    Thank you spleck & atlantabenny!!!

Spleck- whether or not I end up with the TSX, I really do thank you for giving my the info. If this car was available now, I'm pretty certain it would be just what I'm looking for (except for a bit higher price) But I think I'm willing to pay that for peice of mind. However, I don't think I'd be willing to pay the higher price that's expected when the car is first released. Anyhow, this is a great option for me!!! Thanks!

Atlantabenny- That is also true about the Passat possible changing its body style soon. That probably would bug me a bit on top of everything else! And as you said, it would contribute to a lower resale value....hhmmmm. Good point!

"interim transportation": My mom is also considering purchasing the Accord, which we all agree is a perfect car for her. My Dad would want a Camry, but that's just not hip enough for her. The Accord would be perfect. If she bought that now, I could use her current car (Nissan Pathfinder) until I really decide on something else. My Dad seems to want to wait until later in the year to purchase the Accord. I don't know why!?

Do you (and anyone else) think $23,100 is a good price for the Accord EX-L V6. To me, it seems like a great price. Should we expect to get it for less later?

Thanks again! You're all a great source of info & advice!

p.s. I've sent you an email Atlantabenny :)

I think $23100 is a great price for the V6 Accord. If that's the car you end up buying I don't think you could have gotten a much better price.
  • redselredsel Member Posts: 19
Hi, i have researched several vehicles and have decided on an Accord EX-V6 sedan. The $23,100. price does indeed sound quite good. I presume that does not include the $460. Destination fee, if it does then it is a "real" good price. Would be interested in knowing what area of the country this price is available in, especially if the latter is true, though that sounds "too" good. My E-Mail address is listed in my bio, please advise as to these figures.

Just purchased a 2003 Accord EX-L Automatic with an MSRP of $30,350 for $29,100. When I met most dealers in person I was told they would maybe budge about $500 off MSRP (some didn't even go that far!). Then I hopped on the internet and e-mailed every dealer within 300km (about 10-15) and received an offer I couldn't refuse. The car is FANTASTIC!

    Hi redsel,
I sent you an email regarding the prices I received. I figured I'd post here also in case others were wondering.
Like I mentioned, I haven't sat down to do the paperwork, but from what I can see- these are real prices. I explained a little more in my rambling mess of a post under the Accord vs. Passat thread. I also reaceived very similar prices from another dealership- so I think the prices have dropped a bit here in my area (Bay Area, CA) Maybe its the high unemployment, high cost of living....toooo many accords in the lots?

I hope I am as happy with it as revgslick!

My heart is still searching for the sportier, but still reliable sedan. Finding something like this in my price range has been tough!

Can anyone recommend an insurance company to me? I'm with State Farm under my parent's plan and they say that an Accord coup ex-l (non-v6) is $2,500+ (6 months) whether or not my parent's are the primary or I defect and start my own State Farm plan.

I know it's tough to find a company that writes up new policies. Can anyone help?

Prep21, you are in a rough situation, Im betting you are quite young, I am a 23 year old male and I am still getting bent over by the good old thiefs, or should I say insurance companies. Attempt to contact a broker, I tried but it really didnt help me out that greatly. I received some ridiculous quotes on my 03 accord. I ended up staying with my original company, they offered me the best deal. Good luck.

I would have been paying about $1000/6 months, but I just got married and its $575 for 6 months.

I just received an internet quote from a NJ dealer for an LX Auto Sedan for $18,000 and only $250 more with side airbags. They also quoted my $1,000 for alloys which for a dealer I didn't think was so bad.

Does anyone know how many V6 / 6 Speed for the MY03?
  • spleckspleck Member Posts: 114
I don't believe Honda has officially said how many they're making. When the rumors were that each dealer would only get one, total production would have been 1000. But I think some dealers will only get 2 for MY03, while a large one in my area is getting 2/month (total about 18 I think considering 04 will be ~Sept). Another person suggested that Honda's minimum production run is 6000. While I don't believe that to be true, I think the number is pretty close. Using rough estimation, considering that a certain % of Accords are coupes and a certain % are V6 and a certain % of the I4s are MT, 6000 is a good number.

Just received a quote of 500 over invoice from Honda dealer in Ocala, Fl. Best deals are through internet sales departments.Buchanan Jenkens Honda,Ocala.Do not pay the dealer the hold back cost which is 3% on this car. That's money in their pocket on a new car not sitting on their lot yet.

I just picked up my 2003 in northern Indiana. List 28,240 Paid 27,000. Might have been able to do better but there is only one dealer in town and the closest competitor is over 60 mi away.

