I know Carbon Bronze is available with a Beige interior in cloth, does it also come in black cloth?(EX I-4)? My dad would love to know; he's soon to trade in his Silver EX on a new one, and likes the Carbon, but wants a black interior only. Thanks!
  • newenglandgalnewenglandgal Member Posts: 7
I picked up the Carbon Bronze V6 EX with black leather interior. So I'd assume that the 4cyl EX would also offer a black interior. The beige was just TOO much beige for me. It freaked me out when I first sat in a beige one, so I figured that just really wasn't the color for me.

I realized that some dealers aren't quite up on all of their latest Accord lines. One dealer argued with me that each car only came with one interior, that there weren't any choices (such as silver with grey interior OR black interior, etc.) They also don't realize that the V6 models have a fully lined trunk (meaning lining under the trunk lid) while the 4's don't.

    Happy shopping.

Guys if you go to chicago suburb to buy your new honda you can save upto $1100. I saved $1100. Peoria honda dealer does not compromise with the price. They say the invoice price is the dead invoice price..they cannot go below that. So if anyone live in peoria/ bloomington area go to chicago area to get better deal. Saving $1000 worth the 200 miles driving.

I bet it is, but I was inquiring about cloth. Thanks though.
  • tallman1tallman1 Member Posts: 1,874
You can get Carbon Bronze in black or ivory, cloth or leather.

    mattgg1:
Congratulations on your purchase. You have the car I want to buy for my son and you got it at the right price.
I went to a local dealer on Saturday and they wouldn't budge below invoice, a bit over $20,200. The best Internet quote I have thus far is $19,400, including destination. You did better!
    1) Where/who was the dealership. Anywhere around NYC?
    2) The dealer told me they were only getting holdbacks on the '06 Accord, no other incentives, so they couldn't go below invoice.
    3) They said their new policy is to service only cars bought at the dealership, clearly stating that if I bought the car elsewhere I would not be able to use their service department. Isn't this a violation of their agrrement with American Honda? Don't they have to service any Honda purchased anywhere? Why would they care since Service is a separate profit center?
    Thanks for your help!

Went in looking for the Accord VP automatic. Dealer had one, with 13 miles on it. test drove it, liked it. Offered to trade in my 1995 Oldsmobile with 187K miles on it. I knew invoice was 17,132, i said i wanted invoice + tax and tags, = 18K. No dice. they wanted 18.8 firm.

to make matters worse, they offered me 100 dollars for my trade in. My mom and I laughed all the way home, in my 100 dollar piece o crap.

    I'll probably buy a camry.

Well, would you have bought if they met your $18k price but still only gave you $100 for your car? Because, honestly, you aren't going to get any more real money from a dealer for that trade in. Sell it yourself, you'll do much better. Any dealer that shows more for your trade on paper is just taking the hit elsewhere.

A tip: Never introduce the prospective trade-in until after a firm number is decided on and settled. That way, you won't get taken for a ride with negotiating both numbers at the same time. You know, like:

You can have the VP for $18,000, but we'll only give you $2000 for your $4000 car. Or, we'll give you Blue Book Value for it, but your car will be $19,500.

Negotiate each seperately, or sell it yourself. At that age of the car, you SHOULD sell it yourself, and make and extra $1500 or so over a dealer (reasonable, not the clown that offered $100)price.
  • pathosrisingpathosrising Member Posts: 42
They weren't really offering me 100 bux. The salesman was like "you're better off selling your car your own, because they're only offering 100 for the car" so after that it was completely one deal for the car. The trade in was just for laughs..

The main point is with holdback and whatnot, it was a decent price. 18 out the door for a car invoiced at 17,132. Especially considering that it was not only the end of the month but the end of the quarter.

Oh well, more money for me to roll around in naked.
  • tallman1tallman1 Member Posts: 1,874
I wonder if the people in the service dept. would give you that same line. A quick phone call would give you your answer.

Everything I've ever heard would make that policy very hard to believe.

    Bob -

I didn't do much better than you. Your best internet quote ($19,400) is exactly what I paid, except my deal included a trunk tray with a $100 retail value.

I would feel good about your $19,400 internet quote. However, keep in mind that the dealer will likely try and add various costs/fees once you get to the dealership.

    1) I purchased my vehicle at Superior Honda in Cincinnati, OH.
    2) There are no additional incentives, but they can definitely sell the car below invoice. Holdback alone on this car is about $700. Plus, the dealer gets $$ from doc fees, accessories on the car, financing, kickbacks for meeting sales targets, ect.
    3) The dealer is lying to you so you don't go somewhere else and get a better price. It's a scare tactic. Call American Honda, I'm sure they would tell you something very different than the dealer's BS.

One last point...buy at the end of the month, dealers will be begging you to buy from them. I dealt with several via email, but none were willing to match the price from Superior. However, by 3/30, I had three separate dealers come back and match the price I ultimately paid.

