Dealers in GA are allowed to charge upto $699. They want to compete with attorney on fee.
Beware of Carsdirect, they ask you for non-refunable deposit. I found out that many dealers beat their price.
To buy car thru Cardierect we have to do your own test drive from some unsuspected dealer . Because if you agree to buy the car, you test drive at their recommened dealer and you don like the car -> BAD LUCK, they do not give refund.
DO NOT BUY CAr thru CARSDIRECT (cardie-rect). Don't you feel guilty to test drive a car at a dealer (not associated with Cardie-rect) with no intention to buy the car from that dealer!
If you've recently purchased a 2006 Accord Sedan Ex-L w/o navigation, auto-trans, I'd be interested in knowing price and if you would recommend the dealer. Am seeing ranges in other parts of the country from $21,678 before fees to 23,300, but not sure how they compare with this region.
I just contacted a salesperson through the e-mails and a call. That price is the first price he suggested. I think you can cut the price if you are willing to negotiate the price. Would you let me know your result of negotiation?
You know that I'm a foreigner. If you succeed, I think I can buy your price. Thanks.
The new Camry is starting to trickle into Toyota dealers this week. Wait a couple of weeks and Honda will undoubtedly be giving great deals to lure the crowds away from Toyota. The new Camry gives Accord buyers tremendous leverage with dealers.
I test drove a black EX V6 w/ navi, but don't recall seeing many more black cars on the lot. Mine is carbon bronze w/ black leather int. Nice combination if anyone out there is considering it. Initially I thought the carbon bronze might look better with ivory int. But once I saw the ivory in person I changed my mind right away. I wasn't crazy about the multi-colored look with ivory leather--some ivory, taupe, black, and then the faux wood trim that I personally have never liked.
Anyway, back to exterior colors...I saw a lot of carbon bronze and graphite, some blue, some red, some silver. Not a lot of black. But the good news is as long as you can be patient, shop for the right deal and let the dealer order it for you. Might be worth it to wait a few weeks to get exactly what you want!
Since I have used Edmunds for months to help me purchase a car, I felt obligated to post my experience.
I was in the need of a replacement for my 1994 Accord EX with 170k on it. It was in good shape all around, some stains, some scrapes and needed brakes. I thought I wanted a Civic, but after the test drive I thought it was too small, not worth the hype and my old Accord had more power than it dd.
I really didn’t want to spend any real money for a work car and I wanted a Honda Accord, so that’s how I stumbled onto the Value Package. Here’s the skinny, you have just a choice of four colors, black window trim, no alarm, a single CD player, two speakers but it sound like more, losing some courtesy light, manual window adjustment, manual seat adjustment, no time interval wipers and if you leave your lights on you the battery will go dead like the old days- oh and you don’t think this crap is worth $2000, than a VP is for you! I thought once this was the DX package with the air-conditioning.
I started hunting on the web with the Internet Consultants. Planet Honda and David Michael were not competitive at all. The internet sales team at Academy seemed competitive with a 17,200 including destination on the car with no trade. But the offer said on with INSTOCK cars which was just white.
I first went to Academy where I bought my 2003 EX V6 with leather. I noticed the sales people didn’t seem knowledgeable. I felt I knew more about the car! They offered me very little on my trade in, but they gave me about invoice: $17,500 including destination plus $500 for trade in. They didn’t bother checking out my car and just gave me a throw away price. They didn’t want to go lower when I asked if they could do it for 16,000 with trade, the salesman said no with no counter-offer. The Internet team seemed unresponsive when I emailed them about the original offer.
I should’ve search for Kay Honda on the Edmund’s originally, because many people said good things about them. At first I was apprehensive because they would never commit to a price over the phone or email me. The salesman kept telling me he’s beat all the other prices. . When I brought my wife in, the salesman went to his manager after thoroughly checking out my car and the manger saw us.
