    In Russia, sewer flushes you.

Not to give it away but there's a related mystery car pictured in the Spotted Obscure cars discussion that @PF_Flyer posted this morning.

    Guys, Mike appreciated your well wishes. Here is an update, he said was OK for me to pass on;

    It is liver cancer
Will have surgery, scheduled for 7 to 10 days from now
    6 or 7 hour operation
5 to 7 days in ICU in hospital, then a week in rehab
    No driving for 2 months
Hopefully, they can remove all cancer, and won't reach lymph nodes

I know we all will be wishing and praying for the best possible results.

Thanks for the update although we wanted to hear better news than that. Just be sure to let him know he is in our prayers.

My prayers will be added to the others. Nobody should have to go through what he has endured.

I am the original isellhondas but somehow, once again, I have lost the ability to check in. It used to be my password would automatically auto fill but not anymore. this happened before and I can't remember the remedy.

So, unless a Moderator can get this fixed, after over twenty years here I guess it's time to say goodbye.

I will certainly miss all of you and your friendship.

No, isellhondas4 was my way of signing in before when I had trouble. It wants to reset my password for that instead of isellhondas. Not the first time this has happened!

RB....an old boss had one of those Capris....bought new. It was a lemon from the day he drove it from the dealer to our office. One of the pieces for the convertible top broke, and he couldn't get the top back up. Compunding the problem, he put the top down driving from the dealer to the office. Once at the office, a quick, but torential downpour happened, making the new Capri interior a fish bowl.

He kept it a couple of years but finally bit the bullet and traded it in, losing a ton of money because he could never rid it of electronic gremlins or that wet, musty smell.

I learned that the S4's moon roof when tilted back isn't waterproof in an Arizona downpour; luckily it still stops 97% of the water, but 3% can be more than I expected in just a few minutes of downpour.

As I've shared before, I had a '76 Sunbird coupe, with V6, (Buick 231, 105hp), 5 sp, PS, PB, AC, pretty much loaded. I drove it during my college years and traded it in late '83 for an '80 Mazda 626 coupe. In '87 I bought an '80 Sunbird hatchback, Iron Duke, 4sp, PS, AC for my sister for $700. It was gold with a tan vinyl interior. What struck me about both cars is how heavy the clutch was. The AC on both cars was GM cold, but it really drained the engine of power, felt like driving it with the parking brake was engaged. I paid $2900 for the '76 with 18k mi, and got $2700 in '83 with 82k mi. My sister received $1k from insurance for hers after someone rear ended her Sunbird. It was still drivable and she kept the car. Traded it on a '86 Civic 4dr, and got another $300--at least on paper!

Prior to the Sunbird, I drove a '66 Baja Bug my parents had bought, so the difference in the clutches between it and the Sunbird were pretty large. No way were you going to speed shift the Sunbird with that heavy clutch.

And, my car didn't have a tach, so I had to shift by sound.
Funny a manual transmission car wouldn't have a tach but a 3-speed auto '95 Neon would.

It's the same meter cops use to estimate your travel speed when they issue a speeding ticket without either pacing you or using the radar. It's called the best guesstimate BS meter.

I challenge any LEO out there to estimate my speed accurately and consistently at 1,000 to 2,000 feet away without having land markers.

Today, I went with a friend to Legendary Motorcar Company just North and West of Toronto. Lot of nice Corvettes, Shelby Mustangs, Yanko Chev, Sunbeams, Ferraris, etc.

I did find this car for oldfarmer, remember it will be 30% less in US dollars,

1986 Corvette Pace Car, 5.7 litre 235 hp (kinda weak), 4 speed, 9501 original miles just $24900! Wouldn't that make a nice little weekend car?
On the website it says sold, but it wasn't at the showroom!

I think any reasonable judge would interpret "Slower Traffic Keep Right" and "Keep Right Except to Pass" as essentially the same thing. One maybe being more lenient to allowing use of the left lane when no one else is around. Otherwise, "slower" is a relative term that has nothing to do with slow. If someone is going faster than you, by definition you are slower. Pretty simple if you ask me.

The "no one should go faster" than me crowd has failed to comprehend the English language and has failed to read the sign. They enjoy being a rolling roadblock.

I would think any reasonable judge would not interpret a sign but rather interpret the actual traffic code.

"Slower traffic keep right" does not mean "keep right except to pass", "slower traffic" implies that traffic that is not "Slower" does not have to "keep right". And most laws are written defining "slower traffic" as that which is going slower than the normal flow of traffic.
Traffic is slower if someone else is going faster. There is no way around it. You can apply all the definitions you wish, but in the real world we must use the reasonable person standard. No reasonable person can calculate to any accuracy whether someone is beyond the norm when they are going faster, so it is reasonable to keep right except to pass, and also reasonable to assume someone going faster is the "normal flow of traffic" since proving otherwise would be difficult. Therefore all slower traffic would keep right except to pass.

The signs are in black and white. They are not advisory yellow.
The legal definition of "slower" is based on the flow of traffic, and that's how it is written into law. That means that means that at a particular time if the normal flow of traffic is going 65 MPH then going under 65 MPH is lower traffic. In this situation if I am going 70 MPH and you're coming up behind me at 80 MPH I am NOT the slower traffic as most traffic would be slower than me.

