Okay, I have e-mailed about a dozen dealers back and forwards for the last couple days. I am asking for quote including all fees except tax, tile, and liscense for the following vehicle:

Silver 2006 Accord Sedan EX V6 w/ black leather. I want the following accessories included: all weather floor mats, trunk tray, and mud guards.

The best price I have received so far is $24, 800. I figure this is about $24,500 for the car and $300 for the accessories.

What does everyone think of this price? I am ready to pull the trigger but wanted to get a feel from forum on this price.

Thank you, this is a great forum.

I will be paying for the car alone 24,300 Honda EX v6 4 door. With taxes, etc. it will be 26k

Can someone recommend a color...black, silver, or carbon bronze? I can't really decide and I know has told me not to buy black.
  • msisengmsiseng Member Posts: 369
You can get the car for $24,250 without the accessories. That's what I was offered without Navi, but could not resist that great navi/XM radio system! Regular floor mats are standard on the EX. The Trunk Tray and Mud Guards are not standard, but some dealers include them anyway. With accessories you should buy the car for $24, 650. That is a fair price.

Silver may yield a lower price since it is not the most popular color anymore.
  • msisengmsiseng Member Posts: 369
I love the red and the blue. You can only get the blue on the EX and it is awesome. Silver is not big anymore and sells for less money. Carbon Bronze is not my thing, but is very popular this year.
  • msisengmsiseng Member Posts: 369
XM is trying to lower acquisition costs to boost their stock price. They offered me one more free month if I bought a unit for my house, but that's it.
  • dvricedvrice Member Posts: 75
I just drove home a new Accord. I bought the Silver Accord Sedan EX V6 auto with all weather mats, trunk tray, and mud guards for $24,800 + TTL.

I sent e-mails to over a dozen dealers to start the process, then made follow up phone calls to four dealers to negotiate my final price.

It sounds like I may have been able to squeeze another $150 out of them, but the dealer swore he wass only making $350 on the sale. Two other dealers flat out said they did not believe a dealer would sell me the car for that price.

All in all I am happy with the car and I think I got a good price especially for my smaller market (West Virginia).

A big thank you to this forum as it was extremely helpful in determining a target price.
  • msisengmsiseng Member Posts: 369
Good for you! Be happy with that price. Now other consumers can use your price as a benchmark and dealers can curse you for posting it. They do read these boards to get competitive intelligence information...

Smaller markets are more difficult to work and you bought in the middle of the month so more kudos to you!

I believe Bill Page is no longer Bill Page. It is now Honda of Tysons Corner...

    Here's my take...

Black: If you live where it doesn't rain a whole lot and you don't mind washing it often, it looks great. You need to be careful about what you use to wash it so that you can minimize swirl marks (same for any dark color). Check out Griot's Garage for excellent products.

Carbon Bronze: I like this color but not with the ivory interior... too hard to keep clean. It also comes in black. To me, it looks like dark grey on cloudy days but you can see the brown tones when the sun is out.

Silver: There are a lot on the road so you won't be as unique. I love the color and am happy to be driving a silver car again. I live in the Pacific NW so it is a great color for around here with the rain.... it hides the dirt well.

If you are looking for the best price, keep your options open and take the one that is the cheapest. If you aren't set on a particular color, you have more leverage.
  • dvricedvrice Member Posts: 75
As far as color, We knew we wanted the black leather interior, so that limited our color options to blue, carbon bronze, or silver. My wife didn't like the blue and I didn't like the carbon bronze, so our choice was easy.

I agree a black car probably looks the best just after being washed, but I think silver or white hides dirt better so you don't have to wash it as often.

The 6 is $2200 more than the 4. I could be happy with the 4 but know that you get quite a bit more features with the 6 cyl. Can people advise what kind of gas mileage they are getting with the 4 cyl and 6 cyl? That may help me with my decision.

I'm going to pull the trigger today.
I just got quoted the otd price of 20646.90 for the LX SE (auto)
    18879
    550 dest.
    973.90 tax
    195 tags
I'm sure I could put up enough fuss to get it down a little bit lower.
But the guy i've been working with has been very helpful.
I'd rather give him my business than some of the other jerks i've been talking to and emailing in the last few days.
I'll let you guys know what happens.

There's a thread here that discusses mileage in the real world, you might want to read through those messages. And I know TheGraduate will want to open up the mileage issue here too! ;)

I have the manual 4 and I'm getting 33-34 after about four tanks. I'm in western Washington so it ain't flat. This is mixed driving with a fair amount of freeway driving but stop and go traffic congestion as well.

