Thanks. I didn't notice the difference in the handling. But it's hard when you only drive the cars for 5 miles and 2 weeks apart. But it's good to know that the LX handles better. The brochure did not mention auto off headlamps, nor body colored handles, nor anti-roll bar. What is anti-roll bar any way? I don't know much about car.

Anyone used the Costco Membership auto buying system, and did you get a good price using it? (EX-L 4cyl auto w/Leather or LX-SE 4 cyl auto)

    thanks

I used Costco last year when I was buying my '05 hybrid. I was expecting to pay MSRP and lots of haggling because I thought this hybrid may be hot. The first Costco dealer I contacted told me he would sell at invoice! No haggling. I then knew market was soft so I went to a regular dealer and said that I had a quote for $500 below invoice. This dealer then sold me car for $600 below invoice and threw in wheel locks and mudguards also for free.

The anti-roll bar would likely be noticed when doing an emergency maneuver (swerving to avoid a deer for instance). The bar is in place to prevent suspension roll (heavy listing to one side) and help keep control of the car. You likely wouldn't notice much difference in regular "around town" driving, but in situations where handling is important, you will be glad to have the roll-bar.

You might want to drive the LX and compare the differences in interior (Variable Speed Intermittent Wipers, MUCH better stereo than VP) and compare the exteriors of the cars (the LX is generally more upscale).

Is anyone on here from North Carolina. I was wanting to know what kind of quotes you were getting for an Automatic LX SE. The lowest I've been able to get so far is $20,028 plus all the fees.

I figured out that Tysons Corner Honda used to be Rosenthal Honda.

A few more to point out: Brown's Honda (there are actually 2) is nice because they list their prices online (www.brownscars.com). I don't think their prices include destination, but they are at invoice on the Accord, it appears--check it out.

There is also a Honda dealer in Leesburg, VA. Maybe that's what ms meant, if there isn't one in Warrenton?

So, to pick up on the hybrid discussion, I've seen virtually nobody talking about buying an Accord Hybrid. I just read an article about how Honda can't sell these, so I'm wondering if there might be a deal to be had here. Anybody have anything to report on teh current state of Hybrid prices?

    Hi
I've been researching a 2007 Toyota Camry for the last two months. Just for the hell of it ,I stopped into a Honda dealership, after test driving a 2007 Camry XLE. I looked at a
    2006 Honda Accord Sdn EX-V6 w/nav.(model#CM6686JNW)
    With all standard equipment.
I think this car is sweet!
I was quoted a price of,26,715 from an online dealer.
Does this seam like a fair Price?
    Thanks
    Ralph

    Does it have leather?
  • ralphs007ralphs007 Member Posts: 12
I don't think so.The quote I was emailed said nothing about leather. This would not be a deal breaker if it had no leather. Also the quote said nothing about automatic trans. I emailed the dealer asking if it was an automatic. If its not automatic then I'm not interested. My stick shift days are over,I need my right hand to drink my morning coffee!
    Thanks

Right, I meant Leesburg - close enough for government work. All far to me, but the salesman was very nice and quoted a low price. Felt bad I did not buy there, but it was just too far.

I could not find an Accord hybrid that was affordable.
  • exshomanexshoman Member Posts: 109
All V6 EX's have leather. Both I4 & V6 with Navi have leather.

Prices for manual and automatic are the same for V6 models. Since a heck of a lot more automatics are sold, you should be good to go.

Test drove the new Civic for fun. Very nice car with a beautiful design, just too small and less power then I am used to. Moreover, dealers were less willing to haggle over price.

When you have the car of the year why make deals? Was also afraid it may have first year issues like the new Camry. Can anyone say transmission?
  • exshomanexshoman Member Posts: 109
Didn't drive the Civic, but I did check it out in the dealership. Seems like a nice car, but a bit small for me. We've got 3 kids, and the Accord fit better. Not sure if I cared for the Civic's futuristic looking dash. Liked the exterior styling though.

I also figured that some of the gas savings of a civic over accord would get cancelled out by the fact that insurance is more for the civic. Think it was about $100 dollars a year more than accord.