It is easy to prove that someone going faster is going faster than the flow of traffic. A quick way is to compare the number of cars that car passes vs the number of cars that pass that car. So if you are going faster and passing 5 cars for every car that passes you you are not the normal flow of traffic.

And yes it is in black and white but that black and white is found in the states vehicle code, not on signs.

Hmm.... Just got a hit from the Samba ad - the inquiry is Italian which of course I can't read, and it looks like the sender is somewhere in the northern half of Italy.

    Contact: NICOLA - xxxxxxxxxx@alice.it
Buyer location: Sant antimo 80029 italia

Here is what they sent - "Salve potrei avere altre foto che anno e che cilindratta" , which Google translates to "Hi I have other photos that year and that cilindratta"

Seems like this is likely a scam?

OK, last night I went to a foreign country, OK it was Indiana but that's pretty much the same thing, anyway I saw two interesting signs for local dealerships. The first one boasted "If we cannot get you financing we'll give you the car". The second one boasted a "$2,000 down payment assistance".

Take them for what they are worth, I just wonder how many people fall for them.

That's in nice shape but a little pricey. Then again less than 10k miles.....hmmmmmmmm. I'd need a passport to go see it.

My 84 only had 200hp but with 280ft.lbs. of torque it could stand up and howl if needed.

If I really wanted a Corvette again it's for sale down the street for $5k.

What do you think of the Lincoln LS from the early 2000s. Lòt of negative stories about coil problems, transmissions too.

Are they junk or no more problematic than other contemporary domestics of the time?

So, is that how you became Driver100?  Started as Driver1 and it just went from there?   B)

    That is an LOL!

Yeh, I hate those flags so I just get rid of them by getting a new number.

Ah, Peter Klutt's fortress up in Halton Hills.

A tough businessman from what I hear. Guess you have to be to afford a place like that.
I just checked, Peter Klutt is worth $10 million, and has a TV show about cars on Mens TV. I wouldn't know him, but he walked in while we were there. He said hello and then ran off to his office. My friend who watches the show and knew who he was wasn't impressed....he thought if the guy was a great businessman he would have come over and talked a bit - you never know who will buy one of those cars.

My van is manual without a tach. Maybe in 1988 swarthy tradesmen were expected to shift by sound alone....like a man!

I haven't driven a stick since I drove Son #1's '95 Trans AM a few years ago that he bought for when he was tracking. I never did take my eyes off the road to look at the tach when shifting his car. I was always taught to keep my eyes on the road. I guess I learned how to use my ears like when I drove for UPS when I was going to night school back in the mid 60's.

There are some things you never forget and other things you don't want to learn.

Where did you get a rainwater percent meter?

I have several meters in the garage...volt, amp, ohm, power factor, etc. but no rainwater percentage jobs. :o

    jmonroe
It's the same meter cops use to estimate your travel speed when they issue a speeding ticket without either pacing you or using the radar. It's called the best guesstimate BS meter.

I challenge any LEO out there to estimate my speed accurately and consistently at 1,000 to 2,000 feet away without having land markers.
You sure did twist my question around. Twisted it so bad I had to go back and read what I first wrote. Since you seem to get your share of speeding tickets, I wonder if you have used that twisting technique if/when you try to defend yourself in traffic court or when the LEO is writing you up at the curb. I can see through your twisting and I'm sure judges (we even have a retired one here) and LEO's have heard it so many times they can tell you some twists that you have never thought of yourself and even they won't work.

You're free to answer my original question about where you got your "rain percent meter". But do me a favor, NO TWISTS THIS TIME, PLEASE.

Oh that is funny. Not even bad English but bad Italian. :D

    Guys, Mike appreciated your well wishes. Here is an update, he said was OK for me to pass on;

I am the original isellhondas but somehow, once again, I have lost the ability to check in. It used to be my password would automatically auto fill but not anymore. this happened before and I can't remember the remedy.

I will certainly miss all of you and your friendship.

I don't have any flags either...maybe we are just too boring. I wasn't laughing at you when I punched lol, I was having a senior moment and I thought I was hitting a smiley face...but the LOL symbol has a smiley face and I pressed the wrong icon.........at least an LOL is better than a flag.

    To see their inventory:
    LEGENDARY MOTORCAR

That's in nice shape but a little pricey. Then again less than 10k miles.....hmmmmmmmm. I'd need a passport to go see it.
If I really wanted a Corvette again it's for sale down the street for $5k.
One thing I don't get. I thought it would make a nice 2nd or 3rd car for getting groceries on a Saturday or Sunday. But, there doesn't seem to be a trunk or room behind the seats. How do you store something, or is the trunk seamless?

I don't know on the convertible but mine had a hatch with a small cargo area behind the seat. Of course once you threw the roof in there wasn't much grocery room.

This is what I was wondering. That Lincoln is a nice looking car and for $3800 seems like a pretty good bargain. If you found a similar year Ford or Chev for example, would the price be similar and would parts and labor cost less to keep it on the road? I was once told a long time ago that a repair on a Cadillac will cost a lot more than on an Impala, even though the actual part may be exactly the same.
