On a 2015 AT Premium w/ All weather 36/10 dealer is quoting me
    $24,806 (TrueCar Price)
    Residual Value $16,573
    Monthly of $325 w all taxes/fees.

Also had a quote on a Base w popular package:
    $23,026
    $15,610
    Monthly $295 w all taxes/fees.

    Tax: 7.113

Do those monthly numbers look high?
What money factor/residual should they be using and what would they be at 12k?

    Thank you!

We need the MSRP of both units to model a payment.
    Premium w/ AWP - 26,445
    Base - 24,645
Premium - I'm getting a payment of $293.91/mo with tax

    Base - $275.71/mo with tax

Ask the dealer what the net cap cost is for these cars - I suspect that number is higher than the selling price; if so, have the dealer explain how they got to that number.
Dealer came back with this info on deal:
    2.5i Premium w/AWP
    MSRP - $26,445
    Lease Price - $24,806
    Subaru lease Charge - $595
    36/10 Residual - 62% = $16,845
    Money Factor 2.4% (or .001)
    Admin Fee - $199
    Monthy w/ Tax = $305
    @ 12k =$315
Tax - 8.113 (they say I'm off by 1 point)

I've run this through numerous calculators and can't get the numbers to come out close. I'm attempting to close tomorrow with the dealer, can you review this and let me know if the RV/MF changed for April or where the numbers are off from the dealer? Thanks for your help!

Are the two fees in the lease payment, or are you paying them upfront?

The money factor is actually .00099, but close enough.

Without fees or taxes, I get $275/mo.

I've emailed them that exact question. To make sure I have this correct:

    36/10 -
    MF - .00099
    RV - 62%

    36/12
    MF- .00099
    RV- 61%

When I go in tomorrow, if they tell me the RV/MF is different, do I ask then to show me the sheet online? I'm assuming there is some official literature that comes out from Subaru? Also, I'm using this calculator http://www.leaseguide.com/calc/ , is there any way they can discredit this or say it's wrong?

Thanks for all the assistance, you've made this much easier to understand,

    Yes.. your numbers are correct.

Ask them for the net cap cost.. Then compare that to the selling price and ask for an accounting of the difference. That usually clears things up.

Does subaru do lease terms less than 36? I'm looking for something like 24-30 months 10k/year for the upper end models.

Hello: Could any of you please let me know the following:

    2015 Forester 36 months
    X Touring:
    12K Miles: MF/Residual =
    10K Miles: MF/Residual =

    XT Touring:
    12K Miles: MF/Residual=
    10K Miles: MF/Residual =

If the dealer questions the MF and residual that I provide based on what any of you give me, what should I say the source is?
    Thank you,

They offer 24 month leases, but the rates are terrible.

The dealer will provide the money factor and residual. If it's marked up, tell him you want the base rate. They know what they numbers are... you won't have to prove it to them. If they lie, move on to another dealer.

Folks - Miller Subaru in Lumberton NJ. Master Con Artists. Watch out and preferably Stay Away. Thanks to this forum without which I would be clueless. The dealer was completely unwilling to provide the MF and RV but after repeated requests while I was at the dealership, he said MF is .00116 which I know was not right because of KYFDX and two other dealer who confirmed it to be .00066.

I am looking for 2015 XT Touring.

KYFDX - couple of dealers gave me different RVs for 10K miles on XT Touring. I got 57% from one and 58% from the other. No one gave me 59% as you stated above. It is indeed 59% correct?

Lastly, is there a rule where if I am trading in a leased Subaru for another Subaru - the acquisition fee is waived? One dealer did not even mention it and when I asked him, he said that there is No acq. fee.

    Thank you.

36/10 residual on the XT Touring is 58%. Dealer is not allowed to modify this.

$595 acquisition fee - I see nothing about it being waived if another Subaru is leased.

Michaell and KYFDX - Thanks a ton for the info and guidance. I just ended up leasing my 2015 XT Touring. Here is my experience and info:

Dealer Ciocca Subaru in Allentown PA. Apparently the second largest in the World. Not just US.
Sticker: $36,416 (XT Touring with Nav/Eyesight and Popular Pkg 1)
    Invoice: $34,072
Asking Price: $33736 (I agreed to it as I thought that it was decent)
Subaru NY Auto Show Coupon: $250 Applied bringing the cost down to $33486.
Dealer Doc Fee was adjusted in the sale price bringing it further down to $33352
    10K Miles/36 Months
    MF= .00066
    RV: 58%

    My Calculations:
    $339.74 base depriciation
    $35.95 MF
    $26.29 tax
    Monthly total came to $401.98

I volunteered to pay $595 Acq fee, $134 doc fee (adjusted elsewhere), and other Title, tire, etc = $992 separately.
I also paid the remote starter $454 separately as I did not want this in the lease.

    Some interesting things happened:
The vehicle buyer's purchase order had different number than the numbers sheet the Manager. He had a theory for it and said that it was because NJ requires all lease tax be collected upfront. I agree with that law as I am aware of it. His due at signing came to $2100 which included $992 + first month payment + taxes. However, he struck off the number and handwritten and signed "992 due at signing; dealer responsible for the difference" and initialed it.

The Lease Agreement had slightly different numbers too but the interesting thing is -
    1. Subaru to Subaru lease (trading in a subaru) - in this case subaru takes care of first month's payment.
    2. According to his re-run of numbers, my monthly on the lease agreement shows only $392.76 (not $401.98). This is good. Again - he explained the way taxes are reflected on the contract.

