If you are in CA, SE AT I4 is sold at $17,000-18,000 including destination before TTL.

I am looking at buying the above mentioned Accord by the end of the month. I sent out a couple of internet inquiries around NC and got a couple of replies. Most quotes were coming in around the $23,000 + TTL range. This is a good price but just curious if they are selling for lower than that. One dealership has only one V6 EX-L coupe left on the lot and it is near to the end of the month - what should I pay?

$17K to 18K sounds like too wide a range for me, anyone can comment some number specific?

I was looking at the same car, went to dealer today and offered $5K under MSRP, which is $17.2K, the salesman talked to his manager and pretty much let me go.

Sound like a great OTD price to me. Since SE V6 is $2500 more than SE I4, I guess $18.5K is close to the OTD price of SE I4?

I will be greatly appreciated if you could share your quote, my email is fyuntao@gmail.com.

i dont think i was willing to drive to MA for a car...lol...but good deal though...
  • hoho823hoho823 Member Posts: 6
If you only want the car for only one year, then the first priority is to have a car that depreciates the least in the industry. And that will be the Toyota Prius.

Get a Package 2 with the OTD price @ $22,500 (assume tax at 3%). If you sell it yourself after one year, you can still get about $20,000 to $22,000 back (depends on your car's condition and mileage).

I sold mine because of the lackluster acceleration and the interior fabrics (beige) were dyed by my jeans. And those are the only drawbacks.

Most dealers must have cleared the 07 Accords by now, I suppose. Are there any dealers who have more than 200 unsold 2007 Accords still? If so, it may be a good idea to visit them during the Labor Day weekend ( perhaps closing hours on August 31st may be a good idea as well as they have to meet their monthly sales quota ). Is there a single site that tells us how many cars each dealer has left on their lot? Do we have to go to each dealer's website to find that info?

    To Frankcario,

I contact one of the internet sales man there, but he won't give me that price. Can you please email me the name of the dealer who gave you the written quote? My email address is sevennine04 (at) yahoo.com Thank you so much!!!!!

I was quoted $22,700 by a couple dealerships; might have been able to go lower if it wasnt for my trade in and trying to get a reasonable amount there. Try negotiating at $22k and work your way from there; might be hard to get under $22k...maybe in a couple weeks but your taking a gamble on there being many Accords left at that point. The local dealer sold 7 Accords within the first four hours of being open today...

I've been looking at the online inventories also and have to wonder how often they are updated online as they dont automatically update each momoment a car is sold....

Checked all the dealers and best selection and price on a LX sedan auto was $2,300 back of invoice. Houston dealers pay an adverting fee that some of the east coast dealers do not pay but higher discounts than this are not to be found in Texas. Dealer gets 1 2008 for every 2007 accord they sell.
    MSRP 21,520.00
    price 17,263.54
    sales tax 1078.97
    dit 40.59
    doc fee 50.00
    I/L/T 127.55
    OTD 18,560.65
No games, No add ons and a great experience :shades:

hi, i see all these great prices for the honda
    accord 4d, 6cyl, automatic. msrp 27,995, invoice 25,414.57

then i see that in some areas buyers are quoted prices as low as 22,293 which seems very good to me.

would someone please tell me the best price they have been quoted or paid in colorado? did anyone get to the 22,293? and if so which dealer quoted this low price. thank you: pbraun3219@aol.com

I bought a 2007 EXL AT 4cyl, 4dr AT yesterday for Out the door price of $21,482 in Woodbridge. Maybe later you can get a lower price, but before I took the deal I had emailed at least 6 other dealerships and they emailed me back, hope we can do business some other time but we can not match that price. I really like this dealership. They gave their presentations and said I could call them if I wanted to buy the extras, warranty, accessories etc.
    Price for car $20,386.00
    tax $ 623.55
    processing 399.00
    License & title 49.50
I negotiated for an out the door so I didn't even look at the break up cost. Out the door $21,482.51. Although I tried to negotiate, I knew at least this week I couldn't match the price in my area.

