I am looking at a new 2005 Accord LX V6 Sedan, I was given a price of 19,700 over the phone, I will only buy a 2005 if I can get a fantastic deal, Not sure 19,700 is a fantastic deal, Any one have any recent experiences with a new 05 or thoughts on this price. I know the 06 LX V6 offer's much more however if the price is right!
    Thanks

Well, that seems about $3k under an '06 price from carsdirect, so it seems pretty good to me. Problem for me is that I think the '06 looks better. ;)

    $19700 for 05 LX-V6 is a good price, not a good deal.

    Why did I say that?

I can find a deal to sell me that same 06 car for around $2000 difference.
Does it mean that you are saving $2000? Not really, unless you really want to save that 2K.

For the year model difference, you are talking at least $1.5K loss even they are both at 4 miles on odometer.
Not to mention, 06 V6 comes with 17" wheel which make the car even sportier. The 06 tail looks great to me.

The 06 V6 is quieter and more powerful than 05 V6.
    Trust me, I own both 05 EX-V6 and 06 EX-V6.
    They drive SO differently.
Are they only 4HP difference (244 vs. 240)? NO, it feels more like 20hp to me.

Try it out before you make the decision.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,754
actually, its technically a bit more than the 4hp figure would dictate since the 244 is based on the new, stricter SAE system vs the 240 that was previously rated with the old system. So, you're right, it should feel like more than 4 hp.

    '11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S

Last month, I bought a '06 Accord EX 4-dr 4-cyl Auto Sedan for $700 under invoice from Milton-Martin Honda in Gainesville, GA. It's the 2nd Accord I've bought from Milton-Martin, and I have to say that those two purchases were the most pleasant car-buying experiences I've ever had. The people at Milton-Martin are extremely friendly, honest, and no-pressure...also, since they're located in a smaller city, they depend on repeat customers & word-of-mouth referrals for much of their business. I've dealt with a number of Honda dealers in the Atlanta area over the years, and they are the best. They will give you a straight-forward, bottom-line price via email and will honor it even if they don't currently have the specific vehicle you want in stock. I live about 1.5 miles from the Honda dealership next to Gwinnett Place Mall, but chose to do business with Milton-Martin, who are 20 miles from my home, because of the night-and-day difference in how these two dealerships treat their customers. I have also bought Accords & Odysseys from Hennessy Honda in Woodstock, and they are also a great dealership who are straight-forward, provide honest pricing via email, and who treat their customers right. If anyone in the Atlanta area is looking for a new Honda, I strongly recommend that they contact Milton-Martin or Hennessy...you won't regret it!

Should I buy it or wait for prices to fall.

The interest rate is high right now and seems going up.
The dealer told me that financing through American Honda rates of 6.29% - 12.39% (last month was 4.90%!)

I wonder if it is a good time to buy it now or probably better to buy it next month.

Thank you for any input. :)

Could you provide some more details on your Accord SE price quote?

Specifically, did you obtain this quote over the Internet or through a sales person on the lot? Does it include any misc. costs other than the $99 dealer fee? Who is the dealer?

I am in the market for the same vehicle and have been negotiating via the Internet with several area dealers. The absolute best deal I have found is: $19,859 + TTL. This price includes a Trunk Tray, All Weather Mats, Splash Guards and the doc fee.

So, if you figure the cost of my accessories is $200, my price is still about $500 over what you were quoted.

Once other dealers see the deal I mentioned above, they all say "sorry, can't beat that." Maybe it's a regional difference, as I'm in the Cincinnati area.

The two best price quotes were from Urse Honda in Clarksburg, WV and the Washington Honda location in Washington PA. Urse was invoice and Washhington was invoice plus $100. Washington has an internet contact. Go to their website and look up the link with all the sales contacts photos. One lady is the internet person. Email her. Urse did not seem to have an internet contact, so I just used a salesperson. Price ended up the same anyway.

It does seem like everyone who tries gets close to invoice now. Some models (mostly 4 cyl and LX versions) have another 500 incentive to the dealer. So, better deals can be made under invoice on certain models.