Just purchased an Accord EX-V6 from Curry Honda in Chicopee, MA. I was given a hard quote over the phone of $100 over dealer invoice by David Therrien(internet manager),with only dealer charge being a $94 doc fee. Went to dealership next day and put a deposit down on a silver Accord with 2.9% on the amount financed. Two days later changed my mind on color and switched to desert mist. No problem. A completely pain free experience, other than the financial outlay. Seeing as I have been lurking on this site for the last month I want to thank you all for the excellent advise and info. I drove the car home today.

I was shot a price of $22860 for this vehicle at the LaCrosse, WI Honda dealership It's only $1300 off retail (24160). How far down should I be able to get them? I see some posts are saying they are getting the same vehicle for under $22k?

    Thanks

    Hi,
Thanks to all of you who were helping my with my car decision!

Also, for anyone who was wondering about the pricing, I was able to get the 03 Accord EX-L V6 for 23,100! I thought I did pretty darn good! I was worried that they'd qoute me that and try to add this, that, and the other when it was time to do the paperwork...but I had no problems. One of the managers came in while we were waiting for the manager we were working with, and he asked the price. When I told him the amount he tried to say something about it being before the destination charge, but I just said, "no, 23,100 before tax & liscense." So, that's what I paid. I also added at spoiler for an additional $400 or 450 (can't remember exact price on that). We would have been able to get the 4 cyl. for 20,988. The dealership knew I was right on the fence with the whole purchase...and that I really wanted the Passat instead. But in the end, I was more comfortable with honda's reliability. But, my next car better be a bmw or an audi :) For now, this is great. The looks of the car are *slowly* growing on me. But I must admit, I love the interior and the way it drives. Its a very nice car, and I think we got an awesome seal on it!

For people who got their LX V4 sedan for ~$17500.
That is ~$1000 under invoice right? (According to
    edmunds the invoice is 18420)

Here is couple questions that I hope I can get help on.

    1. Is $18420 the right invoice price? I am confused since my local sales guy quoted me roughly $18000 (invoice he said) the price include destination and splash guards, but he showed me no paper. I am hoping roughly $18000 does not turn out to be $18500 or more.

    2. Does anyone got their LX for $17500 in Chicago area. Any recommendation.

    Thanks in advanced

    Thanks

    Good luck to all!

Hi, I am also interested in buying a '03 Accord Sedan V-6 in MA.
How much did you pay for yours, what did that include (taxes, license, etc), and, finally, did you get any additional features?
How did you get such a low destination fee??
    Thanks in advance.
  • ddoransddorans Member Posts: 4
Hi, the purchase price was $23774+tax($1189)+license&title($116)+dealer fee($94). I think you confused the doc or dealer fee for the destination fee which is in the $23774 purchase price. At time of purchase I had a new car loan rate from peoplefirst.com(costco member rate) of 3.74%. which Curry Honda beat at 2.9%. Peoplefirst rate was for 36 months but the Honda loan could have been up to 60 months. No dealer installed options but purchased oem splash guards(easy to install) from Handa.com for $58. I hope this was of assistance.

Help please, I just committed to a 48 month lease at a local dealership in NYC. I have to roll in $1200.00 for my existing lease and I will be paying $300. per month for 48 months, tax included. Total out of pocket is about $950.00

Has anyone got any advice. I thought I negotiated a good deal but I have been ripped off before. I did give them a deposit and I expect to pick up the car in the next few days (if I don't chicken out). So any advice you have will be appreciated.

    Thanks

Bought mine from Flow Honda in Winston-Salem NC. Paid $24,000 plus a $290 doc fee. Got 2.99% financing. Tried to gig me with splash guards and wheel locks, but I said no thanks. They gave them to me at no cost. Altogether a pleasant experience. Probably could have done better, but its a great car. Dealer near Raleigh was offering 0% financing but no negotiation on the price.

Just purchased a 2003 LX Sedan Automatic for &19,000 out the door price (included license fee and taxes). My friend told me you can get the same car for $18,000 out the door price. Anyone out there get the same car for better price?

    Greetings,

I am in the market for a 03 LX auto, no side airbags (in Minneapolis/St. Paul - 4+ Honda dealers). Edmunds TMV is a tad over 19k, which is almost exactly the price quoted by a couple of dealers through the Edmunds request. No additional fees (title and taxes only). Invoice is around 18k plus $460 delivery.

I was ready to buy, but now I am reading accounts of people buying the same model for under 18k. Now this is not a huge difference from what I was quoted, but I would very much like to know how these quotes were achieved. Are prices that region dependent? (accounts I have read were from the Bay Area) How, in general, is it possible to buy a fairly popular new model that far under invoice? Advice appreciated, thanks.

