Thanks mclarry. So far, of the 4 dealers we have checked with, $21,000 for the EX is the best offer. One dealer had no EX's in stock. Your point about the amount of inventory being a factor in the pricing is valid.
  • overthinkeroverthinker Member Posts: 6
what dealership in NJ? are you getting any extras?
what was the quote on the car?
  • scruffsterscruffster Member Posts: 12
So far the best offer I received on a 2010 EX-L is $24,500 including destination w/ low apr. Anyone else got a better deal? I'm located in the Bay Area.
  • scruffsterscruffster Member Posts: 12
Where are you located? I'm hoping to get a similar deal. How much would it have cost you without all the accessories? Thanks!

I live near Sacramento, but bought the car in San Jose.
  • hard_bargainerhard_bargainer Member Posts: 6
I would definitely wait until the end of the month at the very least. When I called around for quotes I got a bunch that were better than I thought possible, but 1 that blew the rest away. I told the other dealers about it and some didn't believe it was real. Another said he had to interest in giving the holdback away. When I picked up the car the internet manager told me the price was lower because they needed to sell 25 cars by the end of the month (the next day).

Folks I paid 27250 OTD on a black on black 2010 EX-L (4cyl). This was in Central NJ. I think there might be better deals out there.

WARNING: do not buy GAP insurance from dealer its way overpriced!
  • hard_bargainerhard_bargainer Member Posts: 6
F&I guy wanted $750 for GAP ins., but matched my credit union's number when I showed him.
  • misomochimisomochi Member Posts: 9
Hey jackur - where did you purchase the car from? I'm in san diego and have been quoted $28,000 OTD, which I know is way overpriced. Any tips you can give me to haggle down the price like you did?
  • mclarrymclarry Member Posts: 21
get quotes from a number of different dealers via the internet. cars.com is one way to do it. but there are other. probably edmunds does it. from there you should get a better price than 28k. i got quoted 25k otd on the exl back in aug this way. anyone that has more than a couple of these in stock should be willing to get close or below this price.

or you could just email them all and tell them you want to pay 24 and change like jackur. they will come back closer to his number than yours.
  • misomochimisomochi Member Posts: 9
I've been getting quotes and they've all been quoting me around 25k before OTD. Most dealers in san diego keep telling me they don't have this car in stock because of cash for clunkers, and will get me a car if i put down a deposot - which i didn't and think its bull. What city and state did you quoted 25k OTD?
  • mclarrymclarry Member Posts: 21
    suburbs of chicago.

the dealers seem to be telling you the truth. there are no 09 exls within 50 miles of sd according to cars.com. where as around me there are like 50
  • mclarrymclarry Member Posts: 21
email LA dealers. there are 62 09 exl's within 50 miles of zipcode 90210
  • misomochimisomochi Member Posts: 9
    will do. thanks mclarry.

I got following quotes from dealer in PA. Please let me know is it a good deal or not?

    19,800 + Tax (6%)+Tag&Reg (172) - 1.9% APR

Honda. Could have bought from Carmichael Honda for 22,495. Just emailed a
    number of dealers.

    Guys,
I’m in Northern Virginia area looking for 2010 EX-L coupe I4 with navigation. The lowest quote I received is $27037 (including dest) + TTL. Invoice is around $26,800 (including dest). What do you guys think of this deal?

Has anyone received a better offer?
  • jackurjackur Member Posts: 6
I am in NJ. It seems that everyone right now got around $4,000 0ff the MSRP for a basic trim (LX) (~18% off). So the reasonable discount for EX-L should be a little bit more than 18% off of the MSRP. It's November now and we all know dealers who still stock 09 models are anxious to get rid of those cars.
  • wang_jichengwang_jicheng Member Posts: 5
I bought a 2009 Accord LX today in Los Angeles. The final OTD price that I paid was $20400. The fees was about 11%, so the price without the fee was ~ $18545. We were offered free mud splitter (to prevent the mud from the wheels to destroying the external staining) and a rubber trunk protect stuff (to prevent the liquid from staining the trunk carpet. Just for your reference, so I guess you can still try a little bit harder. Good luck.

I'm looking into a lease for the first time. At the advice of some of you folks, I'm currently looking to get a few Internet sales quotes via email from my local dealerships. Here's the first one I received. I realize it's probably not nearly enough information, so how should I respond to it and what exactly should I be asking for? Any input is much appreciated. Thanks all.

"The 2010 Honda Accord Lx sdn leases for $179. + tax per month. This is with $3000. due at signing. This lease is for 30 months with 12000 miles per year. Please call me to schedule your test drive."

I'm reading backward as I decide what to do with my 2007 EX-L V6 lease set to expire soon. I need to comment about the I4 VS. the V6 and I must say there is a HUGE difference in the MPG - at least in the 2007 model. I want to say since I've had the car I've gotten only in the vicinity of 20 MPG whereas my inlaws with the exact same vehicle but the I4 average in the high 20s to low 30s. The needle moves so quickly from full:(

So...I need to decide whether I buy my 07 at $16.2k (just under the 36k miles) or just buy a new I4 as leasing is not in the cards this time. The V6 power and especially the suspension is nice but not worth the extra $$$ spent on gas. I think if I were to figure it over the long run, say 10 years, they would even out in price. If anyone has any comments or suggestions I would love to hear them! I also would love to hear recent prices in the MA/RI area for EX-L I4s.

sorry kingsfan - but was your car the sedan or coupe? I'm actually shopping for the coupe - total airhead thought I included that in my post. sorry! Got quoted $27k out the door for 2010 accord coupe ex-l (black on black) from fremont in bay area. good deal?
  • tran_in_latran_in_la Member Posts: 5
Hi Wang_Jicheng, congrat on the new 09 Accord. Which dealer did you get the car from? Did you get it through the internet or deal in person? I am in LA and looking for An Accord in the next couple weeks. Thanks! Tom
  • overthinkeroverthinker Member Posts: 6
for the 2010 accords, there is negligible difference in the gas consumption between v6 and 4 cylinder- at least on paper. just an fyi.
there's some system they added to the v6 that shuts down the cylinders if you don't need them or something.
  • jpelletierjpelletier Member Posts: 12
Wish this was available in the 2007 model!

