A reporter is looking to speak to a consumer who purchased on Honda because of its strong resale value (or ability to hold on to its value). Please send your daytime phone number and the car you purchased to ctalati@edmunds.com by Wednesday, December 2, 2009.

I'm looking to get a base line 2010 EX V-6, what's the price range should I be looking for? Also, I'm in SoCal, San Diego so any suggestions would help. Coming from a 2005 Camry, are these more sporty? This would be my first Honda.

We were quoted a price of $27,000 for that car w/o Navi, and $29,000 for EX-L V-6 w/Navi. We purchased the one with Navi for $29,000 in Black on Black, Awesome Car!! Absolutely Love the Navi!!

I spent months searching NJ/NY ads for the 2010 Accord LX. I did a lot of looking and basically most dealers wanted like 3k down (2200+ towards cap cost) and something like $260/mo incl all taxes, etc). It was over 10500 over the 36 months and I wanted a better deal.

I finally saw a few deals at better prices but went to a local dealer who I've head discussions with before.... I got an LX-P, not the LX...

    I got it for:

    $zero cap cost reduction down
$1260 paid upfront in fees (595 dmv, 199 registration, etc...).
They gave me $250 towards my last lease pmt of my old car (non-honda)
    Total of $226/mo incl taxes. (12k miles/yr)

So net net cost over 36 months is about $9170. (Resid is 13760).

Also Included the window etching for $234 w/tax.

To note Honda recently lowered the Money Factor from .00133 to .000833. This saved me about $15/month.

Be sure you get this money factor when you negotiate a lease.

    Best of luck!

p.s. There was no dealer loyalty, etc involved.

    Hi

Sorry Typo error on the prices It is 23900

I got the quotation (Northern California) for $23900 (includes dest fee )+ tax and lic fees.
But he asks + $400 for enabling Alarm Security System. My impression is that EX-L comes with security system. His response was: What the car comes with is the basic security system that disables ignition when door is broken. This additional one adds more to the security system that works even when the door glass is broken/tamper ed..

Any suggestion if I should go for it// If I decline, they would disable this feature, leaving only factory supported basic security function..
    Thanks

So far I am seeing 14,800 but wonder if there is some more bargining room in there somewhere?

    Thanks

I am getting quotes in the range of $ 26200 - $ 26700 for the 2010 EXL-V6 Accord Sedan w/o navi .. I am trying to figure out the offer price (am thinking mid to high 25000) ... Anyone planning to buy or bought a 2010 recently .. what is a good price this time of the year?
  • razduckrazduck Member Posts: 21
We were quoted $27,000 for the EX-L V-6 w/o navi. If you look at actual invoice, I think the offer you received is really a bit below invoice. I would just say that you take their offer of $26.200 and begin to enjoy that awesome vehicle.
We bought a 2010 Accord Sdn. EX-L V-6 w/navi, and vehicle had included Mud Flaps, and Pin Striping, OTD Price: $29,000. That is as good as we could get with all Honda Dealers within a 200 mile radius. We've had this car for nearly 2 weeks, and LOVE IT!!!
  • klunkmanklunkman Member Posts: 80
I agree. Most dealers are pretty much dropping their drawers all the way right now, so I wouldn't make an offer much below $26,200; that's a great price.

One dealer(Cleveland OH) accepted my offer of $25700 and I took the car . Chose the number because it made it exactly 28000$ OTD :) .

Does anyone know wether Honda changed the brake system on 2010 model or not? I heard a lot of brake problems on 2008 and 2009 Honda Accord. The rear brake pads wear out around 25k miles and the repair is not under warrant.

    Hi All!

Thank you to all who post on these forums! The information provided (and advice) has been extremely helpful!! I am in the process of finalizing an "order" with a local dealer (SF Bay Area) for a 2010 Accord Coupe v6, EX-L with Nav, Manual Transmission black on black. (I am ordering the car since there are very few fully loaded manual v6 coupes in my state and none in my first choice color combo).