They had a Dessert Mist on the lot, but had 59 miles. He went down the street and found the same on with 29 miles on it He asked for $17363 including destination and topped it off with $1000 trade credit. When I asked him about a coupon from a class action lawsuit against Academy he honored it and took off $150.00. Also, this was all a cash deal, so no money was going to be made in finance. He was also $25.00 cheaper for a Tag charge than Academy. I thought to ask for anything else would be unreasonable. Price $16213 with trade then $987 tax, 7.50 tires, $129 document fee, 25 tag fee. Door and mud guards $100 on the Internet.
The finance guy didn’t really push everything. I let him make is presentation about the lojack, the etching (a joke), the extended warranty, then I said no and he printed out the bill. No games at all, on lease pitch either. They were all very nice. The car had to be re-cleaned I have an issue with the finish on a door handle. I will assume they will take care of my handle with no issues. Finding a cigarette but under my seat was a little disheartening.
I hope this help anyone who didn’t think they could afford a new Accord!
I was looking for the black color too. Don't know why, but it seems like dealers don't have that many black accord in stock. Anyhow, I got my black accord SE now .
BTW, black color make the new car look slick and powerful. However, be warned that black is a very visible color. If the car is dirty, or get ding / scratch later on, those imperfection will be very visible too.
I am not so sure, you can buy a new Honda Accord LX AT 4cyl at a MA dealer for 17,888 which includes destination fee. This deal was run in the local paper over the past weekend(Mar4-5). I also think the new Honda Civic is cutting into the Accord sales.
The V6 coupe with a 6-speed manual has larger tires and a stiffer suspension set up. The new 6-speed sedan might too. Mine is a 2005 coupe and i didn't have a coupe/sedan choice then. I like the looks of the coupe better myself - everyone says you take a bath on resale but i haven't seen it - and I enjoy having a car that looks different from all the accord sedans you see out there.
I got a great deal on this car. I paid well below invoice. The price I got was $25,548 from Honda Village in Newton. They also added 3 free oil changes. I used the internet for all my negotiations. I let each dealer I contacted know what the others had quoted, and they kept lowering their offers until they couldn't or wouldn't go any lower. I got the same $ amount offer from Herb Chambers Honda in Boston but without the free oil changes. Of course Honda Village tried to make up the cash with warranties and accessories, but I didn't buy any. The accessories that I plan to get, will be purchased from handa-accessories.com and after I have them installed at another dealership will save me at least $600 over the dealership price of $1700 installed for the ones I want. They did try to use some deceptive practices in attempting to sell me a warranty, but fortunately I figured it out. They almost got me though. They were showing me a way that I could get the warranty and pay less per month, but they weren't calculating the number they were comparing it to correctly. They offered to lower my interest rate a little less than 1% if I bought a warranty. They tried to make it look like I would be paying $5 less a month, when it really would be $8 more per month. Fortunately I knew it didn't add up and make sense. If I wasn't already getting such a good deal, I may have backed out. But either way all in all I am pretty happy with the price.
The first digit of the VIN # identifies where it was made. If it is a 1 or 2 it is made in the US. If it starts with a 3 it was made in Mexico. 4 means Canada. J is Japan. W is Germany. S is England. I think Z is Italy. K is Korea.
I just leased my Accord ex v6 with the selling price of 25,000. Although i know your not supposed to have a large downpayment i put one so i could lower the payments since i am a college student. The monthly payment is 175 a month including a spoiler they are installing. I put down 5706 on it. I live in ohio so i know they tax on the downpayment and that 5800 includes all the taxes, and the security deposit. I thought it was a pretty good deal.
shopping the lx in houston texas and the telephone quotes have been higher than either camry or altima comparable equipped w/airbags? nothing quoted on honda otd drive-out less than about 20,700 ? sound too high?
Don't know if you are still checking the board, but if you have any info on interest rates from Anderson, that would be great. Also, how closely did they look at your trade-in? Did they do an in-depth inspection or just glance over it? I've go some dings and just wondering if it is worth doing some touch up. Thanks
Since you had $5000 cash lying around, why didn't you put it in the bank, earn interest and use that to subsidize the monthly payments instead? You will lose the money now if the car is totalled next week.