    Good Luck.

Where did you get the info. on $500 incentives on 4 cyl model Accords? The only incentive listed on Edmunds was for the LX V6.
  • gatorstevegatorsteve Member Posts: 5
I believe the invoice price was $21,478 (including destination). I don't remember the exact selling price I got, but is was about $700 less than this.
  • thebillthebill Member Posts: 194
700 off of invoice is an almost unbelieveable price. Congrats!
  • silverpiloto5silverpiloto5 Member Posts: 23
...buried on Edmunds TMV as I recall. I have not found a really accurate site for rebates/incentives (or at least let me say two sites that match each other), so I cannot be sure exactly what the DEALER incentives are. I doubt the dealer will tell you and the salesman usually does not have that kind of info.

You can try the Credit Unions for car loan. They are still giving 4.9% on 5 yrs. based the credit score.

Thanks for the info. I talked with a dealer about the price you mentioned. But he quickly pointed out it is for a manual. So would you let me know if it is an automatic or a manual? Thanks again.

I am looking to purchase a new honda EXL V6 sedan in Palm Beach County. The internet price from local dealers is around $24,500 plus a dealer's fee of $599 and tax, tags, and title. The base price seems high and the dealers' fees are ridiculous since they do not represent any real work on the part of the dealer. Has anyone in this area found a dealership that is willing to really bargain? No financing will be involved and most likely no trade-in. Any help would be appreciated.
  • thebillthebill Member Posts: 194
do you mean a EX-V6 or EXL?
  • desteldestel Member Posts: 4
It is the 6 cylinder EX model that comes with leather interior.
  • thebillthebill Member Posts: 194
Thats almost 700 below invoice. Be very sure that it includes destination.
  • desteldestel Member Posts: 4
How could that be? The invoice price listed is 24,568 and the MSRP is 27,300. Price includes destination but NOT the 599 dealer's fee.
  • hondachef2006hondachef2006 Member Posts: 15
Obtained over the internet, the dealer is Honda City in milwaukee. Tell them to beat the deal and don't let the sales staff control you , put on a MAJOR Seen and get noticed by everyone and they will definitaly drop the price just to get you out the door. Do it!!!

It works for me every time!!
  • thebillthebill Member Posts: 194
invoice is 25118 AFTER destination. there is no gettingaround destination. MSRP after destination is 27850.

Your prices did not include destination, therefore, they were $550 lower.
  • desteldestel Member Posts: 4
Actually the price of 24,472 did include the destination fee which would put the car about 650 below the invoice, BUT they now want to tack on a dealer's fee of 599 which really puts the car at just about invoice price. First, no one has really given me a good explanation of their dealer's fee without a lot of tap dancing around the issue. Second, I know that Honda has about a 2% holdback so they are not paying the invoice price anyway. I am not sure what other incentives they may be receiving for this car. Supposedly they are having a big March sale in this area but the prices are the same as they were a month ago.
  • silverpiloto5silverpiloto5 Member Posts: 23
destel They can call it dealer's fee (or anything for that matter). What it boils down to is your final price. I just bought the same car for invoice (about 25118 with destination). So, you really have the same deal. They could have just told you invoice and left out that silly dealers fee. Maybe calling it a dealer's fee gives them some perceived advantage during negotiation. Maybe they INSIST it is non-negotiable, but it adds to their bottom line just like a higher price would. Invoice is a good price in my area. Just ask some other local dealers for their best INTERNET price and see what you market pricing is.

    :cry::cry: :surprise:

Uhhh, do you really want to do that? This tactic is more and more not being tolerated in ANY place of business, whether it's a car dealership or retail store or whatever. All it demonstrates is that you've lost control and you will rant and scream until you get your way. If you can't rationally state that if a price is not met or beat or you will take your business elsewhere, then you're not serious about actually walking away from a "bad" deal.
  • torr310torr310 Member Posts: 41
Hello, nbuyer. Could you be more specific on how to do that? Because I am new on this and know nothing about Credit Unions.

Do I need to join them and which one is better?