After months of playing around with the idea, I finally bought an 06 Accord EX-V6 auto. I was 90% settled on the 4 but I got a good deal on the 6 so I went for it. $26,294.34 out the door (with a new tag). I'm probably going to slap myself for splurging for the V6 tomorrow morning but I'm loving it so far :) Thanks to all of you who helped me in this process, especially TheGraduate! I'm finally going to retire my 96 saturn with 222K miles on it!! Thanks guys!

I drive mixed daily (6 miles interstate, 9 miles in town w/14 stop signs/redlights) and average 29.5 MPG in my EX I4. On trips, I average 36 MPG at 75-80MPH and have gotten as high as 40 MPG with no A/C going and a light load in flat roads.

    What color did you get?

Carbon Bronze w/black leather interior. LOVE that color

Congrats on the purchase. I too am looking in the Orlando area. What dealership did you use and what was your experience with them? Did you use the internet manager or a floor salesman? Can you give us the breakdown on your purchase( price, tax, tags, add on's etc). Thanks for your help. JP
  • sammymsammym Member Posts: 19
I bought the car from Coggin Honda on OBT. Went through one of the internet sales managers who was really good. I first approahed him 5 weeks ago for test drives. Initially, I sent out a bunch of emails to local dealers and got similar competing quotes, but since Coggin was closest to my house, I chose them (and that I liked the guy I was working with). I'll have to look at my sales order but i know I paid $226 for a new tag (unused portion refunded by state), and abotu $1500 in tax. Coggin charges you a $599 dealer fee which includes paperwork for title/registration (can't be more than $80-$100 for that), however, when I inquired as to what the charge was far, the guy was straight up and told me that it was added profit for the dealer-call me stupid but i was almost ok with that fee since he was honest about it. Besides, I was going by the OTD price and didn't care much about what the breakdown was.

According to my calculations, the current price including tax at 6.5% for an 06 EX-V6 is $25,878.44-this is at 0% profit for the dealer after factoring the 3% holdback. I also got the wheel locks and splash guards that were on the car for free (not that i'd want to get them if they weren't). Edmuind's TMV for the EX-V6 is $25,918 before TT&L so i feel pretty good about it. IF you can wait a while longer, you will most likely get a better deal than I did since local dealers are loading up for the summer sales. Definitley go through the internet or sales managers and request final out the door quotes via email. Makes negotiating a breeze.

There's a Bill Page Honda about a mile away from me on Arlington Blvd in Falls Church, VA.
  • camble94camble94 Member Posts: 15
Congrats on your purchase. I too am waivering btwn the 4 & 6 cyl. The extra safety features are really what I like on the 6 (plus you do get a bunch of other good stuff). Upset you can't get VSA and traction control on the 4. I keep a car about 8 yrs so want to have the latest safety equipment. All my friends are saying to go for the 6 but they aren't paying my gas bills. I am just trying to be conservative at the same time wondering about mpg's. Please keep us informed about your driving and what it's using.
  • smileygsmileyg Member Posts: 5
Congrats!!! I am in the same position. Trying to decide between 4 and 6 cyl. What are the "other good stuff" with V6 other than the tractoin control and VSA.
  • suzeessuzees Member Posts: 22
so.... what is the most popular color these days? There are an awful lot of silver cars out there. I didn't want silver just because of that. I recently bought an 06 EX-L, 4cyl, graphite pearl, and really think the color is sharp.
  • camble94camble94 Member Posts: 15
With the 6 cyl you also get the bigger engine, dual exhaust, power pass seat, 17 inch wheels.
  • noxcusesnoxcuses Member Posts: 16
    Graphite Pearl, Auto, Sedan.

$17950- price of car w/ floor mats
    + 550- destination
    =____________
    $18500- total
    + 194- dealer fees
    =____________
    $18694
    + 1295- taxes
    =_____________
    $19989 OTD

I think we did great. I couldn't be happier! :)
  • sammymsammym Member Posts: 19
I certainly will. The other forum on "actual MPG" gave me a lot of good info on the mileage; also, check this place out if you haven't done so already: http://auto.consumerguide.com/Auto/New/reviews/full/index.cfm/id/38693/Act/Roadt- est/

I totally agree with you on being conservative, just didn't follow my own "better judgement" on this purchase. Seems like there's an average 4 MPG difference between the 4 and 6 on average, which translates to about $500 extra a year assuming $3/gal and 60 fillups during the year. I loved both engines and like most people i've spoken to, you can't go wrong with either. If the bulk of my driving would have been in the city as opposed to the turnpike, I would have definitely gotten the 4. Good luck with your purchase. Prices will only go down as the summer approaches (almost bought the EX-L I4 for $24,142 OTD).