For those who missed my earlier posts I think it is very important for the forum to know that Ourisman Honda at Laurel are playing cheap games on customers.
They are quoting very low prices for Accords (especially LX) and when you visit them they do not honour their quotes.
They have literally taken off all the basic accords from their lots and try to sell you high end accords with lots of options.
When you call them they will say that they have cars at the OTD cost they are offering on the internet.
I have been there twice (even though I live 90 min drive from their dealership). The second time I called them from my way less than 5 min to their dealership. They confirmed again but when I reached there they did not show me the car instead tried to sell me an SE or LE with $2000 worth extra options.
They are however still offering the low internet quotes even though they DO NOT HAVE ANY ACCORD LE on their lots.

They say we can get it from other dealers but you will have to pay extra 1000 or 2000 bucks for that.

So guys DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT OURISMAN HONDA at LAUREL!!!!!
Moreover, in my experience they are the the worst, most rude and unethical dealers.
    BEWARE!!!!!!!

I'll be buying a new Honda, probably a 4-cylinder 2007 Accord EX-L, in the next few months. The 2008s are supposed to be available Sept. 13, and I'm wondering if dealers would be more likely to discount the 2007s before Sept. 13, to make room for the new models, or after Sept. 13, when there is likely to be far more interest in the 2008s.

Also, what is a reasonable amount that I can expect to negotiate off the invoice price, which is $26,498 including destination?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
  • bigmike2bigmike2 Member Posts: 96
That invoice sounds a bit high. Does it have nav?
  • statelineccstatelinecc Member Posts: 5
Unless I read the invoice wrong, no, it doesn't. It was $25,050 base price, plus $169 for splash guards and $99 for wheel locks, neither of which I will need. It also included XM radio, which I saw on each of the EX-Ls in the lot today.

I'm in the middle of something else, so I may be way off, but that sounds more like MSRP.

Try choosing and pricing your vehicle here:

    http://www.edmunds.com/honda/accord/2007/index.html

From the previous messages, it looks like something like $2k off invoice is not a problem if you're persistent. Others may correct me.

The Ourisman Honda internet quote of $2,900 back of invoice helped get me get the Houston area dealers real and purchase for $2,300 back.
This forum was great in giving me the insight of what pricing was available.
  • statelineccstatelinecc Member Posts: 5
You're correct, bigmike - I was quoting MSRP, not invoice. Sorry about the mixup.

It seems to me that $22K OTD isn't an unreasonable goal here, and a little lower might not be out of the question, either. By the way, I live in South Carolina, if that has any effect up or down on the price.

    Thanks for the help.

The local dealer over the phone had mentioned to me that they were letting the V-6 SE's go for under 20K and I hadn't even mentioned anything about the price.

Well no Honda dealer has an Accord LE on their lots because Honda doesn't make an Accord LE.

Are you sure you're not talking about a Toyota dealer? They have LE's.

BEWARE - There was a recent mass mailing from this dealership offering $1600 below invoice and free tint. From my experience, I can almost guarantee that they will load up their cars with Pin Stripes/Wind Deflector/Propac/spoiler/etc so that they can jack up the prices back by about $1,500-$2,000 again.

Net affect will be you will pay for the cost of ultra-high margin (and probably worthless) stuff and will be made to feel happy with it!!!

Yes, they had lots of "adds" when I was there last weekend, but the king of adds is Vandergipes. I am not kidding, I saw an Accord with a MSRP of $23,000, and MORE than $5000 of "adds". What a joke! Some sort of tire warranty, lo-jack, propack, tint, door guards, spoilers, digi-shield, protectant this and that etc........ in fact there were several mid level Accords with $3,000 + in "Adds". David McDavid averaged just over a thousand.

    Hi everyone,

I wanted to thank you all for providing great price info. I ended up getting a 2007 Accord Sedan VP Automatic Transmission 4 cylinder I4 for $15,900 (which included the destination fee of $595). Was this a good price?