The agreed upon price for the car is $29,186 + TTL (my county's sales tax rate is 9.25% so that is going to add a pretty penny). I thought this was very reasonable price especially since the car has to be ordered (and is only about $100 over the invoice price listed on Edmunds) :) ! If any incentives are available from Honda when I take delivery, they will be applied to this price. I am hoping everything continues to go smoothly and I'll keep you all posted!

In case helpful to anyone out there....Overstock.com has a "car" tab on their site. Basically, in some areas, there are local dealers who are "certified" by Overstock to provide a low price (and some have a low price guarantee). The thing I thought was cool about it is that if there are certified dealers in your area...you can see the prices they offer instantly. There aren't certified dealers in all areas but it could be helpful to some folks out there.

I am in Central Florida and bought a new 2009 Accord Sedan EX today. Negotiated by email/phone with two different dealers. Both had the usual tricks - dealer delivery fees, dealer installed options. Each finally said they would do $20862 plus tag and taxes (i.e. after all other fees) but only on an in-stock unit. Both only had colors I did not want and wanted $249 to dealer trade for a color combination I wanted. Paid the extra $249 to get Polished Metal Metallic with grey interior and am happy. Came with pinstripes, trunk mat and wheel locks. I think $20,800 +/- $300 is about right depending on how particular one is about color. Silver ones seem to be everywhere, some of the other colors are getting scarce..

How have the Hondas been pricing lately? I haven't really checked since the clash for clunkers? Anyway, my friend showed me some pics of the new 2011 Hyundai Sonata and i am sold on it now. It looks like a Lexus. Just awesome! I still might consider an Accord, but it is looking bleak now!
  • blue3715blue3715 Member Posts: 13
Are you looking to buy or lease the Sonata? I was between the Honda and the Sonata for leasing but the residual on the Honda was about 66%, the Sonata was closer to 55%... that's a lot of depreciation to add to a lease price. In the end I took the Honda.

I also found the Sonata seat padding (behind my back) was very very soft and cushy. So cushy in fact there was no air-flow so I sweated quickly. Prob the only draw back vs the Honda. These cars are both good choices.

    Hi All,

I'm in the market to buy or lease a 4 cylinder EX sedan. So far my best quote is $21,331 plus fees. Not sure if this is good or not? Also, on some of the quotes list a "processing fee" anywhere from $300 to $385. Is this a legit fee, or just cash in the dealers pocket? Is this negotiable? Thanks in advance for any help!
  • dorsedorse Member Posts: 4
That is a very good price on a 2010 even with the processing fee. The processing fee is not a legal requirement although in some states (such as Florida) if a dealer charges it they must charge it on all sales. In those cases simply have them include it above the bottom line price and negotiate it out. It is pure additional profit for them.

With the added dealer fee you are about $900 above the best I could do on an in-stock 2009 EX Sedan. Since the 2009s have a $1500 factory to dealer incentive you are doing very well if you can get it for that price.

That sounds like a great deal. The best price quote I could get on the same 2010 Accord Sdn EX-L V-6 w/o navi, was $27,000. We went with the EX-L V-6 w/navi, and I'm glad that we did, the navi is AWESOME!!!

moso: the 2009 and 2010 Accords are virtually identical. If you plan to keep your car for several years, it looks like it would be a much better deal to snap up one of the last of the 2009s.

I have a question from the other side. Are there any guesses as to when Honda might put a 1500 marketing support on the 2010s? Does that usually happen in the spring or early summer?

The model I might be interested in would be the EXL navi 4 cylinder with navigation and a manual trans.....Already have one, and it's a great car.

"The model I might be interested in would be the EXL navi 4 cylinder with navigation and a manual trans.....Already have one, and it's a great car."

Is Honda still offering the Accord in that configuration (I4 EX-L with Nav and a Manual Trans)? I was just curious, since it's not currently listed on Honda's website as a configuration for the 2010's in their build and price section (but was for 2009). Possibly an error on the website?
  • benjaminhbenjaminh Member Posts: 6,595
swhonda: Yes, according to Honda's website it does appear that they've made a change shortly into the model year and are phasing out that model. I think there are still a few they made before the change, however...