    Bottomline:

    1. Monthly payment comes to $392.76
    2. I paid two separate payments: $992 + $454 (remote starter)
    3. My 2013 2.5i Forester Premium with 22100 miles on it fetched me $2403 in positive equity. He said that he will mail the check on Monday and gave me a signed "check request" that he made with accounting as it was past 8PM and they were gone.

Does not look shady to me all in all although I would have preferred to have the numbers on the lease agreement match the numbers he and I agreed on buyer's order and dealer "screens" that he emailed me. I personally think that he is reflecting a different set of numbers on lease agreement to get more money from the company (Subaru) or something like that.

Experience with Dealer: They are fairly decent crowd. Probably some of the best non bait and switch I have seen so far. You still cannot be too careful when it comes to stuff like this but I found them to be non-bullying, polite, friendly people who held onto to their decency during the entire time despite my numerous questions etc. I have shopped for the specific vehicle which is not easy to find with at least 30+ dealers. Some are crappy and others are way off on numbers. If any of you live in NJ, my suggestion would be consider buying from these guys. I had to drive 90 miles one way but it appears to be well worth it.

Sorry for the long post but I wanted to be as informative as I can to you all as I found this forum to be immensely helpful without which quite frankly it would not have been possible to know the info.

Thoughts on the Driving Experience: The thing was not driving on the road. The damn thing was flying at 250 Horses. In hindsight, I should have gotten the XT back in 2012. If you want thrill in driving, XT is the best. This is better than the BMW X3 that I test drove which only had 230 horses under the hood.

Anyone considering a NON-XT version - I suggest test driving an XT version along with the regular one. After driving the 2.5i Premium for 3 yrs, I realized that the engine was sluggish esp. if you are needing the extra power to merge into a traffic and other similar situations. Switching to XT - I couldn't be more happier.

My wife thinks the same way you do. Just bought an Outback. 2.5i engine was a non-starter from the get-go. She had to have, and got, the 3.6 engine.

If we were looking at the Forester, the XT would have been the only engine to consider.

58% and .00082 for 36/15. .10 per mile extra, so $900 deducted from the calculated residual if you want 18,000 miles per year.

    Hi everyone,
This looks like the place to be for someone with my questions. Thanks in advance. I'm shopping this week, so would it be possible to get this info for both May and June?

What is the money factor/residual for the following in NY:
    - 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i Premium w/All-Weather Pkg/EyeSight MSRP $27,245
    - 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i Premium w/All-Weather Pkg MSRP $27,150
    - 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i Limited w/Nav/Harman Kardon Audio

36 month lease 10k miles (12k if 10k is not an option)

I also see this deal is on Subaru's website: Lease a new 2015 Forester for $249/Month
Now through June 1, 2015 Lease a new 2015 Forester for $249/Month on a 36-Month Lease (Standard 2.5i 6MT model, code FFA-01). $1,949 due at lease signing. $0 security deposit.

I don't intend to put anything down, but my trade-in is worth around $2000. I'd like to walk out without spending much more than that.

I'm also wondering how to find the net capitalized cost.

Looking at a couple of dealers on LI and could use the help!

Looking at a couple of dealers on LI and could use the help!

.00082 MF and 61% residual for either model, 36mo, 10K/yr.

How much money you put upfront is entirely up to you.. Advertised deals adjust the money upfront, so that they can advertise a low payment. It's just an example, not a requirement. But, that low payment is on a vehicle that is a lot cheaper than the models you are looking at. You aren't going to get a payment that's anywhere close to that.

The net CAP cost is dependent of the selling price you negotiate.
The CAP on that advertised deal is $21,413, but the MSRP is only $23,045>

You can do the same thing, here. Use the Make/Model/Year tabs at the top of the page to get Edmunds TMV price.

Most of Subaru's advertised leases assume a $500 dealer discount. So, even though they are popular, there is plenty of room to do better, I would think.

I found this forum last night and went shopping with the info you provided today. Thank you so much for the help. I'm hoping you can answer a few questions based on what I learned today:
    - Does the money factor and residual change as of June 1? If so, would it be possible to get the current mf/residual on the following (I would like to know May's rates if they don't change yet):
    - 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i Limited w/Nav/Harman Kardon Audio MSRP $31982 TrueCar $28883 TMV ???
    - 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i Limited MSRP $29935 TrueCar $27283 TMV $28232

    Both for NY.

I feel like TMV and Truecar are both way higher than the invoice price, but I’m having trouble getting solid info on invoice prices beyond general stuff, so not sure.

My biggest issue is net CAP cost, because without invoice price, I don’t know how to figure that out, and I don’t know where I should draw my negotiating line in the sand.

Last question: today is the end of the month. I heard the This American Life about buying at the end of the month, and I’m curious if waiting past today is going to hurt me, money-wise. I start a new job next week and would like to have the car by then.

New lease program is effective on June 2nd. We don't have those numbers, yet.
.00049 MF and 59% residual for the Limited, 36mo, 12K/yr.

If you look up TMV, Edmunds also gives you the invoice price.. No need for guessing. Of course, no one can tell you what actual price you'll be able to negotiate.

End of the month for Subaru is tomorrow, Monday.

Thanks again! I forgot to specify that I'd only need a 10k per year lease; does that make much of a difference? I'm planning on trying to get this done tomorrow if that's the last day of the month for them.