    Thank you! :)

Got it for $600 Under Invoice. $24303 including destination but not including document fee ($99) or taxes.
I am astounded by the quality and advanced electronics in this Car. Still pricey, with quirks but overall happy.
Any comments on the price? Did I fare well?

Whenever a customer throws a hissy fit in the showroom, our GSM will actually go down and very politely explain. "Sir, you either calm down and lower your voice, or you can leave the property. If you continue this behavior, I will call the police."

We have had the police show up and the customers in the showroom get a good laugh as you are leaving the building.

Get the price you want, demand the dealership to work for you. Having the police show up will scare people off and have customers go elsewhere. If you have to keep coming back and repeating the process, do it. I have found being firm and direct is the best process and nothing less gets me the price of $19300.00 for a 2006 Honda Accord SE 4-dr. Auto.
  • dgoldb1dgoldb1 Member Posts: 11
Is the $19300 figure with destination charges?

This is the best I have managed to get...

    Accord LX SE: $19062
    Destination: $550
    Tax: $980
    Tags/Title: $196

    Total: $20788

What do you guys think? Good deal? When I get there I think I am going to negotiate a rear deck lid spoiler.

I purchased a Pilot from this dealer less than 2 years ago. So I called the same salesman and told him we wanted an 06 LX 4cyl Accord auto and we only wanted to spend 17k (yes, I know I am crazy, but can't get mad at me for trying).
So he said we can't deal on the phone, I would have to go there in person. Why do they want me there in person?? I told him what I want to spend, can they do it or not?

So I told him I could get a 06 Camry LE for 17k (rebates).

Why do they need me to be there in person? So they can get me there and make me stay till I agree to their price?

He told me "presence is power". Really??
  • tallman1tallman1 Member Posts: 1,874
That must be with an automatic. I'm looking at the same thing but really want the 5 spd. They'll have to come at less than your price if they want me to buy an automatic.

    Hi rajd1974,

I'm also in the market for the same vehicle. Could you tell me which area you are from and the dealer info ? Thanks
  • thebillthebill Member Posts: 194
Again, we will all laugh as the person exits stage left and possibly even offer a standing ovation.

  • phisherphisher Member Posts: 175
Another option for you is to call the dealership and ask them what interest rate they can get for you. I have a great credit score and the dealership was able to beat any internet rate or credit breau. I ended up with about a 3.3% for 48 months the only thing was that I had to finance $10000 for 48 months to get this rate on our CRV. This seems like a long time to me and is more than I wanted to finance but there is no penalty to pay this in one year instead of four. Just ask the dealership after you check around, after all it's in there best interest to make the $ off your interest.
  • phisherphisher Member Posts: 175
Did you ever think that you kept getting the price of 19300 because the sales people remembered you and thought why deal with a person that acts like a child. I have bought a number of car through sales people, gotten great deals and maintained a sense of professionalism. What would you think if someone came in and pulled this behavior in your place of business.
  • mattgg1mattgg1 Member Posts: 191

Does this dealer not charge a "doc" fee? It's unusual for a dealer to not charge some type of documentation or processing fee.

Anyway, this deal is very close to the price I have negotiated:

Accord LX SE Auto with Trunk Tray
    $19,500 (included destination)
    $100 doc fee

The price of the car is $19,600 with a trunk tray. I am somewhat optimistic that I can knock at least $100 off that price or have more accessories thrown in.

Believe me, when the police show up at a car dealership, people aren't thinking they need to avoid shopping there. The customer's present WILL applaud as you are leaving, and especially if the word gets out what happened, the next time a cop shows up, people will think another "bozo idiot" has lost it. :P

    Matt,

Here is my break down for the Accord Special Edition...

    Car: $19462
    Tax: $950
    Tag/Title: $200

    $20,612.25

I wonder what options I should haggle for...any suggestions?
  • torr310torr310 Member Posts: 41
    Thank you very much, phisher

I did ask the dealers, but both of them told me that the interest rates are both over 6% for the first tier. :(

My Experian PLUS score is about 745 but I have only been working for four months.
