The transmission in this application works great. It shifts to wherever you want it to, when it's supposed to, and it does so quickly and smoothly. No hunting! Acura and ZF must have had a good long "heart to heart" technical conversation.
nice; enjoy
how is the gear selector? easy to get used to?
I miss the seats and the V6 from my acura tl; no so much the service so glad you have a good dealer in cinci
@graphicguy Congrats on the TLX! What a sharp looking car, you'll enjoy it for sure. I completely agree with your comment on the Q50 being a luxo cruiser, it's a good one for sure but there's no sporting feel at all. Look forward to hearing more about the TLX as you drive it.
How I can tell the days of Sat radio to be numbered. I had a cheap subscription in the Infiniti, as that's the only way I'll subscribe. And, that's only because of two channels....Bluesville and Beatles.
So, want to cancel on the Infiniti and add it to the TLX. They won't let you do it online, as you have to call them so they can upsell you.
Simple request....add the rest of my subscription from the Infiniti to the end of the trial period on the Acura. I went through 10 minutes of them trying to have me go to an annual contract (with me coming out of pocket) and having an XM receiver in my home (not interested).
Finally, after all of that, I told them..."just cancel the Infiniti subscription and refund the amount left". That got their attention, but they still tried to get me to buy something....anything. I eventually just had to keep repeating and talking over the customer service person..."cancel my subscription....cancel my subscription.....cancel my subscription".
What are the odds after all that they contact me in 90-days, after the trial is up, trying to do the same sales job?
@graphicguy - I think you made an excellent choice; that is one good looking sedan - it even has me interested, which I've never said about Acura before.

I got the XM renewal invoice for the Jetta last week. They want $100+ for 6 months.
I'll let the subscription expire, then call them up and see what kind of deal can be made. I think I paid $30-35 last time for 6 months.
While everything is moving to a subscription based revenue model, XM implements it very poorly. I'd much rather pay $6-12/mo (or whatever the market can bear) instead of the 6 or 12 month renewal dance that almost everybody goes through.

I went through exactly the same thing when I turned in my Regal and got the ATS. I wasn't as tough as you though and ended up with 2 XM accounts, one for the Regal that had a credit balance and one for the ATS. Didn't notice it for over a year and took a while to sort it all out and combine them into one. Eventually I got disgusted by their business model and cancelled them outright. I stand by my opinion that XM is a vile company.
@graphicguy - congrats on the Acura! I REALLY like the look of the new facelift and A-spec model. I'm not generally a fan of red, but that looks great!
@GG I am late to the party but congrats on the purchase and thanks for keeping Ohioans working. By the way, is the TLX made in Ohio or is it an import?
It seems @graphicguy and I are on the same sort of schedule when it comes to vehicles. It was 2 1/2 years ago that he and I both got new Cadillacs within a day or so of each other. Granted, he has gone thru 4 or 5 new vehicles since while I have stood pat, but still...
If all the pieces fall into place then I will also have a new vehicle, hopefully by the end of the week. Confirmed a bunch of things and heard all the right answers. Stay tuned...
Speaking of Sirius/XM, the manner in which they try to rope their customers into something that is outrageous in terms of pricing at the onset of contacting them is very typical of a MONOPOLY! That's just what they are - a monopoly. They have absolutely no competition when it comes to satellite radio. So they treat their customers just like a utility treats their customers - with disdain and superiority. You can't buy electricity from a competitor any more than you can buy satellite radio from a competitor.
Thank goodness for fairly decent HD FM stations, especially in larger metropolitan areas, not to mention iHeart and Pandora Radio as well as Apple Radio and BMW satellite music, which is beamed right into my car from BMW. Additionally, I have all my favorite music which I purchased from Apple right on the hard drive of my car. So if Sirius/XM plays "hard to get" regarding pricing, I just cancel the darn service at the end of the one year promotional period. I don't listen to satellite radio enough to make it worth the money they are usually asking for subscriptions, etc.
Well, once again we are under an urban flood warning. We've had constant rain for 3-days now. Today, alone, we've had in excess of 3" of rain with 3-4 more inches expected in the next several hours. Welcome to rainy season! :@

@bwia....made in OHIO. IF anyone ever gets the chance to see the plant in Marysville, OH, it is quite a site to behold. You'll understand by the enthusiasm, processes, cleanliness, etc why Honda's products are so reliable and well put together.

OF...."FlooZies", LOL!....yeah....strayed but finally came home. Neighbor saw me pull in last night. He literally ran over to the front of my garage in curiosity, but later to make note of the fact that I'm the person on our cul-de-sac that would end up with two red cars. What he's insinuating is something I don't quite understand, but I'll wear the scarlet car moniker proudly!
I have always liked Acuras. Own one now, and 2 prior. And have looked at plenty more over the years (loved the original TSX). I can think of 5 others owned at one point by close family members too.
I think my model year TSX ('08) was among the last that were "made in Japan." The way to know for sure is to look at the VIN. The first character tells where it was built. If it's a number 1, then it was built in the U.S. If it's a J it was built in, you guessed it, Japan.
Wow, @graphicguy that is gorgeous. Congratulations. I knew nothing of the A Spec until a few days ago but reading and now seeing it I think it's going on the list.
1997 Honda Prelude Base - 2022 Acura MDX Type S Advance - 2021 Honda Passport Sport - 2006 BMW 330Ci ZHP
I also had a 1st gen TSX - an '04 that I thoroughly enjoyed. Prior to that, a '90 Civic Si and '93 Prelude Si; and my brother had a '94 Integra GSR. Love, love those Honda products.
This current TLX is obviously a different animal, but I do find myself feeling nostalgic to get back into a Honda/Acura product again.