If you ever get a chance to visit Shockley, one of the fun things to check out is they have an original 60's Honda in the showroom. Boy, is that thing tiny. 600cc, two cylinder engine, with maybe 10 inch wheels. Looks like you could pick the thing up. Guess it's there to remind you how far they've come in automotive technology.

geesh. sorry to be digging back a ways, thegraduate, but i completely missed your post for some reason.

anyway, he did say he was trading in. But, yer right, i missed the part about it being a coupe.

since we never heard back from him, i guess it doesn't matter. i hate when that happens. someone starts a discussion and then bails. :(

That would be great. I'm actually from Raleigh. So yes, please let me know if you find a better deal. The lowest quote I received so far, the one I stated previously, came from Leith Honda on Capital Blvd.
  • thegraduatethegraduate Member Posts: 9,731
Oh well. Sorry I missed the part about him actually trading in. I won't rat you out for missing the "coupe" thing, and you leave me alone about the trade-in thing, and we'll call it a day? :)

    Hi everyone,

I just purchased a 2006 Coupe EX-V6, and got the car for about $3000 below MSRP, in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

A dealer admitted to me that the model is not very popular anymore, and there's plenty of inventory.

    Good luck to you all!

    Is this a good deal on a 2006 LX-V6:

    22,640 Negotiated Price
    -19,000 Trade 2005 LX-V6, 12200 miles, no options
    218 Tax
    117 Doc & Tag Transfer
    $3,975 plus trade OTD.

Or is the 2006 not worth the trade up?
  • bayfishingbayfishing Member Posts: 2
I would like to know what is the best otd price for this vehicle? Your help is greatly appreciated and please tell me the dealer name also if you done mind, thank you ahead. I will try to buy before the month end close to get a "good deal" sort of speak.
  • shergillshergill Member Posts: 8
    I paid $22,641 + TTL for a 2006 2.4EXL Automatic. Great car!
  • msisengmsiseng Member Posts: 369
Without Navi the car is going for $24,750 including destination in most areas. Taxes and tags are extra, but Houston seems to be cheaper for all cars in general. $25, 980 now with Navi which is below what a lot of us paid a month ago!

Can anyone guess why prices are dropping given all the Camry woes?
  • msisengmsiseng Member Posts: 369
Wider wheels/tires will reduce gap. Simple physics. How can you not reduce gap with the extra inch? Will also use more gas, but give superior handling. Depending on the brand the tread pattern, you will have a different ride.

Maybe you got lucky with the suspension? Generally if you lower the car it throws a lot off kilter. Not a best practice if the car is under warranty.
  • bayfishingbayfishing Member Posts: 2
Shergill, if you don't mind me asking? What is your otd price then. Do you think they can do 24-25k otd price for this model? thanks for your reply :confuse:

I sent out for quotes through Edmunds today to five dealers in NC. Without negotiating yet, I got this offer on an EX w/o leather, but with the run of the mill dealer installed mud guards and wheel locks. 22,148.41 OTD That's 20,896 + 650 nc tax, 60+ registration, and 399 doc fees. Does this sound good? What would be the best way to get a moonroof guard and a rear spoiler without paying full price. I was thinking of coming back with 20,496 or same pric with both. Is that pushing it?

    Thanks,
    Kyle
    NC

By the way, those of you from NC looking for an SE, I got an OTD on that for 20,479...just so you can use that in your research.
  • msisengmsiseng Member Posts: 369
In any negotiation give them something to say "no" to. Ask for one more accessory and be prepared for them to say "no" to one of the three. Then, pay for that one accessory.

Sounds like you may be pushing it with the $20,496 for both. Using the above technique may get you one additionay accessory for $20,896 - $21,000.

All-in-all, not bad prices either way.

    Hey guys,

The best deal I found so far was $16,600 + TTL for '06 VP Auto. I just bought it today and the total came out to be $18,188. It was for the royal blue color, which I don't think is too popular. Is this a good deal? What prices did you guys get?
  • alamocityalamocity Member Posts: 680
I'd say you got a very good deal, much better than what is available in the Austin/San Antonio area, best deal I've seen here is $17,683.00.
  • long6long6 Member Posts: 2
    Hey,

which area are you in? This is a really good deal. I am in Pittsburgh. I only find 17600+TTL. Anyone knows the best deal in Pittsburgh also?

    Hi Guys,

Anyone has bought VP accord AT in Pittsburgh area. I talked to some dealers, they insist 17600 +TTL. Is this a fair price or should have a better price to negociate?

