I've noticed that some people get way too focused, IMHO, on each individual fee. I think that plays into the dealers' mind games. They'd rather negotiate a $400 fee than a $20,000 base price. And it's the first thing people bring up when they look at the order form. "What's this $400 processing fee?" So the salesperson can eventually say "If I can waive that documentation fee, do we have a deal?" Meanwhile, the big number, the base price of the car, hasn't moved.
On the main site, click the "NEW CARS" tab on top, then click the "Incentives and Rebates" tab, input your zipcode and then select Honda and the Accord Model you are interested in.
And BTW, I looked into pretty much every accessory before I bought, and I think your salesperson may have been yanking your chain a little. The moonroof visor installed is about $180 (or $90 for the parts, which attach with four clips), not $595. The side molding installed is about $313 so $268 that I paid didn't seem too bad. FWIW.
Is this a good deal?
Should I try to get this even lower?
Thanks.
Do you guys think its a good deal ? how far can I go ?
Any one getting a better deal than this?
I lost my 2003 Accord in an Accident (Total Loss) so I have to get another one. In this ecoonmy, it defintely is a buyers market. Lets all share what we pay and maybe we all will get a good deal through Edmunds forum.
Thanks
What the best prices you guys think should be paid for Accord EX ? I have 7% tax in my area and all the dealers are charging $600 for documentation fee.
I was wondering if anyone knows what the best deal you can get from Honda Finance is right now? Back in December they had these same prices, but you could also finance at 1.9%! Hoping it goes back to that area in the next few months as sales continue to lag.
I too received offers that were in that range, but one dealer did beat them all by another $1K.
I'm in Midwest too.
What rate did they give you and/or who did they matched your rate to?
Bank of America is giving 4.8%, it was the best I could find to date.
Thanks

I have successfully negotiated down many cars in the past so this question is a little odd to ask now. However, since I lease my cars, I am curious as to why I have always been taught to negotiate the OTD price when I am leasing. My objective has always been no money down and everything in the back. So, before I start going through the motions once again, could anyone tell me why I need to concentrate on the OTD price when I am most concerned with my monthly payment?
BTW, I do not tell anyone that I want to lease vs buy until we are at the end of negotations. But, ultimately it is the no $ down and low monthly payment I am concerned about. So why am I caring about the OTD price? I appreciate any and all answers to this question.
Thanks,
Kim
I also found the documentation fee for these 5 dealers ranged from 197 to 389.
What's the story with the window etching? they were majorly pushing it and I've never heard of it?
The 3.99% mentioned sounds even better. :surprise: ...are there any fees?
What is a good price for this model?
When I arrived at Hendrick, they had me listed on their appointment list, and told me that someone else would be "taking care of me today." The dollar numbers he had were exactly the ones I had discussed with the first girl on the phone, and the ones that appeared on the paperwork. If he had had the right color in his lot, we would have been in and out of there in about two hours, but he had to run to Tysons to get the car from another dealer, so that added another 90 minutes to the process.
All in all, a good experience, except that when I came back a couple days later (they kept the car in order in install the side molding) I had to keep an eye out for some details, like getting the entire "dealer appearance package", getting a fulll tank of gas, having the car washed before actually taking delivery. That added another 90 minutes to that second visit to pick up the car. I complained (gently) about it when they did the customer satisfaction follow-up call and the manager gave me a free oil change and wash for my troubles, which I thought was fair.
Hendrick's price was about $1000 less than the next best price quote I had gotten, and I called about 6-8 other dealers in the DC area. But that was two months ago... Maybe the deals are better now... now that another 1.2 million people have lost their jobs since then.
Maybe you should ask the dude (ibuyhondaonly?) who told me I paid too much, and that he got such a better deal for the same car, where he got his in DC, cuz apparently they're giving them away!
On another note - Accord sedan 4cyl auto MPG: I calculated MPG on a couple hundred mile road trip a couple weekends ago. At 75 mph on cruise control, I got about 25 mpg. Maybe a little higher since maybe 15% of that tank was 65mpg and a little city/suburban driving. That's compared to the stated highway fuel efficiency of 30mpg, which I think is mostly at around 55mph. Kinda interesting.

Interesting.
Thanks
EX-L 4 cyl sedan no nav, blue - OTD about $23,900. It included $750 incentive plus $300 "coupon" that I never had to show. also includes 3% VA tax, side molding
Sign and Drive:
Invoice - 19608
MSRP - 22375
Market Support (less $1k)
Residual - .60
Rate - .00225
First month down - 250
36 months at $250. per month (total)
12k miles per year
I greatly appreciate your input and expertise in this. Especially since the first dealer I went to tried to get me to sign and drive at $390 per month! BTW, I know that I posted this question in the leasing posts, too. However, I do need to give an answer (or at least another $ amount) tomorrow and that board isn't very active today.
Thanks,
Kim
"No-haggle" pricing they gave was $26,900 + $698 dealer doc fee.
Tax, tag, title are not included.
Thoughts on this pricing at this time? The dealership was empty and there are 4 in my city...well below invoice.
Located in the DFW, Texas area.
What's the difference? I checked the Honda website and its comes to $25075.
Thanks
MSRP was $27374.
Finally made a deal at $25205(6.25% tax + $275 fee) Driveout with 4.8% financing, Silver and gray interior with 3 miles on odometer. Originally made a deal at $25000 for $27075+EPP polish metalic but it has 219 mileage on it. I paid $205 ODP for tint(life time warranty).
Hope this is good deal.
I think it is doable to get the price about $4000-4500 below MSRP.
Houston, TX area.
Please let me know if you have gotten better quotes, or any benefitial experience you would like to share.
if you walk in a retail store to buy a tv list at 800,if the owner owns it for 600,will you ask him to sell you at 500 on a regular basis?when you bought a medium sized pizza at $8,and you found out it only cost them $2 to make it,did you ever think you got ripped off?
nothing is free,if you spent tons time and effort and headache and got a deal $1000 cheaper than anybody else,it is up to you if it is worth for you.or some ppl buy cars at what dealer asks for or few hundred dollar over invoice or just decent amount discounts and spent no time or got no headache, basically the $1000 worth less for them.
some ppl donate, some ppl steal.some ppl understand and let dealer make some money, some ppl believe and try to force the dealer have to lose money.
did you EX-L had navigation? Also which dealer in Houston did you buy it from?
Thanks,
SK
