I think most if not all of them are bs.
I got quotes from 5 LA dealers and not even one was at invoice for a VP auto.

Can anyone answer why Honda uses heavy load tires for the Accord EX? I noticed them on the Acura TL also.
Edited to ask how much people have paid for the Honda Care extended warranty. How do I know what a fair price is for 5, 6, 7 or 8 years? :confuse:
It does really help others if people who post here mention ALL the details about the car they are considering. Many leave off the type of transmission, for example. And then there are the dealer-added extras that you mention.
The breakdown was this
18879 price
550 dest.
195 tags title
50 process fee
then tax which is 5% in MD
Out the door was 20646.
Bought it from sports Honda. Service there was very laid back and fair.
Anyway I hope this helps anyone else that is looking at the same model.
Thanks again to all in this forum that gave me advice during the buying process.
@ Silko Honda in MASS
Thanks
Thanks
I found a pretty good deal closer to home.
A new 2006 Honda Accord EX - L , 4 cylinders (2.4 liters) Automatic (5A), Sedan , Leather ,Navigation with PZEV plus Mud Flaps (F&R) and Pin Strips.
The Out The Door price $26,800.00
Might not be a good price but I am happy.
Thanks again
Lou
Valley Honda: Aurora, IL $17,182
Grand Honda: Elmhurst, IL $17,361
Honda of Lisle: Lisle, IL $17,386
Must be the market - but definitely not BS
This dealer was in Rhode Island so that narrows it down a lot.
No, I'm not bs'ing anyone here, I did buy my Accord for 800 under invoice.
Took delivery of a Carbon Bronze/Black leather EX-L w/5speed. Kudos to Honda for still offering a nicely equiped car with a stick shift. It's getting pretty rare nowadays. Didn't even bother driving an Altima as they stick an automatic on it as soon as you add any option. Mazda6 was the only other car we gave any serious consideration.
But I digress.
21187 base price
550 destination
100 processing fee
280 added equipment--mud guards, wheel locks, and pinstripe
1105 5% md taxes
215 md tags
23437 "out the door price"
Wasn't keen on the extra wheel locks, pinstripe, and mud guards for $280, but they had to get the car from another dealer who already had them installed them, and we were able to get the color combo we wanted.
Might have been able to haggle down the price a few bucks more, but it was probably the easiest, low pressure car buying experience I've ever had.
The wife (primary driver) is happy. She can park our '94 Dodge B250 conversion van (still going strong, but which had been getting 11-12 mpg). Hopefully the Honda will get a bit better gas milage than that
Our first "foreign" car - Ohio's pretty foreign to us
Do you know what is the sales tax rate at these dealers? Lake county sales tax is 6.5%.
Based on their excitement that Honda still offered a manual with such a nice car, I'd guess yes. Context clues, my friends, context clues!
i paid 23,005.92 and received a clear mask as a gift.
i would be interested in the actual cost of a honda care warranty 7yr , 100,000 mi , 0 ded i have quotes from hondaacura world.com and www.hondawarrantyinfo.com, thanks to this forum but i would like to know the actual cost. any one have the info?
Congratulations on the purchase, that is a great price you paid. Where did you purchase this car from?
Thanks!

That said, in general, I believe the answer to your question is no. I only say that because auto lenders like Capital One always charge higher rates for a refinance than for a new purchase from dealer loan. There must be some advantage in the new dealer purchase - less risk or something.
But, that doesn’t mean I don’t think you should call Honda. I would call the dealership - based upon the information in my Fighting Chance packet, many dealer incentives are tied to good customer service questionnaires. The dealership wants you to be happy because lots of happy customers equal lots of money for the dealership and its employees (which is only fair). So they (much more than Honda in general) may bend over backwards to keep such a recent customer happy.
LOL
I got excellent quote from Valley Honda. Too good to be true. I'm planning to go down there to buy it, but I'm afraid of bait and switch. It's an hour drive for me and don't want to waste my time. Did you have any comments about this dealer? Thanks.
Thanks!