I would like to purchase Accord 2003 EX-V6 Coupe in the NYC area. Is $23,400 a good price? If anyone got a better deal, how much and where? Thanks.

I am in the NYC area and I have signed the paper for one and half months. Until now, the salesman can't give me a fix day for when I car can deliver. I have asked the sale and he said that the car I look for is not produce yet until middle of Feb. Is anyone already get the same car I am looking for or with different color? Thanks
  • treostertreoster Member Posts: 74
Don't know about supply now, but I've had that exact car since mid-Dec. It's fantastic - worth the wait, and a bargain for what you get.

1.5 months seems like a long wait, though.

Hello all, does this sound like a good price to you, 1999 Accord LX automatic, no extras, 25,000 miles for $9150.00?
  • mbfjackmbfjack Member Posts: 23
Hi and thanks so much. I am still shopping around, but I think you got a pretty good deal.
Are you happy with the car?? How are the tires in the snow??
  • northwest1northwest1 Member Posts: 65
I have been shopping for a DX or LX Accord sedan for a while now. I have family in the south SF Bay area so I visit there often. Seems like an Accord LX auto sedan is pretty commonly available in San Jose for about $17.5K (incl destination, but before other fees and taxes). Local dealer doc fees are about $50. Hondas are a commodity in the Bay area (lots of dealers and many are volume oriented to boot). Local economy also happens to be weak. You can get on the Stevens Creek Honda email list and get their weekly specials...of late, I have seen LX autos for about $17.3K and EX autos for about $19.3K. Boston, MA prices are reputed to be better, but I have no direct experience with that area. I also assume that West Coast dealers get more Japan-manufactured cars (as opposed to Eastern states closer to Marysville, OH), if that is important to you. I am leaning toward getting a car in the Bay Area, since the Seattle, WA area where I live is a less price-driven market. They can't (won't) offer anything close pricewise up here.
  • jmessjmess Member Posts: 677
I think it is more they don't have to offer better prices in the Portland/Seattle market because it is smaller market and controlled by a couple of big dealers. You go out and ask for quotes and they all come in about the same once your figure out the games some of them play with mandatory options packs and window etching. It is almost like they have some under the table agreement on pricing. You can go down to SF Bay area and easily pay $1000 less than what I paid for an EX.

Keep in mind that any car you buy in CA will have the 7.5% sales tax added in; which isn't refundable from what I was told. That is why I ended up buying in Oregon; which has no sales tax.

Today I became the proud owner of a 2003 Accord LX with 5-Sp auto, pinstripe and trunk tray. The total came to $19,800 after TTL. I also qualified for the 2.99% for 60 months just $356 a month. I enjoyed working with the internet salesman. The process went smoothly.
I was just amazed as I called several local dealers of their low advertized price, but it quickly balloned with with processing fee, preparation charge, and etc. I am glad it is completed and this new baby doll is parked out front. They were very professional and courteous.
        Good luck on your purchase.

How much have other people been paying for their coupes, the prices i see here are very good , ie 17900 for the lx auto but thats the sedan, i paid 18960 for my lx auto coupe, tell me if i really overpaid, or what, i got the car, trunk mat, wheel locks, and splash guards, i had better deals on the car ... 18300 but the dealership i bought from had my color in stock and had a better financing deal... for me... 6.99 for 60 months.. with no credit... but they got me for 150 on the vin etching but i was too tired to argue.... tell me if i should be getting a better deal on my brothers coupe or is that sound right? i got out the dealership at 20440 with ttl .... and 1000 for my trade on a MESSED UP totalled 97 accord with no airbags lol

    Northwest,

thanks for your input. It must be a regional thing then. What are the quotes on a 03 LX auto that you are getting Seattle? I still can't figure out how can the Bay area dealers sell the Accords for so much under invoice.

I am not sure it is worth if for me to fly down there and get one for a difference of, say, $1200.
The difference in the tax rate between CA and MN is minimal, though - 1% or .5% depending where in MN you live.

Please post on this board where and for how much you end up buying your Honda, and good luck.

Got my LX-V6 Graphite pearl for $21,250 from
friendly honda in NY. This price includes
destination charge. Got financing 4.79% which I
know not the best one right now. However I had hard time finding LX-V6 in graphite pearl. So
decided to close the deal - picking up my car
tomorrow. The invoice price is $21,158.