I have a dealer who is asking $15300.00 out the door for a 2007 Honda Accord EX-L w/ Nav Certified with 53,326 miles. Does this sound like a reasonable offer? Are there any other questions I should ask? Thank you.
  • jguojguo Member Posts: 49
Any one bought one lately in the San Francisco Bay Area? What price did you get and which dealer?

Looking to get this car if the price is right.

Is this a 4 or a 6, go to Nada.com or kbb.com ( kelly blue book) and punch in the exact equiptment and if it is a honda certified preowned,or a used car lot? by the way that mileage is on the very very very high side for an 07, ( I would keep looking)it would also help if you post your area, for those that are reading this, new or preowned your location( ex. Albany NY, Great Bend Kansas etc.) has a lot to do with pricing, please post this info for those of us that are here to help, so we can give you accurate advice.

Thanks for the information. It is a certified honda preowned in Northern VA. It was a one-owner lease trade-in. Carfax verified. It was purchased in 2006 and averaged about 17k a year. It's an I4

I just pulled the trigger and purchased a 2010 EX-L V6 w/o navi today for $25,888 w/ 2.9% APR. We added the moonroof visor and all-season floor mats for about $300. The sales rep said he got in a little trouble with the price though. Said it was $1500 below invoice (according to the internet it was about $600 below). I feel like we got a great price. I found Edmunds helpful, as well as: http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/Honda_Accord/prices/

Going from a basic 2000 Mazda 626, I am beyond excited with my new car!

    Good luck!

Did the dealer charge you destination after the final price? was this an automatic? what were the dealer fees? and once again please, city /state or zip code. it sounds like you got a great deal but this info will decide just how great!!

So you shoppers know depending on where you are located there is less than 200 cars seperating the top 10 dealers in the country and they are trying to compete, this is the time of year for those that are in the race to blow out cars.( go figure, the positioning is more important than the profit or lack of) and yes as a retired GM that ran one of the largest dealerships in the country this $%#*&%$ HAPPENS

If you sell 5 or 6 thousand cars a year at X profit and thens comes December and you blow out a couple of hundred cars at a thousand or so loss and add that to the entire year it only skews the number by a minimum amount of dollars per vehicle average gross profit ( It is all about the bragging rights)

Ok, number 1 is in the Northeast( no one will catch him) after that they are spread out a little NY to Calif. Maybe your dealer is one of them like bennet 12 who posted cause his numbers seem to put him in that catagory.

And the answer is NO out of all do respect I will not post the standings or locations for 2 reasons.
    1) Some of these are my friends
    2) Not fair to those BUYERS or DEALERS that are in areas of the country where they dont have this option and the buyer may end up in a position of paying a little more, and that is not to say that they wont end up with a great deal for their geographical area and smaller dealers nationally cant afford to play this game.

Anything else that I can help with ??

    Happy Holidays

Looking for base '10 Accord LX model - Sedan / 4-Cyl.

    MSRP = 22,565 (incl Destination)
    Invoice = 20,732
Best offer on table = 19,888 + Tax/DMV/Docs (written offer in email, I get the feeling that can lower with in-person visit)

How much room do I have for negotiation? Would appreciate recent purchase prices + any specific tips to negotiate further.

I got a final price for 2009 EX with sunroof w/o navigation today. Drive out price $23,300.00, also including lifetime car-wash+lifetime oil change+lifetime tint +lifetime loan (means if Honda need to repair your car more than 2 hours you can get a accord to drive)

    Good deal?
  • shermajdshermajd Member Posts: 29
Edmunds does not publish this but Automotive News indicates there are $500 to $3000 incentives paid to the dealer based on make and model of Honda the dealer sells through Jan. 4. Unfortunately, Automotive News does not identify what the dealer gets paid based upon the model being sold. I cannot answer any questions you may have. Maybe more savvy negotiators know this information.