I agree, that wasn't a smart move to put that much money down. You could have put it into a savings account and use it to supplement your payments over the course of the lease. Did you do it possibly to help qualify for student aid since you wouldn't have so much cash lying around? :confuse:
Yes i do not want a lot of cash lying around. I understand the risk of totalling it but for me this is my ideal situation. I only have a 175 monthly payment. This is perfect for a college student with a job. I dont have to worry about 2 years down the road not being able to afford a monthly payment.
Better to solicit answers about low rates from someone else. I have some scars on my credit that have not fully healed yet so my rate, while fair, is not competitive.
As for the trade, 2 guys took my car for a spin around the block. When they returned they eyeballed the exterior. Took about 10 minutes altogether, I think.
FYI, my car was a 98 Civic EX sedan with 160K mi. Tires less than 6 months old, recently detailed, with a small ding in the rear bumper, a scrape (paint rub) and dent on the rear driver's side door, and some paint chipped off here and there. I also had a few burn holes in the front seats (I smoke occassionaly. Not in my new car though!)
I guess this depends on how bad your dings are compared to what I just described on mine, but in my opinion I would say not to bother getting them touched up. Furthermore, I spent $200 getting my car detailed 2 weeks before I sold it. I wish I hadn't. Yes, it looked a lot better and made a better impression especially considering they got the smoke smell out, but in hindsight I think I could have gotten the same outcome if I had just given it a thorough cleaning.
For what it's worth I basically got KBB trade-in value for a car with such high mileage. I was happy with that. They asked me what I wanted for it and I told them $2500, which they agreed to. (I had gotten prior offers from CarMax--$2K, and another dealer--$1500). Before closing the deal I called back and told them another dealer offered to match their trade offer and in so doing beat their OTD price by $500. If they could come up with another $500 somewhere I might be ready to buy. They upped the trade offer to $3K. I may have done a bit better but I'm satisfied with what I got. (By the way, I told a little white lie about the other dealer matching the trade. I received no such offer.)
Maybe more than you needed to know but I hope it helps!
I am in the market for Accord V6 EX. The best price I have received so far is $27K drive out, with window tint. The break up is as follows: Price with Dest. Charge: $25,042 Window Tint: $ 145 Sales Tax (@ 6.25%, TX) $ 1,575 Inventory Tax (@ 0.23%) $ 58 Document & Other Fee: $ 55 Title & Tag: $ 125 TOTAL DRIVE OUT PRICE: $27,000
I would appreciate feedback on: How competitive is this price? Has anyone seen better price? Is Inventory Tax a reasonable item?
The quote is from Gillman Honda of Fort Bend in metro Houston area. Has anyone had any experience (good or bad) with this dealership? So far the Internet sales person has been pretty decent and reasonable -- no trying to up sell unnecessary options and accessories.
When I bought my car, I bought an extended warranty of 6yrs/100,000miles, $100 deductible. New accords usually come with the 3/36000 & 5/60000 warranty, right? So, now that I have the extended warranty with $100 deductible does it mean that everytime I go to get something fixed I have to pay $100 or does this start after the original warranty with car expires?
..."or does this start after the original warranty with car expires?"...
Short answer, your above quote, your latter option !!!
There is SO much over lap that if you take the oem warranty in account, really you are NOT paying for a 6 year 100,000 extended warranty with a 100 deductible.
You are really paying for a (minus -)OEM warranty of 3 year/36,000 and/or 5 year 60,000=
3 year/64,000
and/or
1 year 40,000 mile warranty.
(does this make sense graphically?)
So you would pay the 100 deductible EVERY TIME you invoke it during the ENTIRE time frame. I don't see why you would while UNDER the oem warranty. So you would pay the 100 deductible when the oem warranty is no longer in effect.
Does this not putting a lot of money down only apply to leasing? What about purchasing a new car?
Generally, it only applies to leasing. Think of leasing as renting a car. Why would you put down a lot of money to rent something? That down payment effectively become non-refundable if you have an accident severe enough to total the car or if it's stolen when it's fairly new. The insurance company will not pay you retail value of the car so you can get you money back, they pay wholesale. Yes, the down payment would lower your payments, but your total out of pocket cost over the life of the lease is the same. You can put the down payment in the bank and use it to help subsidize your payments.