    Hi mattgg1:
Frustration is starting to settle in. Turns out that in addition to the $19,429 they want to charge $280 for dmv (they are in nj and i am in ny) and another $300 documentation fee. Salesman claimed the doc fee was non-negotiable and that everybody paid the same amount. I don't believe it.
When you add up the fees their price is not much different than the competition.
I might end up going to Cincinnati...unless a local dealer makes the right moves.
And yes, I just can't believe that a service department would turn away business. And I also don't believe that the dealer isn't getting more incentives than the holdback on '06 Accords.
    Thanks!

I'm looking to buy an Accord EX-L w/Navigation (4 cyl - auto) in the next few weeks. Since this is my first time car purchase & my knowledge on negotiation process is limited, it would be great if you could share your thoughts about this quote I got from a dealer in Tampa, FL

    24803 - (incl destination)
    1490 - (tax - 6% in FL)
    200 - (tag, title, registration & fees)
    Total Price - $26,500 (approx)

This price also includes, floor mats, pinstripe, wheel locks, door edge guards & one free oil change.

    Thank you for your comments.

It sounds pretty good to me, based on what I've seen. Enjoy your new car; you'll love it!

The DMV and Doc fees are definitely a ripoff.

Like you, I reside in a different state than where I bought the car. The dealer only charged me $15.50 for registration and temp Ohio tags. I will pay my home state $26 for permenant tags + sales tax within 30 days.

If I were you, I would ask for price quotes from 4-5 dealers in your area via the Internet. Take the lowest offer, email it to the other dealers you contacted, and ask if they can beat it. Then wait until the end of the month.

Around the 27th-28th of April, visit the most convenient dealer in person. Try and speak directly to the General Manager, and ask if he will beat your best offer. If he won't, go to the next dealer in person and repeat this step.

This is how I purchased my car and it worked great. I found that online negotiating will only get you so far. Internet Managers are not willing to give you rock bottom prices via email. However, if you show up in person and present yourself as a legitimate buyer, it will be hard for them to let you walk out.

Civic LX Coupe bought March 1st 2006, got a good deal, GREAT salesperson to deal with, service department has been GREAT with our first purchase 2000 Civic, think you must be the acception rather than the rule. Couldn't be a happier customer.

As you'll see only a few posts prior, I got the EX V6 w/ Navigation for $26500. I don't think you should pay this same price for the 4cyl version despite others thinking it's a good price. My research says you should offer $25K for the car plus DMV fees etc.. and stick to that. That's about $100 over invoice and they get the 3% holdback of MSRP from Honda (over $800). That would be a GREAT (but fair and competitive) price and you'll enjoy the car even more! I would. Good luck! :)

I have a '98 Accord EX-L 4 Cyl in very good condition with 122,000 miles on it. All maintenance is up to date, tires good, no physical damage, no tears in the interior, everything works, etc. What should I realistically get for this car if I try to sell it myself? I am starting to get "the itch" to buy a new Accord. Of course, everytime I clean my old one up, it looks so good and drives so well, I always back off for a while.

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,758
selling it yourself, about $5k if its a stick, and closer to $6k if its an automatic. I would "ask" $5495 or $6495, respectively.

I'm now looking at an 06 Accord LX- 4cyl automatic in Silver.

I'm getting a price of 19,098 before tax and tags. Delivery and other fees are included.

How does that sound to everyone?
  • chan101quachan101qua Member Posts: 26
It's depend on where you live, but I think you still have room to go down more. I bought my 06 Accord SE cheaper than that at the end of Febuary.
  • sbabusbabu Member Posts: 9
The price of $26500 is the overall cost (incl taxes, dmv etc).. The offer price of the car from the dealer alone is $24803. Wanted to have your comments on the quote that I received to see if there is any room for negotiation (or) this is the best offer to expect on a EX-L w/navigation. Thanks again for your comments.
  • philliplcphilliplc Member Posts: 136
i personally would look into what you could get an SE for. for less than $700 difference (invoice) you upgrade from 15" to 16" alloys, rear drums to 4W disc brakes with elec. brake distribution, single disc CD to 6 disc changer (plus more upscale trim if that's important). that's a lot of value for very little extra compared to the LX.
  • phisherphisher Member Posts: 175
Does this price include destination? If it doesn't, I think that you can do better closer to invoice.
  • sdeamesdeame Member Posts: 14
    The price does include destination.

    Here's the breakdown.
06 LX 4 door silve with automatic.
    18453 car
599 destination (they're calling it dealer fee and adding 50 bucks)
    40 tag agency fee
    6.50 battery/tire

    19098.50

+ tax and $225 for new tags. ">

Edmunds shows invoice to be 19298 with destination.
  • jmcmbzjmcmbz Member Posts: 43
In that case, $26500 actually does sound pretty good. Not sure what your taxes are. Incidentally, I'm selling a 2005 EX-L Navi, 4 cyl, Auto in Graphite used for $21500 asking price (hoping to get close to 21K). This is used with 25K miles so they do hold value quite well.
  • scs111scs111 Member Posts: 22
Sounds like a great price. Can you tell us what "fees" they charged? :confuse:
  • robcmoodyrobcmoody Member Posts: 2
I bought an EX V6 Sedan with Navi for 26850 yesterday. That does not include the all the fees which brought the total to 29512. I am not sure what your fees look like but a bit over 23k without the fees is about what you should pay for this.
  • econoboxjockeyeconoboxjockey Member Posts: 17
I purchased an '06 EX V6 sedan with the six-speed manual (no navi) for $25250 including delivery fee. Dealer is located on the Central California coast. Purchase date was last weekend of February.

