I am currently looking at a 2004 Accord LX on autotrader that has 16,805 miles and listed at $16,995. I was planning on going to the dealership today, but was hoping for some advice on the price of the vehicle. What price should I come up with to bargain with? link title - Autotrader 2004 LX
Zxilon - is that what they're calling it now? These products have been around for years in various forms and promises.
Re: the extended warranty, manufacturer and dealer warranties are notoriously expensive and thus profitable for the dealer. You can save 60% and get equivalent coverage from reputable companies after you buy your car.
"What price should I come up with to bargain with?"
I strongly advise you NOT to go with this one. A new 2005 Accord LX can be had for under $18,000 (or very close to this price. Why buy an 04 with almost 17k miles on it?
Buying a 1-3 year-old Accord is not a smart thing to do because the price difference between their selling prices and those of a brand new model is (usually) not that significant. These dealers make tons of money selling used cars, and are really greedy smart at it.
You can easily point out to the seller if the price is too close to a new one and negotiate a price that makes sense. If you can buy a new one with the same equipment for close to the same price the seller is asking, obviosuly the seller is asking too much and will need to lower the price to find a buyer.
If you don't mind, what did you pay for their "Documentation Fee"? I Received a decent quote then they tacked a $298 doc fee which seemed excessive (and of course got the standard 'everyone pays that' line.)
That sounds like a great deal. I live right by Anderson and was thinking of buying my car there. Did you get an online quote first, or deal with a salesperson? Were you able to get any good deals on financing? Thanks.
Hello Carwala Did you buy the car from Planet Honda??? I am thinking about making the trip (about 75 moles one way) to also purchase an Accord LX SE 5A from them. The price seems to good to believe. I would like to know your experiences with this dealer. Thanks kodachrome56
I spent a few days getting email quotes before going into a dealer. My first visit was to O'Donnell in Ellicott City. O'Donnell, thru their participation with the AAA buying program, was offering $450 below invoice right off the bat. Anderson's email quote basically matched that (with no prior mention from me of AAA or the offer from O'Donnell), plus offered some extras without asking.
The deciding factors for me: 1. Anderson gave me a much better offer on my trade (2X more than O'Donnell and $1K more than CarMax), 2. Anderson had the exact car I wanted (color, etc.) on the lot. I would have had to wait at least 3 weeks on a car from O'Donnell. Not that that is such a terrible thing, mind you. But after driving it once it was nice to be able to drive it away without waiting! The sales guy who I met first in email, and then in the store, was easy to work with, professional, and made the experience very hassle-free.
Re: Financing. I went in with pre-approved financing. I ended up financing thru the dealer at a rate 1.5 points lower than my pre-approved rate.
Good luck to you and let me know if you have any more Q's.
Hi Great price on that SE!!!! I am in the market for the same car here in New York. Did the price included the $550 dest charge???? Where their any other charges at the contract signing? Thanks in advance Kodachrome56
I am in the market to purchase a Honda Accord (EX V6, Auto, Nav, gray) and would like to know if the dealer does not have one what their process would be to get one from the factory for example: does the dealer rely on what Honda sends them or can they ask the factory for a specific one that has been built? and the length of time to receive it.....Thanks.
A Honda dealer in Central Florida special ordered my 2006 Accord EX for me. I ordered it in early November, the car was built in Marysville, OH, and the Accord arrived at the Florida dealership in about 23 days. Before the dealer placed the order, they did attempt to find the specific Accord that I had wanted at other Honda dealerships in my area, but none were available.
Thanks for the response! I see and thought they could be ordered from the factory. So based upon your experience a rule of thumb would be a month or so until delivered.... good deal!
We are also looking for a Honda Accord in Baltimore and would welcome hearing details - including best deals and any other recent positive or negative experiences - about local dealers in Baltimore. Thanks
First of all, I'm a foreiner and living in Raleigh, NC. Because I don't have any credit, I have to buy a car with cash. Unless, the present value amount of money is way too high. Salesmans here already know that I'll pay for it with cash.
