all and became penniless in the stock market crash - 1929! He loaned FL Wright about $70000 over the years, and FLW never repaid any of it.....even though Wright was making and spending lots...and his good friend who made him famous was penniless. Amazing house, amazing story! Wright loved cars and he owned some beauties, including this Lincoln Zephyr, he liked them in red;
I go to Montreal at least twice a year, and Vancouver every once in a while. I agree about the Nexus card. Great invention, and it gets you through TSA precheck.

Often referred to as "the librarian's car" in the UK. Talk about a successful model run! 1948-1972, with 1.3 million sold.
The car was supposed to get a revolutionary water-cooled flat 4 engine but that idea was abandoned due to complexity and cost, so the first Minors had little 918cc flathead engines.

There is a reason they are called spoliers as they ruin the look of the car. I call the one you posted a machine shop spoliers as it looks like they were made in a high school machine shop.
Does it help in the performance? Likely not as they are usually found on FWD cars and peo people rarely drive fast enough for the aerodynamics to kick in.

Any craft brewery that is doing anywhere near decent sales is targeted by big beer for buyout. Now while craft beer may be a small percentage of all beer sales it is the only segment that is actually growing and the profits from a 12 pack of Goose Island is a lot more than the profits from a 12 pack of Bud. So big beer is interested in any craft brewery that is established and has any type of following, it's the only path they have for growth.

I've got a production number, but it doesn't show up on BMWs site yet. I believe they just started 2017 production yesterday
It's really exciting, just a bit scary. It's a lot of money, but I'm doing OK, and not getting any younger, so now's the time! I've been researching/wanting for a couple years now. I had a brief infatuation with the Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio, and the M2, but I always went back to the M4. I started with Mineral Gray with Sakhir interior, but the more I thought about it, the more i wanted something that stood out a bit from all the black, white, silver, and gray cars out there, plus my truck is gray, and my VW R32 before that was gray.

Nor were his skills at designing the cantilevered decks of Fallingwater. I saw a segment on TV a few years ago where they had to be reinforced because they were causing cracks in the main structure and were becoming unsafe for the load placed on them.
IIRC the supporting beams were under sized by about 50 percent. In fairness to his design, the beams were probably not sized for the large crowds that they were supporting for many years when Fallingwater became a tourist attraction but for a guy that emphasized function over style maybe he should have foreseen that.
I'm sure our poster buddy 'dino' wouldn't want to see him at the design table for bridge construction.

All his places leaked....that's how you know it is a real "Wright".
There's a well known local architect here who did some nice houses in the 80s and 90s, passed away now. Every one we looked at had structural issues. He would have a slab poured and then walk out and draw lines on the slab freehand. Then he'd tell the framing crew to build walls there. He was always getting questions like "but the walls don't connect".
Very creative guy, but no engineering talent.
I'm sure there's a (British?) car analogy to be made there as well.
I was in the booze business for over a decade, so I know a bit about how this all works. You would be astounded at how little it costs InBev to manufacture a case of Bud or Busch. Literally, it is next to nothing on a unit volume basis. The packaging costs more than the beer. The profit margins for commercial brewers are huge because of their massive scale. That is offset by marketing and distribution costs, but on product itself, the margins are huge. No craft brewer could even come close.
The thing about craft beer is that once you get bought, the beer geeks find out about it and immediately start moving on to the next independent brewer. A lot of owners want to get bought out, as they get tired of the headaches associated with growth and competition and having to make the same thing all the time. But there is no shortage of others who want to move in, and the cycle continues. Up here in Canada they never even tried to pass off Blue Moon as craft beer. It was packaged as a Molson's "Rickards" branded product for a while, and now has morphed into "Belgian Moon" for trademark reasons I presume, but nobody mistakes it for craft beer. Something similar happened to Shock Top and is now happening again for Goose Island. The list of "used-to-be-craft" beers is growing, but there are all kinds of others moving in to take their place.
The big brewers aren't built to manage little craft operations. They just aren't, and InBev in particular is run by a fairly ruthless bunch out of Brazil who really do not understand the phenomenon very well. They are buying these things without any real plan, and as soon as the corporate culture develops one, the value of those acquisitions will spiral down as corporate management imposes itself upon the operators. All the big commercial guys understand is volume, and that is the antithesis to craft brewing.
Reminds me of Jack Daniel's charcoal mellowed drop by drop tagline. Took the tour several times back in my Chattanooga days and the "dropper" gizmo looked like it was flushing whiskey through the vat by the hundreds of gallons to me. Ah, marketing.
local indy brewers are popping up all the time. Just recently went to one by me that is literally 4 guys that outgrew their garage, and have a small place now (back end of a print shop). Tasting room only open Friday night and saturday day (they work real jobs) and from chatting, everything is sold from the tasting room (or very limited kegging). Some interesting stuff, but I don't think InBev will be buying them anytime soon.
I found this picture online. I believe the gold calipers are part of the Competition Package, which I didn't order, so mine should be blue. Otherwise, it looks like what I ordered.

I guess he was a better designer than an engineer. I seem to remember one of his more famous houses (Falling Water?) had to be seriously rebuilt because the various cantilevers caused stress cracks everywhere and they were afraid it might collapse.

Wright designed Fallingwater, but the builder advised the owners to strengthen the balconies or they wouldn't hold up. The owners did that, but, Wright was angry that they disobeyed him. It's a good thing they did, as it isn't that strong even with the stronger construction.
Wright likes to design the furniture too. He made one wooden chair but the owners thought it was too formal for a cottage, and wanted their own design. Wright told them he would design the built ins, but they could choose their own movable furniture.....he wasn't going to do it.
Most of these houses have to be constantly repaired for leaks, and the ones I have seen, 4 including sites, all have major leaks and usually a few buckets around to catch the rain.

Expecting a September delivery. Pretty exciting.

The car was supposed to get a revolutionary water-cooled flat 4 engine but that idea was abandoned due to complexity and cost, so the first Minors had little 918cc flathead engines.
Does it help in the performance? Likely not as they are usually found on FWD cars and peo people rarely drive fast enough for the aerodynamics to kick in.

I've seen a few of those spoilers mainly on modified Honda Civics. They make the car go really fast and attract many chicks.

The 2017s have an updated idrive system that's supposed to be a big improvement.

I found this picture online. I believe the gold calipers are part of the Competition Package, which I didn't order, so mine should be blue. Otherwise, it looks like what I ordered.

Leaked like a sieve from day one.
Weatherproofing does not seem to have been among his considerable skills.

GG, I would bet that no, you can't retrofit car play into the older system. But that is just an educated guess!

He was quite the tyrant, that guy. I've read that he really terrorized some people.
Very creative guy, but no engineering talent.
I'm sure there's a (British?) car analogy to be made there as well.

That looks really nice. Any BMW with an M in the name has to be a hot car. Like that color too.