When purchasing, you can do it one of two ways. With a low APR, you can put little down and have higher payments. With a higher APR, it makes sense to put more down and not pay the interest. Less down, and you could effectively be "upside-down" as soon as you pull off the dealer lot.
To resolve the problem of owing more than the value of the car with either a lease or purchase, you can buy GAP insurance. Many leases have this included. When I got my 06 Accord, the dealer tried to sell me their GAP policy for $499. I said no thanks, and then called my insurance agent and had it added to my auto policy for $13 year. :shades:
Yeah, it makes sense. I thought about the same thing while I was purchasing the car. It was late at night and I was tired of going back and forth....
I went back to the dealership and they said that none of their warranties are $0 deductible. And I would have to resign the whole contract to have the extended warranty taken out.
I got a quote for EX-V6 with navi for $27,500 OTD. (including VA tax of 3%) from a MD dealer but they are a little far. This price also inludes appearance pkg, truck tray and all weather floor mats...
Visited another dealer in N. Va and they will not match the price and wanting $27,700 instead. Am I being unrealistic or the VA dealer is trying to rip a little more seeing my home address is local?
Would like to hear your experiences whether it is successful or fail (ripped)..
The MSRP is $29850. A Boston area dealer is quoting me $28000. They charge an additional $229 for an inspection sticker and doc fees. Also, an additional $5-699 for a remote starter. How is an $1850 discount???? Taxes are not included. Can anyone suggest a dealer in eastern Massachusetts? I have never purchased a Honda and am not familiar with dealers who provide quality service and pricing.

You should be able to get another $1,000 off, according to carsdirect's website. They're quoting $29850 msrp, $26914 invoice, and selling price of $27014 using a Boston zip code. That should be your highest price to pay. You may be able to go a little lower, but not by much. This does not include the remote starter or other add-on's.:)
I also purchased a Honda Accord Coupe EX w/ leather from Sport Honda (Silver Spring, MD), and it was an excellent experience. Received an immediate price quote from their Internet team on a car identified in their online inventory, test drove several cars at my leisure the following weekend, selected and purchased the car, and drove out. Sport Honda was honorable and straightforward, and it was an extremely pleasant transaction.
Base price (black leather interior; black exterior) Accord Coupe EX-L w/ wheel locks and pinstriping (very cool) was $21619, Processing $49, 2-yr VA tags $108, Destination $550, 3% VA Sales Tax $662. Out the door price was $22988.
Bill Page Honda (Falls Church, VA) offered the same car at $700 more out-the-door; College Park (MD) Honda price was $1000 more.
Thanks for sharing your dealer experience. I live in No. Va too and want to purchase in the next month or so. I'm not sure which dealer to deal with. Bill Page is the closest too me but it's good to know that there might be better pricing out there and good service to boot!
Is it at a Honda Dealership? If so, I would inquire into why it wasnt certified. Honda Certified Used Vehicles are the best pre-owned around. With a 12/12 limited warranty and 7/100 powertrain you cant get a better vehicle.
not a horrible price... but as the above message might indicate ... only if its certified. It may be just 1 year old, but there are only 6k miles left on the factory warranty.
'11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S
It is not at a Honda Dealership. It is at a just tytical used car dealership. As the above message mentioned, it has only 6k miles left on the factory warranty and that's it. You guys think it is overpriced?
welll... its a toughie. See, Hondas just hold their value so darned well. BUT, in my personal opinion, I'm looking at that car and thinking "at 30k miles, its already used up 2 years of its life." So... the question then becomes, how much do I want to save for each year? Seeing as how I can get a new (and, in my opinion, better looking) '06 WITH a better warranty (now 5yr/60k) for $27k ... I think I'd be looking to get maybe $3k off per year. So $21k sounds about right. Like I said, the price isn't horrible. But why not search for a certified one ... I'd then go near $22k.
'11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S

Good luck with your new car. Sounds like one I've been looking for.