I went car shopping with my gf for an Accord with her 21 yr old son Sat.I knew I could get an Accord for invoice minus approx 550 from a couple of different dealers. My biggest problem was his trade which was a 99 Galante ES with 105k on it.It was also involved in an accident earlier this month. It had a crumpled front hood, grille gone, broken left headlight and damage underneath.I saw that a Galante in poor condition should fetch approx 2200,but I knew this was going to be tough. The first 2 dealers only offered 500 for trade so that killed the deal before we began. The third dealer,Tom's River Honda (NJ) got the deal, but they were the biggest bunch of shyster car salesman I ever dealt with.
Because it was the end of the month and they were also doing a promotion,it was very busy there. To make a long story short,I outtalked the salesmanger, and we got an LX with pin striping, door edge guards in Gray for 17,100,which they gave us 2,000 for the trade. The price of the car was around invoice. After the deal was struck, they tried everything in their power to try an screw us,get us angry an leave.Even the financing was a problem, due to great credit we wanted 5.9 an they tried to trick us into signing for probably close to 8.
They were the biggest pack of crooks I ever had to deal with.If we weren't getting such a great deal I would have made them walk. That trade was a POS,if I had got 800 I thought that would be max,but I saw where the sales manager was going right off an he agreed to invoice an 2 grand for trade before he tried to tank us.
First time I think I totally outsmarted a bunch of crooks.

I just wanted to confirm my recent transaction with McGrath Honda in St. Charles, IL.

The pricing was completed over e-mail and the entire transaction went very smoothly. McGrath does not stock any VPs, so once everything was settled, we did have to put down a deposit ($500) and they found one at a local dealer and brought it in. Since I was going to put at least that much down in cash anyway, I didn't mind the deposit (they do take Credit Cards), but keep it in mind if you want to purchase from there. We had to bring our two small kids with us on Friday night to pick up the car, and the dealership has a small, but clean and nice playroom in which we were able to wait with them and they stayed entertained while we waited for the finance person to be available.
  • msisengmsiseng Member Posts: 369
When you get your Honda survey, make sure to give them low marks. You could even report them the the Better Business Bureau. Sounds like you did well and who really wants to buy a used Galante? They took a bath to sell units so good going! Last day of the month is a real charm.
  • mtm917mtm917 Member Posts: 3
That is an excellent deal. I purchased an '06 VP Auto a month ago for $16,700 + TTL. The color was alabaster silver and the total price came out to $17,843 OTD. I live in Massachusetts.
  • fisherman2fisherman2 Member Posts: 20
    Ok so I mis-spelled Galant....no glasses.LOL
If we get the survey, we are gonna pound the crap out of them.We have even considered called Honda Headquarters in another couple days.
This really was a good deal though. We were looking around at used Accords and it seems for a couple thousand more we got a brand new one rather than one 3 years old or so with 40-50 K @15,000

Just bought a 2006 Honda Accord LX SE 4-dr. Auto (red in color) from Wilde Honda in Waukesha Wisconsin for $16998.00 (internet quote) plus tax title and plates and only $89.00 dealership fee for a OTD price of $18150.00 total. internet price. I was a very easy proces with no games unlike other Milwaukee area dealerships ans the process took less than two hours, no pressure to buy additional items, but did also give me two free oil changes as well.

A total great experience, like it should be.

Paid about 26900 OTD for Honda EX-L V6, no Navi. Finance dept wanted to add in extras totaling up to 3000 in addition to OTD price. Originally took it because the payments were not that much different. As I was walking out the office, I finally notice the OTD price was now over 30k. I requested for it off, than was offered 2 year maintenance, car protection and alarm for 1500, and motnhly payments reduced by about a dollar. Thought about for a long period of time, but that 1500$ really was too much for me to swallow even though the payment would about the same. Should I have taken the deal? Was the OTD price a good deal? I'm having doubts about everything now.
BTW, the car is nice, too much road noise tho, and you will feel the bumps. Would of liked to check out the new Camry .
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,755
What was your price before taxes, tags, and fees? That's the only way anyone can tell if your OTD price was good or not.

    '11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S

  • r3drum1r3drum1 Member Posts: 3
Did not pay too much attention to that, even tho the saleman showed the cost. I know I should of paid more attention. I was just not confortable with paying 28-30k for an accord, if I had that budget in mind, I would of opted for the Navi or even a different made model.

Purchased a Graphite Pearl Accord Coupe in San Diego last weekend. I traded in my pick-up as I was tired of the behemoth proportions of the truck, and the gas bills! I am extremely happy with my purchase. I love the look of the Coupe. It is a V6 and has all the luxury I need. I love the XM radio, I already have XM 2 Go, so I can now subscribe for the car for $6.99 per month. MSRP was $27,950. I had e-mailed back and forth to the internet sales dept. until I got the price down to $24,732 before tax and fees. OTD price was $26,943. Dealer was Poway Honda and they are a pleasure to deal with.
  • rupak001rupak001 Member Posts: 3
hey, I just contacted the dealer and they are saying it can't be SE, may be some other vehicle, they are quoting $18,555 for an SE. could you send me an email with the salesperson's name so that I might be able to get in touch with him to get a good deal.

    Thank you.

I would really appreciate it if you could email me the info on the salesrep. Wilde honda told me that this price is a mistake.