I got this email about a look to the future. Just some of the highlights;
Most car companies will probably become bankrupt . Traditional car companies try the evolutionary approach and just build a better car, while tech companies ( Tesla, Apple, Google ) will do the revolutionary approach and build a computer on wheels . Many engineers from Volkswagen and Audi; are completely terrified of Tesla . Insurance companies will have massive trouble because without accidents, the insurance will become 100x cheaper . Their car insurance business model will disappear.
Health: The Tricorder X price will be announced this year. There are companies who will build a medical device (called the " Tricorder " from Star Trek) that works with your phone, which takes your retina scan, your blood sample and you breathe into it. It then analyses 54 bio-markers that will identify nearly any disease . It will be cheap, so in a few years everyone on this planet will have access to world class medical analysis, nearly for free Goodbye, medical establishment
Business opportunities : If you think of a niche you want to go in, first ask yourself: "In the future, do I think we will have that?" and if the answer is yes, how can you make that happen sooner?
If it doesn't work with your phone, forget the idea. And any idea designed for success in the 20 th century is doomed to failure in the 21 st century.
Work : 70-80 % of jobs will disappear in the next 20 years. There will be a lot of new jobs, but it is not clear if there will be enough new jobs in such a short time. This will require a rethink on wealth distribution.
There is more, but those are some of the big changes to think about.........

GG, congrats on that beautiful new Acura. You bought that car for the only reason that really counts. It was made for you, and you had to have it. Enjoy.
You need an account to make that work.....they are desperately trying to get people to come back. I have about 12 hours of music on my USB stick....all songs I like, when my freebie subscription runs out in a month....Good By Sirius!
About the future predictions....they are just predictions, but, a lot of things have been happening faster than they thought. And, they can even do operations using robots from another location. Who knew retail stores would be almost extinct, that amazon would become the largest retailer, that the largest cab company would be an e business, same with the largest hotel chain.....even 5 years ago? Who knew we are on the verge of losing huge numbers of people who work as cashiers as they will be able to scan all your items as you walk out the door....just 5 years ago? Blindspot warnings, GPS, cars that park themselves and can stop themselves, and on and on.......
Those are way out predictions, but, some could become possible,
GG, the Q50 was a beautiful car....but this Acura is really special. Definitely the right decision. Based on looks I would have checked them out before buying. How does that gear selector work...is it push button?

A better guess of the future - in 1980, a movie star will be President - Ronald Reagan from "Bonzo Joins The Circus"!
Just had a flash flood warning issued for Northeast Broward County - where I live - over the emergency broadcast frequency. 8-10 inches of rain already today with 4-6 inches expected in the next 6-8 hours. This is not fun. Canals already overflowing and many road closures.
And I still haven't seen the sun since the middle of last week.
@graphicguy, Nice car! How do you like the start/stop? Do you use it?
Explorer....was just talking about this the other day. Apparently the normal PRND shifter is no longer good enough (said sarcastically). BMW and Cadillac have moved to the "beer tap" shifter that isn't all that intuitive at first.
Mercedes has long used the "stalk shifter" to the right of the steering column that is a bit unusual.
Jag and Chrysler are using the "twister knob" to engage their transmissions. Lincoln is using buttons, like Acura is moving to.
Personal opinion, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. But, these new shifters seem to be a permanent trend.
In brief, I keep reaching for some sort of lever to shift the transmission. Eventually, I'm sure I'll get used to it. Not quite there yet during the first 24 hours of ownership.
The good news, I can operate it by feel. Park is rectangular at the very top of the button stack. Reverse is a tab you pull backwards to engage reverse. Drive is a big round button. Neutral is another button, and I'm not sure why people need to use neutral anymore to even use it.
Parking brake is a pull up (for engaging) and push down (to disengage). So much for the pull lever or (god forbid) the floor pedal to engage the parking brake.
Transmission shifts very quickly and smoothly. It doesn't hesitate or hunt. The one time I used the paddle shifters, they worked positively and quickly. No complaints except I wish the paddle shifters were bigger.
Driver...ain't gonna be many people that are going to go "red over red" on a TLX ASpec. So, feeling pretty unique in my choice. Not sure you'll see another any time soon. I like it that way.
Like driving the Cobra and winding it out in the first 3 gears....small children and dogs run scared as I bang into 2nd. I'm noticed!

Sounds like for the first time in a little while you are really happy with your purchase. The Infiniti was a more of a "need". This car is something you "wanted"
Good for you!! I haven't bought a car I really wanted since 2012. The Enclave is just a family hauler and the Elantra was a cheap deal just for a second car. Heck I've had it since Nov and it only has 3500 miles.
On another note, anyone here spec and build a large additonal/remodel recently?
We are moving my mother in and are looking at a 15X25 addition along with two new baths, upstairs laundry and new HVAC. It is a slow process. We've had three guys out since before Memorial Day and no quotes yet. Well first guy called after a week and said "about 78k". My wife was like, ok are you sending an itemized quote? He said he would work on it. Odd as his reviews were excellent.
Guy tonight was very good, but asked a lot of questions like "what is my house worth". I said that's irrelevant as I know we are over improving and aren't going anywhere. He said minimim st least 65-70 and will when a detailed proposal in 7-10 days. Hoping for the best.
Mom is getting a lot of activity on her house so we are hoping to start this by the end of the summer.