It was the first 6-speed manual sedan the dealership had seen. I had been waiting to test drive one for a couple of months, but no dealer within 120 miles ever had one in.

The dealer was playing hard-to-get on the price, saying that the manual was "rare", but when I informed them I could get exactly the car I wanted through an internet buying service for a lot less than what they were talking about, they suddenly became a lot more reasonable. I could have saved an extra $150 by going through the online service, but I really wanted to keep my money local.

Internet pricing currently puts this car at just a hair under $25K. At this price, it's close to five grand cheaper than a comparable Camry, which offers no manual at any price, and about eight grand less than the very mechanically similar Acura TL.

I got an offer from a dealer for a 2006 Honda Accord EX Coupe w/ Nav, Wing Spoiler ($751), Front Under Body Spoiler ($517.40), Fog Lights ($571.30) & Ipod Music Link ($440.60) and that includes labor. Everything came to $34,379.20 (including tax, tire fee, title fee and doc fee.) but the dealer came down to $31,499.60 is that a decent deal considering all of the accessories on the vehicle? oh, yeah and I'm in Jersey. . .thanks!

We have FINALLY decided on exactly what we want and I am getting ready to send out an e-mail to several dealerships requesting quotes.

I want an Silver EX V6 auto w/ black leather (non-Nav). I want all weather floor mats, trunk tray, and mud guards.

When I send my e-mail to dealerships, I will tell them I want the price to include all fees including destination, doc fee, etc. The price should include every cost except TTL. I also plan to tell them that I expect the price to be below $24,500.

Is this $24,500 a good target to give the dealers, or do you think it is a little too low including the couple accessories I want?

I am not bitter or jealous. Oh wait, yes I am.

    Good deal... enjoy your car.
  • gilnashgilnash Member Posts: 19
That's a lot of $$$ for an Accord. You may be able to get an Acura TL for about the same amount.
  • silverpiloto5silverpiloto5 Member Posts: 23
Yes, It is a little low from what we have seen on this forum, buy why not try. Since 25152+- is invoice and there is still 3% holdback (750+-) and floorplan (say another $750-1% of invoice for each of the first three months- if they can order it and it does not sit) you might just find someone who is willing to make less to get a unit sale????
It can't hurt to try but be prepared for them to look at you like you have three eyes when you make the offer.
  • nbuyernbuyer Member Posts: 10
It was like $22,200 including destination, mudguard, sparsh guard and tank tray. In addition to it, they only charge docmentaion fee wich is about $55 (mandatory for IL state... not for all state)plus ttl. thats it.
One thing I learned never let them know that you are looking for only a particular color....that gives you more room to bargain.
  • jhinscjhinsc Member Posts: 399
Don't take the offer - that's a lot of dough. Look at Acura TL if you're spending that kind of money. You should be about $3,000 behind msrp. Don't go for all the accessories through the dealer - most of it is just markup and additional profit for the dealer. They don't add any monetary value to the car, if anything, they will make the car worth less in the future, especially the spoilers.

    I just got a OTD at 20,000 from a dealer (LA country,CA)
    invoice+dest = 18,934

    What do you think?

I decided to buy Accord since Civic is too expensive (only less than $2,000 difference with Accord(OTD:18,750).

I'm in Northern California and just got this internet quote of $23,717 before TTL, from a local dealer. Is this a good price? Please let me know your thoughts.

I am looking at 2006 accord EX-L 2.4L Sedan with navi. Is it possible to tell me which dealer you are working with?

    Thanks
  • mikesidmikesid Member Posts: 29
I thought i got a good deal but after seeing some of your posts i am starting to think maybe i didn't.

I got an 06 Accord, EX-L W/Nav. They were asking 32,800 (too much for it). I told them that my esisting 04 Accord Ex-L w/Nav is basically the same as the 06 except the console and body is a little different so why should i change? Plus they wanted me to pay around $495 a month. I told them that i was only paying $400 a month for my 04 and i needed to keep it in that range. Plus I wanted a DVD Ent in the rear for my son. they talked a little bit and came back with the car being $30,000 trade in for my car at $20,000 (I owed 14,800 on it) $1,500 out of pocket for me, they threw in the DVD ent and payment of $425 a month. After everything i financed $24,000. I am thinking maybe i didnt get a good deal.
  • mfletou1mfletou1 Member Posts: 508
    Just a note...

NEVER get into monthly payments until the very end of the process. Dealers will try to get you to negotiate around the monthly payment you want, which works out for them because it gives them many more opportunities to play around and keep profit.

Sounds to me you probably didn't get a particulary good deal, but...I'll defer to others.