"Hello all, does this sound like a good price to you, 1999 Accord LX automatic, no extras, 25,000 miles for $9150.00?"

saturnfreak01, a lot depends on the car's general condition, history, and what part of the country you're in. The mileage certainly doesn't sound excessive. But, was this car ever wrecked? One of the "dangers" of owning a car with high resale value is that insurance companies are loathe to total them out after an accident - that excess value can cover a LOT of repair work. My insurance company settled for $11,700.00 last December after my '96 Accord LX 4 cyl automatic was totaled. (Yeah, it was damaged THAT bad.) But, that was an inland southern California car (no salted roads) and had just over 28,000 miles on it.
  • billiam70billiam70 Member Posts: 54
For some reason in the northwest Honda dealers add a regional markup on all their cars. Most Accords have around $1500 added to the MSRP. Then the dealers around here add fenderwell trim, splash gaurds, and other non-essentials to the car so they can jack up the price further.
  • northwest1northwest1 Member Posts: 65
Agree that the price savings to buy in CA may not be worth the extra hassle factor. I did check with the WA state government website as far as taxes...there is a "use tax" you have to pay when registering an out of state vehicle. Use tax is equal to the sales tax rate where you register the car. The "good" news is that the sales tax paid in CA would count toward the use tax owed (i.e. you don't pay tax twice). If you paid no slaes tax (in OR) you would still have to pay the entire use tax to "legally" register in WA, so the fact that CA and OR do or don't have sales tax does not affect your bottom line. Do you happen to have any dealer recommendations in the Seattle/Tacoma markte?
  • northwest1northwest1 Member Posts: 65
The price difference between CA and MN is likely not enough to justify the hassle. You are probably just as close to Boston as CA, so you may as well go there if you go anywhere. I figure it is good to know pricing in other areas, so you know how much "extra" you are paying to stay local and to know that that "rock bottom" local price is all relative. I figure the CA dealers are selling rock bottom now to maintain their sales volume and dealer rankings. They will make it all back and more when the economy there turns around.
  • jmessjmess Member Posts: 677
I sent some email to a couple of Seattle dealers and they never responded.

I was able to get the published invoice price at Thomason Internet Sales without any games but it took a couple phonecalls with the salesrep. You should be able to get the same price in Seattle. I think the Accord market is slowing down in the Northwest; war with Iraq should have a major impact on sales also.
  • ddoransddorans Member Posts: 4
So far so good with the new Accord. Having problems with my lower back, the drivers seat with its lumbar support and comfort is worth the price of admission alone. It has not snowed since last tuesday so have yet to test its capabilties. Love the car so far.

I have two out-the-door prices of 26,8 sumpin, sumpin 26,7 sumpin, sumpin. Anyone out there have any out-the-door prices of 25,200 or less, excluding non-sales tax states. Everyone so far has gone invoice(23,474)+ ($1,000)+ (2065)ax + ($140)lic/reg + ($135)splashguard/paint protection. They keep going to 1,000 over invoice. Anyone heard of any lower invoice quotes with destination included within 200 miles of seatlle?? Some lady in California said she had a quote of 23100 invoice, that would be great. OH>>>> anyone have any quotes below invoice would be great!!!! if so where???
ps....any rebates or incentives out there??

We have an extremely competitive market in New England. I've bought a couple cars here at Autofair Honda. They have a no-haggle pricing policy. Just add ~$110 for doc/tags.

    Sedan prices:
    LX Auto: $17,863
    EX Auto: $19,893
    EX-L Auto: $21,077
    EX-V6 Auto: $23,201

Boston dealers can beat these prices by a little bit if you're willing to grind.
  • fredvhfredvh Member Posts: 857
I don't know about the other models but on the EX auto that price of $19,893 is $726 BELOW invoice. I do not see how they can sell it that cheap. Do these prices include the transportation amount on the car sticker?
Update: I just went to their web site. What a refreshing way to do business. The prices are upfront and they don't even have the add-ons (e.g. paint protection, etc.). It would be worth it for a buyer to purchase there and have it shipped to your home. Apparently the Upfront prices include exactly what is on the particular vehicle sticker.
What does everyone think about the way this dealership posts the prices?
  • mikek37mikek37 Member Posts: 411
Why does it sound too good to be true. If this was the case, why doesnt everyone purchase their vehicles from them? Talk about competition. It most likely doesnt include destination fee. Something smells fishy, but if it is true, you cant go wrong?
  • nyaccordnyaccord Member Posts: 6
I wonder why Autofair Honda has two of the same cars at different prices. Honda EX V6 coupe w/ leather nighthawk black pearl for $23,765 and $22,988.