Ok, well Honda of Tysons Corner used to be SOMETHING. The dealership is under new management and I had never heard of it.

I know every GM dealer in the area, but I'm new to Honda so I don't know what it used to be.
  • temj12temj12 Member Posts: 450
Hey man, I would go for the 4. I have an '05 with manual and 4. It will fly; plenty of power. First Honda I have owned and I could not believe how well it drove when I did the test. The gas mileage is super. I get mid 30's driving 80 and 85. With gas as it is, I wanted to go economy. The lead service writer in the shop end of the dealership told me that the mechanics think the 4 is the best engine.
  • thegraduatethegraduate Member Posts: 9,731
For a full list of feature differences, you should check out automobiles.honda.com and find the Accord. The Accord I-4 is incredibly peppy, and gives better economy than I expected with the power provided.
  • flaminioflaminio Member Posts: 20
I got a couple tanks on my VP auto and got 27-29 MPG with mixed driving, but mostly city.

I'm curious how people are reporting significantly better MPG than the car's ratings.
  • jpgolf55jpgolf55 Member Posts: 34
Thanks for the info. It looks like you paid about $24500 + TTL. That's a great price. I won't need my new car till Sept, so we'll see how low they'll go.
  • easbilleeasbille Member Posts: 1
Can you tell me the name of the Dealership you when to? I'm in the market for an Accord also
  • msisengmsiseng Member Posts: 369
Bill Page has a great reputation, but their prices were never good enough to lure me. Additionally, they did not want to waive the Virginia processing fee. They do not understand that Maryland dealers waive the fee as a business practice. For those reading this, Northern Virginia and Maryland are right next to each other so there is an abundance of choice for buyers.

Everyone who goes to Bill Page raves about the dealership so they must do something right.

A stanger heard me negotiating price with another dealer and said I "had to" check-out Bill Page. Said it was his best experience ever with a dealer. In the same day, a few people at work said they bought there and will remain customers for life. They claim the service department is amazing. If you are in Northern Virginia check them out and report back please.

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a 2006 EXL AT I4 in the next couple weeks, and I see where there is an incentive on interest rates. Can anyone confirm that Honda financing has NO prepayment penalty? I want the flexibility to pay it off whenever, without having to pay more to pay it off early. Thanks!!!
  • tallman1tallman1 Member Posts: 1,874
I was told that there is a pre-payment penalty through Honda if you pay it all off within 3 or 4 months (can't remember exactly). After that it doesn't matter.

I just got a 2006 accord coupe 6-speed. I have the alabater silver metalic paint and noticed that the hood, roof, and trunk seem "blotchy". Not a uniform finish to it. Am I the only one with this problem?
  • tallman1tallman1 Member Posts: 1,874
I have the same color and it looks great. It's metallic paint so you'll see the flecks in it.
  • rob3201rob3201 Member Posts: 5
Can I ask you a question, does your paint finish seem blotchy and not a uniform look to it? I have the same car (6spd) and the paint is annoying me. I cant find any topics here relating to paint :confuse:
  • rob3201rob3201 Member Posts: 5
:confuse: I agree, it does look good. But do you have the same look I am decribing?

Paid $26k even for a grey one that includes destination, but not tax and license. I was also able to take advantage of the 3.9% finance for 3 years. Put $8k down and monthly payment is about $599.60. I could not be happier, considering I was about to lease an Infiniti M45 for the same payment for 3 years. This is a great car for the money!

    Hi guys,

I need help to know if i got a good deal on a new 4cyl 2006 Honda Accord EX-L with Navi. It's a silver exterior with dark leather interior and i got it from Bernardi Honda in Natick, MA at $23,900(including destination charge) excluding sales tax plus other dealership fees which would total $1582.

I'm planning to finance the payment since i'm not trading any car in.

I'm totally new to the game as this is the first car i'm purchasing so i'd really appreciate any reviews. Thanks!
  • smileygsmileyg Member Posts: 5
    was it manual or AT
  • rookie06rookie06 Member Posts: 5
    It was an AT
  • brupopbrupop Member Posts: 63
With the auto trans, that is a GOOD deal.
If you like the car, and what's not to like, buy it and enjoy.
    Let us know.

If you already bought the car it's a little late to question the price you got. The price is good in my option but just remember that only a few people get the best price, the ones who won the car. As long as you are happy with the car (and it's a beautiful car you got) and the price, you got a good deal.
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
How much of the additional 1582 were dealership fees?
  • rookie06rookie06 Member Posts: 5
$387 were dealership fees!! I put down a refundable deposit so i'm yet to pull the trigger on this one!