Can anyone recommend hor I should go about the negotiation for a Accord purchase plus return of my lease? I assume I should negotiate price first and then tell them I have one to return.
  • shogo1shogo1 Member Posts: 1
    Hi Scruffstur,

Thanks for sharing the info. I am in the bay are too. I would like to know if the $24,500 include TTL as well. ALso which dealer offered you the deal?

    Thanks
  • jon0721jon0721 Member Posts: 25
I think that was a good quote... I don;t see any incentives on the 2010 EX-L V6 auto Coupes.

Dealer cost is $26972 after hold back..Invoice is $27,558 (hold back is around $600) Why would a dealer sell a car at a loss??

You would have to be really lucky and the dealer would HAVE to NEED to move a single car to get a price below true dealer cost. The chances of walking into that situation is small. Dealerships (or any company) won't ROUTINELY sell at a loss

A fair price for any car without any incentives is 3% over invoice if you use the sales force and invoice if you use only the Internet dept.

A good price on a 2010 Honda Accord EX-L v6 Auto should be around $28,400 Before TTL (but INCLUDING DEALER ADDON FEES) A really Great price would be less than $28,000 plus TTL

If people are claiming to have purchased the car for less than $27,000 plus only Tax and DMV the dealer is selling at a loss and that cannot be considered a normal target price for anyone. .

I offered my dealer 3% over invoice (inclusive of all "dealer fees") plus tax and DMV for mine as I used a sales person time and made a few visits taking up a lot of his time before I made an offer of 3% over dealer invoice at 1.9% for 36 months. Easy deal. Everyone was happy.

Invoice was $27,260. . Included were splash guards, wind deflector, wheel locks, and dealer installed window tint. I bought my car where I will have it serviced which is a plus especially being in a one horse town and the next nearest Honda dealership is 100 miles away where there are only two........

When I was car shopping 2 weeks ago I asked for quotes from 14 dealers. 7 responded and the quotes ranged from $26,750+TTL to $27,400+TTL for a 2010 EX-L v6 sedan. 3 of the quotes were for under $27,000 so getting the car for under invoice is not a rare situation.
  • overthinkeroverthinker Member Posts: 6
thanks! i ended up getting at $28K, including honda remote starter, side molding and splash guards (that's only cost and $710 destination). TTL was extra, of course.

no other dealer would touch that price, and i found out why- they totally tried to screw me on my trade in! i figure they thought they'd make it up.
after a few hours negotiating trade in, (and a few minutes after close) i just asked if i could buy the car at $28K w.o a trade in. then i sold my old car to a private party.

overall, i'm happy with the deal i got! for straight price in northern NJ, i'd definitely recommend paramus honda internet sales department. NOT for trade in's tho! for trade in's i'd recommend D&C honda in tenafly.

I pulled the trigger last week. paid 22,120 otd in suburban chicago. they threw in all weather floor mats and wheel locks. I tried hard to get them lower after smartasian posted his price, and got them down from about 500 higher but couldn't get more. those are the breaks.

whats the deal with the honda cares warranty? i hadnt researched it at all so i passed, was this smart? think it cost 2200 to extend bumper to bumper out to 8 years.

I purchased a 2009 EX-L sedan, splash guards, cargo liner, yesterday from Fuller Honda in Chula Vista for $25,699 OTD. Internet Manager and F&I Manager were awesome to deal with. By far my best car purchase experience. Hurry up, only 3 2009 EX-L left on their lot.
  • rreecemcserreecemcse Member Posts: 2
Greetings from Washington, DC. I take it you are not including tax in your OTD price? What about freight charge or processing fee?

    Hi all!

The lowest quote I have received so far for a 2010 Honda Accord Coupe, V6 EX-L with Nav, Manual Trans is $29,356. Do you think this is reasonable price for the car? In order to get the transmission and color combo I want (manuals are pretty tough to find), I would have to "order" this car... so I would have to wait 60-90 days for it to arrive (I am definitely willing to wait for it). I am in the San Francisco Bay Area. This is my first new car purchase so any advice and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!! :)

$25,699 OTD. Accord EX-L Sedan, tax (8.75%), destination, title, doc's, license, registration. Dealer threw in splash guards and cargo tray.

I am currently leasing a BMW 525i and am seriously considering a 2010 Accord EXL V6 w Navi. My lease is up in February, but have a couple of dealers in the Triangle area of NC willing to pay my last two payments and termination fee to get me in a vehicle now.

I am not sure if what they are offering is a good deal or not?

    36 Mo Lease - 15k miles
$0 out of Pocket (just first months lease)
$1,500 back to me to close out existing lease
    $499.00/mo payments on the Accord

Have not pressed for exact car price, money factor and residual amount... Was curious though if anyone thought this was a decent deal?

Huntington Honda is taking a loss on Accord just to get numbers. Had choice of 0 money down (no taxes, destination, bank, dmv, etc), 30 month lease for $379 per month or they have you paying some up front fees for a lower payment. Bottom line is: I tried the deal at Nardy as it was closer to my home and he showed me how they couldn't do the deal as it would lose them $1504. Then Huntington does the deal and their lease numbers showed them losing exactly $1504. Pretty good deal for a car that had everything except NAV.