I paid something like $436 dollars for the alarm/security/engine shutdown w/out key system which could be used to get an 8% discount for AAA car insurance, so I think it'll pay for itself over the years.

With out the door (including tax and title) it came to a little over $17,600.

Unfortunately, I got the last VP at Hardin Honda of Anaheim, CA, but I had a great experience with Gardena DCH Honda. The salesman that runs their AAA buying program was honest and friendly and no BS, just ask for none of the extras and stick with the quoted base price and you should be OK. You can get a base price for $16,184 and they have a variety of colors to choose from. The only reason I didn't go with them was that Hardin Honda Anaheim was a lot closer to my house and they offered $284 dollars less.

    Thanks again edmunds.com community!

I think dealers will offer more discount to clear their remaining 07s before Sept. 13 so that they can get more 08s to sell. Honda USA on the other hand will offer more incentive to help dealers to clear their remaining 07s after Sept. 13 once they launch the 08s.
  • alamocityalamocity Member Posts: 680
The $18,287.00 price is for the vehicle, need to add sales tax (6.25%), 127.05 for DMV fees, 50.00 for documentation fees, Texas Inventory Tax (.002543 X Car Price) to get the out the door price. Dealership is Gunn Honda.

Hey, I'm just wondering when you guys buy cars if you get the extended warranty? I know it is cheaper to get it from manufacturer rather than dealership, but is it worth it?
  • hondav6hondav6 Member Posts: 8
Yes, in My opinion it is worth having extended warranty. I have seen most of people taking this. especially with Transmission issues with the recent vehicles. But I have see low prices online (myhondawarranty.com) and at hondar-care site. Please do your work before purchasing.

I have read others say a lot about this dealership and knowing that, I still gave them a chance. Here is my story with Ourisman Honda in Laurel, MD for August 24, 2007.

A friend of mine and I were looking for EX-L V6 Accords and as I published on the forum, I had received a quote from Brown's Honda in Glen Burnie, MD for 23,900 OTD (approximately). This was a walk-in price and not an internet quote. Browns told me that they are giving $6000 off the MRSP price to everyone on all V6 Accords. They had big posters all over the place. They also had the car I wanted on the lot and I test drove it.

At the same time, I received a quote from Ourisman Honda for 23700 "on the road" via email. I was looking for Black color and the Internet Sales Manager wrote in his email, "That should not be a problem".

My friend also called the Ourisman directly and told them about this $6000 off price and they said "we will beat the price". My friend talked to a sales person however, she told my friend that they don't have the car but they can get it and will match the Brown's Price or even batter, give us $6500 off the MRSP to beat Brown's Honda if we buy two.

So now we both had two quotes from Ourisman, one verbal and one in email. They did not know that we were together as we were in contact with different people. When we arrived at Ourisman, the first thing we were told that they don't have any EX-L V6 cars as all are sold but she can get them for us. Finally the Sales Rep talked to her manager who was trying to figure out our pricing and he came back with a price of 23400 but this time without Tax and Title etc. When we said but you were going to offer us $6500 off, the manager refused saying there is no way they can sell that car for 23400 on the Road. So at this time, I pulled out my phone and showed him the email quote I had received from Internet Sales Manager and asked for him. They were a bit puzzled but finally the Internet Sales Manager came. This time, the manager again tried to convince me that online price did not include Tax/Title. When I literally showed him the email, and asked them to read, he admitted that his price does include Tax Title because in the email he had explicitly said "On the Road" Price. Now, they changed their tactic. This time, they said they can still give us the 23700 price but we will have to pay the "Convenience package" which is $1500. At this point, we had it enough, we told them that Browns are offering us the car at this price and they have the car in stock. You guys, don't have a car yet you keep changing your statements. I also told the manager that there is a lot being said about you on the internet and they admitted that they know about this. I asked manager that how can you sell the convenience package for $1500 as it only has Wheel Locks, Splash Guards and few other rubber protections for Door edges etc. These items are not worth more than 300 bucks in all. The manager replied we can do this because we are "Ourisman". We are the top sellers in this market and we have loyal customers who always come to us bla bla bla.... and so we walked away from Ourisman. Luckily, we had read about them all this and we were testing them out and they proved to be exactly what has been described in previous emails. For anyone else, please keep that in mind when you visit Ourisman for anything. These guys are not trust worthy at all.

