It appears to me that most people are paying $3,000 to $4,000 under sticker. Is this correct? I am looking to buy a Accord EX or SE, 4 cylinder, automatic. Has anyone on the board purchased a vehicle in Connecticut and if yes where and amount paid? Has the new 2003 hit the dealers yet. Should I wait until they come out?
Thanks
Magico
Inv on this car is 19227, with the 1250 dealer
incentive that drops to 17977 - so $50 below invoice. Dealer profit would be holdback (2% BASE
MSRP, $20,850) $417. Plus they may get the additional $250 from Honda from meeting dealer quota. But there was no push to buy the car yesterday vs next week in a new calendar month. As I see it, their profit (assuming car is fresh enough to earn holdback) is $367, maybe $617 based on meeting quota. Plus they include mats and wheel locks which soften their numbers a little bit. $17915 is $3400 below MSRP of $21,310. I can see this car being bought as low as $17,500 which is about breakeven for the dealer. But, there were 3 SE avail, and the dealer was VERY busy on Saturday afternoon. I can live with the dealer making $350, maybe $250 more, even though it is year end. And that's based on holdback - something I don't think the buyer normally gets dibs on anyway.
And, a website that appears to be reliable, indicates the $1250 mfgr to dealer extends through Sep 30.
The local Honda dealer is advertising $18,999. They appear to be holding most of the $1250 incentive. They may do better, but I don't plan to find out.
CarsDirect quote for this area is $19,026.
If I crunched the numbers incorrectly, let me know.
This is through a private seller and my research has shown this is on the high end. I feel 16,000 would be more than fair. And are there any problems that I should be aware about the '98 version?
What do you think?
that I lost the subject of the message
If it includes these at 15,395 then that
is a super deal!
Enjoy your new car!
Trade in: My 97 Jeep Wrangler, auto, alloy wheels, oversized tires, sound bar, a/c, 61k miles. (Kelly blue book - Trade in value $7500). They offered me only $5,500.
For: 02 Accord EX, 4cyl, cloth seats - at $19,500.
From an earlier post I saw that Dealers in nerby Georgia are selling the same car for $18k or $18.5k.
I'm going to sell my Jeep for around 9k and try to buy an Accord by the end of the month. Keep your fingers crossed.
Let me know your thoughts.

Price: $17,264
Doc Fee: $499
Tax: 6%
Title: $18
Lemon Law: 3$.
I think I got the good deal with no trade in. I just don't the Doc Fee with 499.
Here is Doc fee in Atlanta:
HennessyHonda: 199
Gwinnett Place Honda: 399
Curry Honda: 379
Team Honda: 399
Lanier Honda: 499.
Mall of Georgia Toyota: 479
Stone Mountain Toyota: 389
Justfor the damn paper work. I asked them why there is discrepancy in Doc fee. The answer I got from them is bigger dealer need to pay a lot for the salesmen. This is a crappy answer. I really don't know how many ways and unique can each dealer process the paperwork for the new or old car. It is another way the dealer get additional money from you beside the 4 square boxes.
Charging more than $40 for document fees is an insult. They're all computerized now, so it costs the dealer next to nothing. It's nothing but a blatant attempt to try to screw you.
When you go to the supermarket, do they add on a $2.00 fee for the check out person's time? Does Best Buy charge $.50 for the register tape?
Another interesting thing... the Silver coupe I got had a manufacture date of 7/02... I took delivery on Labor Day, so this must have been one of the last '02's off the line!
I cannot find any prices other than msrp on the
www.herbchambers.com. Were you referring to a newspaper advt.

please ignore my prev message. I found the newspaper advt also on their websit.
Thx
Price including all but taxes...$22,660. Good price?
In Boulder, Colorado!
i ended up with the price i wrote a few posts back, and talked the trade-in up to $13.5 with them switching my intake out for me. i know i could have gotten at least a grand more had i sold it myself, but it saved me the hassle of advertising, showing the car AND getting under the car and switching the intake back to stock.
Also....when I returned to the dealer...I honestly couldn't recall the auto shifting....!
It really is much smoother than before and the handling was great...well..gotta run....hope this helps in your decision....
ps.....don't forget to wear your seat belt!
GOD BLESS AMERICA
Silver EX V6. Leased for $302 a month with $400 cap cost reduction. Not too shabby for a 26k car!!!
I'm planning to buy a '03 Accord. I'm living in Champaign, Illinois. Yesterday I visited a dealership in Savoy, very near to my area. The car looks good. I expected to get some discount even though it is a brand new one. However, the dealer told me that he could not give me any amount discount below the MSRP. I just got out. Does anyone who bought a '03 Accord in Illinois? I would appreciate if you share the story with me.
Thanks.
I got one hell of a deal, and only two days after it came out!
Up to 156 miles now, and I think its a great car. Unfortunately, it's my wife's daily driver. I have to drive our '01 Accord EX V6 Coupe, but I steal her car every chance I get.
Now for the offer:
$1995 out of pocket (tax, 1st pay.,bank fee, mv fees)
$315 monthly payment (39 month/12k miles)
Dealer "Throw-ins": Extend Warranty for 3 months (39 total months), Moon Roof Wind Deflector, 2 free services/oil changes, 4 free car washes
This is one of the better offers I've found here in New York so far. I'm seeing another dealer tommorow who promised similar numbers, but for 36 months (no "throw-ins" yet).
Any other lease deals out there? Let me know.
EX-L 4-Cyl. Auto. Trans. @ $287/mo. + $2000 o.o.p.
I was all set for the I4 when he hit me with a deal for a V6 (EX-L) @ $312/mo. + $2000 o.o.p.
The I4 is all I need (for the way I drive), but is $25/mo. too small a difference to pass up the V6?
I had thought $27k would be a decent starting point cause I'ld seen a 2002 demo vehicle with 10,500 kms listed at $27k at another dealer. I didn't expect to have to negotiate down from only $600 off of MSRP. Anyone have similar experiances or comments?
Thanks
YHARI
The car is extremely hot right now and deals are very hard to find. One dealer even went so far as begin the negotiation $1k above MSRP (+$27,000). Needless to say that I walked right out. In fact, most dealers were letting you walk out without stopping. However, I found out that they will let you walk out but expect a call from them in a couple of days to talk about a deal. Most were in the $25k - $26k range. Looking at other discussion boards, it appears that invoice is in the neighborhood of $23,500.
Hope this helps. Good luck in your search.