The best offer I got ever is $25,233. But I know most Americans buy it below invoice. I remember that the best offer I saw here is around $24,500. I don't know if I can get that kind of achievement here.
If you were me, what do you do? Do I have to go to the big city? I have aquaintance in Philadelphia and New York. Is it good idea? Flying there and coming back with a new car?
I'd say that 25,233 is very fair. That's just slightly over invoice and this is a rare car. Offers of 24,500 are extremely low, and probably have some profit elsewhere like documentary fees. Even if 24,500 is legit, do you really want to fly somewhere and then drive back down the east coast for 700. Plus I guarantee that license and title will be far more hassle. Plus what do you do if the dealer doesn't complete the deal for some reason, or if the car has a dent in it. Not worth the hassle for what is probably less than $700. It's a great car at a very fair price.
I agree that is a fair price as long as it is an out the door price. A dealer does not care if you pay cash or finance as a matter of fact if it were one way or the other you may possibly get a better price if you finance however without any credit you are better off payig cash. Which dealer offered you that price?
I don't think they really build the car to order. I have heard the dealer can just put in an "order" to have the next car equipped and colored the way you want (that they were going to eventually build anyway) sent to them as opposed to some other dealership it may have gone to.
My advise would be to finance a small portion of it.
put about 75%down and finance the rest to get your credit started. no bank would refuse a deal with 75% down. Then keep some of your hard earned money in your pocket.
Paid $19,000 with destination, mud guards, wheel locks, pin stripes INCLUDED. OTD price was $20,250 (5% tax, TTL and processing fee) Took financing offer 4.9% for 60 months. Got a Graphite Pearl color by the way. Hope this helps. Any comments?
If you happen to have AAA start on their site and follow the links to see local dealers who participate in the buying program. I solicited quotes from 2 dealers who do: O'Donnell in Ellicott City, and Honda of Bowie. Never visited Bowie...was turned off by their "best offer" via email and the shuck-and-jive personality that I spoke to on the phone. O'Donnell was fair and generally a pleasant experience. I also got a fair email quote from Brown's Honda City in Glen Burnie. I ended up buying from Anderson Honda in Baltimore (see my previous posts, s'il vous plait). Good all-around experience, and they offered me a great price (and fair trade offer) with no affiliation with AAA.
Negative: My home town dealer, Heritage of Westminster, would not even talk to me when I told them I had a quote for $450 below invoice. I think the guy really believed I would automatically buy from him simply because I had been in there twice before to test drive. Oh well!
I got a different trim package than what you're looking for, but I'd bet you could get a similar deal on yours. IMO you should try for around $500 below invoice.
TMV what other are paying is about $21,607 in the 01701 area code. Boch quoted $19,900, plus $298 doc fee. Not including plates and tax. Can I possibly get $19k on this? What can I bargain down to possibly?
Have just got an Accord SE for 20800 OTD. It's 189xx before 8.25% tax + fee. I could get the OTD price down $100 more, but I was in a hurry to get it, so decided to walk over that. If you want the same deal, send me a message and I'll pass the internet manager's phone number to you.
You may include the dealership name, city and state in your post. Please do not post names of salespeople, telephone numbers, email addresses, or other contact information.
...I could get the OTD price down $100 more, but I was in a hurry to get it,...
Just curious, why does everyone think they could have gotten a another $100 or $200 off but didn't? How do they know they could have done better? Did the dealer say they could, but the buyer said 'no thanks'? :confuse:
Because I did my homework . I got that price, and I'm pretty sure the other dealer will match it or beat it. Technically, if you buy that car as 20500, the dealer still make some profit (not much). Anyway, 20800 is low enough for me, and I'm happy with the deal .
Not sure this is the best place to ask this - but that never stopped me before.
Are the Accord coupe and sedan the same car (except for the doors!) - I went to a Honda dealer today and they had 75 v6 sedans but not one V6 coupe - so I drove the sedan - it was nice - the wife liked the ride - handling was a little soft. If the coupe has a little stiffer set up it would be just about right.