As far as we are concerned, we left Ourisman, and drove back to Brown's Honda in Glen Burnie. They offered the same price that they had given us the first time. I ended up driving my new EX-L V6 Accord back home that night after paying $23614.00 on the road that included everything. My fried bought his Honda the next day as he had to bring his old car for trade-in. I know I have read someone bought an EX-L V6 for $22700 or so but we could not get cheaper than $23614 in this area. All my prices mentioned in this email are OTD and includes all Taxes, Title, Destination charges, Dealer fee of $100 etc.

So good luck you all. I have learned a lot from this forum but I have noticed that dealers are not happy with this type of forums and they are trying to come up with ways to cheat us around or at least misguide us. Last year, I bought Odyssey and used this forum to get a good price. At that time, dealers were not yet unhappy with these internet pricing thing or at least that's how I felt. Since then, I feel things have changed. Internet buyers are putting dealers in competition and they don't like it. Many dealers never responded to my email request for quotes which was not the case last year. However internet is working the way it's supposed to by giving "INFORMATION". This informations helps consumers make better and smarter choices. Of course, not good for dealers :) Keep it up guys.

We finally made the decision and purchased the Accord Sedan EX-L 4 cyl last Saturday. We got it for 22670 OTD. We live in twin cities and got this car from Luther Brookdale Honda. We needed a Graphite Pearl and none of the other dealers around twin cities had that color in stock @ this price, so just had to pull the trigger.

    Selling price - 20800.00
    Tax (6.5%) - 1352.00
License Fees - 431.00 (including $100 for personalized license plates)
    Title/Transfer- 34.25
    Doc Fees - 50.00
    Lien Fees - 2.00

The buying experience was ok. We had email quotes and everything ready from other dealers and she just had to beat my lowest quote of 20,919 + TTL, which she did after talking to her manager. She tried to sell us different colors by saying that Graphite Pearl was not available. But we were not happy and wanted a Graphite Pearl. She again talked to her manager and came with a quote for EX-L V6 in graphite pearl - $23150 + TTL. We never wanted to buy a V6, but still thought this was a good deal and put a counter offer for $22500 + TTL on EX-L V6. She came down another $150 and she said the final price on V6 would be $23000 + TTL. In Between all this she talked to her manager couple of times and found a EX-L 4 cyl in Graphite pearl. We took the 4 cyl. for a test drive. During the test drive I was also thinking about her offer for V6, just because it was a good offer in my opinion. We were tight on budget and eventually decided to go with EX-L 4 cyl.

One thing that I was not happy about was, they wouldn't accept my financing check from CapitalOne Auto Finance. They say its too much of a trouble for us and we had bad experiences in the past. But she offered to match the interest rate if I financed thru them. I didn't want to dig any deeper and just agreed with them since I was paying that with capital finance anyway. Yeah, probably they get some benefit by getting me to finance thru Honda. But it turned out OK for me, since I am paying the same rate.

Other thing that I noted was, in the paperwork all the documents would show the model as Accord 4dr Auto EX instead of Accord 4dr Auto EX-L. I talked with the finance guy and he said that's how the system prints it out. Weird..., considering they also have the EX model which comes without leather seats and sunroof. But he assured me that the vin# will identify your vehicle so you should not worry about it. Do you guys see any problem in this? He also offered me Extended Warranty which I declined.

The car was ready to be picked up on the same day but we decided to pick it up on Thursday.

Overall everything went smooth and was happy with the purchase. Might have gotten a few hundred dollars cheaper but we got the color we wanted considering all the 07 Accords selling so fast.

Thanks to all the people on this forum for guiding and helping us in making a better purchase.

    Thanks.