Castle Honda($17282).The price include destination charge. But I chose Castle
Honda(near my home),Last Saturday I went to ask $17000 VP/AT and got it,OTD is
$18537. So you can go to Castle Honda for asking the
same price if you like it,maybe you can get better price than me because this
week is end of month. Good luck!
For reference: I got the '06 Accord EX with Nav.
Sport Honda was very good. I bought there from a guy with an Australian accent (we cannot use names here). Do your homework here and go to him with your lowest price. Tell him you heard of him on Edmunds.com.
Herson's Honda was $400.00 under any other dealer, but only had silver and a damaged car which was not attractive for resale. It was worth it to pay $400.00 more for a nicer color at Sport Honda. The Herson's internet sales manager was great to work with. Herson's service department has suffered over the years. This is something they are "changing." The damaged (bumper scratch) car price was very low. It got damaged when it was unloaded from the truck. They did the body work and disclosed this information which is refreshing.
Criswell Honda was just plain rude  and their prices were very high. They were also rude to several others on this board and two of my friends. Beware. I am sure they are reading this and will create a user id and subsequently post to make themselves look better. BEWARE!
Tyson's Honda is known for having the highest prices in the DC area. Their quotes were very high on the Accord and the Pilot. My friend was quoted $1,500 over everyone else on his S2000.
Fairfax Honda tried to sell me a lot of extras such as "paint protectant" and "rust proofing." They tried to say that floor mats were not standard. Well, they are. This is a spill-over from 1988, so avoid this dealership. The salesman also could not speak English so dealing with him was confusing, at best. I asked for a sales manager and he was "too busy." LATER MUCH!
Bill Page Honda is known for treating customers the best, but their prices were middle of the road. I do not know one person who bought there who is sorry. There are stories of the owner calling customers to ensure they are happy. How often do we find that?
College Park Honda had the third highest price qoute. Their stock is also limited and their service department is known to be very poor.
Ourisman Honda lied about a free service loaner, so I ran. Upon calling the service manager, he said they never issue service loaners and stated the salesman was "lying." RED FLAG. They also would not quote a price over the phone and told me to bring my best price. They lost me for life over the lie and failure to quote a price on the phone. They are also in an expensive rent area and have to make more profit than other dealers.
Warrenton Honda was awesome and would match the price at Herson's. They were just too far away, but agreed to pay for a rental car to get there.
Then you have the dealers near Baltimore. Different world and you can get better prices. They try the add-on trick more than the DC dealers.
It does not matter where you buy the car because you can have it serviced anywhere. You can get a better deal by going into the sticks. If you do this then try Warrenton Honda.
Remember: do not pay a documentation fee. Everyone waived it EXCEPT for Tyson's Honda.
I hope other DC area people will add to the list.
Let us know if this helps.
Sorry can't help otherwise with your ?
Thanks, Scott
need to visit sales mgr and or salesman with red hair and mustache. tell him i told you about my great experience. i bought the silver/gray exl 4c, 4d, made in japan, on sat 4/22/06
First oil change free, plus free carwashes.
I asked for a quote from Criswell, and was impressed that they sent me an immediate quote, breaking down all costs, so that you could see the out-the-door price. They were a couple hundred less, but they tacked on $99 wheel locks.
Then, based on others on this board, I emailed Sports Honda in Silver spring, and got an even better price, and they had only a $49 doc fee, instead of $100, and they didn't have manditory wheel locks. They did warn that if they had to get the car from another dealership, I might have to pay $280 for stuff that dealer may have added (strips, locks, muggards). Still came out a bit less than Criswell. Criswell and Sports were they only dealer to give a complete quote.
Shockley Honda in Frederick was the most laid back dealer. They gave me the same price as Sport, so I bought from them.
I think I would have been ok buying from any of these dealers. While I did encounter some traditional, hard-sell "salesman" personalities while looking (the dodge dealership was the worse), for the most part car dealers have learned that people want a more relaxed, soft-sell car buying experience.
Thank you very very much for the information. It is very helpful and I hope to hear from other greater DC folks as well!
Just out of curiousity, did either of you happen to test drive the new civic? Why did you choose the Accord over the new civic?
Thanks again!
Thanks..
None of these are necessities of course, but they are nice to have on a modern vehicle.
